I use this for roughing up the surface of the soil. Makes weeds easier to pull out and keeps soil looking nice. Easy to see what you’re doing so you can manoeuvre round precious plants and shrubs. Good solid well made sturdy product. Have used mine for over a year now and still happy.

This is a great hand rake for borders. Its long and sculptured wooden handle help you reach the back of borders without over stretching. The clever triangle-head design means that if you get too close to a plant when pulling the tool towards you, it gently pushes it out of the way. A traditional T-head rake would damage the plant. Not cheap but well worth the price. Will last for many years.

Bought this for mum who wanted something she can use to help her get off her knees when weeding It is sturdy and works well My only complaint is it had a rough splinter on the handle, otherwise it is fine.

Just what I need for leveling and weeding in and around my onions shallots and garlic in my raised bed. Longer handle means i can easily reach across the four foot wide beds. Tool appears strong and sturdy and I hope it proves to have a long working life. Time will tell.

Fantastic product from a house hold name! Brilliant for breaking up soil and taking weeds from the flower bed. Long handle makes it easy to use and a lot easier in your back. Highly recommend

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWorks wonderfully at it’s intended purpose, perfect sized handle to reach further if you need to (I used it under my tree border to help plant seeds) and has a handy little hole for hanging on a hook, top notch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good.

This looks like a sturdy traditional tool. It was a gift for my father in law so I hope it goes the course. Good looking, well made product. Thank you.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is my fave garden tool. It’s well made and it’s helpful having the long handle. Great for weeding, working in compost to old soil, tilling and general tidying work.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI absolutely love this product and make it my favourite and go-to gardening tool. I used to have a cheap version of this and upgraded to the S&J when the old one fell apart. This is well made, as you would expect and feels like it will last a long time. I think S&J have nailed the design of this – the handle is long and I find this to be a great feature – with deeper beds, you can hold it right at the end and get a good reach. It pulls weeds out like there’s no tomorrow and the staggered blade setup is possibly part of this. There’s not much else to say – if you haven’t tried it, get one, you will not regret it and for weeding anyway, you will probably ditch whatever you’re using now…

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersReally happy with these. We’re new to gardening and are now starting to buy tools to sort it all out. These have extra long handles and look great quality – to an amateur anyhow! We bought a few other bits and used them on the weekend to weed the raised beds. Makes it much easier!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAn excellent tool to use whilst tidying up in the borders or veg patch, it goes through and breaks up the soil very easily, thus dislodging any weeds that have established since the last tidy up. The tool is very well made from quality materials and the lovely tactile handle is just the right length to give you enough extra reach without making it too heavy or unwieldy. This has become an important part of my gardening tool kit.

Has made gardening easier and is sturdy enough for the job. Must be careful not to leave it lying around though as the spikes are quite sharp. Very good value when bought as a set as none of the local shops could get near this price.

Great tool. I bought this to get under bushes and shrubs as well as general use and that’s why I chose this long handled version. It is very good quality and has enabled me to easily get at weeds growing under my topiary bushes. Very happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersLovely traditional-looking tools at a good price

This review applies to the Weed fork, Trowel and the long-handled hand Cultivator, which I bought all at the same time from amazon.

We were looking to get some hand tools, but wanted to avoid the bargain-basement sets that you can get from low-end stores which end up being a false-economy.

Spear & Jackson are a decent name in garden tools, and these implements have stainless steel main parts and traditional wooden handles, so it matches a spade and fork that I already have and am very pleased with.

They appear well made, and come equipped with nice leather straps for hanging up in my shed.

The price for the weed fork and trowel were only 5 each from amazon at time of purchase (half that of “big shed” high street stores. The long-handled cultivator was more expensive, but a similar degree of saving was made over the high street by purchasing through amazon.
