All in all, very pleased with it.
The box was a little difficult to assemble. I had to take a rubber mallet to some of the nuts because the hole was not drilled accurately.
Once assembled, it is a nice-looking, sturdy box. I was going to use it without the bottom for a hose box. But looking at it, it is too nice for that, so I am using it on my lanai as an end table. It is a little too high to sit on, but I may cut the legs shorter.
I will probably end up painting it because it gets a lot of rain and sunlight.
It's a great size for my chair cushions. I just wish it was water tight/solid. I did line it with heavy plastic to keep the dust and occasional rain out.

I got exactly what I expected. A nicely designed and tiki stained storage bench. It went together perfectly, although the instructions aren’t clear regarding the placement of the hinges. I had to guess and was wrong the first time. Right at three inches from the back wall and flush on top was the right combination. Not waterproof but it didn’t state that it was. Good for the price!

This Deck Box was difficult to put together. Take the springs (from the top) out before installing. I took the top trim off, applied glue, and drilled holes through each of the three sections before reattaching. I also used my trim nailer and nailed the sides to make it more secure. We then applied clear exterior wood sealer.

It was easy to assemble and looks really nice on my deck. But, after the first rain I opened it and everything was soaked. I solved the problem by caulking all the seams and put water resistant on the lid.
Sure wish that I hadn’t had to go through all that.
Just got this together while the weather was nice. Went together so fast & I was feeling good but then got to the spring. Sweet baby Jesus. They are strong & wail like a mythical creature when you open or close it. Tried loosening but that didn’t help much. I may just take one or both springs off as another reviewer suggested. Seems unnecessary any way. Manufacturer – how bout one less spring & add a lock or latch of some kind?
This is the cheapest Teak chest you are going to find by at least $100. There are some acacia wood chest out there for little more. Overall this is good value but there are some issues you should take into account.
WORKMANSHIP: Good fit. Simple but well manufactured. The hinges are an issue. (See Below)
MATERIALS: All the Rails, the Top and the bottom are solid Teak. (See Images) The infill panels are Teak plywood not solid, but it is Teak. This is probably the reason it is only $112.
FINISH: I would recommend you buy some Teak Oil and put a second coat on them before you assemble. It will take about 16 oz. per chest. Depending on your weather and the box location, you will need to do this every one to two years.
ASSEMBLY: The box is EASY to assemble. You do need to second set of hands to help put it together, unless you are a major DIYer and are use to working alone (then tape/clamps). My daughter helped me.
HINGES: The major weakness in the design. The hinges are spring loaded. the lid will stay open and closed until you choose. This would include in a hurricane. This does make it varmint and child proof. Use the spring adjustment bolt to lessen the tension on the springs. NOW here is the real problem. The hinges are so strong and teak is a soft wood. The screws provided work fine to attach the hinges to the SIDES of the chest, but will pull out of the TOP. What i did is replaced the TOP screws with #10 yellow zinc alloy bolts, washers, lock washers and nuts. ($6.00 at HD. See Attached images). You have to drill a hole through the lid. If you do not want to go to this effort, then I recommend replacing the TOP screws with #12 x 3/4″ zinc coated screws. These threads should be big enough to hold, but I wanted to make sure I did not have to come back.
NOT WEATHERPROOF: Sides are but the TOP is not (would let rain through the slats). I have it on a back porch so not a problem. You could caulk the TOP slats from the inside and then it would waterproof.
I bought two of these chest and actually just ordered a third. Good Luck, I hope you read this before you buy it. Gle
I really don’t have many complaints about this storage container. It was delivered undamaged and all parts there. All of it came together very well accept one of the screws broke off at the top while screwing it in didn’t get it far in the wood or used much force and it broke off. Once i finally had it all put together had trouble with the hinged part it wouldnt close so i took the springs off and it works just fine. This was purchased to be used indoors as storage and i must say i am pleased with the size and how much i can put in it since it’s being used to store blankets and sheets. I would purchase again.
The lid utilizes a spring hinge mechanism, and the spring is really strong. The box is fairly lightweight, so if you don't have heavy objects in it, you have to hold the corner of the box to open the lid to avoid lifting the entire box.

Works for storing stuff and to sit on in our hot tub room, pain in the butt to put together though and the lid like pops up super fast and aggressively
Good box
Better instructions , best to remove spring From hinge and fix to side panels first.offer lid to side panel allowing half inch overhang of lid mark holes to run pilot holes late
Good solid garden box that will not blow away in the wind
Good solid garden box that will not blow away in the wind. Have arthritis in hands so can not tell you if it is an easy assembly as man next door did it for me but he did it in half an hour. It has a good firm closing lid that does not flap about or rattle with the wind.
Took a few minutes to put this together like all imports but this box is great looking and serves a purpose too! I use this for my patio to store all my pool stuff in like my pool cleaning robot and lounge cushions. I bought some teak oil and coated it thoroughly and it looks awesome on my pool deck. Classic wood look is a lot better than that plastic stuff they are selling. Looks expensive but from the price of the plastic stuff, it is about the same cost and well worth it. I added a lounge cushion to the top so that you can sit on it near the pool. If you want it waterproof, just add some weather proof lining inside the box using a staple gun. Love my new deck box and will be buying another to store other patio stuff with.
As others have said, the hinges are bad. They are too tight, the springs are too big, they are loud and possibly dangerous. Maybe the thought is to keep the lid from flying open? I don’t know. The instructions were good, but the container of screws and bolts was smashed and they were loose in the packaging. Luckily, the package was taped closed and only one screw was missing. I don’t think the top is waterproof there are gaps between the boards, but I think I will caulk it from the inside.
It looks good and I like the color. It is light weight and I think it will work good for my cushions.
Few months ago, we’ve got a Furinno outdoor bench as housewarming gift from a friend. We love the style of it so I decided to buy another piece to match with that chair. Found a few pieces on Amazon in different styles, couldn’t decide which one should I get because they all look nice and very affordable! So I ended up bought the hardwood deck box (which can be used as storage and coffee table) and the hardwood New Mexico glider (which my children enjoy sitting and rocking on it). My husband took less than 1 hour to assemble both pieces. Surprisingly, they don’t look cheap at all! With the money that I’ve paid, the quality of the furniture is really out of my expectation. Although they are not “super high quality”, they do look like they are durable and gonna last for years in my backyard!! They are in right size, not too big nor too small. They are in right weight, heavy enough to be sat on and light enough to be moved around. Thanks Furinno! I will definitely come shop again and recommend you to my friends!!
