Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI bought this as more and more people dont carry cash to art exhibitions and craft fairs. Its saved me from loss of sales so just on that its a good buy.
the set up is easy even the on board shopping cart if you decide to use it is easy to set up. you get a monthly report and can even have reciepts sent to your customer via email. it can be set up where there is no wifi as it works off bluetooth to your phone either android or apple.

Got it to use with my small business at markets. Super simple to use, just connects to your phone, so as long as you’ve got service it works a treat. You can access your takings the next day and commission is really low. A win all round for me.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI have just started my own business. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been both reluctant to exchange notes and accept notes. I was searching for various card readers from size to the fees involved. I came across sumup. The reader is small enough to carry around and versatile enough to work with my phone.
The instructions are very easy to follow. Just link the card reader to the sumup app, which can be downloaded from the app store or playstore.
For security, the app ensures the last4 digits of the card reader match. Once connected, you just enter amount and press charge. The amount displays onto the card reader, with option to either use contactless, or enter pin.
Both the versatility and quick payment transfer, with low fees make me confident that I have chosen the right product to expand my business. The card reader comes on automatically once the app has been started.
The USB cable allows you to charge on the go. One charge for me lasts around 10 days.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVERY easy to use and reliable with minimal charges on takings, but I found it awkward to set up initially to pair with my phone & still don’t know if this is because of my little mobile or because I had the VPN switched on! In the end I passed it to my husband out of frustration (even though I’m NOT a techno-twit) and HE’S not even sure what the problem was…even though he somehow got it working in the end!!
But once the app and device pairing were enabled, the actual thing was really easy to use. I took many transactions over several hours for a fundraising event and it hardly used any of my data or battery and is really easy to use and well designed. It’s a good quality device that gives both the vendor and the customer confidence in the transaction, and selling history is clear to view. Nobody wanted receipts but they are easy to text or email if requested.
The ONLY reason I didn’t give it 5 stars on every category was because of that initial set-up stress, but get through that (mind you it might have just been MY VPN or mobile!) and you will totally love this machine.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGreat for small businesses. So easy to set up and we find it works quite quickly. Two of us have our phone connected to it and it works fine for both of us. I also do deliveries and take it with me for people to pay at the door and have never had any issues. The battery is amazing we’ve hardly ever had to charge it.

I haven’t gave it 5 stars though as after one year our machine just wouldn’t work anymore. It told us to contact customer support and we were told it wasn’t fixable as some sort of security thing had been triggered which permanently disabled the device. Apparently this happens if there is any impact to the device, however I am 100% certain there was no impact to our device. Yes I took it delivering with me but was always ultra careful with it, there was never any drops or any impact on it so I’m very disappointed with this.

However due to the cheap price I’ve decided to still give it 4 stars, if the same happens again with this device then I wonder if they are automatically set to disable after so long so you have to keep buying new ones? Who knows. I’ll update this if anything happens to our 2nd device but hopefully it’ll be fine.

Golden Review Award: 48 From Our UsersThis is a game of two halves.
On the one hand the machine is exceptionally easy to use, exceptionally convenient, very fast. Basically I cannot fault what it does. I bought three of these, one for each family member to help them in everyday life selling stuff at boot sales and the like. For this it is brilliant especially as there is no ongoing cost of ownership only in each transaction. Also the reporting from SumUp of what you have taken in payments is very good.

But, on the other hand. The commission fee per transaction is very steep. I recently sold a number of items at 450 or thereabouts each. For each one Sum up took c. 8! This is not as bad as some but bear it in mind when working out your sale prices. Also the team at Sumup are very nosy and want to know what you are selling and assume that all users are businesses.

In summary: A very useful and convenient albeit expensive to use machine with no contract – ideal for occasional and/or sporadic sales.
