It is a smaret watch
Having had a recent stroke I am now reliant upon my online calender. The smartwatch is really helpful for this as I get notifications of events which helps me to remember what I am meant to be doing. Useful technology. I am not quite so enamoured with the app which is a bit fiddly and not so easy to use. The app is not quite intuitive for my use but am getting there. Battery life is just superb!
Stylish, Functional, and Long-Lasting battery
The Ticwatch 5 Pro is a sleek and durable smartwatch with an impressive array of features. Its vibrant display and intuitive interface make navigation a breeze, while the long-lasting battery life ensures uninterrupted usage throughout the day.
Equipped with accurate health and fitness tracking capabilities, including step counting, heart rate monitoring, and sleep tracking, the Ticwatch 5 Pro provides valuable insights into one’s well-being. Its built-in GPS is perfect for outdoor activities such as running and cycling.
The seamless integration with smartphones ( Wear OS) allows for easy access to notifications, calls, and voice commands, while also enabling music playback control and message checking directly from the wrist.
In comparison to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, the Ticwatch 5 Pro offers similar health and fitness tracking features, a stylish design, and seamless smartphone integration at a more affordable price point and longer battery life, making it a compelling option for users seeking a reliable and versatile smartwatch.
Superb Android Smartwatch
Got this a couple of weeks ago to replace an aging Huawei Gt that I got for free with a Mate 20 Pro phone at the time. The one thing that always stood out on that watch was the battery life.. Used to get upwards of 7 to 8 days Regularly. This watch is right up there. I charged it a week ago on Tuesday morning around 10 am and after quite a busy week of WhatsApp ing, using to answer the phone, setting my 2 daily walks and constantly changing watch faces to find one I liked, this watch still has 8% left on the following Tuesday at 1pm. Pretty much amazing! People have commented that there’s no Google Assistant as yet but I use my phone for that anyway. Apps and notifications work really well and scrolling through them is smooth and fast. Sleep tracking seems to be good as its on par with my old Huawei. Battery and GPS were poor for the 1st couple of days but has massively improved with a restart. Mobile app is good too, pretty informative.
Very impressed with this watch…
Professional features for everything you would need from a smart watch!
Was looking for a smart watch to help me track my exercise workouts. But am now using it for much more!
Watch was extremely easy to set up and I could pretty much use it straight away. Very well packaged with a cool box design.
Was able to very easily link it with my phone and then tailor it to suit my needs in terms what notifications I want to receive, what apps I want to link and be able to use on it.
Has a very clear first time tutoring/ easy use guide on the watch to walk you through the features.
It has been great tracking heart rate and training intensity which breaks down the different stages of my exercises.
Also great tracking my day to day steps, exercise and active hours as well as giving me reminds if I have been sitting still for too long!
It’s been really useful to have quick reference to my other apps like messages, calendar and reminders at the turn if my wrist. Can also reply to messages, receive calls and even play music.
Really easy to set up and use with the option of using different watch faces to suit your own style. Would definitely recommend it.
If you’ve been thinking of getting a Wear OS Smartwatch, then I’ll keep it simple. This is certainly the best currently out there. In terms of specs and battery life, it’s second to none. However, there are a few things to be aware of.
1. Updates. The company has a following online, and quite a vocal community regarding updates. There has been no mention of Wear OS 4 for this device yet (November 2023) and a large part of the community are unsure about if it will appear.
2. No Voice Assistant. This really bugged me to start with, but given it’s on my phone and smart speaker, this is less of a deal.
3. Low Power LCD. Fantastic option, just wish there were different watch faces for this.
4. I’ve had one or two nights where sleep tracking has not been correct. I am hoping this is a software bug.
Overall, best Wear OS watch out there.
Update 1: Dec 2023. Still love it. The speaker on calls seems a little quite, and I do get random buzzes occasionally, including when the watch loses Bluetooth connection from the phone due to range. Wear OS 3 has just come out for devices that were previously released, so makes me hopeful for Wear OS 4 (and hopefully more).
Best watch I ever owned
I have owned many smartwatches over the years and the best one hands down was the TicWatch Pro 3. So, when I saw that Mobvoi had brought out an upgrade to the Pro 3 I had to get it. I chose the sandstone colour watch as I really like the colour and it stands out well on formal dress as well as casual over the standard black you mostly get with smart watches.
Design
At first look you wouldn’t notice a huge difference between the TicWatch Pro 3 and Pro 5 but there are subtle differences. The watch strap has changed from 22mm to 24mm so all the straps I had for the Pro 3 I can’t re use. Also, the screen has increased in size so the I can’t use up my leftover screen protectors from the Pro 3 but these are minor issues. The rotating crown in replacement of the second button is a great addition. It allows scrolling through apps when in smart mode or in low power mode it can scroll through different tracking metrics.
Screen
The dual display from TicWatch Pro3 which I think was such a game changer is still on the Pro 5 but with some big enhancements. The low power always on LCD can now show live data for heart rate, steps, blood oxygen, calories, and a compass which saves having to go into smart mode view this info aswell as battery saving. Also, when doing a workout, the backlight will change colour based on your heart rate Light Blue – Warming up, Yellow – Fat Burn, Orange – Cardio, Purple – Anaerobic and Red if your heart rate is above 180BPM. The main OLED screen is very snappy and bright. scrolling through the different options is really quick and saw no slow down when open up all the different apps. You can see a big visual upgrade from wear OS 2 on TicWatch Pro 3 to wear 3 on the Pro 5.
Battery
The battery life on this watch is amazing with all tracking features on, notifications throughout the day and tracking daily workouts this watch lasts about 4 days on a single charge. There are alot of settings you can tweak to extend this further like the essential mode disables all smart features but still tracks steps, heart rate and sleep. The watch come with a new fast charge cable that can charge the watch up over 50% in half hour which would give you easily another day or 2 if you are in a hurry.
Health tracking
There are so many different metrics this watch tracks it unbelievable, heart rate, blood oxygen level, stress levels, sleep and even skin temperature. Once you have it all setup you get notifications if it even notices an irregular heartbeat. I have even had it that after a very tiring meeting my watch let me know that my stress levels were high, and I might be de hydrated.
Summary
The TicWatch Pro 3 was an amazing watch but the TicWatch Pro 5 blows it out of the park and is a worthy upgrade. It is the best watch I have owned, and I can’t recommend this watch enough.
Lightning fast, Well built, Competitively Priced - What's not to like!
I’ve had the TWP5 now for a few weeks so I think it’s about time to give it a proper review.
First things first, I’m a serial TicWatch owner, I have (and to some extent still use) an: S2, a Pro 2020, a TWP3 Ultra and now the TWP5. You could say that makes me a bit bias, but it also places me in a good position to review their latest offering.
Now, this thing is a cracking piece of kit, it’s fast (like Smartphone speed of responsiveness), it’s stylish, it’s solid and it’s got some ridiculous battery life. All that whilst still being very competitively priced.
I’ve regularly got 3 days battery life out of it, that’s with all the sensors running 24/7 and also running Sleep as Android every night.
It’s step count seems to be accurate when compared to my other devices and my phone. The haptic feedback seems to have been improved over previous incarnations. It runs WearOS 3 without any struggles and syncs regularly to my phone. (I can’t say I miss Google Assistant, I didn’t use it that much anyway but that’s not a TicWatch decision, Google took that out of everyone’s hands)
I’ve been using the same tempered glass screen protectors from my TWP3 Ultra as (despite what the specs look like online) they have the same sized screen.
The only slightly sad thing is that the watch band size has changed from 22mm to 24mm meaning that all my previous 3rd party bands aren’t compatible, but I found a decent one on Amazon (see photos) which is holding up really nicely.
My only slight niggle is that you have to use a new Mobvoi App which doesn’t have previous data from my other devices in it. However, I’ve been in touch with Mobvoi support and they’ve offered to sync it all over for me as part of the upgrade for the TWP3 Ultra (whenever that happens).
Overall, a really impressive piece of kit, I haven’t used it for any fitness tracking yet because I prefer to use my older (read: “far less expensive to replace”) devices for that, but I can’t fault it.
Excellent smartwatch a definite improvement over the Ticwatch 3
So I have been a long-time Ticwatch user, I got the original Ticwatch and loved the dual display tech there were definite issues with it so each iteration has been an improvement. However, from the 1 to the 3 I would say it was only a slight improvement but I can happily say that from the 3 to 5 it is a massive improvement. From Wear OS improvements to the overall feel and battery life of the watch, I think there has been clear thought to improve the device. Before, I could only get 2 days absolute max on the three but with this, I can get 4 days pretty easily. I don’t use the sleep tracking as I have a Whoop and prefer something small on my wrists. I have most of the sensors turned on all the time, so this is still a very good improvement. The bezel is a nice change although I still don’t use it that much due to being used to the 3 but I think I will over time. The design is nice, although I would have preferred a metal version for that premium feel but even saying that it’s still pretty premium feeling. One thing I have yet to test is water resistance there have been incidents where the 3 had less than stellar water resistance but I have heard this has improved.
One thing I don’t particularly like is the whole lets copy apples push for stuff for hiking its fine but it feels a bit jammed in, I will hopefully test it all when I get hiking again.
I found the fact you don’t use Wear OS app on the phone a little weird and pretty much nowhere explains that you are just told to install the Mobvoi health app which sets it all up but the fact its called mobvoi health is a little weird they should make it more clear that its actually your main watch app
Performance you can tell it is using a newer snapdragon SOC as it is blazingly quick and responsive. Wear OS 3 is a lovely upgrade and it should get the update for Wear OS 4 as I understand it. In all I love it and will stick with Ticwatch over Pixel or Samsung for the time being (pun intended)
Improved watch with realy 4 day battery life
I’ve previously owned the original Ticwatch Pro and the Ticwatch E3 and thoght it was time for an upgrade.
I’ve had this watch nearly a month now and I am generally impressed. With the default wake settings I’m getting 4 full days of use out of the watch. I don’t use the sleep tracking (as I sleep fairly well anyway so don’t really see the need) and am using it for about 2 hours of exercise tracking every charge.
The only real problem I’ve had so far is finding replacement 24mm straps as I don’t like the feel or look of silicone straps though this one seems to feel a little more comfortable than some of the others I’ve tried but unfortunately still as sweaty! I usually go for metal straps and the options in 24mm seen incredibly limited.
Compared to the E3 this watch is much smoother and more responsive so the newer processor definitely makes a difference. Everything opens much quicker!
The screen is much nicer, it’s bright enough to be seen in direct sunshine and is lovely and crisp .
Although the E3 was an upgrade from the original pro I have missed the LCD screen, this one is a step above the one on the tw pro showing a lot more information. I’ve found it particularly useful when excercising as it shows workout time, heart rate and distance etc. on the screen making it clear and quick to glance at outside.
The microphone seems clear enough for calls, a little muffled but no worse than my colleague’s galaxy watch and Alexa hears me well enough so does all I want.
The scroll wheel seems to click nicely and all the buttons have a
Software wise most things work quite well, Google Pay has occasionally refused first time but always worked second time. The scroll wheel/crown works really well scrolling through notifications and the app menus and I’ve found it a lot more useful than I expected, it is a little slow setting the time for alarms and timers so hopefully that’ll be updated in the future.
So other than the odd sizing for the straps and the scroll wheel not operating as quick as I’d like in a couple of places I’m really happy with the watch and it’s definitely an improvement over the E3, even if just for the improved battery life!
