Brilliant bit of kit, used it to plant potatoes, you get what you pay for – more expensive than a lot of others but worth the difference – great piece of ki

Wolf are a premium brand I have owned before, and I believe their products are well made. This worked well, but I did get a blister. I would therefore say this is great for small bags of bulbs, or planting larger numbers in well prepared soil. I needed to plant quite a few bulbs down the side of a lane, and into verges where the soil was fairly compacted. Perhaps a more substantial planter where you can use your foot would have been better in that situation. That’s my fault I suppose.

I planted over 1004 Daffodils using this implement. It was so sound, I have decided to buy the longer foot operated one which would be easier for my wife to use.

I love it – it has been incredibly useful for planting bulbs. I bought a different, long-handled bulb planter last year, but it was a pain to use and didn’t help at all. The problem was that the plugs of soil would get stuck in the planter, so you’d have to then dig the plugs out of the planter, and all the soil would disintegrate, and you might as well have saved yourself the trouble and dug a hole with a trowel in the first place. This bulb planter doesn’t have that problem at all because it has a button you push that widens the mouth, allowing the plug of soil to fall out whole and be neatly placed back into the hole. Would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersI’ve gradually been replacing my gardening kit with the wolf-garten multi change tools to consolidate, renew and reduce clutter in the shed

This isn’t part of that system, but i have been so impressed with the other tools that i decided to buy this when I had to plant about 150 bulbs a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, it took about 15s to figure it out, and after that it was really quick in operation.

I don’t suppose there is anything particularly different compared to other models, but it worked for me and I am confident it will last, plus it matches everything else!!

    Another red and yellow winner!

Paid for with my own money so if my words are useful, take half a second to give me a thumbs up below – thanks!!

Great for cutting the holes out for bulbs and saved digging, just be careful as the metal is a bit sharp and cut my fingers while trying to push the mud back ou

Was easy to use even in my very clay ridden soil. I had over 100 bulbs to plant and as I have arthritis in my hands it was a no brainer to finally get a planter. Very sturdy and robust too. Wish I’d got one years ago.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this and a conventional wooden dibber to plant out this years bulbs. It was quicker and easier using this. Makes a hole easily ( unless you hit a stone, which isn’t the gadgets fault). I have quite a big garden with some areas having lovely soil and other parts being quite clay like. The clay like stuff doesn’t release easy when you press the button on handle (works like a dream on the other stuff). I didn’t find this too much of a hassle, just poke it with your finger and it eventually releases.
Overall, I’m really pleased with this purchase and planted out over 250 bulbs in at least half the time it would normally take.

Excellent tool for planting bulbs, my soil was pretty soft so easy to make a hole and use.
I would say it looks well made the handles which are prone to bending look very strong on this planter.
Overall looks like a great buy.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersUsed this to plant bulbs – not surprisingly. My 5 year old very quickly got the hang of it and planted them all for me! You literally stick it in the ground and twist, it keeps hold of the earth, pop the bulb in, then squeeze the handle to release the earth. Made very short work of this task.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a joy to use, it’s made planting the bulbs a breeze! It feels really sturdy to use and just slices through the soil. It releases the soil really well too. It’s made a quick and tidy job of getting my bulbs in!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis feels sturdy in the hand, and functions well. If you are an avid gardener, it also saves time making it so much easier to ‘dig’ the perfect hole for a small plant. An added bonus is the handle colour, which makes it easier to find if you accidentally leave it among the shrubbery.

This implement is what I hoped for – strong and sturdy & hopefully long lasting. It works very well and has enabled me to plant a few hundred bulbs over the last few days 🙂 and still in good conditio

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI read many reviews for products like this, some with awful 1* comments about it collapsing etc. So I bought this with some trepidation. However, it worked as it was supposed to, and I planted 60 tulip bulbs within an hour — no damage to the tool or to myself.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersCouldn’t have put in all the bulbs I’d bought if not for this. I also bought one for my friend. Works really well. If the soil is wet or heavy, the release mechanism is a bit sticky and you sometimes have to push out the plug of soil with your hands.

I can’t believe I’m going to put this, but it’s my favourite garden gadget and I LOVE it! It made light work of filling my lawn with daffs and because you can replace the plug you take out you couldn’t even see where I’d been! I’d recommend it to guerrilla gardeners everywhere!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI used the bulb planter to put in tulips and crocus in both soil and a lawn. In both cases it worked very well but it took a fair amount of pressure to get it right down to the depth needed. However, someone with stronger hands than mine would have no trouble.
I tried it when the weather had been very wet and it obviously clogged up.
A very useful tool, easy to clean.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWolf-Garten FHN Fixed Hand Tool Bulb Planter is one very handy tool to have especially when it comes to that time of year when gardeners have a lot of bulbs to plant. This tool really speeds the process up and with a quick widening or squeezing of the handle you can control the size and amount of soil you want to remove from your soil either in a pot or even in the garden itself this was really work.
I found it that it worked a lot better in softer soil, so therefore I would recommend if your soil or land is very hard or dry to soak it well with water it would make your job a lot easier.
With a quick hard press of the tool straight into the soil and a clockwise and anti-clockwise twist of the tool you will feel the soil loosen as you press hard on the handle while the tool cuts into the soil you want to plant your bulbs. You then immediately pull up and the inside of the round circular tubing of the tool will now be filled with the soil you have removed from the garden or pot of soil. Now you put in the bulb you wish to plant and press the soil from the tool straight back into where you removed the soil, covering the bulb.
What I like about this tool is mainly it makes planting bulbs a lot quicker and if like me you plant your bulbs in time for spring you will soon be sitting patiently for your desired season to see your hard work showing through wonderful blooms or it can even be used to plant certain vegetables.
The Wolf-Garten Fixed Hand tool bulb planter is a great buy and I am happy to recommend it to anyone who like myself loves to see daffodils and tulips blooming in the garden every spring.

A very good planter. It does the job well and is a very robust bit of kit.Just made my wrists ache a bit so maybe I should have bought a long handled planter. Apart from that I can’t fault it at all and it deserves 5 stars.

This one seems to be of much sturdier construction than my previous bulb planter which bent on first use.
I have only given it 4 stars because it has not yet been rigorously tested as I had already completed most of my spring bulb planting [with a trowel] after the planter I bought at my local garden centre proved useless

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIt’s a useful tool for planting bulbs. Compared to last year I found a drastic difference. Here I would like to emphasise that when you are planting lots of bulbs it would be a bit more easier to use your foot in digging through. Also there is no means of removing the soil clumps. So I would give this 3-4 stars.
