As expected with S & J excellent quality. Bought to replace S & J 60+ year old ones inherited from my Dad. I’m sure these will last as long, though I doubt I’ll be around by then!
The true test for garden tools like this is how are they after a few years. But, so far, so good. They are well made, and though lightly used, no problems.
Really nice traditional feel- lovely wooden handles. A joy to use. I also have the dandelion weeder (4059NB) in the same series – the best tool I have found so far for the spot removal of marestail.

These feel like quality products. Nice and heavy, not like the cheaper made Chinese ones. Got fed up of the cheap ones bending so decided to pay for a bit of quality. Would recommend.
These tools are a brilliant price for the high quality of Spear & Jackson goods. They are extremely sturdy and hardy and they make light work of hand weeding the garden/borders.
Good sturdy and rust-proof gardening tools. I bought a set years ago and they are still as good as new, so I bought another set as a gift for my cousin who is a keen gardener. The price varies a lot, and second time they were a lot more expensive, alas, but they should last a lifetime if used and stored properly.
Bought to replace some cheap gardening tools and the difference is immediately clear. Tools are solidly built with a good thickness of metal and wooden handles. They feel sturdy when in use and I don’t think they’ll bend any time soon. For the money this looks to be a good purchase for your garden.
These are very solid and strong. I was very pleased with how they looked when I unpacked them. I used them the morning and I wasn’t disappointed. I think that they will last for a long time.
One of the metal hozels which slides onto the handle was loose, not even crimped. You don’t expect this sort of thing from Spear and Jackson, I can easily fix it with a punch but thats not the point, hence 4 stars.