Wear OS Finally comes of age!
Wow, finally a Wear OS watch that’s worth owning. It’s excellent value for money too!
This thing really flies, it doesn’t matter what you do to it, there isn’t any lag or stuttering. It just handles everything seamlessly.
Mobvoi have setup absolutely nailed. It just paired up and worked straight out of the box. Having had head-banging frustration with other smartwatches, this was a very welcome surprise (listen up Fitbit). This experience continues with syncing, which just happens. You forget that there’s actually a need to sync because it’s so seamless.
Health tracking works well, correlating closely with my Fitbit but adding a lot more functionality without extorting a subscription. I’d go so far as to say the new sensor is far superior to Fitbit. Sleep tracking is really reliable, no missing data as I’ve experienced with other devices.
GPS is incredible. It’s so fast to respond and is incredibly accurate. I can even get a fix down to a few metres inside my house (and this place is like a Faraday cage)!
Battery life is fantastic for WearOS. I’m getting 2.5 to 3 days with pretty heavy use. That’s on par with my Fitbit when the screen is set to “always on” which was necessary as it was so unreliable at waking up. Using essential mode you can get multiple weeks on a charge while still seeing your essential metrics. Charging is impressively rapid too. You can get a full day from a few minutes if you’re in a rush which is really helpful too.
On the style side, this isn’t an understated shrinking violet of a watch. It’s a beautifully built, chunky hunk with a rugged look that will appeal to outdoor types. Elegant it isn’t, but that’s fine by me. I have quite small wrists for a large man and despite this being quite a large watch, it fits better than the Garmin watch I have and it’s very comfortable to wear, even better than my Fitbit. If you’re a petite person it might not be for you though as it is pretty large.
As for gripes, I have just one: the 24mm strap limits your aftermarket choice at the moment. There are plenty of options out there if you’re willing to wait for AliExpress but you’re not going to find too much available on Amazon yet (though the metal mesh strap in the photos was from Amazon). Sadly you can’t tap in to the huge choice of 22mm straps on the market. This is a very new model though, so I’m sure choice will improve over the next few months.
I have heard complaints that Google Assistant isn’t yet available on Wear 3 OS devices (other than the Pixel). This is no bother to me as I use Alexa which is present. It shouldn’t be a dealbreaker though as you can sideload Assistant if you need it and I’m sure Google will realise they’re shooting themselves in the foot by not encouraging the wider market to use its products now the Pixel is established.
The Pro 5 is a LOT of watch for significantly less than most of its competition, and it’s got all of the latest technologies available. When you consider those specifications, this is amazing value for money. The hardware is going to cope with anything thrown at it for years.
All in all, this is a solid 5 stars for every metric, I can thoroughly recommend.
Pixel watch killer !
I have previously had the TicWatch 2020, the E3 and the Ticwatch Pro 3. All of which I have found very good at what they do. However I purchased the Pixel Watch at launch and that has been my go to for nearly the last 12 months. This was until the TicWatch Pro 5 entered the mix !!
After just a week of using the new TicWatch, the Pixel watch is now lying in the back of the drawer.
The combination of better processor, bigger screen and vastly superior battery life has the new TicWatch Pro 5 as my new daily go to.
Battery life has to be the biggest improvement, it vastly outweighs all the competition. This thing lasted 4 full 24hr days straight out of the box. Other watches need charging every evening so what is the point of sleep tracking if the watch needs to be on the charger ? Speaking of which, the sleep tracking feature through Mobvoi’s own app is amazing. The watch is comfortable enough to wear whilst sleeping and you really do not need to worry about it running out of charge.
Wear OS 3 is a great upgrade and runs very smoothly with the new Snapdragon processor and the big screen is clear and adjusts well in bright light.
Google maps on this watch is brilliant with the turn by turn directions being very clear. For me this is so welcome when in unknown areas when you don’t want to get your phone out whilst walking down the street.
Another really useful feature I found is the built in compass, it is extremely acurate and I have been very impressed.
The rotating crown is another great feature that I am starting to use more and more. Although the same feature was available on the Pixel watch I never used it because I found it inaccessible. No such problem here.
A couple of other things before I wrap up. The spotify app runs really well and gives me control of any device I am casting or streaming to. I can also attest to the heart rate monitor being extremely accurate after having an issue the other evening involving the paramedics and their ECG maching which mirrored my extremely high heart rate as reported by the watch.
Going forward, this is my new favourite watch and will be my daily go to from now on.
Well done Mobvoi you have produced another spectacular piece of kit.
Feature rich, extremely tough and durable
I purchased this watch three weeks ago and have wore it daily, however held off doing a review until I returned from a water based holiday where I was able to put the pro 5 through a thorough durability test.
The battery.
I charged the watch the evening before leaving and with the watch in essential mode at night time, I had my notifications delivered whilst in range of my phone during the day and still enough battery remaining at the end of the week.
It has fast charging, so like most high end smart phones you able to put a really good charge into it in a very short space of time – a nice touch.
Appearance.
It comes with a black strap and I was able to totally change its appearance, going from active to dress with the purchase of an additional 24mm quick release strap (shown in photo) and setting a new watch face from a long list of attractive designs.
In essential mode, you can choose which background colour you want to display, allowing the user a high degree of personalization.
Durability.
The watch was exposed to a combination of salt and fresh water throughout the week, with no I’ll effects, and unlike other smart watches didn’t feel heavy on the wrist and it was very inconspicuous.
It has taken a few falls from bedside cabinets onto hard floor surfaces – no scratches or dings or broken screens, so it’s more than capable for anything life can throw at it….or you.
Features.
With Google pay linked, I didn’t need to carry any cards with me. So it was one less thing to remember to take.
Bluetooth automatically linked to my phone when in range, so no messing about with re-pairing.
Scrolling through the menu and the apps has been made extremely easy via simply turning the crown on the watch. The crown can also be pressed when wanting to make a selection.
The crown doesn’t protrude that far out, presumably to stop accidently being pressed with extreme hand movements.
The screen response is slick and quick with no lags or delays from interaction to delivery.
Tic excercise has a host of workout activities you can track against.
There is something for everyone, unless your an astronaut and want to track space walking.
The heart rate monitor can be set to always on and depending on which watch face you set, it can be in a very prominent position.
One Tap Measurement checks your Blood Oxygen , Heart Rate, Respitory rate and Stress levels simultaneously so you can keep an eye on your heart health. Amazing from something so small sitting on your wrist.
Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase
It’s a great piece of kit that has been made to last.
I would recommend the Pro 5 to anyone, whether it’s for a first time smart watch purchase or for the smartwatch aficionado.
Lightweight, elegant, improved
I’ve been purchasing Ticwatches for a while now.
So far they’ve been all been great on battery, a great diversity in functionality and improving with each iteration.
The Ticwatch Pro 5 is another good example of that.
It’s very lightweight, more so than the Ticwatch Pro 3 (the best one I have with which I can compare), the bracelet it comes with is comfortable and it still has 2 buttons but with an integrated novelty: a rotating crown.
This rotating crown is, from my perspective, the biggest novelty in this iteration of the watch and works as an alternative to slide through the screen with your fingers.
Standard behaviour the scroll is for vertical options but you can configure it for horizontal scrolling (e.g.: scroll through the different tiles).
It’s not the most practical with how small it is but it works well and when you need to scroll a lot turns out very useful.
I had a small issue where it once stopped working. Initially I was afraid it was a mechanical issue, as I stopped feeling the feedback, but a simple restart of the watch made everything fine.
Another great feature I personally love is the “Essential Mode”.
Pretty much the watch has a power saving mode that greatly extends it’s battery but now, beyond simply giving the time, it also keeps track of steps and pulse while in this mode.
It has some extra configurations where it disables the background light during sleep for example.
For the time being I also find it to be more fluid than my other watch, which might be a matter of apps installed and what’s being used in the background.
Beyond these, it has a barometer, GPS, sleep tracking and whole lot of other features to long to list and that will take a long time to try them all out.
A downside that I expect might affect some people, it’s that it’s simply not compatible with WearOS android app on the phone, as it crashes if you attempt to synchronize / add it.
I’ve spoke with customer support and it seems they intend for this watch to be used the Mobvoi Health app.
This app though seems to allow synchronization with other apps and health related services so it should cover most scenarios.
Overall I can’t say it’s a revolution from previous versions but it’s a great watch, with great autonomy (3 days or more before I have to charge with a more “superficial” usage) and a pleasure to interact with, even more with the rotating crown.
I’m not a sports person, so for more casual usage I can say for sure it’s very suitable for day-to-day usage it should meet most more common demands.
PROS
– Rotating crown!
– Faster / more fluid (so far at least)
– Essential mode
– Takes vital measurements (pulse, etc.) even while in essential mode
– Lightweight
– Compatible with charging cables from previous versions
CONS
– Requires Mobvoi Health app. Not compatible with WearOS android app (makes it crash when attempting to connect it)
– Rotating crown might be a bit finnicky, once it stopped working and had to restart once to get it to work, but might be software level so addressable
An impressive smartwatch !!!
I got my hands on this watch a week ago, all thanks to a recommendation from a friend. And let me tell you, when it comes to tech these days, my expectations are pretty high. Well, this product didn’t just meet them; it exceeded them in some truly impressive ways. So, after giving it a proper test run and exploring all its nooks and crannies, I’m excited to share my detailed review.
The TicWatch Pro 5 exudes elegance with its knurled bezel and sturdy Gorilla Glass. It’s built tough, adhering to MIL-STD-810H specs, and can handle water like a champ with its 5ATM water resistance. The real game-changer, though, is the rotating crown that adds a fresh layer of usability to the second LCD screen. This upgrade isn’t just about saving battery; it’s about getting quick access to crucial information with ease. And let me tell you, the dual display is a sight to behold. It effortlessly switches between the essential LCD screen and the full-fledged OLED functionality.
Running on Wear OS 3, this watch offers all the regular apps you’d expect, plus access to the Google Play Store. The Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset, backed by 2GB of RAM and a generous 32GB of storage, ensures things run buttery smooth. The UI is super responsive, and notifications come through like lightning.
Managing your phone’s media has never been easier; it’s a piece of cake using the watch. You can pause, skip tracks, and adjust the volume with zero hassle. Plus, if you’re into Bluetooth headphones, you can connect them easily via the Connectivity menu. And with 2GB of RAM under the hood, you can even download music from Spotify or YouTube Music directly to the watch. That’s right, no need to carry your phone during workouts anymore.
Speaking of workouts, this product’s water resistance at 5 Atmospheres puts it right up there with the top-tier sports watches. It’s clear that they’ve gone the extra mile to create a rugged design that’s ready to roll in all sorts of environments.
Charging? A breeze. The new fast charging feature is a standout. During my time with it, the smartwatch mode easily lasted me around 3 days, just as advertised. And you know what helped? Turning off the always-on screen, giving the tilt-to-wake feature a break, and using the tilt-to-lightup backlight instead. The latter is a brilliant touch; it saves battery while keeping usability intact.
In a nutshell, this product has set a whole new bar for performance and features. Between its impressive battery life, seamless mode switching, water resistance, and intuitive design, it truly stands out. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or simply want a dependable smartwatch, this gem delivers. It’s obvious that the manufacturer’s commitment to innovation and user satisfaction shines through every single aspect of this exceptional creation.
