Happy to finally have a tool that can help me achieve consistent edge on my chisels and hand plane blades. It is well constructed with quality materials and very accurate. The wide roller vs smaller roller makes it easier to keep the tool level while using. Good smooth threads and nice sold weight and feel. Brass tighten knob is heavy duty and solid brass.

Works well and easy to align to the right angle. It takes a little getting used to when trying to tighten the item being sharpened as the clamping brackets have a slight internal angle that helps push the blade to the top to make square though can sometimes catch preventing proper alignment. This is not this tool but this design tool that has this issue. It’s easy to get it dialed in once you’ve done it several times.

This is the best version of this design to help
    ensure consistent sharpening. Well done!

Per chi si cimenta con gli scalpelli da legno non pu farne a meno ,non ha il costo della nota marca ma garantisco che funziona veramente bene salvo le dovute accortezze ,consigliatissima.

There are most definitely cheaper alternatives, that do a pretty good job, but I took the plunge and bought the Trend honing guide and this is on another level. A really good honing guide and the plate to help set the angle you require is also very helpful and easy to use. I would recommend this despite the higher price tag.

I bought this to go with a set of diamond honing stones I’ve got. This is specifically for use with diamond honing stones and not the more traditional grit ones. The guide itself holds the chisel or plane blade well but it’s a bit fiddly to set up with the angle template (hence only 4 stars), but once set up it works well with the diamond stone. It rolls smoothly and, so long as you hold it square to the stone, it gives a good result.

    The good:
The honing guide is well thought out, the wide roller helps to stabilize and spread sharpening force across entire chisel face. put a square.
The angle guide is very simple to use.

    The bad:
The price is expensive, too expensive.
Does not clamp and hold chisel well. You will need a screw driver to bear down to create a good clamp and hold. Finger tightening not good enough because chisel will get loose as you are sharpening. Considering the price, this weak clamp should not be a weak clamp, it is a design inadequacy.

Overall, tool works, can made to work.

This tool has advantages over similar in the price range in that it has a wide roller which helps to keep the blade you are sharpening square on the wet stone.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis guide is definitely a step up from the basic ‘eclipse’ style ones you get in ‘sharpening sets’ along with an oilstone, and it’s pretty well made, with a nice full-width roller to give it stability. But it’s still a bit of a faff to hold the blade square in the guide while setting it to the right protrusion (despite the handy jig) and then locking it tightly in place without it shifting a bit in the process. I find myself spending too much time on that bit of the process. The locking screws needed a touch of WD, and even then, they’re made a bit sticky in their movement by the black japanning, which I think was a bit of style over substance. Maybe stainless steel threads would be functionally better?
Overall, I can use it for now – but I think that now I’ve wandered into this price bracket, I’ll trade up at some point and get the Veritas one…
