Very happy with this. Bought to extend coat for baby-wearing and I love it.
Super easy to attach to zip size but quite hard to attach to the other but the little device included helps but it just means it’s not easy to swap between coats.
Fantastic Produc
This was recommended to me by a friend and I am very pleased I followed their recommendation. I bought the wrong option to start with but the company was very helpful and after sending them a photo of the zip I was trying to attach to they told me to return for the universal options.
Fitting the zip to your coat is tricky (more so as I didn’t find the wedge to help until I had finished the task). I had initially expected to move the extender between coats but this will be too difficult to do regularly.
The extender has been great during pregnancy as I have not needed to buy a maternity waterproof coat, you could get away without buying a maternity coat at all if you were happy to use one coat all the time.
It took me some weeks to realise that you could use the poppers along the front of the panel to make it smaller before you have a baby to keep warm as well. Once I had this sorted it was a great fit.
Not long now until it will be used as intended with a little one in the coat as well.
We have just bought the zips direct from the company to attach to my husbands coat so that we can swap just the panel between us when we take turns carrying the baby.

I didn’t want to buy a new coat during pregnancy so I thought I’d try this extender panel. I wasn’t sure which one would fit my coat so I contacted the sellers team and after sending photos of the zip of my jacket (including the back of the zip which showed numbers), they confirmed which type of panel I needed to order. It arrived today and fits perfectly and better quality than I thought it would be. I’m thrilled with it, thanks very much!
Excellent idea
Really happy with this product. Emailed to check which one I needed, had a quick response and it fit to my coat easily. Peace of mind keeping baby warm on walks. Only way it could improve is if it had a good attachment for rainy days.
I live in Scotland and I am near 5 months pregnant. It’s really important that, even in Summer, I have a decent jacket.
I searched high and low for a waterproof maternity jacket and I simply couldn’t find one to suit my needs and I thought it was throwing away money to buy something temporary.
My winter and waterproof coats have different zippers so I’ll need to buy the YKK Vision zip version, in winter, so I opted for the YKK coil zip version as this fitted my favourite: a mid weight paramo jacket that I can layer up.
I’d happily buy the other one, at a later date if it fits over the baby carrier when im walking the dogs.
I’ve got the drawstrings on minimum and it is very baggy but so much better, plus I’ll be able to put a baby carrier underneath and lots of layers. I really don’t care that it’s black.
It’d be nice if they did a variant of this that had a waterproof shell but this should keep me dry for an hour of so if it’s not throwing it down.
I’d also really love a version that used the teeny coils zippers that you find on sports mid layers and cycling jerseys because you quickly find there’s no maternity equivalent of those too.
Tip: check the back of the zip on your jacket and it will say YKK Coil (YKK 5CN) or YKK Vision (YKK 3VS) the numbers vary on the codes but the V and C are standard. Then you need either a double or single zip pull to match your coat.

I am expecting in June but we are going away in April so needed to get a coat to fit over Bump.
I have a longer body and arms so finding coats is always tricky to make sure they actually do their job. After looking around, it was clear I wouldn’t be able to get a decent waterproof for a reasonable price for only a year of wear. Cue looking for extension panels so I can wear my own coat.
This arrived super quick and was very easy to attach to my existing waterproof coat. The zip is a little stiff at first, but after a few uses it got a lot easier to use. The panel is high quality and reversible so will go on mens and womens coats with ease – make sure you measure your zip and check the teeth size first though.
The finish is very similar on both sides, with the drawstring toggle only on one side. The drawstring means you can tighten it to fit over your own bump. It was comfortable and gives loads of room for bump and a carrier in future.
Being able to move this between mine and my partners coat later on is absolutely brilliant, and will mean we can take baby walking without the hassle of getting a pram over uneven ground!

This is brilliant. Fits my North Face waterproof coat superbly. Save money as I didn’t have to buy a whole new maternity coat, I could use my existing one. Really helpful company too with get the exact one I needed to fit my coat. I very highly recommend this product and company.

I already had the chunky zip one and used that throughout pregnancy and then while my baby is in the sling. I bought another with a coil zip for my warmer winter coat. Super easy to fit, and such a good idea. One of my best maternity buys as this has saved me forking out on maternity coats
Excellent produc
This is a great item and I’m very pleased to be able to wear my favourite coats still. The only things that I have to fault this product are that the holes aren’t big enough to pull the toggles through to the other side, and the poppers for baby wearing aren’t great when you’re not baby wearing. I’d have rather have had another elastic which would spread the spare fabric evenly rather than leaving a flap in my face.
Useful
Maternity/ baby carrying jackets are ridiculously priced and bought this thinking it was a good alternative as it could be used with any coat or transferred to my husbands jacket. It took quite a while to fit the universal panels to my coat and it is not recommended in the instructions to move from coat to coat too many times as it would reduce their effectiveness. That aside if you are buying for one coat and planning on leaving them on it it is a good alternative to a maternity coat.
Does the Job
When I first got this product I thought there’d been an error, as the zip seemed to be on the wrong side. But then I noticed that it can be used either way round as the toggles on the elastic adjusters can be pushed through the product, making it reversible. This is great as it means it can also be used on my partners coat once baby is here so he can do his share of carrying!
Missing wedge tool but quickly se
The product seems great, but the wedge tool is missing which makes it difficult to fit to my jacket.