Powerful, Reliable Beast as a Smart Wrist Watch
It takes bit of time to compare two products of the same company old vs new. I have been the user of TicWatch Pro 3 GPS for two and half years. It really did good in terms of fulfilling its purpose of being a reliable smart watch. It was about time when I thought to revisit the market and find something better as battery of TicWatch Pro 3 GPS started bothering me a bit though the watch is still in great condition. In brand space with medium to high price range, Apple and Samsung leads the way. Being technology enthusiast, I took time and did my research of comparing of two brands Vs TicWatch Pro 5 before I decide to buy. After week+ of online research checking reliability, response time of watch apps, battery life and scalability. I found the some pleasantly surprising detail of TicWatch Pro 5:
* 1.43-inch AMOLED+FSTN dual layer display of The Ticwatch Pro 5 offers a circular touchscreen AMOLED face with impressive crispness, but it has more up to its sleeve in the form of a dual-layer display like my Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS. Ticwatch Pro 3 offered the same, and it essentially switches to a second display layer when the first is not in use.
* The Global positioning services (with GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo providing the same excellent worldwide connectivity as some of the best Garmin watches) more than capable of tracking location with pinpoint accuracy.
* Its rotating crown is a blessing for navigating lengthy lists of menu options or notifications and offers a subtle vibration when in use. It’s a small touch, but it’s appreciated.
* The claimed battery life of 80 hrs
After all the research, I purchased this watch from Amazon as price dropped during the time, I was comparing it with Samsung new launch of galaxy 6 watch. After purchase and weeklong use, I found the following:
* It’s easy to get started on the watch, with a rapid pairing process that felt so quick I felt sure something wasn’t configured properly. Post its pairing and system update, It took some time for me to unfold watch better side and every unfolding progressively increased my happiness of buying this watch.
* During my Gym time with the Ticwatch Pro 5, I tested it with a variety of weight workouts and some running and cycling for cardio. Whatever your level of fitness or interest in getting fitter, the Ticwatch Pro 5 writes its data into the Mobvoi Health app. Watch one tap measurement also is exciting which gives you quick info about heart rate, blood oxygen and other things. Added to this, Mobvoi app though not most exciting app to look at, but it certainly tracks enough metrics for pro users to learn about their body’s rhythms. Activity is measured in Active Hours, minutes of structured exercise, and steps.
* Because I have mild sleep apnoea, for me measuring sleep quality sounds like great tool. TicWatch Pro 5 offered me with different coloured sections indicating light sleep, deep sleep, REM and time awake. It also provides this information as a bar chart, with a timeline of heart rate while I slept. It’s all standard stuff, but comprehensively – if unexcitingly – laid out for you.
The Snapdragon W5+ chip keeps switching between apps and menus snappy, and installing fresh ones is as easy as you’d expect on Wear OS, too. The Ticwatch Pro 5 pulls data from sensors including, but not limited to, heart rate, skin temperature, Sp02, and GPS. Watch has got great processing ability, 32 GB storage and 2GB RAM, which will support scalability as technology keeps evolving.
The 628mAh battery inside the Ticwatch Pro 5 with active screen on lasted for 40+ hours. It means, with dual layer mode on it can easily live up to 72+ hours.
Overall, I am loving this watch. The only downside is watch strap and Wear OS version 11, I hope to see some improvement on it.
THE best WearOS watch out there!
I had the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra since December 2021 and it’s still going strong. Just decided I needed an upgrade coming up to the 2yr mark and it was an obvious choice to stay within the Mobvoi range due to their reliability, so it was a no brainer to chose this watch to upgrade too. And I wasn’t wrong!
The watch arrived in a different packaging than the last iterations and it’s something small, but I loved it. A long, thin box meaning that it laid flat during transit. Inside the box, came the watch (straps already fitted), along with the newer USB Quick Charge Cable and the manuals.
Battery Life – almost 3 days in full digital mode. And that’s using the watch for phone calls, replying to messages, notifications, health tracking and Google Pay (or Wallet as it’s now called). I mean, that is seriously impressive. What I think sets the TicWatch range above most, if not all, other Smartwatch manufactures is the dual screen. The Ultra Low Power screen operates most of the times as an Always-On Display. By raising your arm/wrist, the watch will illuminate with a colour depending on your heart rate (nice touch!). The actual shiny, smart watch face is only visible when you actually need it. This really helps the true almost 3 day battery life (in my case) work perfectly.
Apps and Performance – The new Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1, along with 2GB RAM makes this a worthy upgrade from my last TicWatch alone. The watch is snappy, not laggy in any way. Waking up from essential mode takes around 4 – 5 seconds, a massive improvement from my last TicWatch. Opening and closing apps just works. Having Google Play available is a huge thing for me. Being able to download apps directly onto the watch, without having to utilise my phone when I am out and about is fantastic. Having a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I am always worried about dropping it when in a rush at the shops, or just wanting to quickly check why my phone notified me. But being able to open basic apps (Maps, Payments, Spotify, Stocard, WhatsApp (FULL WHATSAPP!) and SMS messages from my wrist within seconds is a breeze. Strangely, there is no Google Assistant with this watch though. Having looked, it appears to be only on Google/Samsung watches, but cannot find anything that says it’s an exclusive option to them but it is something I miss as I run a complete smarthome ecosystem.
Health Tracking – Not something I usually use a lot of, but I am pretty sure Mobvoi have upgraded and facelifted their health tracking apps. It’s a lot more refined, cleaner and easy to use. There is an app, out of the box, to sync Mobvoi into or out of other heath tracking apps like Samsung or Google Fit, which appears to work really well too. The heartrate tracking seems to be spot on too. TicOxygen is another app I have found really useful too, which I now have running 24/7. There are quite a few TicApps includes, some would call this bloatware and it’s mildly annoying to have to scroll through them all – Maybe something Mobvoi can combine into a single or few apps?
Other features – The digital crown is brilliant. Responsive, quick and seamless. Makes using the watch a lot better than my previous TW 3. Fast charging is true fast charging. Showing the charge percentage as a decimal number is actually quite cool too. The watch is comfortable and although it’s bigger than my last watch I do not notice that. I don’t find myself moving or adjusting the strap or shaking my wrist as I wear this watch either. The black watch, with a red circle around the digital crown is perfect – Black and Red is certainly my dual colour choice – Something really small, but worth mentioning.
I am not sure when the next Mobvoi watch will be coming – But they have a lot of work to do if they think they can beat the TicWatch Pro 5. It’s a brilliant watch, with brilliant features at a brilliant price point. If you are in the market for a new WearOS watch and have a Android device (it’s not compatible with iOS) then look no further than this watch. Honestly, you will not be disappointed.
15 min of in depth video review. What a beast!
Dear, all,
What a beauty of a watch. At first glance, the visual difference is not that major. Same colour, the same grooves but there is only one button that sticks out and another one that is flushed with the side of the watch. The main difference is that the side button that is sticking out is turning and you can use that function to scroll up and down. The bracelet is now 24 mm, the old version was 22 mm. There is a ceramic sensor on the back of the watch that does more than the previous version. The watch has a speaker that you can have set to ring when you get calls or notifications. The quality of the call when you talk from the watch is good and the caller has no issues hearing you. There is no independent LTE function which means you cannot have a different number on your watch. The watch is reliable on your phone and the Bluetooth connectivity.
Summary of the watch + 2 main positive aspects:
The two main aspects are battery life and the quality of the system.
So in the video, I told you that I had charged my watch at 11 a.m. on Sunday and on Wednesday at 5 p.m. I had 30% of the battery left. Actually, I had 20% left around 8 pm. During these 4 days, I had the wifi activated (for an upgrade) for about 12 hours. Every day I had Bluetooth for nearly 10 hours. At home, I turn everything off because I am not using the watch. From 11 pm to 5:30 am the watch is in stand-by mode which saves a lot of battery. The dual display is also updated with a new layout and new functions. From the scrolling key, you can swipe through all the displays that will show various information.
The second part is the quality of the system. The watch has no lag, no issues, and nothing detected. At this moment at this written review I had my watch for 5 days and everything went smoothly.
The watch has a lot of functions like O2 level, pulse, compass, altimeter, barometer, stress level, and sleep tracking. Also if you have Mobvoi’s treadmill you can pair your watch and monitor your progress. There are plenty of tracking activities to choose from. The watch quickly detects what are you doing, running, power walking, or cycling and the speed of detection is impressive. I have to test other types of sports to see how accurate this is.
There is a new software that allows you to connect your watch to your phone. There are new watch faces, but more can be installed via the TimeShow app.
The watch has WearOS 3 by Google and from the first minute of using it, you can tell there are a lot of improvements. Smooth transitions, no lag, new layout. Overall is a big improvement. GPS is here and it is fairly accurate, but this depends on your connectivity with the satellites.
All notifications are nicely displayed and you get more info than before. You can have WhatsApp installed and the layout of the app is similar to the one on the phone. In the video, you get more details about that.
One downside that may or may not be changed is the fact that the watch has no Google Assistant. If the old version had this watch does not have one.
What I would like to see from Mobvoi is to give us the option of customising the bracelet and creating a miniature ecosystem for this beautiful device.
On the old version TicWatch 3 Pro Ultra, I could see my emails from Gmail, and FB Messenger, but with this one, I could not figure out how to install Gmail on it. It seems that I cannot find it on PlayStore.
Overall the good aspects are many and this is a great viable choice for an Android SmartWatch. If you are not bothered about Google Assistant this is an excellent choice.
I discovered smart watches many years ago and I wouldn’t go back to an analog watch now…. I find a smart watch offers so much more information than a traditional analog or digital watch. I love ability to get notifications, weather updates, health and fitness tracking … and so much more.
I have had four different smart watches to date. My last watch (that I have been using for two years – and still looks great) is a Mobvoi Tickwatch Pro 3 GPS. As I have been so happy with my last TicWatch, I decided to treatmyself to the latest Ticwatch Pro 5 model…. and can happily say that I very pleased with my purchase.
I was initially concerned that the jump from my Ticwatch Pro3 to the Ticwatch Pro 5 would be a minor one, but thankfully I was wrong… the new Ticwatch Pro 5 offers a lot more functionality and improvements over my previous model:
The Main OLED screen:
The new OLED Ticwatch screen is bright and fluid. The pixel density seems a lot more detailed than my old smartwatch (especially when showing notifiactions).
The Low Power Screen:
I don’t know how they do it, but Mobvoi have a ingenious system where they overlay a very low power LCD style screen over the top of the OLED colour screen. This allows the watch to display genearl information (such as the time) without wasting lots of power. The watch can be put into this mode to enable it to run for many days (even weeks) without charge (great if you are going somewhere without power, like a festival). This low power LCD screen was available on my previous Ticwatch Pro 3, but the background colour was fixed and the information was very limited. One the Ticwatch Pro 5 Mobvoi have taken this feature to another level – the low power screen can now display, heartbeheart rate, compass bearing, blood oxygen level and calories (all great if you are an out doors type). One additional feature that I love on the low power screen is that the default back light colour can now also be changed ( I have mine set to red so it doesn’t distract so much in the dark – and can improve your night vision). I did notice that when the watch detects that you are training (and automatically kicks in the training monitor) the LCD backlight colour will change depending on your heart rate (Light Blue – Warming Up (<100BPM), Yellow - Fat Burn (>100BPM), Orange – Cardio (>150BPM), Purple – Anerobilc (>170BPM) and (>180 BPM) Red when your heartrate is dangerously elevated.
