I am very pleased with the Salter scales however when getting the scales ready for use it was virtually impossible to pull the plastic tab off to holding the battery – it was necessary to use an extremely small screw driver to release the plastic tab .
Incredibly light – the controls are touch sensitive and I have to check each time that they are off. A little too sensitive to touch really but otherwise ok. Used daily for weighing out dog food.
These were very cheap but the quality we have found so far to be of a really high standard. The scales are accurate and should last a long time if we don’t drop them. Very pleased with our purchase surpassed our expectations.
Nice looking, neat appearance, a little fiddly to press buttons
There is nothing to dislike. Looks great, easy to clean and appears to be accurate.
This glass electric scale is very elegant looking, an attractive item to have in the kitchen and it is easy to read and to switch from grams to ounces. Important also that you can zero it with a bowl on and very useful that you can add liquids.
I am sure it is accurate, although cannot fully judge it yet as I have hardly used it. This is why I cannot give a 5 star rating. I bought it because it is essential to have scales even if not used much. “Easy to use” only gets 3 stars from me because of having to fiddle around with a screwdriver to put the battery in. However, I expect it will rarely need a battery replacement so it is not a major issue.
I am expecting this to be as reliable as my old scales which have lasted for years. Easy to use as you can put anything on it, then zeros it to add other ingredients and easy to read.
Bought as a replacement for scales which had a broken foot causing inaccuracies in weighing. It works well, good size to fit in a drawer, and has the advantage of weighing in both grams, ounces, fl oz and mls. Easy to wipe clean.
Thought my new scales were faulty like other reviewers had commented. After a few weeks scales showed random values so I replaced battery and they were working well again. Skip a couple of weeks same problem so changed battery again but scales would not turn on then realised the Duracell batteries i was using had a sticky label on (new one on me-didn’t register at time) and now they are working perfectly. II actually previously bought these scales for my daughter and as she was so pleased with hers decided to replace my old needle style with the same ones. Have always bought Salter and my kitchen timer for baking is invaluable as is my cooker thermometer. My new cooker doesn’t heat to the temperature it shows, it annoyingly runs around fifteen degrees out which makes a big difference with baking.
Firs time I’ve bought scales like this as in my new home I dont have room for the larger ones. These work perfectly fine and are easy to get to grips with. Instructions are clear. No fuss, bang on!
The feature to add ingredients makes this so easy to use. First you put it flat on the worktop and put any bowl on it. Then switch on. It starts in grammes, but you can tap the unit button gently to change to Lbs and oz. The digital readout is right on the front so it is easy to see. If you already had it switched on before you placed the bowl on there, no problem, just tap the on/off button gently and a second later it zeros again, ignoring the weight of your bowl and beginning from zero. If you are making a cake, for example, put the castor sugar in until the scales show the right quantity – 225 grammes in our case. Here is the clever bit. Tap the on/off button again, and the scales reset to zero, ignoring the bowl AND the caster sugar already there. Now add the flour, again, to our recipie, 225 grammes. For the butter, again, tap the on/off switch gently, and it zeros again! now add your quantity of butter – and now you have your ingredients accurately weighed and all in one bowl. The Mixing bowl – so you don’t have to clean a weighing scales bowl anymore.
The unit is the size of a magazine, and the top surface is glass and very easy to clean. The neutral grey sparkle finish looks cool, and it stores in a bookshelf taking up half an inch or less.
It switches off by holding the on/off switch for a few seconds, but if you forget, it powers off in about a minute anyway.
So much better than the old style scales with a bowl – love it, hope it lasts, great value at twenty quid.
I love the look of the scales, but was disappointed that it is not 18cmx25cm, 18cm X 23cm. As I was replacing my smaller Salter scales because I wanted something bigger, this is not ideal!
his product is so easy to use i like how simple the function to use and set. display is clear to see.
