It does really simulate an opened window. The drawback is that the noise is not constant as a consequence as the fan goes in and out. It is not a problem in my case because I use a very noisy white noise generator machine that actually cancels out that so it is perfect for my use case.
I do not give it 5 stars though because the design is outdated; the interface (with buttons) does not really make sense with a long press for some options but the main problem is the vibrating song coming from the base when the fan is turning. Again not a problem for me thanks to my white noise generator machine but that is still not great.
Also the price – I paid 40 for this which is appropriate. Over 45 though (2023), I think I will go with a higher quality and more recent competitor tower fan.

I bought one of these for myself last year, and I just bought another for my 87yo mum. Mum has mobility issues and rheumatoid arthritis in her hands and couldn’t manage to switch her old rotary fan on and off. If her carers left it on she would often get too cold. With this fan, the remote control lets her switch on and off herself, and change the settings, so she’s very happy with it.

This is a great fan. It works well and the fan itself is fairly sturdy. The reviews on here saying it doesn’t turn, are from people who clearly didn’t read the instructions to press & hold the button. I’m very pleased with it and it’s been great during the recent heat wave

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our Usersot as quiet as people say. okay for working during the day but when sleeping it is loud for lowest setting. louder than an air purifier or brown noise but sound is consistent and not creaky so it’s possible to get used to it.

night mode sounds the same as lowest setting. definitely cold enough for summer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThey were great. I bought two. They were world class during the heatwaves of 2022. What’s more.. I have a feeling Amazon rushed them here so we’d have them in time for the horrendous heatwave that happened in 2022. I forgot to thank you for that, Amazon. So.. THANK YOU!
Without these it would of been a nightmare, but they got us through a difficult time. I was also ill in those days and I am so glad I had these. Thank you! Thank you, Amazon. Thanks to the delivery driver. Really pleased and I’m gonna use them again this summer. They served us well in 2022.

Loved this. Some reviews said their machine was noisy, I didn’t find this. Really like this model and the remote was great in the summer when we used it in the bedroom.

Listen, I am a light sleeper but I can sleep through this thing easy! The effects of the cooling air depends on just how hot it is but I bought it more so so I could sleep at night as I’m hardly home during the day time to really need it. So it works!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’ve already got a fan from this supplier which I have had for many years. This fan looks nice and works well. One small thing which is not good is that there is no separate oscillate button. To oscillate the fan or to stop oscillate you have to hold the speed button down for 2 seconds. Unfortunately in those 2 seconds the fan has moved on from where you wanted it fixed and it therefore takes a while to get the right position. Would have given it 5 stars apart from this and do wonder why the manufacturers had to change a system that was working fine before .

Not powerfull enaugh for medium-big sized room from 11-2pm (heat peak) but that also might be cos we have black out curtains and huge windows, that being said it is perfect for morning, eve and night. Silent on 1st or 2nd setting, being a bit louder on 3rd setting (the loudest setting is only as loud as a whisper!), very very good sleeping mode, no squeeking while its oscilating, I personally love it! Safe enaugh even for a kitten who in fact loves to sleep in front of it and enjoys it. My bf loves it too when we watch movies togethe

I bought several of these for our kittens. They have a small room we keep them in overnight but during the recent heatwave it was scorching in there. The fan is easy to put together although I had help, but you could do it yourself. I was a bit disappointed you had to assemble it as in the past these types of fans are usually remove from box and use. The base seems weak but it actually is okay. The kittens have run around and banged into these playing and they haven’t knocked them over. The remote is a nice bonus and it has a cool gap in the unit to slot it into. They are definitely not the most powerful fans but they are good enough if they are very close to you in bed. They are also very stylish and lightweight. I’ve had bionaire fans in the past and they have lasted years. Overall I am pleased with them.

Got this for this 2019 sub-tropical heatwave and has made all the difference. The modes are super useful, especially the sleep mode which starts you at 3 and every few hours goes down to 1 so you don’t wake up freezing and dehydrated. Has this breeze function which is meant to imitate a natural breeze but don’t really see that or use that. Remote is super useful, just wish the indicators wasn’t on the top as when I’m lying in bed I can’t see.

Only complaint is much smaller then I realized. At 6″3 it come to below my waist but I would have taken a taller one so the breeze would hit me in bed more but still cools the room fine.

We bought this for the bedroom, but it needs to be slightly elevated so the air coming out of the bottom of the fan isn’t wasted blowing at the base of the bed! Saying that, it does sit on my side of the bed and keeps me cool; I don’t find it too noisy but my OH sometimes asks me to turn it off when he’s struggling to sleep. We move it around the flat a bit, as it’s useful in the sitting room too; overall I would recommend for this price, assembly was easy (you need a screwdriver) and it does look good, isn’t too loud, and does cool the room down! So all you need basically 😉 We might even get another one for the spare room for guests.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe good bits. 1 and 2 power settings are near silent on 3 it provides a good flow of air without being too noisy. It’s compact and nice looking plus the remote works well. The buttons are easy to press and easy to understand.

The bad bits. Assembly was a pain, the screws are inferior and chew up because it seems the screws are a little too big after screwing in more than 25% I have been unable to fully screw them in and as a result has left me with a bit of a wobbly base although it doesn’t make any audible noise when wobbling and doesn’t affect stability on carpet.