This low power second screen mode is the real advantage Mobvoi offers over the competion – and its the feature that really distinguishes the watch from others.
Operating System:
The Ticwatch Pro 5 is complete with the latest version of Wear OS from Android. The notifications and layout seem to be improved over my previous Android watch. The processor is quick and responsive with no noticable lag when operating the touch screen, buttons and digital crown.
Hardware:
Having owned a Ticwatch Pro 3 for the last two years I have no fear that The Ticwatch Pro 5 will not be as solidly built (if not better). All of the Ticwatch Pro 5’s materials seem well finished and offer great syle and quality. The silicon strap is comfortable and easily changed out by its quick release method.
I have fairly small wrist, and the Ticwatch Pro 5 doesn’t look out of place or too bulky.
The new Ticwatch Pro 5 now offers a digital crowm that can be used as a user input method. This is a really nice feature to have (especially in the winter when you have gloves on, making it difficult to accuratley control the screen with touch alone).
The new Ticwatch Pro 5 has some really useful sensor hardware upgrades in the form of a digital compass, barometer and altimeter (great for outdoor adventurers).
Apparently the Ticwatch Pro 5 also includes a body temperature sensor, but I haven’t seen where or how to access this data yet (I’ll keep looking).
Battery life & charging:
The battery life on my Ticwatch Pro 3 has always been great (lasting for two days without charge), thanks to its low power screen switching. So far the Ticwatch Pro 5 seem equally matched, if not better…. I will report back what kind of battery life I get when I have lived with it a bit longer.
The magnetic charger socket is simple to use and connects solidly to the watch when charging (the magnetic lock pulls the socket into place when you hold it close to the back of the watch). The charging seems very quick (pushing around 60% battery top-up in only 25 minutes).
Software & Features:
Mobvoi offer some great life style and health applications that are really useful (such as sleep monitoring, physical training & heart rate monitoring). But, this being an Android watch you can always choose to use the google or third party versions if you prefer (your choice).
Summary:
A really great smart watch offering from Mobvoi. A perfect purchase :0)
Better Than Google Pixel Watch!
One of my favourite features of the Ticwatch series is the dual screen. It gives the feel of a classic analogue watch with all the features of a premium smartwatch under the hood. This has a huge effect on the battery life. I’ve had a few different WearOS watches, most recently the Google Pixel watch which was giving me around 24 hours on a full charge. The Ticwatch Pro 5 was giving me at least 3 days due to the battery saving second screen. The second screen also has more features than previous Ticwatch models. You get your steps, heart rate, calories etc. The Ticwatch also has an essential mode so if the battery drops down below a 5% it restricts the smart features to keep the watch running for longer. Although if I charge it on a Friday it easily lasts until Monday which is brilliant.
I love the size of the display. The Pixel Watch feels really small in comparison. I’ve had it for over a month now and it’s held up really well to bumps and knocks. I’ve worn it to formal events and had it up the hills at the weekend and it looks great at both. The AMOLED display is really crisp and clear due to the 36mm display. The strap is really comfortable to wear too. Nice and soft but can also be changed out easily if you want to buy a different strap and there’s a few colours available on Mobvoi’s website.
Another reason I bought this watch is the rotating crown. The Pixel Watch has this too but with the larger screen on the Ticwatch it works great and really smooth and is great for navigating through the menus.
I love being able to use Google Wallet with the Ticwatch and it’s really convenient and haven’t had any issues with it to date.
I’ve also got the Mobvoi incline treadmill and the watch syncs perfectly with it and your metrics display on the watch in real time as you are running. The Mobvoi health app is great. There are loads of different sports/activities you can do which work great on the ones I’ve tried.
This the first smartwatch to use the new Snapdragon W5+ chipset out and it really shows. Compared to the Pixel watch the Ticwatch is much smoother and switches between apps quicker than the Pixel watch.
The charging is really quick and when charging the watch displays a percentage in a 00.00% format which I really like so you can see how quickly the watch is charging.
Compared to other smartwatches on the market I think the Ticwatch Pro 5 offers loads of features, speed and battery life. I’d definitely recommend this watch to anyone looking for a better alternative to the Samsung Galaxy watch or Google watch options.
An impressive smartwatch
Pros: This is an amazing smart watch. The snappiness and responsiveness of the device is incredible. TicWatch continue to use some of the latest processors to maximise performance.
The improvements to the low power mode second LCD screen are amazing – more detail at your fingertips, quicly access heartrate real time monitoring, compass, and choose your backlight colour. The colour changing for heart rate zones during exercise is a great feature.
Scheduling going into essentials mode when not on your wrist is a great idea for anyone who doesn’t want to wear a watch to bed, but can’t be bothered turning the thing off every night. Really helps extend the battery life. It wakes from this mode very fast too, like 5-10 seconds.
MORE SENSORS! Built in altimiter/barometer, skin temperature (although no native app to read this as far as I can see). More detail for you to access, and calibration of altimiter is available.
The crown is a feature I’d heard other people talk about being a necessity on smart watches. While I still don’t believe it is essential, it does make navigation a heck of a lot faster.
Audio quality taking calls in on par with my smartphone in speaker mode. Crisp and clear for both parties.
More storage means more music for phone free workouts, which is great. Amazon Music app works well on the device.
Cons: The watch strap was a disappointment for me, for two reasons. The one it shipped with is an incredibly basic rubber-silicone band. Nothing wrong with it, but very basic. Much less nice looking than the one I got with my TicWatch Pro 3.
Additionally, as this was an upgrade for me, the watch band has increased from 22mm to 24mm. This means that none of my bands for the previous model will fit. 24mm also appears to be an ‘outlier’ size, I am seeing far fewer options that fit. I loved the 22mm leather-silicone hybrid I have for my previous watch but haven’t found a suitable equivalent yet.
The sole button isn’t programmable. It’s just your last used app list button. The TicWatch Pro 3 hada user customisable button to call you favourite app. It’s possibly unneccessary for that function now as a press of the crown brins up the apps, and you can pin favourites to the top now.
PIN/pattern needed now, even if you’re not using Google Pay. If you take the watch off, it will want that PIN/pattern as soon as you put it back on. Security wise, probably not a terrible idea but could get irritating and it may be something that can be turned off.
Needs a new app on phone to connect. Old app that ran the TicWatch Pro 3 cannot connect to this device. Not the end of the world I guess, unless you plan on running an older device as well. The good news is the new app records more details on you exercises.
Overall, I would highly recommend this watch. My cons list is just niggles and minor issues. The improvements over the TicWatch Pro 3 are great and may be worth considering an upgrade. If you’re on the original TicWatch Pro, this is a worthy successor.
Best yet!
I’ve had the original Tic Watch Pro, the one after that I can’t remember the name of, the Pro 3, the E3 and now the Pro 5 and I can honestly say that this is best yet!
Despite a faster processor, which really shows in the responsiveness of the interface and and the performance of the apps, the battery life is phenomenal. I have just about every feature (I think as I found some more recently) turned on and the watch is still giving nearly 3 days per charge. This is obviously helped with the clever dual screen design, but the new scheduled sleep mode that prevents the watch needlessly waking up as a result of your movement when sleeping I think probably has a lot to do with it. This feature does now prevent alarms, sleep monitoring etc.
If you add in the extra features like barometer and altimeter etc that have been added, the increased battery life from the 3 Pro is even more incredible. When it does come to needing to charge the watch, it is fast – see the video for yourself!
As you can see from the photos, there is a lot more information on the screen than previous models, even in the reduced power mode. I thought at first this might be too cluttered, but it’s not at all.
The watch is as comfortable/unnoticeable to wear as the previous versions, and I’m a fan of the revised design with a cleaner neater bezel and the multi function crown wheel and single button. The multifunction crown gives a nice accurate navigational control to the watch. I’m so glad that Mobvoi haven’t been tempted to go with anything daft like the weird slap action that you see Apple watch users doing – I’d personally feel a bit of a fool keep hitting my watch!
If I had to find fault with the watch I can only find 2, and that’s digging deep, the first is the crown that I just said I liked. If you’re hand is folder back for any reason, then maybe because of the position I wear the watch it can register as a push of the crown button. However I appreciate that there is nowhere else to put it (hence all watches have it in the same place) that wouldn’t look wrong and would be harder to use. The other (which maybe something that I can’t adjust but haven’t found out how to) is the automatic activity tracking when walking. I walk at about a sustained 3 MPH when walking the dog, but the watch doesn’t always pick up the activity or may incorrectly detect the activity as having finished. I don’t really consider this a major issue however as why would I want to record each time I do a dog walk, it’s not as though I’m trying to improve my time for the same walk!
A serious upgrade from the Ticwatch 3 series - Evolution & Revolutio
How do you take what was a fantastic smart watch in the Ticwatch 3 Pro & Ultra and make an even better and more appealing option?
That was the question I asked myself before taking the leap with the latest release from Ticwatch.
As an avid fan of their previous watches and having owned most recently the Ticwatch 3 Ultra GPS which is a fantastic watch in its own right I was keen to see what improvements the latest addition would bring and I am gobsmacked with both the little differences where clearly any niggles with the last gen have been careful considered and improved on, some of these changes could be considered evolutionary ie: faster processor, quicker charging, better response and performance and increased storage. All nice to have and good reasons for an upgrade especially if you have older models such as the Ticwatch 3 Pro which I have owned but the real game changers are the evolutionary changes, The new wear OS 3 and the rotating crown as well as the improved always on second screen which now supports multiple options you can scroll through thanks to the rotating crown.
Overall I would say if you are in the market for a new new smartwatch either as an upgrade to an existing one or a first time purchase this is the only real contender in my opinion.
Main Features:
The round face dual display, AMOLED & Backlit LED second screen for low power use
For those not familiar with the Ticwatch range, this has always been one of the unique selling points and is one of the main features that first attracted me.
It gives you the best of both worlds with a vivid hi def AMOLED screen allowing for clear visibility and plenty of information viewable in all lighting conditions, if you decide to only use the main screen which you can by setting that as the screen used for always on screen in the display settings, in this mode you can comfortably get through a whole day possibly even two or three depending on the Always on watch face you choose. I like to have mine with an analogue face that looks identical whether you are in ambient mode or not. I have found since getting the Ticwatch Pro 5 that with the amount of information on the the low power display and the speed with which it transitions this is no longer so important so I tend to use the low power option day to day and change the face if i am going out and want something that looks a little bit less like a smartwatch.
Wear OS 3 – This is the current OS released by google and brings some noticeable changes in terms of both the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). I have found the watch to watch much better with certain apps and much more achievable directly on the watch.
Great examples of this are the new dedicated app for whatsapp which is wear os 3 only and allows you to browse and reply to conversations in a much more feature rich way. I recently left my phone at home but since the venue i was in had wifi I was able to stay connected and reply to conversations with my phone 10 miles away!
I have also found the tiles for navigation and music control to be far superior and feature rich.
The included spotify app also has additional functionality and allows for offline music to be played directly from the device, I believe this too is a new Wear OS 3 feature
I predominantly use my watch for notifications and to control my phone functions such as music whilst it is still in my pocket but am pleased to see all the key functions of a fitness and lifestyle tracker are present. Step counter, heart rate monitor, SPo2 levels, sleep tracking etc. I am also keen to try out the new compass feature which should greatly aid in navigation.
