I’ve only just applied this product, so I cannot comment on its longevity, but many previous reviews would suggest that it is excellent.
Very easy to apply using a sprayer, I was able to apply 2 coats in little over an hour.
I used 10l (2x5l) to treat a 20’x10′ shed giving 2 ‘wet’ coats.
It is odourless and becomes clear after application, after initial being white.
Very pleased
Bought an untreated jack and Jill garden seat had lots of time so put 3 coats on the wood, it’s a thin milky liquid so went on easy, didn’t rain for a week so was wondering if it was waterproof, needn’t have worried as big globules of rain water just stayed on top of the wood until the sun evaporated it, Half left in container so top up seat for north east winter weather, Job Done
We bought the sprayer and used that, one 5l can covered 3 three-seater wooden chairs and 2 singles , 2 coats. wd gop further no doubt with a paintbrush or spraying while over a waterproof sheet to catch the excess , but we were in a rush for other reasons have bought more for our other chairs, great stuff
Used this on our shed because we wanted to maintain the lovely light colour and unique beauty of the wood.
Applied using an electric spray gun. No problems with consistency, coverage or odour. Bought 2x5l and only used one, doing 2 good coats.
Hard to comment on effectiveness or durability just yet.
It’s slightly sticky to touch 72 hours later. Feels like it has formed a barrier.
Very easy to apply
This was surprisingly easy to apply – it was like painting milk onto the timber, and very little odour. You have to do a second coat within 30 mins of the first, but the second coat goes on much more easily and quickly. It hasn’t changed the colour of the timber much, if at all. Time will tell how effective it is.
Does what it says
Very runny so cover your patio area before using. Better with a brush. I notice raindrops seem to stay on the surface rather than soaking into the wood. Good product.
Looks like watered down milk ? Little sticky .. actually thought it was a waste of money .. then it rained , and the water just ran off the sleeper wall I built , but it looks like the wood hasn’t been treated ? ” you need to treat your sleepers?” … I have and it works!! How long it lasts? I don’t know , but I would just buy this agai
Applying Roxil to our older fence panels was easy. The job didn’t take as long as an anticipated and having bought 10 liters, I was able to successfully complete all the panels that needed doing plus more! Really pleased with the overall effect although will have to see now how long it lasts. Thank you Roxil – one very happy customer.
Very easy to apply, I applied the first coat then gave it 10-15mins then applied the second dries in quite fast, overall seem to be a good product, used it to seal OSB boards for bathroom floor.
Easy to apply
This product is easy to apply with a spray. Only gave four stars for water resistance as I’ve only used it on my raised wooden bed boxes recently so product hasn’t stood the test of time yet.
My high raised wooden boxes so far have kept their nice light wood appearance so looks like the product is doing its job so far.
Follow instructions and apply product as instructed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfec
Did the Job in not time. Oiling the decking is no longer a chore
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to spray
Even using a pump up action sprayer the product gives a good even water repellent coating to the wood. Being clear the natural colour of the wood is unaffected.
Very easy applicatio
Used Roxil wood preserver on softwood garden benches and picnic table. A quick power sand to take the weathered surface off, wipe down with white spirit and brush it on. Two very quick coats of Roxil, second directly after the first, goes on like water. Soaks in well and dries in 24 hrs to a slightly silky finish without changing colour of furniture. Repels water nicely. Time will tell if it lasts the claimed ten years. A little goes a very, very, long way. I would recommend based on initial results.
5.0 out of 5 stars No staining on concrete
Spraying very fast water beads on fence hope that the fence keeps its looks for a long time
Could use with my spraye
easy to use with my sprayer and seems to be water resistant with all the rain we have had, the water is sitting on the ridges and not soaking into the wood. Great price.
Used to coat eight seat picnic table and small fence 24 hours before a thunder and lightening storm. Product did a great job and I would thoroughly recommend it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great !
Good on my fences and gardening furniture. The sprayer worked for 2 or 3 fills.
We have quite a large garden so bought 2, 5l tubs plus sprayer. The sprayer works very well, to early to say if the coating works as we have had very little rain since I did it.
Im afraid you need at least 3 coats to be effective
Good price and fast delivery.
Very watery, tried to use my electric sprayer, and came out to fast even on the lowest of power so went back to the brush, time will tell about the quality.Good price and fast delivery.
Waterproofing a deck have to wait until it rains again!! to see if it works
During the summer I planned a long awaited DIY project to remove moss off a cedar shingle roof. I thought it was going to take 3 weeks but eventually took 10 weeks and a day minus 4 days of rain and minus the two afternoons of the hottest days on UK climate records.
Initially I was taken in by sales blurb that moss killer was going to be magic. No it wasn’t. Eventually the following process was arrived at but prior to that have to have multiple tool & broom heads attached to 7m :-
Brush the roof with broom with rubber bristles. (this wasn’t the stiffest bristles brush head I found but sufficient to dislodge much of the moss.
Scrape and scratch the stubborn patches especially the gaps BETWEEN the shingles. Found it was impractical to use scrapper any wider than 6cm and the scratcher had to be about 2-3mm. This was because wooden shingles are not like times, they are not totally flat in the first place such that weathering make then curl up to U shape and shrink over time leaving gaps for moss to hide in.
Spray Moss-Go Moss Killer, section by section. Each section to wait a day to dry.
Come back to section to scrub with very, very, stiff bristle, e.g. Draper 17190 or if that doesn’t work a Draper 17189 steel wire brush. Ensure all moss and dust brushed off after scrubbing.
Spray Everbuild Triple Action Wood Treatment. Wait a day to dry.
Spray Roxil Wood Protection Liquid. Roxil recommends two coats but with the project exceeded so many weeks late, I didn’t have time to go around the house again to spray. The design of the house, garage, awning has large roof area and to reach them all requires about 12 to 14 moves to relocate the scaffold tower so each spray coating (of any of the 3 chemicals) required best part of a week, depended on rain and winds.
Conclusion = Moss Killer alone not enough, a lot of elbow grease was a pre & post requisite. After application and scrub processes, there was a big difference to how the roof looked but didn’t totally look clean until after the application of wood treatment stage. However, to skip out the moss killer stage could have been possible but Moss-Go cost a fraction of subsequent treatments. I used it at strongest recommendations mixture of 1 part Moss-Go + 5 parts water. (Subsequent treatments had to be used neat, no mixing with water = expensive but did kill off remaining moss remnants and . still need final scrub & scratch for the very stubborn moss hiding in gaps and corners).
To use this you need to be able to first open the lid! There are no instructions and the lid seems solidly fastened to the bottle. It is impossible to turn the top even a millimetre! The answer: The top is held in place by about 15 plastic straps connected to a solid blue plastic ring. You need to insert a strong tool between each of the straps and the blue ring and break them all. Perhaps a Stanley knife might do it. If only the manufacturer had thought to tell us this which is far from obvious!
After all this trouble you would think that at least the lid would not leak. Once the lid was securely back in place and tightened as tight as I could I found if the container was tipped at all the milky fluid immediately dripped out very readily. So never keep it lying flat or you might lose the lot!
As for the product I have of course no idea yet how good it is. I would have to wait maybe 5 or 10 years to see how my stobs stand up to the elements! Of course I cannot rate things like water resistance yet and the product overall might be 5 stars but one star at least has to be taken off for the lid problems.
