The eyelets punch the hole in the material, this means there are no cutting edges on the tool to go blunt, but for tougher material it may be necessary to pre-punch the hole.

The instructions on the box say “not suitable for fabric”, but they can be used for fabric if you follow these instructions.

1) Do NOT punch a hole in the fabric, the washer will not grip the ends of the warp & weft properly.

2) Separate the warp & weft with a thick needle or a thin awl, take care not to cut any of the threads.

3) Make the hole progressively wider until the eyelet is a TIGHT fit, the warp and weft should go round the eyelet.

4) Make sure there are no stray threads across the hole, these will get cut when the eyelet is set.

5) Set the eyelet in the normal way, for very thin material try using two washers.

 

Good product but did not read the description that cannot be used for curtsins, therefore my husband had to make a tool to pumch holes in curtain material and just use this for adding the eyelets, a few of which had the sides be