Overall I can’t recommend the Ticwatch Pro 5 highly enough, a most definite worthy successor to the Ticwatch pro 3 Ultra as the best smartwatch on the market!
Excellent battery fastest processor large display smartwatch for both casual and fitness use
I am more of a casual user. Why do I like it? It situates itself between the Samsung and Pixel watch equivalent on the market and works with Android; it features the fastest processor on the market Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1, Google Wear OS 3, a lot of memory (RAM: 2GB / ROM: 32GB) and because of these it’s a fast responsive watch. More of it while it weighs only 44.3g, the fast charging battery (up to 65% in 30 min) accommodates 628mAh which in my case with moderate use would give me minimum 70 hours of use, (48h while occasionally listening to Spotify with my earbuds connected to the watch when I walk in the park or taking some phone calls on my watch; 7 days or longer with essential mode activated/scheduled as it comes with the unique feature of having a real battery saver: the dual screen display like it’s family predecessors). I like it for the casual look (with multiple options to choose many faces) while the sensors within make it possible to be used for multiple fitness exercises tracking too (even pairing with the Mobvoi treadmill); interesting feature: when I was tracking a workout, the backlight of the low-power display changed depending on my heart rate. It feels light on my wrist and for its casual use I intend to swap the silicone strap with a leather one (24mm). According to its producer it comes with military grade durability and water resistant at 5ATM making it suitable for swimming, so I guess it can handle a rainy British summer without worry. Talking about rain: the watch comes with a rotating crown simplifying the navigation through the app and menus when the display gets wet; it offers haptic feedback and even the option to navigate through the readings on the LCD display itself. To all the above I can add that I enjoy all the previous features SpO2, Heart Rate, steps/calories counting, Google maps app, Google Wallet existing in Ticwatch Watches series (the small budget E3 or the Pro 3 GPS and Pro 3 Ultra) with a few mentions: this time the Pro 5 comes with a compass and barometer and a new reading that’s called VO2 max which is an indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness. As a minus I found out that Google assistant is missing in this version of Wear OS 3 but as a plus I saw I could receive now Google reminders on my watch (bug fixed) and I could install Google Home on my watch to control my smart Google enabled devices from my wrist. For people that want to experiment, one could install on this watch, from the store, an unofficial Alexa Assistant (Ultimate Alexa) that responds quite well to prompts (including setting reminders and controlling smart devices). Overall, I am impressed with the battery life, fast charging feature and the general responsiveness of this watch, the stylish look, and the durability of this watch. I haven’t had the chance to test it extensively against its competitors yet, but on its own so far it makes a good watch, I am happy with it and hopefully Google Assistant will come back soon with a future update.
I was going on holiday and noticed the Ticwatch Pro 5 was out, and decided I fancied an upgrade as a treat. I’m a massive data nerd, and love reviewing my gym workouts at the end of the week to make sure I’m on track to meet my stamina goals in preparation for the London Marathon, which is in April next year, as well as track my sleep patterns and so far, the watch has been accurate and exceptionally useful in this regard. I’ve walked about 7 kilometers per day for the past few days of my holiday to the Scottish Highlands and I’m honestly so happy with how things have turned out regarding the watch. I’ve not needed to recharge it for my entire 4-day holiday, it’s comfortable on my wrist, it doesn’t slide about, it’s bright enough to see even in the blazing Scottish summer, it isn’t heavy, it looks good, it’s very comfortable and really easy to use.
What a fantastic sports watch! This is an incredible upgrade from the Pro 3G I’ve used previously and the other brands before that. It’s sleek, it’s fast, it’s customisable, its battery is significantly better than its predecessor (the Pro 3 Ultra was my go-to for a few years, I’ve nothing bad to say about it, either). This watch is capable of what I’ve come to expect from a top-of-the-line Sports watch like the Pro 5. It measures my steps, heartrate, workout sessions, sleep schedule (incredibly important to me), sleep quality, stress levels, SpO2 levels and more. As a bonus, my old spare charging cable still works for this newer model, which means I won’t need to source a new spare or intentionally pack the cable that came with the watch whenever I’m away, either. I’ve had it for about ten days now and have thoroughly put it through its paces on land and in the pool / beach, and have had absolutely zero issues or problems with it. It also has a fully functional Play Store that can download apps or different watch faces, though it does come with some neat initial options, I’m quite happy with the default for now because I can just glance at the stats I want to know and see for the day, no fiddling around with my phone or opening individual apps on the watch since it’s all available for me on the watch face itself. Also, it’s really easy to setup a card for contactless payment, which has saved me from needing to carry my phone or wallet everywhere.
Of extra and particular note to my own use, I use an audio recorder app (Easy Voice Recorder Pro) to record my diary and take live notes at my job, and I’m extremely happy with the microphone quality of the watch. It syncs the recording automatically over to my phone without any difficulty or issue, which is a problem I’ve had with a competitors watch in the past. It can connect to WIFI on its own, but I don’t see the point and have it simply pairing with my phone when they are both in range of each other, which is almost always.
I’m headed camping in a month, and the built-in compass will certainly come in useful, too.
In summary; In my own opinion, a good sports watch needs to be able to record your steps, exercise times and heart rate. As a bonus, it needs to be able to record your workouts, determine the difference between a workout and a simple walk from A to B, and determine your location for all of the above. It needs to be capable of doing all this with minimal input after the initial setup of the watch and without constant fiddling with settings…
A GREAT sports watch needs to be able to do all of the above and significantly more Which is the category the Ticwatch Pro 5 lands in. I’m thoroughly happy with this purchase.
There’s a lot of photos in these reviews, so here are a few from me, too.
Best Ticwatch ye
Our household have been avid Ticwatch fans for a good few years now having tried the C2, GT, Pro3 Ultra 4G and GPS model. The Pro 5 is the best yet.
I’ve been using it for 5 days and had to charge it for the first time last night, so that was getting on for 4 solid days of wear. Big tick, and improvement on the last version and by far exceeding anything that friends get out of other branded watches. Ultra low power display working hard there. Oh and it charges quick too. Tick, tick. I guess with heavy fitness tracking this might dip but as this was it’s first outing, I’d say it was under fairly constant use.
It’s by far the best looking Tic watch, in my opinion, sleeker, lower profile and the matt black finish is great. I like the simple strap, compared to the other models that came with a leather option, this is my preference. The light weight of the watch means you hardly notice it, it’s comfortable but the screen is large enough to use it properly. Not sure how they have crammed everything in to make this so useful with the two screens giving so much data yet ..wearable.
The health stats on the ULP screen are extensive but useful, it has sensors for things I didn’t know my body did lol and when not in use these fade behind the simpler watch face and hence save power. It reverts to the first screen by moving the hand towards the face, ie the gesture you make when going to tell the time. This is well visible in daylight or dark.
Let’s get to speed, it’s fast. Responsive, where previous versions might have struggled with certain apps this doesn’t appear to.
The TicHealth app is all I ever use so can’t really compare to other fitness apps. Maybe that says it all. I haven’t felt compelled to look elsewhere as it does everything I need it too.
I like the add ones that seem like gimmicks at first but actually come in handy such as the heart rate zones highlight as the display background colour, it’s an easy glance during a workout to see if your hitting where you were aiming. Also the button on the right can be spun to allow easy scrolling through screens, very nice indeed.
I like how it arrives too, in a watch shaped box, how it’s should be. I’m a bit of a fan of nice packaging!
If you’re looking for a new smart watch, this is a very smart choice. I would highly recommend try it. Tick, tick, tic.
I purchased the TicWatch Pro 5 off the back of already owning the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS, and the TicWatch Pro 2020 before that. Both the previous 2 models were superb, so as soon as the TicWatch Pro 5 came out, I knew I wanted one! I have been using it for about a week and the long and short of it is, I love it!
Packaging
Different to the previous models, this watch comes in a long thin box allowing the watch to sit flat during transport. The box itself feels high-quality, and contains the watch, instructions, and charger, all packaged with care to ensure a flawless product on delivery.
Watch Design
As expected, this iteration of the Ticwatch Pro series is stunning. The older Pro 3 Ultra was very good looking, but this Pro 5 version excels with additions such as the knurled bezel and almost flush glass, which is Gorilla Glass in this version — very handy and rugged, and also has an anti-fingerprint coating. The materials of the watch feel very durable, which you would expect from the MIL-STD-810H Military Standard specification. It is also rated for up to 5ATM Open Water Swim.
The side buttons both feel robust and are unobtrusive even when bending the wrist (if you wear it on your left wrist like I do, some watch buttons can get pressed when bending the wrist). The main crown button rotates which is useful when in the watch OS for scrolling through apps or settings. The crown button also has a very attractive red inlay. The other button is nearly flush to the body, and has a grippy texture.
The watch is a few mm thicker and a couple of grams heavier than the older Pro 3 Ultra model, but does not feel oversized and is still lightweight.
Strap
The supplied strap is quoted as a 24mm band, which it is at it’s widest point near the body but the strap itself is 22mm wide The black silicone strap is quick-release and is incredibly soft to the touch. It has a decent amount of flex, without feeling floppy, and at the same time it feels very durable.
Display
This is where the Ticwatch really shines. Using the clever 1.43″ dual display, the majority of the time the watch will be using the low-power always-on LCD screen. This screen shows the essential information like Time, Date, Step count, Heart Rate, NFC, Bluetooth connection and battery. By either clicking a button, touching the screen, or tilting your wrist, this activates the OLED display which then allows the full smart watch functionality, with responsive touch screen and a host of apps at your disposal.
The LCD display is great for viewing in light areas, and is perfectly readable in direct sunlight, which a lot of smart watches cannot do. The LCD can utilise a coloured backlight mode, which is a nice addition.
The full OLED display is bright and vibrant with excellent viewing angles and dark blacks at a resolution of 466×466 (326ppi).
Apps
Running on Wear OS3, most of the apps are fairly standard. All the regulars are there like Phone, Memo, Calc, Alarm, Stopwatch/Timer, Weather etc. With the benefit of access to the Google Play store to download thousands of other apps.
My most used apps such as Google Keep, Strava, Spotify all worked flawlessly.
Another big plus is Google Pay, which is fully supported on this watch, I have made numerous purchases using it, as it is SO convenient. In case you’re worried about security, if using Google Pay you must set up a PIN or pattern, which activates every time you put on the watch. Therefore, if the watch was taken from you, Google Pay would not function without it.
In terms of the Tic built in apps:
I have TicSleep monitoring my sleep, as the watch is comfortable enough to wear to bed
TicZen and TicBreath can help de-stress
TicHearing can be used to measure the volume of an area
TicPulse is used to monitor my heart rate, which I have set to do 24/7 monitoring. Accuracy seems consistent with the previous models.
TicOxygen measures blood oxygen levels. I also have this running 24/7.
TicExercise has all the modes you would expect from an exercise tracking app — Run, Walk, Treadmill, Cycling, Freestyle, and many more including Swimming due to the IP68 water resistant rating. It can also upload to Strava, which is my exercise hub of choice.
A new addition to the Tic apps is TicBarometer, which includes an Altimeter and Compass and can be set to monitor continuously.
All of this gets pulled into the TicHealth app which gives a nice overview of all the above functions.
