I like that this has a green/red indicator on the catch so you know its shut properly when it turns green. Can open gate in either direction and has a locking facility on base. Came very quick.

The gate is brilliant, really sturdy, and is perfect for a doorway to stop our dog getting to our rabbit. The opening mechanism is stiff but I feel that’s good as only adults can open it. We were perplexed by the picture instructions, so watched somebody put it together on you tube, it was very easy after that! The colour is great.

Initially I thought this was a faulty item. It appears bent and lock didn’t meet frame. I couldn’t fathom it, so I messaged advice on here, and it is only when in place will it “level” and lock correctly. Its perfect. Dog locked in his bedroom under the stairs at night or when overwhelming guest, but it’s also secure and easy to use. Well worth the money.

Bought flat easy gate to prevent trip for baby.
It is easy to install and no drilling needed. The gate is strong and steady. The original one is about 70-72cm only. So, I have to buy an 14cm extension.
I am satisfied with the purchase and recommended.
The delivery was fast and precise as usual.

Pretty secure and easy to install but the catch to open and close is a bit a of a pain. You need to push in a catch then slide the lock back and it’s not the easiest to do one handed

I wanted a pressure fit gate with a really flat step over bar, and this gate has just that!

It’s easy to install and adjust, and I like that you can also prevent the gate from opening in a certain direction if you wish.

Being pressure fit, with enough force, this gate does move within the doorframe it’s fitted within (unless I guess you screw in the plastic “holders” which come with it for the pressure pads into your stairs/wall/doorframe – but then screwing things into walls/stairs/doorframes kinda defeats the point of this supposedly being pressure fit!)

Anyway, certainly for younger children who can’t push things with all that much force, this gate does the job with its “pressure fit” without needed to screw anything into your house!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe best baby safety gate around! The flat step is great. The gate has a stay open feature which is so useful when it doesn’t need to be shut. You can swing the door both ways also. One thing to be aware of is the flat step can be slippery if you step on it in socks! Something to be careful of if you have it on the stairs. We put ours not directly at the bottom and top of the stairs so it’s fine.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor the folks giving this One Star. When you first get it out of the box, you will see that the top of the frame is about 3 inches apart and doesn’t connect to the lock – dont worry, it’s not broken. You get a spanner with and all you have to do is tighten it so it’s “under tension”. It will then lock as seen in some of the pictures here and because it’s “under tension” the frame is firmly locked to the door frame.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersBought this gate to segregate our new puppy and jail him in the kitchen whilst he thinks about his “choices”
Gate itself was easy to fit but I’d recommend using your own spanner, the one that comes with it is rubbish. Matches my kitchen colour well… not too easy open with one hand but isn’t impossible, there’s a bit of a knack to it, that my wife and children are yet to master. But the dog hasn’t figured it out which is the main thing. It has little locking mechanism at the bottom that you can put up or down to prevent opening a certain direction. These are a nuisance because they’re pretty loose and just drop down. They will eventually make you say swear words. I’ve remedied these with an elastic band to keep them up and out of the way. Was good price I thought, right colour – keeps the dog in kitchen. Good gate.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOpening is a bit fiddly, probably due to the lock being quite small. Also the duel lock on the bottom of the gate keeps dropping down so you have to lift it before opening the gate

his is a good looking safety gate – we use it to keep the dogs in the kitchen when they’re too mucky to wander around the house
it’s very easy to install and feel very sturdy
you can install with or without screws, we’ve used without and it still feels pretty solid
there’s a handy green/red indicator on the top so you can see if there’s enough tension to hold it in positio

This is a good value for money, well made sturdy stair gate. My partner soon had it in position and the ‘flat step’ makes it ideal for the top of the stairs to keep our little Grand-daughter safe.

Bought the gate to keep our new puppy from going upstairs, the most important aspect is the fact you don’t need to drill any holes, also you can purchase extra extended parts if you have a larger gap to place it in which is bigger than the width the standard gate is, would highly recommend. Would watch the video on the sale page for installation. 5 star product.