Really good product. I bought this to use during pregnancy as my belly was getting bigger and I didn’t want to buy a bigger jacket just for a short period. Also I like the fact that it can be used when the baby is here when carrying it outdoors. Initially I got the wrong panel which was my mistake – pressed the wrong button when ordering, so just make sure you order the right one! I returned it without a problem and ordered the correct panel. I currently use it with two jackets and it’s great. I can breath and have space for my belly 🙂 It’s easy to attach and to zip up. The only thing I would change is add the label in a different place – it’s at the very bottom of panel and it was annoying me so I cut it off. The other thing is one pull string which sticks out and looks funny which again is annoying me a bit but I just wrap it around the plastic part to make it invisible. I can definitely recommend this product and I make a good use of it.

I have a lovely thick down jacket which I wanted to be able to wear over the winter months – this fits it perfectly!
I didn’t see the point in spending money on a maternity coat which I would only wear for a few months, when I could just add this to my existing coats!
It expands with the bump… so lasts throughout pregnancy, then fits over a baby carrier once baby is born. For the price, and the convenience of being able to use it on all your jackets… definitely a thumbs up from me!
I was a little hesitant to buy this as just wasn’t sure if it would work – but I love wearing my baby in an ergobaby carrier when I’m out with my toddler, and as it was getting colder I needed some way to do that and zip up my coat!
This product really works. It’s a little fiddly to fit the universal attachments but once you get into the groove you can do it pretty quickly, and once it’s attached it stays in place well.
Zipping in the panel is super easy, and once it’s on the baby is protected and your coat is fastened. I have the longer length and it works on my knee length coat so that I have been able to be outdoors and stay warm – which during covid restrictions has been critical.
I’ve also put my coat through the washing machine a couple of times with the zip attached and it hasn’t moved or broken etc. So I really recommend this product!!
Scenario: 6 month pregnant, hiking weekend coming up in the Brecon Beacons with expected maximum temperature of 5C. Moment of panic when I painfully realise that none of my winter coats fit me anymore. Now what?
I spent about a week looking for a decent maternity coat online. I really resented spending too much money on something I would likely wear for 2 months. On the other hand, the cheaper coats looked very thin, flimsy, bad quality, just not fit for purpose. To make things more complicated, it’s so hard to buy a coat online when your body is changing so much and so quickly… I wasn’t even sure of what size to buy!
When I bumped into this piece of fabric, I was so hopeful it would solve all my problems and…….IT DID!!
Arrived very quickly, zipped onto my nice coat perfectly, and it kept me warm and comfortable during my weekend away!
It isn’t cheap, I bought it for 35, which might seem a lot for what is effectively a piece of fabric with a zip. But… I can use it with a range of jackets and coats, more importantly, MY jackets and coats!
Just make sure you select the correct type of zip you need (the picture helps!).
Also, it took me a while to understand which way up it should go (in my case, the zip doesn’t work when the extender is upside down – even though the description seems to suggest it should work both ways). So, if it doesn’t work first time, don’t despair, turn it around and try again!
All in all, highly recommended!
We got this so my husband and I can both cover the baby carrier when the weather is bad – most of the time in Scotland. It zips in easily to both of our jackets. It seems expensive but saved us having to buy new larger jackets to cover it. It means the whole carrier including straps are covered which isn’t the case for carrier covers. Only improvement is if there was an extra adjustable toggle near the top as it’s a bit big still for my baby.
I bought this when I was about 6 months pregnant and couldn’t do up my waterproof jacket (north face). It was really easy to fit – I bought the one for the zip of my coat rather than the universal one though with hindsight I wish I had bought the universal one as would have been useful to put it on other coats as well. Anyway, I used it for the rest of my pregnancy and then with the sling until our baby is now to big for front carrying. It still looks as good as new and I will it keep for future pregnancies. Money well spent and certainly cheaper than any waterproof maternity coat I could find.
Very good product. I bought the universal zip with long panel. It’s big enough to fit my baby inside my coat and keep us both warm and protected from nasty weather. I slide the universal cleats in my zip using a small plastic lever (about 3cm) that came with the product. Fit was easy and took 5-10 min. Not a 5 star product for two reasons: (1) plastic lever should be part of the panel as the likelihood of losing it is high and (2) whilst the cleats to the right are secured by the double zip of my coat, the ones to the left are not. The panel did not fall though when we were out and about. Would recommend this produc
I had to return the first one I ordered as it didn’t quite fit the coat lengthways and the return could not have been easier – I had a refund within a couple of days.
I ordered another one (different coat with a different zip) and it works perfectly. The zips were quite stiff to start with (hence only four stars) so I struggled to check that it was suitable, but once it had been done a few times the panel was really easy to get on or off. It folds up very small, which is very useful if I’m not sure if I’ll need it – I baby wear most of the time but sometimes will just have the sling in the bottom of the pushchair just in case.
The only real downside is that the universal zip doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon although I’ve read that there is one – the panel will only work on one of my coats. It also won’t work on a metal zip. Overall however I wish I’d found this months ago! I’ve been wearing my husbands coat to fit baby inside when we go out for a while now and now I don’t need to!
Not big enough
I used it for my jacket that I love so much but it does not go up to the top so I have a big gap only be able to wear in summer time .it was hard to put on to my jacket .
Great product ! Works as expected
Fits perfectly even on a waterproof zipper.
It is easy to install and uninstall, as this is used with my main coat and I’m not carrying my kid all the time it was important that the process was easy enough. It’s eveb possible to attach it with the kid already on you !!!
If you want to be picky and fair there is one side of the zipper that gets sometime stuck when you try to zip it. But nothing a little perseverance can’t solve.
If you live in a cold country in winter it will not be warm enough to protect your little one.
Used this twice now, unexpectedly in my OH’s jacket (due to injury). So I can confirm it does fit different jackets and it’s good and snuggly. It didn’t rain so I can’t rate for weatherproofing but so far “it does what it says on the tin”.