TouchScreen and Hardware
The screen is responsive to touch, I would say more responsive than the previous models. The watch is the first to utilise the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset, which is a powerful applications processor and ultra-low power co-processor, performs admirably and combined with the 2GB RAM and the increased 32GB ROM it never seems to slow down or show any signs of lagging.
The usual connectivity that you’d expect such as Bluetooth 5.2 and Wireless, and a whole host of GNSS technology (GPS+Beidou+Glonass+Galileo+QZSS)
Battery Life
This is where the watch really stands out for me, after using it for a week I have only charged it once. This is a massive improvement over the previous models. Taking in to account that I was using the watch with so many features running, such as the 24/7 heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, and also wearing it to monitor sleep. From first charge, I was able to easily get 4 days, including 3 nights sleep monitoring, and still had about 30% battery left. I have the watch set to automatically enter essentials mode during the night – which shuts down most smart functions, limits you to the LCD screen. When I did charge the watch, it charged quickly
UI
The UI on this feels buttery smooth, with no lag that I can detect. All touches are recognised, and no delays between presses and apps opening. Notifications show quickly and reliably, and the vibration is defined and strong.
Charging
The watch includes a discreet magnetic charging clip. It clicks into place effortlessly and allows the watch to sit at a slight angle, which would be nice for a bedside if you’re not wearing it to bed along with TicSleep.
Conclusion
So in conclusion, this is a superb and very comfortable smartwatch that I can see myself wearing for years to comeOr at least until the next model comes out!
An Unmatched Companion for Every Wrist: Ticwatch Pro 5 Smartwatch
The Ticwatch Pro 5 has astounded me with its remarkable performance, making it the ultimate smartwatch for the modern individual. From its extraordinary battery life and fast charging capabilities to its enhanced sleep tracking and lightweight design, this timepiece has left me thoroughly impressed.
Let’s start with the most awe-inspiring feature of the Ticwatch Pro 5: its exceptional battery life. This watch boasts an enduring battery that goes the extra mile, allowing me to enjoy its remarkable features without constantly worrying about recharging. Additionally, the fast charging capability ensures that I spend less time waiting and more time indulging in its advanced functionalities.
As an ardent fitness enthusiast, I was thrilled to discover the plethora of fitness tracking features packed into this timepiece. The Ticwatch Pro 5 accurately monitors my heart rate, counts my steps, and tracks my workouts with precision. The integrated GPS enables me to map my runs or hikes with accuracy, while the IP68 water and dust resistance rating allows me to embrace any weather or terrain without hesitation.
Beyond its impressive technical capabilities, the Ticwatch Pro 5 seamlessly integrates into my daily life. It effortlessly syncs with my smartphone, providing instant notifications, call alerts, and even the ability to reply to messages directly from my wrist. The ability to control my music and access Google Assistant with a simple voice command adds a touch of convenience that truly elevates the smartwatch experience.
A notable improvement over its predecessors is the Ticwatch Pro 5’s essential mode during bedtime. Unlike previous models, this watch intelligently switches to a mode that minimizes unnecessary light during sleep, eliminating any disturbances that might affect your rest. Now, you can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep without being bothered by annoying light emissions.
The Ticwatch Pro 5 also excels in day-to-day tracking, providing detailed insights into your activities as a default setting. Whether it’s monitoring your heart rate, tracking your steps, or recording your workouts, this watch leaves no stone unturned in keeping you informed about your health and fitness progress.
One aspect that pleasantly surprised me was the watch’s lightweight design. Compared to other models, the Ticwatch Pro 5 feels incredibly comfortable on the wrist, allowing for extended wear without any discomfort. It seamlessly blends style and functionality, ensuring that you don’t have to compromise on either.
Another standout feature is the high pixel density (PPI) display. The Tic Watch Pro 5’s screen delivers stunning visuals with vibrant colours and crisp details, providing an immersive experience that surpasses expectations. Whether you’re checking notifications or enjoying multimedia content, the display never fails to impress.
While the Tic watch Pro 5 has numerous advantages, it’s important to mention a couple of downsides. Firstly, the strap dimensions differ from the previous generation, which means you’ll need to purchase new straps if you’re upgrading. Additionally, there is no dedicated “left-handed mode” for lefties, forcing them to flip the watch upside down for a comfortable fit. It’s a minor inconvenience but worth noting for those who prefer a customised experience.
In conclusion, the Ticwatch Pro 5 is an unrivalled companion that effortlessly blends advanced technology with everyday convenience. With its long battery life, fast charging, improved sleep mode, and comprehensive day-to-day tracking, it’s a smartwatch that caters to all your needs. Despite a couple of minor downsides, such as different strap dimensions and the absence of a dedicated left-handed mode, the Ticwatch Pro 5’s superior performance and lightweight design make it a top contender in the smartwatch market. Embrace this exceptional timepiece, and elevate your lifestyle to new heights.
Having used a Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS prior to getting this watch, this is a serious upgrade that has really impressed me. Wear OS 3 runs so smoothly on this device, and the rotating crown is a great upgrade that I didn’t realise I wanted so much! Navigation, battery, sports tracking, have all worked seamlessly in my last week or so of testing. Some of the big things which I consider to be game changing updates:
Battery Life: I have consistently got around 3 days of battery life from this watch. I generally just charge it when in the shower which is generally enough to keep it topped up, but did push it a couple of times to see how it performed. I had 24hr heart rate tracking enable, and had the automatic switch to essential mode enabled for around 6 hours each night.
Automatic Switch to Essential Mode: I never had this enabled on my TWP3 because I always felt that switching between smartwatch mode and essential mode was a bit tedious, and not very seamless. This has been completely resolved. When I wake up and wake the watch for the first time, the switch back to smartwatch mode takes around 5 seconds, It’s really impressive!
5 Atmosphere Water Resistance: After reading about so many people bricking their TWP3 by wearing in the shower (not recommended!) it’s great to see that Mobvoi has taken the desire for better waterproofing seriously. 5 Atmosphere water resistance places this watch in league with some great higher end sports watches!
Altimeter: This may seem like a small thing, but as an avid hiker, I always found the altimeter on my TWP3 was consistently innacurate by around 150m. The new barometer app on this watch works SO much better than previously. Not only does it use barometric altitude + GPS, but it also includes the ability to CALIBRATE. Something that I desperately wanted from my TWP3! So if you’re standing on a spot height which you know the exact altitude for, you can calibrate the altimeter there and then to ensure further accuracy in the future which is fantastic!
Sports Tracking: Generally, I didn’t have too many issues with sports tracking on my TWP3 however I did occasionally run into crashing and syncing issues, especially on longer activities like hikes (5+ hours easily). While I admit I haven’t extensively tested for these, I haven’t run into any of the same issues I had previously. All of my activities have synced near instantly with my phone and I haven’t run into any crashes as of yet.
Better 2nd LCD screen: The rotating crown enables the 2nd power saving screen to be so much more useful than on the TWP3 which is great. There are a multitude of different screens now available to cycle through using the rotating crown. Some customisability of these screens would be a fantastic additional feature as I don’t think I’ve found any way to do it yet!
All in all, a really great upgrade, I can’t speak for the watches between the TWP3 and this, but if you’re currently enjoying a TWP3 I can definitely say this upgrade is worth it. The wealth of new features is very welcome and the experience of Wear OS 3 is great. I do wish that Mobvoi would bring Wear OS 3 to the TWP3 asap as they promised what feels like years ago. Everyone deserves to experience this new software!
I also have a Garmin EPIX Gen 2 which is my daily driver. At more than double the price of this watch it feels unfair to make any kind of direct comparison, however there are a few things that the Garmin does which could be implemented by Mobvoi on this watch to make the entire experience considerably better:
Customisability: On my Garmin, you can customise every aspect of every piece of sports tracking. This is a HUGE quality of life increase for any avid runner, cyclist, hiker, or general sportsperson. The ability to change the sports tracking screens to show the exact information I desire is such a powerful tool, and one that Mobvoi should really look to implement. In the first instance, this would be great for the actual TicExercise app, and not necessarily the LCD screen features, but to expand this to the LCD screen would be an amazing update too.
Better health metrics: Heart rate variability is an incredibly powerful health metric tracked on Garmin, which I find is really useful for catching illness early, determining my sleep quality, and generally measuring my overall stress. With 24h HR monitoring this would be a fantastic thing for Mobvoi to add into the watch.
Estimated Battery Life: When starting a sports activity, garmin estimate the battery life you have left on the watch. This is especially useful for determining whether I need to charge the watch prior to my activity or not. Garmin’s estimations take into account the GPS settings and whether you are listening to music via the watch, which is super useful. This would be something I would hugely appreciate Mobvoi adding, as if I know I am going for a 1 hour run, I can know how important it is to charge the device before doing so.
Downloadable GPX files: I believe the Mobvoi may have made this possible through a web browser, however when I tried to use it in the past I could not get it to function as I wanted it to. I often ran into Strava sync issues on my TWP3 in the past, which then left me stuck as I couldn’t get hold of the GPX file of my activity in the Mobvoi app. This would be a HUGE quality of life improvement that Mobvoi could add to their health app, as I wouldn’t feel scared about running into sync issues as I could just do a manual GPX upload to Strava.
Dedicated Sync Watch button: In addition to the above, I would often run into issues on my TWP3 where an activity would be on the watch but refusing to sync to the app. Granted I haven’t run into this on this watch during my testing, but having a dedicated sync watch button in the Mobvoi health app could really help to alleviate the issue. As rather than having to wait for my phone and watch to sync when they want, I could force the two to check files and sync whenever I wanted.
All in all, a fantastic watch. Mobvoi could definitely learn a thing or two from the more dedicated Sportswatch providers about how to improve quality of life around sports and health tracking, but that doesn’t warrant me removing a star. I can easily recommend this watch to anyone wanting a really reliable, smooth and fast, all round great smartwatch.
An exceptional watch, well worth the wait!
Along with a lot of other people, I have been eagerly awaiting the update to Wear OS 3.0 for my Mobvoi TicWatch 3 LTE… So, I was left with a bit of a dilemma when Mobvoi released, quite by surprise really, the Tic Watch 5 Pro… A no brained for me in all honesty, having owned virtually every TicWatch released I placed my order the day it was released and sat by the front door patiently waiting for the Amazon delivery driver!
It arrived late on in the day but not too late to unbox and start setting it up… First impressions, this is a great looking watch, the discrete action button on the side and rotating crown are extremely well designed and really are a visual improvement to the new design. The box too has a new way of packaging a watch flat and unfolded which really adds to the “new” experience in my opinion.
As with previous models the Mobvoi app is needed to pair with your phone, this time it’s the Mobvoi Health app though which I think should give you some idea where Mobvoi are aiming this watch. Anyway, once connected setting up was a breeze as with all previous models, the only thing this time was that a notification saying system update in process stuck around for about 24 hours before clearing and needing a reboot so I can only assume this was a genuine update.
Once I had all my apps loaded including a 3rd party watch screen the fun really started, using the crown to rotate through the available tiles is genius and so much faster than swiping, as is the ability to use the crown to scroll the list of apps, makes your interaction with the watch far more discrete. The crown button also acts your way of accessing the apps list, which scrolling through feels more fluid and responsive than ever before.
