I have several of these and like others find then a bit laggy. Apparently it’s because they don’t need a neutral wire.

They seem to work by charging a capacitor by letting current pass through but not enough to light the bulb (usually). This trickle charges the capacitor and once charged it allows the wifi to turn on and listen for on/off instructions but only for a few seconds and then it must wait to recharge.

So if it’s listening at the right time it’s nearly instant, other times you have to wait.

Another consequence is that the transmitter doesn’t know if the switch is listening, so it repeatedly sends the command for a few seconds so it increases the chance of a hit. So what can happen is a light comes on, you turn it off by hand and a few seconds later a repeat command turns it back on! This repetition can last 20 seconds.

So it’s a compromise, no neutral wire needed, no battery needed, but slow response at times. If find the double switches the most problematic, you turn off one light and the second one won’t turn off for a few seconds even manually.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt was a fairly straightforward installation. Wired Line (red or brown ) to L and the return to L1.
No need for a neutral, which is rarely the case on Alexa compatible switches.
The earth connection was a bit flimsy but OK.
I needed a 20mm spacer rather than the 10mm I was expecting, which saved digging out the brick wall for a deeper back box.
Pairing to Alexa was normal….assign a name and group to the switch….’Alexa discover devices’… Done. In my case I assigned the name ‘Kitchen’ to the switch and a new Group ‘Kitchen’ because I have other Energenie devices on group timers.
No more groping around for the light switch with full hands.
Despite the spacer it look good.
I did not read the specification of compatible bulbs so with my standard LEDs the lights strobed when they were turned off. Energenie provided the answer, quickly, to use dimmable LEDs. My fault entirely!
The switch is not dimmer and never claimed to be. However it does require dimmable LEDs or halogen bulbs.
I bought a set of 6 Sylvania GU10 Daylight 5w dimmable LEDs. That solved the problem of my own making. As a bonus they are much brighter than the old 5W LEDs
It can be a bit laggy but it varies.

These are great. Tough to install as they are a tight fit, but once in they work very well. I have had them now for a couple of months and they have functioned as needed. Work well with Alexa. Great if you get in bed on a cold night and forget to turn off the light. Just ask Alexa to turn of Bedroom light. That simple. Works as a group to so I just say Alex turn everything off in the bedroom and the light on the on suite, the main bedroom lights and the TV all turn off. Only thing I would comment is when in a group the delay on one of the lights turning off/on after the other is around 3 secs. Not sure if this is Alexa or the switches. If you wish to put Alex optionally controlled lights in the UK these are perfect. Work with Alexa and manually, so can inter-switch operation of turning on or off. You will need the hub to work with Alexa.

Good looking switch and does its job perfectly. Interacts well with Alexa. It’s a deep switch though so we had to buy a spacer which we picked up from screwfix for 0.99 this means it doesn’t sit flush with the wall, but this will depend on how deep your back boxes are as to whether you need this too

Fitting this switch is no harder than any normal one. I did have to modify the box slightly to get it to fit properly but I knew that on purchase
