Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve purchased about 20 Ezviz cameras over the past 5 years for my home and workplace. They all have a lot of similarities and tend to work well. I like that I can view all of my home and work cameras on a single screen simultaneously (desktop app) and the camera feeds load almost instantly on a phone.

This outdoor camera is no exception. I got it when it was on offer for about 21, and this is a huge amount of camera for that price.

No, it’s not metal construction, but tough plastic, I’m sure it will be weatherproof, however. I actually got this camera to keep an eye on my puppy. She likes to destroy things, and this camera replaces an Ezviz pan/tilt dome camera that she destroyed. About a month in, this outdoor camera is unscathed, despite her best efforts. I can therefore say that it’s tough.

It works every bit as well as my other Ezviz cameras and has a nice wide angled lens for covering a large area. The night vision works well, albeit black and white, unlike my top of the range dual lens Ezviz, which manages to add colour even with very minimal ambient light.

The one thing that this camera does better than any of my other Ezviz cameras is for some reason when looking through recordings on the SD card, it shows thumbnails so that you can see what triggered the recording. You usually only get thumbnails if you subscribe to the cloud backup service. This is actually a big plus.

Image quality is good. If you’ve got a super fast Internet speed, you may prefer to go for a 4k or 8k camera. Unfortunately, my ‘superfast broadband’ isn’t as fast as it should be, so 1080p is sufficient for me.

I don’t think you can go too far wrong with this camera, especially for the price.

    I hope this was helpful!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood product misleading promotions. Good quality, vision, easy to instal, easy app. You have to buy additional wires, memory card and cloud. Promotions are misleading – If You keep tracking start to notice “hot offer” is not so “hot” – discount half price, than voucher, then sale – but basic price remain the same.

Great purchase, excellent product, clear pictures. Option to use night camera in black and white until motion detected and then colour kicks in showing even more detail. Sound is very sensitive and picks up wind noise but OK to talk to my dogs outside if they happen to start barking while I’m out! Bit of a faff to set up link to WiFi butgot there eventually. Much better than having wires to install. Would advise also buying an sd card to increase storage capacity. Highly recommended purchase

The camera works great when watching live, but not always great when trying to watch notifications through the app, it comes up with video played when nothing as. Couldn’t get it to play through my Chromecast but works well on the amazon stick.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersBought this camera to replace a competitors camera which has high star reviews on here and I have no idea why as I sent it back after a day. This camera is miles ahead. People obviously like cheap, insecure products and oblivious of what more they can get for the same money!

Unit arrived secured in a film wrapped box, with power adapter, fixings and power extension cable. No Ethernet cable, but who doesn’t have one of those these days?! Not needed for WiFi setup.

Device has solid metal construction, it’s also smaller than I thought which is good. On power on the unit does talk you through the steps (big of a gimmick, but can see how it could be useful) of connecting up to the App and online in less then 10 minutes. Unlike the more popular alternative this device has its own application, which is clearly professionally done and ensures images are encrypted.

I have not opted for the cloud storage at the moment, but just have it recording to a SD card, set to event record only – you can have it record continuously.

Image quality great, motion detection is sensitive to rain but doesn’t really bother me as I have it set to notify on human section only.

I was sceptical about the ball joint adjustment, as thought it could keep dropping down being used to the traditional hex keys screws, was happy to find it does tighten up well so not an issue.

Only 4 stars as let down by a few bugs in the app. Can’t seem to set the light timer as it does not save the changes and the firmware upgrade seems to keep failing.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI recently wrote a review on this camera saying how bad it was. That the Ai was rubbish and not picking up anything. Also, the SD card playback was jittery and not working properly, so slow. You had to wait ages to be able to watch it back and It kept saying video not available, but it would eventually load.
I have to update this review because I had sent the first two back. I thought I would try one more time. Only because I like the other Eviz camera I have in the garden, and I can’t have loads of different APPs for every camera.
So, this turned out to be 3rd time lucky. The Camera works well. It picks up maybe 9 out of 10 times. The video play back is much better, quicker. if I had got this camera the first time, I wouldn’t have complained.
Would I recommend this camera… if I had got this one the first time then yes, I would say it’s well worth the money. But I didn’t get this camera, and it took ages to get here.
The video quality is really good. Also, if you watch some YouTube video some guy explains how you can have colour night vision on all the time without the lights coming on the camera. I got to say, the night vision is really good quality on this setting. As long as there is a streetlight nearby or some light outside then this works. Otherwise, you have three standard settings to choose from on the phone app which are still good. You need the PC software to be able to do this night vision fix. this same YouTube video explains how to do the work around on the PC App. It has more advance settings than the phone app. But you don’t really need it. The camera is good enough without all the adjustments.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe app and the camera are working well so far. But there are a few caveats. The WiFi is only available through the 2.4GHz range. The motion detection is VERY sensitive – not necessarily a bad thing but in a garden the wind moving through plants trees and leaves needs to be modified to a low setting to stop spurious notifications. The monitored area can also modified to eliminate problem areas too. The most harsh criticism is the 12v power adapter required to feed the device, this is NOT designed for outdoor use and requires its own enclosure. Something to bare in mind when setting up half way down the garden ! If your set up allows a drilled hole into a room in your house and you’re installing on an outside wall this is straight forward. If your installing away from an indoor mains supply you’ll need a qualified electrician !

4.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor Camera - sort of !

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this rather than a video doorbell as it has a better coverage of the front of the house. I can still talk to people over the camera although I have not had the opportunity to try that out yet on other people.
Relatively easy to set up but does need a good Wifi signal. I ended up plugging in a range extender to enable live view as the app said the camera was off line. Fortunately I had one to hand.
I am still experimenting with the sensitivity of the motion detection which is a bit too sensitive. I have been gradually reducing sensitivity as it was being set off by moths and the shadows of birds flying overhead as well as switching on a light in the entrance overnight. Last night it was set off by the rain. Fortunately I use do not disturb on my phone overnight. You can also switch off movement detection on a schedule. Hence only 4 stars.
The quality of the picture and coverage angle is excellent. Night vision is monochrome but also good.
I have switched off auto install firmware updates as after the first update on installation I had to reset the camera and reinstall it on the app.
Overall a good piece of kit so far. that I do not regret buying I cannot comment on long term reliability yet.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a great camera and really good value. Excellent picture quality (in 3 levels depending how much bandwidth you want to use), good audio recordings, easy to control from the EZVIZ app, easy to view recorded detections. It’s easy to set up and install, though you need to put it somewhere sheltered, or the view will quickly get messed up by rain and deposits – there is no “hood” over the lens . However, be wary of the claims that it integrates with Google/Nest Home – it does, but only to some extent. So, you can turn it on and off from Home/Nest (e.g. by voice commands) once it is linked, but it won’t stream a picture to Google displays. To see the picture you have to use the EZVIZ app (on your phone). If you want a camera that WILL display on your Google Hub screen, go to Google’s web pages and see exactly which 3rd party cameras stream through. At the moment, in the UK, EZVIZ does not. I’m not sure what it’s like with Amazon Show screens, I don’t have Amazon devices.