The new “second” LCD screen is once again brilliantly implemented, you now have the option to scroll through several health sensor values using the rotating crown showing things like heartrate, calories burned all with the time centre top. This “glance screen” facility/power saving feature remains one of the main reasons I stick with Mobvoi for my daily wearable.
Wear OS 3 isn’t as large a change as I had expected given all the hype, but that too does not disappoint, everything just feels smoother, less laboured and more polished, menus load instantly and clicks result in immediate action with no sense of lag or delay. A couple of settings have moved or are no longer present, but nothing that deters from the new experience. The battery life is incredible, I was routinely getting a couple of days from my “old” Pro 3 but this watch with its intelligent essential mode I can see would at least double that if not more with reasonable use so we really are heading into a world where you can charge your watch once a week. Even if you do need to charge it though it does so very quickly using the new fast charge technology and you get a very reassuring 2 decimal place meter which allows you to see just how quickly your watch is charging.
The only negative thing I can say about the new TicWatch Pro 5, and this is totally my personal preference with any watch, is that the supplied silicone strap, whilst robust and premium feeling does not quite fit with the overall aesthetics of this premium watch. I have therefore purchased a 24mm black metal strap to complete the look of my watch, but as I say this is purely my pickiness when it comes to my watches!
All said, I am VERY happy with Mobvoi’s latest watch, it may have been a while in coming but it is definitely worth the wait!!
TicWatch Pro 5
First impressions, I loved the look of the package that arrived, I expected a squarer box, (like the earlier TicWatch’s I had had), but this one came in a nice flat box, very google-esk In its style!
On first impression the packaging is very sleek, and the watch is well protected.
Picking up the watch for the first time it felt like a solid well engineered piece of kit, it felt the same weight as my existing TicWatch Pro 3, which its replaced, (this will be gifted to the wife )
Putting them side by side, the size of the watch is remarkably similar.
on first inspection, I loved the rotating crown, (the winder of old days!)
It is a button (that can be pressed) that doubles to navigate the menus in the watch as well by turning it, Great idea! and it gives a solid click feel as it rotates.
The Build quality of the watch, feels great and to be honest I personally have had no issues with any of my Mobvoi products
This watch is Wear OS 3.5 out of the box, it’s worth noting that Wear OS 3+ devices do not use the Wear OS App, just something to think of if your moving from an older device, as you won’t setup the Watch from there, but it’s not a problem, especially if this is your new first device.
The setup process of the new device was very slick also,
Turn the watch on, and my phone told me there was a TicWatch 5 pro nearby to setup, followed the wizard, very straight forward and off it went, a few questions about Google accounts and that’s it really!
I then went ahead to add my Google Pay cards to the watch, this worked perfectly, and they both appeared at once.
The Watch has the various Tic Apps, that Mobovi’s have developed over the years.
On this one TicWatch Pro 5, I especially like the enhanced TicExercise app,
Many of you will be familiar with the dual layered screen of the TicWatch’s, they have made this better with each iteration. Firstly, we had the dual layered screen, allowing the OLED panel to be turned off, showing only the LCD then we had the updated version with a back light, blue in colour.
Now we have different colours of the back light for when you’re using the TicExercise app, for example on my walk today the watch screen went to Orange when my arm was lifted to show that my heart rate was in “Fat burn”, there are a couple of different colours it will change to depending on your work out. Resting Warmup (Blue), Fat Burn (Yellow), Cardio (Orange), Anaerobic(Purple) and Danger (Red), great for a quick look at your wrist!
Charging, my experience of charging the device (even by a PC USB charging point) is very good, the watch charges really quickly, (sub one hour) from low 10% I tend to charge whilst in the shower in a morning, this means I’m only topping up, and never completely flat.
The dual layer LCD screen that is mentioned above, also supplies more information over the earlier screen, now it shows the day of the week, Bluetooth connection status, NFC, if any notifications exist, a frame around the time, Alarms that are set.
Also when exercising there is more data to complement the different coloured workout stages of the LCD panel, Such as GPS active, Heart rate monitoring, and exercise time.
The Screen somehow seems larger! the fonts seem more clearer in Wear OS 3.5 and notifications from the phone seems better to read somehow! Also the touch panel is very responsive.
I Should have mentioned this earlier on, but this device has the latest Snapdragon W5+ Gen1 CPU, and I have not experienced any lag from applications at all, even when it was first updating all the apps from Google Play initially, so this is great! According to the spec’s it’s 50% more efficient, 2x Faster, 2x more features and 30% smaller! The system also has 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM, so you’ll fit lots of Apps on the device!
The New App’s over my TicWatch Pro 3 included, TicBarometer, TicCompass, the compass which must be calibrated (like most GPS devices, with the Figure of eight motion) this is straight forward.
There is also a new one measurement tool that will combine all the various metrics from the sensors and provide you with an overall measurement. Heart Rate, this will include if the watch has detected any abnormalities, such as Irregular heartbeats, it will also measure, blood oxygen levels, Respiratory rate, Stress levels and then give you an overall, Heart health level.
The Altimeter is also new along with the Barometer mentioned above, these allow you to see the exact information and would be useful to someone who climes too.
Although not a new feature of the Pro 5, I do like the TicSleep App, it’s a great InSite into how well your sleeping, with the extra sensors also being added to the app now, it’s still being improved upon.
Although not a Mobvoi app, Google Maps — is also available on the TicWatch Pro 5, and works well in what I have tried so far, the phone and the watch worked together, you would think that the screen of the watch is too small for the map, but in fairness its not, its setup well, I can see that Wear OS 3.5 has moved on a fair bit but having been stuck on the earlier version I never really knew that until now!
The Watch is 5ATM rated water resistant and open water swimming ready, but mine will never see the water just in case, don’t want to take the risk
Hope this helps someone, I would recommend upgrading to the TicWatch Pro 5, Mobvoi do make good products
The watch arrived in a new style box from previous mobvoi watches.
Included in the box:
Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS
Propritorty charger
Quick start guide
Warrenty information
This is my 3rd pro watch from Mobvoi. This watch is is definitely upgrade compared to the Pro 3 Ultra given that it has the latest Wear OS software. Mobovi have redesigned the look of the watch. There is now a rotating crown and the haptics on this is fantastic to scroll the menu. There is also a button for the recent apps. Mobvoi also have got rid of the number dial that was round the outside previous watches. Given that this has the Snapdragon w5 +1 and 2gb of ram this watch runs very smoothly.
Something also differnet compared to previous watches is that app needed to set the watch up, I no longer need the wear OS app but the new Mobvoi Health app. Pairing the watch took a matter of minutes and was very easy to do. One thing I noted was that once I turned the watch on and it was in paring mode an icon came up on my Pixel 7 Pro almost immediatly to pair with the phone, I didn’t have to start from the app. The charging clasp easily connects to the watch magnetically. The good thing about the chargng clasp is that it is the same one that I got with the Pro 3 Ultra, so anyone who had bought a Pro 3 Ultra will now have an extra cable for their Pro 5
I only needed to charge the watch once. One of the new features I like is that the new fast charging is fantastic. The smart watch mode lasted around 3 days for me which is what we are told it will last. A couple of features that helped make that happen was turning the always on screen feature off, turn off tilt to wake and turn on the tilt to lightup back light. This is a fantastic new feature that gives a back light to the essential screen so you aren’t wasting the battery on the smart mode tilt to wake or always on display. The find my phone feature is always helpful when like me sometimes you put your phone down and can’t remember where. It simply makes the phone ring like a call coming through.
I’ve used the watch for a week now. I have really enjoyed having the Ticwatch Pro 5 on my wrist as it’s a fantastic watch. Another thing differnet caompared to previous Pro watches is the the watch strap is now 24mm, previosuly was 22mm. The interface runs very smoothly. You can easily change the face of the watch if you so wish either using the watch or on the Mobvoi Health app.
Notifications on the app can be read by swipping up or pressing the crown and scrolling up and to get rid of the notification swipe it to the right. When you get an email, message or WhatsApp you can do one of four things, reply with an emoji, draw an emoji, send one the automated responses or you can send the reply you want by typing it on the watch.
The TicExercise app is fantastic. I used on the run I had. You can also use it when swimming and cycling. The heart rate monitor is on the back of the watch. TicPulse app I found measures the heart rate very accurately. The app is easy to use just clicking on app and tap to begin heart rate monitoring.
The watch can control the media you have on your phone. You can control it by pausing, skipping track and volume control. You can also connect any bluetooth enabled headphpones by going into Connectivty, bluetooth and clicking on avaible devices to add the headphones. As there is 2gb of ram onboard the watch you can also download music from Spotify or Youtube Music so if you’re going for a run or walk you do not need your phone with you.
Having had the watch for a week now and I am delighted with it, overall the features on this watch make it one of the top Wear OS smart watches on the market. In my review of the Pro 3 Ultra I hoped that the next in the next Pro watch I’d like to see Mobvoi bring in wireless charging, I am disappointed that the charger is still a propritory cable.
Something else I am disappointed with is the strap included with the watch, it feels cheap and takes away from the quality hardware, the strap included with the 3 Pro Ultra was far supior in my view.
One thing to note it that there is no Google Assistant installedand can’t be downloaded from the Play Store, this is something that doesn’t bother me, alternatively you can download Alexa.
Another great TicWatch. A fast Wear OS 3 watch that lasts for days!!!
‘ve been using the TicWatch Pro 5 for just over a week now and I’m really impressed by this smartwatch. It’s fast, smooth, and has amazing battery life thanks to it’s dual display.
The TicWatch Pro 5 is the first smartwatch to use the Snapdragon chip, which is designed specifically for Wear OS 3. This makes a huge difference in performance and responsiveness compared to previous Wear OS watches. Everything feels snappy and fluid, from swiping through the tiles to launching apps. The watch also has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, which is plenty for most users.
The watch has a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, which is bright and sharp enough for most situations. However, what makes this watch stand out is the secondary display on top of the AMOLED screen. This is a low-power LCD screen that shows basic information like time, date, steps, heart rate, and battery level. It also has some useful features like a compass, a torch, and a heart rate zone indicator.
The secondary display helps save battery life by turning off the AMOLED screen when you’re not using it. You can also switch to Essential Mode, which disables Wear OS entirely and only uses the LCD screen. This can extend the battery life to weeks instead of days. In my testing, I was able to get around two to three days of battery life with normal use, which is impressive for a Wear OS watch.
One of the things I love about this watch is how it adapts to different situations. For example, when I’m indoors or at night, I can use the AMOLED screen to see all the colours and details of the watch face and apps. But when I’m outdoors or in bright sunlight, I can switch to the LCD screen to see the time and other information clearly without draining the battery. I also like how I can use Essential Mode when I don’t need all the smart features or when I want to save power for later.
The TicWatch Pro 5 also has a lot of sensors for health and fitness tracking. It has GPS, heart rate monitor, blood oxygen monitor, skin temperature sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and ambient light sensor. It can track various activities like running, cycling, swimming, hiking, and more. It also tracks your sleep quality, stress level, and body energy level. You can view all your health data in the Mobvoi Health app on your phone or on the watch itself.
I’ve been using this watch to track my workouts and sleep every day and I’m very happy with the results. The watch is accurate and reliable in measuring my heart rate, distance, calories burned, and other metrics. It also gives me useful feedback and insights on how to improve my performance and health. For example, it tells me when I’m in different heart rate zones during a workout and how long I should rest between sets. It also shows me how much deep sleep I get every night and how it affects my energy level throughout the day.