There are signs of use which makes me wonder if this unit was new at all.

I haven’t used the timer functions or the sleep function having only had it for an hour but I imagine with a fan like this you could leave on all the time.

    UPDATE 15th July 19:
Received a replacement and the base is much sturdier on this one. Perhaps the first one was defective but I am happy to have bought this fan now. It is much more quieter than my regular pedestal fan (also bionaire). The current temperature indoors is 27.4C and the fan feels refreshing obviously it’s not really cold air because it’s not an air conditioner but it is cool enough to feel comfortable in these hot temperatures.

At this price (34.99) it’s very good value for money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall very good fan!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI got the Bionaire fan because I was very happy with the mini bedside version.
In our house we have a number of tower fans all made by different companies, and so far there’s very little to compare between them. I also bought a 30 one from Morrisons the day after getting this one, and comparing them based on sound level and the cooling effect of the air, there’s very little between them. However, this wins by far for style: the cheap one is ugly white plastic and has big clunky buttons that click loudly when you press them, this one is a much sleeker design. Having said that I do find all the beeping annoying, especially as I only use this at night. Why does it need to beep every time you press a button?
The remote control is great, I do think it’s worth spending a little extra for a remote if you’re using this at night. Mine even works after my son dropped it in my bedside glass of water!
It really does have a good cooling effect, and I find the sound of the fan covers all those sharp noises that wake up light sleepers (like me) so for me it’s a godsend for a good night’s sleep in summer.
The only thing I’d like to change is that you have to cycle through all the speeds: you press it once for low speed, twice for mid, three times for high and then once more to turn off: there’s no other way to choose the speed or turn it off. And each time you press the button it beeps!
Other than that, it’s nice looking, silent moving, sturdy design, I’m very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe oscillating fan works well, scanning slowly from left to right and then a bit faster from right to left. This regular movement is almost completely silent on my model. Oscillation mode can be switched on or off.
The fan itself tends to be a bit noisy. On the low setting, I get a reading of c. 40dB using a sound meter in close proximity to the fan, and c. 30dB when sitting 9 feet (2.7m) away from the fan. I can sleep with it switched on, but the white noise produced by the fan is noticeably greater than that produced by my air purifier’s fan – which is almost whisper-quiet at its lowest setting.
This Bionaire BT19 fan can be remotely controlled, which is a very useful feature. Using the buttons either on the tower unit OR on the remote control, the fan can be switched on and off, the fan speed can be set (3 speeds), the timer can be set (1, 2, 4, or 8 hours), the oscillation mode can be switched on or off, and you can operate the Sleep and Breeze modes. Note, however, that using sleep and breeze modes will not reduce the basic noise level.
LED lights on the tower control panel light up to indicate which functions are in use; but they are not bright LED lights and they shouldn’t cause any problems with sleep.
At the moment, my fan is positioned near a wall about 9 feet (2.7m) away from where I’m seated. At that distance, it produces a pleasant and effective cooling breeze. The ability to operate all the functions with the remote control is a great asset – and would be especially useful for someone who is disabled, infirm or elderly.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOrdered as a replacement for an existing Bionaire fan which, after years of great service, has stopped working just in time for a very hot weekend!
My first disappointment is that this model is not as tall so it needs to stand on a small table to get the full cooling effect in bed.
My second disappointment was that I had to fit the base, which was in two pieces and has 4 screws requiring a Phillips screwdriver – this was more of a challenge for me than it might be for many people as I have arthritis.
However, once assembled the fan works very well, the sleep setting is particularly good, the remote control is a welcome addition and it is wonderfully quiet even when oscillating.
Very good value for money in my opinion, especially if it lasts as long as the previous model.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI’ve been using this fan for a fortnight. And what a fortnight. I do hope we never see another like it. It’s hot, too hot. As far as sleepless nights go, I’ve avoided them throughout the evil heatwave thanks to this tower fan.

So assuming you’re following suit and buying this to survive horrible humid nights, here are the two areas that matter.

Does it cool you down? Yep. Stood 6-8 feet away from the bed, it’s effective on the lowest setting. Turn it up high and you might start to think you’ve time travelled to December. Don’t get me wrong, it won’t tear your face off with its power, it’s just pleasantly effective at using what it’s got.

Is it noisy? Ah… well… if you’re looking for a silent fan (I know I was), as far as I can tell, they do not exist. Not at this price or performance anyway. So this is basically much like any contemporary fan. It makes a noise. It’s not a ‘loud’ noise, it’s a fan noise. It certainly shouldn’t keep you awake – especially when the alternative is to take your chances with the heat.

As for the features? The remote is fully functional. It doesn’t come with the two required AAA batteries, mind. The three speed settings have had all bases covered during this brutal July. It’s a minor inconvenience that you have to go through all speeds to turn it off, maybe. You can’t go straight to 2, for instance. It always turns on at 1 and off at 3, cycling through all three with each button press. That means two more button presses than necessary. If you’re not careful, you’ll work up a sweat with all that added effort it asks of you! Nah, it’s more of an odd design choice compared to fans of old than anything. The timer’s a welcome feature as well, even if I am finding the idea of it ever being turned off traumatic at the moment.

All said and done, I’m guessing these tower fans are mostly indistinguishable. Whether that is the case or not, I’m happy with this one.
