Windy!!!
We tested the aerodynamic and thrust capabilities of the Ministry of Defence’s new F16 fighter jet with this thing! Wow. It didn’t let us down. I also use it for my indoor cycling. Excellent fan!!!
Powerful Fa
Very powerful fan but I found really noisy. It has 3 speeds and the higher you go the noisier it gets. Love the fact you can add scented beads ( provided with a sample) and the scent fills the room. With the extreme heat we have had it is a brilliant machine to have at hand. Bought it mainly to keep the dogs cool and the scent is an added bonus. Overall worth the price. Wish we bought one earlier than we did but never mind at least we will be ready for next years heatwaves. Definitely recommend this powerful fan.
Great power for the size
A powerful blower considering how light. Im a carpet and upholstery cleaner and this works very well on 2 and 3 seat sofas. Its no where near as powerful as my bigger 1hp blowers but its under half the weight and size which is a massive bonus 4 stars as my only critism is no power pass through for adding another fan. Price is very good too and its durable
Powerful
I purchased this to dry the humidity in my greenhouse and boy does it work. Very very powerful but pretty quiet considering the output. I’m not saying it’s silent but I only have to step away a few feet from my greenhouse, then I can’t hear it. It definitely won’t wake the neighbours
Gets the Job Done
Use it for the indoor sweat fest on a turbo trainer with the bike. Works well with fine air flow at full setting. Yet to consider the need for a smaller setting.
Good enough
Just about does enough. If you’re wanting to leave this in the back of a van and use for commercial work, I’d think hard. It doesn’t feel particularly skookum and the controls feel like a stiff breeze would break them (unfortunate given its purpose).
But does it chooch? Yeah, just enough. I was hoping to blast my face and get inflated hamster cheeks. It falls short. It did kick up a tonne of dust in the garage and blast all my notes off the wall, so it ain’t tea bag.
It’ll be fine for my use but it feels like it provides just enough value at around 70 quid to make it too much hassle to send back. I’d be delighted at 40, pretty chuffed at 50, feel like it was meh value at 60 and at 70ish… It’ll do as I’m not planning on moving it and I honestly suspect it’ll be used on mode 1 or 2 most of the time, with 3 being used when I want to see if I can increase my odds on the butterfly effect.
Needed a powerful fan for Zwift. I got the 230 version and boy is it powerful. In fact in these temps ( my setup is in the garage) I only need it on setting 2 out of 3 at the moment. 3 is in reserve for when the weather gets warmer. On 3 it will blow my towel straight off my handlebars if I’m not holding it, it’s that powerful, it’s like riding in a wind tunnel on 3, brilliant.
I note that whilst using it I’m dry as a bone and can keep going longer and stronger compared to no fan when the sweat is literally dripping off me killing myself on Zwift.
Team up with a Tapo plug socket (costs about 9) so you can turn the fan on from the bike when you start to warm up.
Sound levels are not bad at all, but on 3 the wind is blasting around your ears.
An absolutely brilliant fan for any sort of gym set up where you need to keep cool. You want powerful you got powerful with this bad boy.
As a sweaty drummer my old fan wasn’t delivering enough air to help keep me cool.
So did some research and this came up as an option. And wow, this thing is powerful. Was exactly what I was after.
This was bought during the heat wave in summer 2022.
I bought this fan to put in the barn to prevent heat exhaustion for my animals! My sheep and chickens cooled down in no time! I don’t know what I would have done without it to be honest. It’s now in situ in the barn ready for the next heat wave! It definitely saved a lot of suffering!!! Brilliant piece of equipment!!
I wanted something well built and that wouldn’t die on me in less than 2 years and if it does there’s a good chance customer service would actually exist. Other considerations were:
Ability to dry carpet and hard floors
Easy to handle (good air flow versus size)
Targetted/narrow airflow so the fan could sit at distance from me
I did not buy this to be the quietest so the noise levels don’t bother me and setting 1 in most cases is more than enough. Note there are quieter fans for less (look at the 20″ types) which you will barely notice are on and offer acceptable airflow plus won’t look so industrial.
Included data on the off-chance it’s semi-helpful.
What would be on my wish list for revision 1?
(I have no complaints with this fan I just like to come up with ideas…even if they are flawed lol)
Counterweight on the opposite side of the controls so the fan naturally balances itself without the need to use the tightening knobs (which are easy to use and helpful for non-level services for example) just to make direction tweaking even faster.
I’ve bought a few fans and they have broken or not given off a lot of breeze. This is a powerful little machine. It does what it says in the discription. I like the fact you can plug other fans into it and also the angle you can place the fan. I would highly recommend this product.