The watch has a rotating crown that makes it easy to navigate through the menus and apps. It also has two buttons on the right side that can be customized to launch your favorite apps or functions.
The watch has a stainless steel case with a matte finish that looks sleek and durable. It comes with a silicone strap that is comfortable and sweat-resistant. The watch is also water-resistant up to 5 ATM, which means you can wear it while swimming or showering.
The TicWatch Pro 5 is one of the best Wear OS watches you can buy right now. It offers great performance, battery life, health features, and design.
To summarise the key features:
– Incredible performance with Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip
– Dual display technology with Essential Mode for long battery life
– Lots of sensors for health and fitness tracking
– Rotating crown and customizable buttons for easy navigation
– Google Pay support
If you’re looking for a powerful smartwatch that can last for days without charging, you should definitely check out the TicWatch Pro 5.

Its AMOLED display provides vibrant colors and exceptional clarity, perfect for enjoying media and accessing detailed information. This intelligent dual display setup strikes a perfect balance between visual quality and power efficiency.

It provides a smoother and more intuitive interface, allowing for seamless navigation and quicker access to essential features. Additionally, with access to a wide range of apps, I can customize the TicWatch Pro 5 to suit my unique needs and preferences.
In conclusion, the TicWatch Pro 5 is a smartwatch that excels in various aspects. With its remarkable battery life, fast charging capabilities, 5ATM water resistance, Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset, intuitive rotating crown, and dual display technology, it offers a comprehensive and exceptional user experience. If you’re seeking a smartwatch that delivers unmatched longevity, rapid charging, and water resilience, the TicWatch Pro 5 is an ideal choice.
After a long wait, Ticwatch Pro 5 is out and it didn’t disappoint!
Without a doubt, this TW5 is an upgrade of TW3 Pro Ultra in every aspect. I am a TW3 Pro Ultra user and this TW5 definitely solved any problem that I had.
Here is a summary of Pro’s and cons that I can say in TW5 after some time of usage:
Pros
1. Battery life – as we all know, Ticwatch is a beast in terms of battery life. TW5 takes it to the next level!
2. Dual screen display – as we all know, ticwatch has two displays, one is the watch face itself, and the other one is the basic display which gives more efficient battery life. In TW3, there are only few informations in there but in TW5, you can now see your heart rate, battery life, etc. It also includes a color coding in the backlight which indicates what is your current heart level is. It is really great since you just need to memorise the color and no need to check on your watch from time to time.
3. Fast charging – seriously, this watch charges so fast. You can get up to 65% in 30 mins! It is insane!
4. Performance – hands off! TW5 is a beast compared to TW3. definitely worth the upgrade. Transition is so fast. No lag. Just smooth! You also have 32GB of ROM and 2GB of RAM which is definitely a plus!
5. Ease of access – TW5 utilise one of its top button in Google pay. Just two taps and you are there!
6. Health sensors – I can say that it is the same with TW3. However, one upgrade that i appreciate is the one-tap measurement. Literally, one tap and everything is in there!
7. Rotating crown – this is a life saver! especially for me with big finger, having a rotating crown to select apps and navigate is definitely a plus!
8. Built in compass – there is none in TW3 (or was removed?). In TW5, works perfectly.
9. Overall build – as expected. Ticwatch is hard core in terms of this.
10. Future proof – having the latest Snapdragon chipset, will definitely be compatible with future Wear OS upgrades. Given that the hardware of this watch is literally hardcore, no need to worry at all!
Cons:
1. No Google Assistant (at least for now) – There is no google assistant in TW5. Personally, I dont use Google assistant so there’s no effect for me. However, I know lots of guys who fully utilise google assistant. So if you are that guy, you should think first. Though I’m not sure if there would be an update.
2. Watch strap – i found the watch strap of TW3 more of a premium feel than TW5. However, this is not a biggie since watch straps are available in Amazon. You can replace it anytime.
3. Software updates – As we all know, Mobvoi is quite behind in terms of software support. Hopefully, mobvoi can catch up!
Overall, I find that TW5 is a very good smart watch. I’m not more on a techie guy but just a normal guy who wants my watch to perform as needed. Hence, TW5 for me is definitely worth it!
To start with, I am a confirmed TicWatch and Wear OS fan. I’ve previously owned three different generations of TicWatch so was keen to buy the latest model when released. My previous TicWatch’s are all still operational and have been passed down to different family members to use – which demonstrates their longevity at least in my own personal experience.
Initial unboxing shows a well packed and neat box with the watch stretched out flat in a thin, long package. The charging Cable is actually the same as my TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS which is handy, and the magnetic connection is secure and easy to locate. The watch strap size and fitment is again identical to the previous generation making them interchangeable which is useful as I have a couple of spare straps that I sometimes swap around.
After charging for maybe half an hour (the TicWatch 5 is advertised as having faster charging and that certainly seems to be the case) I tried on my new watch, it fits really well on my wrist and is very comfortable.
I note that at first glance the TicWatch 5 appears to have more screen real estate than the previous flagship model but according to the specs the different in resolution is only small – so it may be the Wear OS 3 experience that is feeding this impression, either way the display looks great, very crisp, high resolution and bright to read in all conditions.
In terms of setup, this is straightforward and after having undertaken this process using the Wear OS companion App on my Samsung S23 Ultra it didn’t take too long at all to get going. The companion app is new (Mobvoi Health) and as usual offers the ability to perform much of the notification, watch face, Tile, GUI layout and other standard setup operations.
I spent some time (when relaxing in front of the TV) playing with the settings between the phone app and on screen on the watch itself to get things to my normal day to day operating point.
I have at the moment stuck with the default watch face, though changed this to my favoured Black/Orange/White colour scheme – there is a ton of information presented – which I appreciate
Performance is excellent, I hadn’t noted any lag with my old TicWatch but the new 5 just feels super responsive, it may be the Wear OS 3 influence again, but the display and animations are superb. Looking at the hardware specification there is a lot more RAM and much more processing power so this all has to help. Regardless this watch performs superbly.
The new rotating crown is great, I have always wished there was a quicker way of navigating on my old watch, the crown allows this to a decent degree – it’s really easy to scroll up and down lists/apps or between screens and then click the crown to select. The other lower profile button allows access to recently used apps and a double click will open Google Pay.
Talking of Google Pay, this works well on the watch so rather than take my phone out of my pocket a quick double click on the top button followed by a tap to the card reader does the trick. Google Pay setup was very straightforward with the usual banking app confirmation of payment link to your watch.
It’s early days in terms of battery life so far (I only received the watch yesterday) but the specifications show a larger battery than my previous watch and hopefully a more efficient processor (and Wear OS 3) so we will see, but as long as I get at least a couple of days with high usage and frequent health tracking enabled I will be happy – this is what I get with my current TicWatch so I’m expecting better things
I like the One Tap Measurement app to take Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen, Breathing Rate and Stress Level all at once – this takes around 90 seconds to complete and in itself is quite relaxing as I find myself wanting to see decent readings 🙂
I wore the watch to my Pilates class this morning and selected Pilates within ‘Mobvoi Health’, the list of exercise types within the health app is immense now, with every type of exercise you could ever think of. The app captured and presented my exercise session with valid looking data, so I was happy with that.
I don’t normally use my watch when swimming (though I have) and the TicWatch 5 is significantly more waterproof than the Pro 3 Ultra which can only be a good thing – so I won’t worry about getting in the water with my watch on in the future.
I do tend to run my watch in “Always On’ mode as I like to see the OLED display in all its glory, but the second low power screen has gained more functionality (and is also linked with the rotating crown to change the displayed information) which is useful if you are going anywhere where charging may be more challenging so a drop to lower power usage is necessary.
In conclusion, I can’t get over how much slicker in operation this feels than my last TicWatch (even though I didn’t notice any issue when living with that watch day to day), screen animations and navigating the GUI (particularly with the new rotating crown) are buttery smooth. It’s early days yet but so far, my experience has been superb, it’s a great update and I’m over the moon with my purchase. I now need to give my last TicWatch a quick shine and box it up to pass on to another family member to use!
This is my 3rd Ticwatch I have owned so as soon as I heard about the latest incarnation of their premium watch I was very keen to purchase it.
The product was packaged very nicely in its box with everything you need including the watch itself, a quick start instruction booklet and charging cable.
The watch keeps the familiar design as previous versions but with a cleaner, less busy look on the front which makes it look even more premium. Added to the design is a new digital crown and above this a small button. The digital crown is a great addition as you can now scroll through the apps with ease, much better than the older Pro 3 design.
I have very small wrists for a man so I was worried that this version would be too large for me. In comparison to my Ticwatch Pro 3 I don’t see any significant size difference so although technically it’s bigger it certainly doesn’t look it or out of place on my skinny wrist! Previously on my older Ticwatches I have changed the included leather strap but the rubber feel band on the Ticwatch Pro 5 is much better suited to the watch style and definitely feels more comfortable, especially when I have been wearing the watch for a whole day.
From the moment I turned the watch on the upgraded components were obvious. The watch turned on so much faster than before, the haptics are more subtle which I actually prefer and the sound is less “tinny” than my old Pro 3. Interestingly when I turned the watch on my phone “saw” it straight away with a notification popping up asking if I wanted to pair the watch, this is a new feature as previously I had to “find” my older watch using the Wear OS app.
Scrolling though the apps is super fast either by using the touch screen or the digital crown and opening them is seemless, this is obviously due to the faster chip with items loading pretty much instantly.
So far the battery life is amazing for a smart watch. 24hrs after a full charge and I still have 79% battery! This is after a full days wear with constant notifications from my smart doorbell, messages, emails and also the inbuilt fitness tracker. Comparing this to my old Ticwatch and my wife’s Apple watch the Ticwatch Pro 5 wins hands down.
Charging is via a cable that magnetically attaches to the rear of the watch, the same connectivity as my previous Ticwatch. I really hope Ticwatch make some kind of dock for their watches which would make it even easier to charge but the included cable works fine without any issues. What I didn’t realise is how much faster the watch now charges compared to my old watch, again a huge upgrade and a very useful one as I’m getting over 60% charge in 30 minutes.
The display is also upgraded with lovely bright colours, perfectly readable in the bright sunshine we are currently enjoying in the UK. The watch keeps the dual display with a basic information being shown all the time but one tap on the screen shows the full smart watch display. Again this feature works just as it should with a seemless transition between both screen types.
The pre-installed Ticwatch fitness apps are useful too. The heart rate monitor & step counter are accurate and easy to use, I’m not a massive fitness fan but the apps work well for when I want to check my stats during my activities at work. I’m sure the more active person out there will find the other fitness apps more than adequate for recording exercises.
Changing the face of the watch is simple by either holding the screen or by using the Mobvoi app, there are loads to choose from and something for everyone, the one in the photo is my current favourite.
With access to the Google play store it’s easy to download standalone apps or ones that work in conjunction with your phone. I particularly like that the Google Home app is now available on the watch so I can now turn my smart bulbs on and off as well as control other smart devices in my house all from my wrist.
Overall the Pro 5 delivers exactly what it promised and over exceeds in lots of areas too. In comparison to my older Ticwatch Pro 3 the Pro 5 is a huge upgrade and the best to date.
I can definitely recommend the watch for anyone looking for a new smart watch or an upgrade to an existing one, you won’t be disappointed and will notice the difference.
