Great little starter kit. It came with a nice mix of seeds and a clear guide on how to germinate your seeds and get them growing. Some seeds take more time than others, but it’s well worth the time. It’s amazing to watch them grow, knowing it was you who took them from seed to tiny seedling. The kit had everything you need to start you off, and I did not need to buy anything else, which was really nice. Since then, I have also bought Growbuddha’s other bonsai kit and some other bits in my plant journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT

So bought this to see if I could grow some bonsai trees. Get lots of different seeds.
Have tried wisteria of 7 seeds so far only 2 look like they are germinating.
Also put the spruce seeds in the fridge so yet to know if any of those start. There are small little coir soil pods and pots you will likely need more. There is a really useful booklet and QR code to get more information for newbies to bonsai.

Im really impressed. 8 attractive species, with pots, soil, label sticks, trimmers.
Instructions recommend just sowing all the seeds but im aware most of them need pre treatment to enhance germination rate (soaking, scarring or stratification). I can see from the soaked seeds that the seeds are good quality with at least 90% being viable.
I wont be using the soil tabs nor pots as i have sowing soil and propagators but great that it contains all you need.

After a few days the Silk Mimosa have sprouted, then Wisteria and Flame.

I have also germinated some in a dark place….Jacaranda sprouting well.

So all in all…only the Pommegranate that havent germinated yet. Still early days…a week at most.

Blue Spruce, Black Pine and Eucalyptus are all stratifying at this moment. I will update with those.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great seed viability

Some of the varieties successfully germinated. Two of them are still in the fridge to simulate winter.
The box smells of fuel, but I like it so I don’t mind. Definitely would prefer to get some more of the soil and pots to plant more seeds.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLovely kit. I’m a complete beginner yet some of my seeds have germinated and are growing from soil within the week, even though instructions mention 2 1/2 weeks! Also the seeds that floated in the water are doing the best so far, so don’t throw them if they float. It’s an old wives tale!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s a good starter to growing bonsai, I struggled with some of the seeds not sprouting however all the rest look promising. However the box does have a weird smell to it that that doesn’t go away but I just think it’s the soil potentially. All in all it’s a great gift for people with green thumbs and it’s super cute.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGot my parcel today everything was looking great however it states that, bonsai tree trimmer is included however it is not. A little disappointing but not the end of the world. Started planting today so fingers crossed

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI followed the instructions and soaked the seeds before planting. I planted them all (except the two types of seeds that require stratification) on the 10th of April and stuck them in a propagator on a windowsill. This morning, the 12th of April, I was stunned to see that my Mimosas are already sprouting! I can’t wait to see if my Wisteria sprout.

I only used about half the seeds that were sent, which were A LOT. I’m so impressed with this little kit so far. I still have dozens of seeds left for another time.

I recommend this to anyone wanting to try to grow their own bonsai.

5.0 out of 5 stars I see sprouts already!

My 10 years old is very excited to grow his first bonsai trees. All have been soaked now potted ready to see what will grow.

Kit arrived quickly, instructions are easy to follow. Proof will be in the pudding as they say.

Everything you need in one box 🙂

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting to see what will grow...

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter doing some research I decided to give the Grow Buddha bonsai started kit a go because their other kit which contains less seed varieties has a lot of good reviews. The kit contains everything you’d need to start growing (hopefully) some lovely bonsai trees. I’ve also bought some Grow Buddha bonsai food and soil so that I’m prepared for when I eventually get to that stage. I decided to give this kit a go as opposed to the other one as this kit contains 8 seeds varieties, but two of the seed packets are not clearly labelled so I’ve no idea what they arehopefully google will be able to help me out there. I’m really looking forward to start growing bonsai trees and learning this beautiful, ancient craft. I will update in a few weeks with how I’m getting on.

This a a good kit I have only just started the process. Scarification of silk tree was quite fiddly but I got there in the end. Now just waiting for germination of the seeds.