It’s been on 24/7 sitting in my window pulling in outside air into the bedroom for weeks, aside from the odd moth stuck to the fan it’s been decent.
Funny story though, I kept hearing water dripping one morning, and I was baffled where it could be coming from… Turns out fog will condense inside the unit and form a puddle, the fan blade was just swishing the water and making dripping sounds. Emptied it out and kept using it, been fine, works fine, happy with it.
The first setting isn’t too loud to me, second and third settings are a bit much for me to tolerate though.
The stream of air that it blows is very directional and laser-like.
Works for me ™
Pros:
Does the job. Fast cool air stream where it was needed in the last UK heatwave. (YES we do get them very occasionally) Ideal if it can be placed near an open window or door to circulate the air. I bought 2 so I’m happy. Ideal for ppl who workout at home or even drying areas of a building if you need to. They can be noisy, but hey what do u expect with a force 8 gale being hurled at you! Even has an electrical socket on it so you can daisy chain them or even use as an extension for something else.(bear in mind that it’s probably not a good idea to plug in a high wattage item like a fan heater or something.
Cons: Nowt I can think of.
Use it for zwift. We have 2 of these. Tried a different air mover first that claimed better airflow but this is the daddy. Best bang for your buck.
Impressive air flow, compact and so much better than a normal fan.
Plugged it into a smart socket and it really is the best affordable solution for cooling on a turbo trainer.
Powerful
Using it with a turbo trainer. I leave it on setting 3 for the entire session, noise levels are totally acceptable for the power it puts out. I generally do not sweat too much and drink relatively little, this fan is powerful enough to get me through a 2h session with just one bottle of water and very occasional use of a towel.
I'm A Fan!! :D
This fan blows!! Like really blows, shifts a lot more air in a pretty concentrated stream, when compared to my 20″ bladed floor fan which cost the same price. This makes it ideal for my intended use to help keep me cool when I’m on my bike trainer. It’s as good as the Wahoo Headwind (without the HR connection), but at half the price, so you can buy two … which I intend to do at a later date.
The only real issue for me is that I can’t reach the buttons to change speeds if I need to, I’ve solved it using a motor speed controller so I have full variable control from off to max. I can see a Raspberry Pi project coming along in the near future to add HR control, and possibly RGB Lighting as well.
Having looked around at options for a fan for my indoor cycling setup, took a punt on this one. Perfect for the job, as it is really powerful (I only use it on setting 1 and it has 2 futher more powerful options), low power usage and very quiet. Tucks neatly under the TV and can be positioned at the perfect angle to give a narrow column of ‘wind’. Look no further and get this one…….
Chose this after looking for free-standing air-conditioning units. Many of those reviews commented that the a-c units often smelled dank (because of the water required for cooling the air). This however doesn’t need water as it is a fan…but no ordinary fan: rather, a super strong jet of air that is barely audible. Definitely a great find.
Bought for diy, cooling, drying
pros:
1) moves lots of volume
2) quiet for the volume of air it moves
cons:
haven’t found any yet
I bought this to help dry walls and floors but it also does a brilliant job of moving air around a room for cooling. I do recommend
Having tried other fans I find the XPower fan in a different league. It can either be focussed at you or pointed to the ceiling when it covers the whole room. 4 speed, of which first 2 are quiet with 3/4 getting noisier. It is a fan, what would you expect. I listen to music through my smart speaker so can’t hear it anyway. Speaking of which I use a smart plug to turn it on/off after I’ve warmed up on my turbo trainer. Note it does not control the fan only preset on or off.
I do a bit of racing on Zwift and have found that using the fan on level 3 is enough to stop my garage becoming a sauna. For me, being cooler when putting in the effort helps to reduce my heartrate and improves my output. Level 4 is available for when its hot outside but I find its so powerful, it makes my fingers cold.
It looks and feels solid and there are timer settings available. I do appreciate the 1.8 mtr cable which saves using extension cables and wraps around the fan when not in use.
I like it!!
Using this fan with a Wattbike Atom/Turbo trainer……an almight gust of cold air on the first setting which is still nice and quiet…..knocking it up to level 2 or 3 and it’s super powerful.
During the April/May hot weather we also had this in the living room and I was still getting a powerful gust of air in my face stood in the kitchen about 20 metres away. Great bit of kit, especially for the price.
Bought this for indoor training on the bike as I had seen others using this style of fan. It’s unbelievably powerful and I only ever turn it on full for long high power intervals. Having gone from an 18″ floor fan this is incredibly quiet, so early morning training is possible. Provides a blade of air that covers my full chest and head whilst in an aero-ish position, can advise not having the main stream directed towards your mouth otherwise it’s like sticking your head out the window on a motorway!