Found this gate on which best buy and it had great safety ratings because of the flat step bar at the bottom. I didn’t expect the step bar to be as flat as it is as the picture on the box doesn’t do it justice. I really am impressed to be honest and would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

On holiday with 4-month-old puppy and cat, bought this as urgently needed a safe place to separate them at times. Next day delivery and now used at home to allow cat a refuge. Pup older but no wiser. Always thinks the cat likes being chased.

I looked for a product for top and bottom of stairs and was glad to find this. Initially a bit fiddly with picture instructions only, and given that I also needed an extender, but it fits the space well and securely. The low-tread design is perfect for my needs.

We bought this as it comes highly recommended by Which. It’s the only pressure fit gate that’s safe to use at the top of the stairs, according to them. It was easy to install and fixes to the wall with strong adhesives, so you don’t have to screw holes in your walls. Ideal if you’ve redecorated recently or you want minimal mess but you still want something very safe for your child.

You only get enough adhesives to stick it to the wall once – if you make a mistake attaching the adhesives then you don’t have any spares. But it’s worth knowing that you do get more adhesives if you buy an extension, so if you’re really stuck you can do that. We had no problem installing it correctly though, it’s pretty straightforward.

We chose to use the pressure fittings for a bedroom door and it was really easy to fit. It only took one person to fit and it’s nice and sturdy. I would have liked a spare pack of sticky pads for if you want to use the gate again elsewhere in the house. The mechanism is really easy to use, although it’s not completely silent, you can hear it click into place.
Overall I would definitely recommend this gate.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI can’t recommend this product enough and below are reasons why
    1. Comes in small packaging but has everything you need
    2. The Amazon page of the product has an installation video which is very easy to follow and you’ll have the gate installed within 15 minutes
    3. The 3m stickers it comes with are very strong. I had to remove one and pasted it again and it held very strongly
    4. The gate opens both ways
    5. This is a flat step one and our baby easily crawls through it with no issues whatsoever
    6. Due to its flat nature you can install it in the stairs above
    7. The stickers can attach to a wall or a bannister just as well.
My only gripe with the product is if it came in different colours. Grey, black and oak colours would be welcome.

I fitted this on the first step of my stairs as a pet gate, brilliant, and the low frame means less for trip hazard, the number one reason for buying this.

Fitting is super easy, but I had missing parts, so I had to buy wall protectors (at almost the same cost as the gate). the gate arrives with an apparently large gap, but it closes up during installation. The spring in the lever is a little stiff to start with, and the handle isn’t very grippy; after a couple of days, the spring mechanism eases, but I’d still prefer a little more group.
    Great gate, very pleased.

Bought this to stop my dogs getting into the hall and going upstairs. I like the gate. It was easy to fit. You have to adjust the top screws so the indicator is within the green marker or the gate won’t open. It came with cups that stick on so it doesn’t mark the woodwork which is good. It looked like it was broken when I got it, but when I looked at the instructions I realised that was how it should be. I opted for Amazon’s open box, which was a mistake as one of the raw plugs, two screws and one of the washers was missing. I have not bothered with the raw plugs and I am hoping that although a washer is missing it will still hold and not come loose. Time will tell!

We have two stair gates: this one and a similar model from another manufacturer. This one arrived quickly and was very easy to install. A nice touch is the two large knurled knobs so it is easy to remove it and refit it if your grandchild only visits occasionally. The flat step is less of a tripping hazard. The catch opens easily with one hand: pull back against the spring and then lift. It’s enough to stop even a determined toddler and there is no risk of it opening accidentally. Pleased with the purchase. Good value.

Despite the huge volume of stair gates on the market, this was the only model I could find that was pressure fit (no drilling or screws required!) *and* had a slim line floor bar to avoid a trip hazard, so I was really pleased to find it.

The gate opens both ways, which is really handy at the top of the Stairs and it can be closed or left open. It can be opened with one hand but I am finding the catch is taking a bit of getting used to, but it is easy once you remember which direction to pull and lift! It certainly seems sturdy enough, although we bought it to keep our Dog from chewing the skirting on the Landing at night, so it hasn’t been tested with a child pushing or pulling on it. Baaed on our experience, I would definitely recommend i

Golden Review Award: 47 From Our UsersI read many reviews and even if the average was 4.5 stars when I bought this I was still afraid that this gate was really difficult to open with one hand, well short review here, it is nice, sturdy, well designed and easy enough to open with one hand.

