I swapped these for my original ST622 alarms because the battery life on those was never anywhere near the adverts, and these allow me to keep the existing base plates. They seem to be just as well made, with the advantage of replaceable batteries, but I have one concern.

When you hit the test button the alarm sounds at reduced volume. I know this is handy so it doesn’t damage your hearing, but it’s also not a real test. How do I know the alarm is capable of going off at full volume? There’s extra circuitry involved and that feels like an additional thing that might go wrong. Just something as simple as having a five second timer instead so I can be clear before it goes off would give me more confidence.

These smoke alarms are very easy to assemble and install following clear instructions. There was no difficulty fitting alarm to base once the batteries were fitted. I will report back in a year or so’s time on battery life.

We bought these when our house burned down after a flash flood. Luckily there was enough grip in the burned out rafters to get them in. For some strange reason the people who do our house insurance were not that impressed.

Good product I think but 1 started to “scream” at 5am with no reason. I think that the battery died. I don’t know if this is a known fault but there you go.
I guess you can go for a more expensive one. Hopefully those ones are not having the same issues.

Has only gone off once in error, but it woke me up in the night so it does its job. Imagine my relief to find the house was not in fact on fire! The dog on the other hand did get discovered on the sofa!!!

The two halves of these smoke alarms will not fit together without the batteries being fitted. This is a safety precaution. These alarms are very well made and fit together perfectly once the batteries are in place.

Bought the twin pack. Easy to put together. It’s designed so you can’t put front cover on without batteries being installed. Very loud when activated and essential equipment for your personal safety.

Many reviews say the unit will not fit into the mounting bracket, WRONG, insert the batteries first this lowers the 2 spring clips which then lets the alarm easily attach to the mounting bracket. When I received these I tried to fit the alarm to the mounting bracket without inserting the batteries – No Chance. Hope this helps.

Easy to fit on any surface with supplied fixings.
Remember when trying to fit unit into base that the batteries MUST be installed.
This is an obvious safety feature so the unit can not be installed without batteries.

These seem to be good value for money. I particularly wanted smoke alarms where you can change the batteries when necessary rather than throw the whole unit away. Easy to fit and loud alarm.

Hopefully battery will last a while and a big plus is you can change them. The last fire angel we had had a 10 year battery life on it and it did not last twelve months.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had previously two smoke detectors from FireAngle which had a non-replaceable battery. Unfortunately the life span on them was not the five – ten years as stated (more like three). So when one started to “chirp” we replaced them both with this model. I am happy with this replacement as the batteries (two AA) are able to be replaced! The slight downside is that the mounting bracket is smaller than the previous model, meaning that a little bit of filler and paint was required to tidy up the area around the previous drill holes.

Overall, for the cost, ease of installation, coupled with the fact the batteries are replaceable, I am very pleased with this purchase. Definitely recommended.

Advised by my son to purchase this pair. He uses them at his home. Goid battery life and when the alert rings after 5 orc10 years, just replace the whole thing. Twist lock set up, so very easy to install or replace. Good recommendation for anyone.
    Wall or ceiling mount.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersStraightforward to install and use. Batteries are replaceable (which is not the case on all smoke alarms). Includes a useful, simple safety feature: the unit can only be installed on the base plate if batteries are fitted.
    Highly recommended.