This gate is very nice, smooth bars with no accentuated corners which might hurt the baby if he crash on it.
The gate can be left open pushing it 90 degrees in each direction.
There is are also 2 small plastic flaps which you can move to decide if the gate can open in all directions or only inward or outward.
The threshold has a low profile and is rounded at the edges, this will allow me to vacuum clean easily and still use the robot to independently clean the floor.
Assembled with no screws nor stickers, I just applied to my door frame and tightened it as shown in the instructions, very easy, after I also tried to move it, and I can confirm is not going anywhere.

    Highly recommended.

We are using this gate when our baby grandson visits – with two little dogs as well! At the moment it is to stop the dogs going upstairs. Because we don’t leave it up in between we are not screwing or gluing it to the wall as recommended, and as the stairs are open on one side the dogs have worked out how to get round the side of it, though I think I can stop them by adding an extension piece of wood which won’t be difficult. So, overall, I like the gate, but it is not quite perfect for our needs. Still, we are happy with it.

Great safety gate, wish we had this one at our old place.. Wouldve saved us a lot of pain when stepping on it! This one has a realitively flat, low, rounded bar across the bottom making it much more comfortable when stepping on it. Perfect for our stairs as you can see. Latch/handle is a bit tricky and stiff at first, but I’m sure we will get used to it. Has little pegs you can flip around to keep it from opening in both directions, you could probably use it as a lock if you needed to.. Anyway, swings closed behind you but you gave to push the handle down to properly shut and lock it. You can have it stay open as pictured if you push it all the way open, great for carrying things up and down the stairs. 10/10 for value, and like I said, we wish we would’ve bought this one years ago. Do your feet a favour and buy this gate!

I bought this for in between living room and kitchen as baby would always crawl out there and made work in the kitchen 10x harder to get on with. This is a chunky gate for the door frame but my dad put it up and it doesn’t move as I knew my baby would be pulling himself up on it. I don’t know if it’s stiff coz new or I’m a total weakling, but I can’t open this with one hand, I have to use 2 but that’s fine as I don’t carry my son in to the kitchen. It’s a very safe gate and overall I’m very happy with my new barrier!

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersWe’ve had a fair few different baby gates over the years and this is by far the best one. In the past I’ve favoured wooden non trip ones that you screw into the wall as I hate the bar at the bottom but after finding they tend to warp and misalign after a while I did a lot of research and decided to try this one. It’s very sturdy and I like that when unlocked you can have it pushed open or swing shut but the best bit is the low rounded bar across the bottom – you don’t notice it’s there.
Four stars as the locking mechanism is slightly unusual as you slide it to lock/unlock. The benefit of that is that I think a toddler would do well to escape but I do think someone with arthritis would struggle to pull it back to unlock it and also if a little one decided to lock it themselves they could hurt their fingers although I don’t think badly – I have a two year old and we don’t have any issues.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThe flat step is a good addition to the gate. It means you are less likely to fall (which is a plus when carrying a baby!).

The opening mechanism is difficult to open if you put it on full lock, however you can just partially lock it (which a child or dog would not be able open) and it is then easy to use.

I found it difficult to fit as the instructions were very poor. However once I had watched a u-tube video it was very easy.

Its fits great and feels very secure and stays open if you want.

Nothing to compare it too, but if you can put up with the above issues works fine.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersBefore I even began looking at safety gates I had a read through the Which? Reviews. This gate was one of a few in the top rated under their independent reviewing.
The price is perfectly reasonable. We have bought 4 of these – 3 with additional extension pieces.
We wanted the same gate throughout the house so that we didn’t have to remember different operational techniques.
This product appealed for the flat base step, so that there is no trip hazard – particularly on stairs. Also for the ease of use – one handed open/close plus its pressure fit (we didn’t want any drilling involved.
The gate was very easy to install both in a doorway and also top/bottom of stairs. And I had all of them up within a short space of time. Once you’ve mastered one.. the rest is easy.
They’ve been up a while now, and we couldn’t be happier with our purchase and they certainly work well at keeping our son safe!
