I had bought a much cheaper version of this type of hose, and though it lasted only a couple of months before bursting I really liked how easy it was around the garden. Everything Hozelock I have purchased before has lasted many years so I have high hopes for this, it feels much higher quality so I don’t think I’ll be dissapointed. Great product!
This hose really does expand! It takes a little while to fill up but once it’s full it’s great. Love how it contracts for easy storage afterwards. One thing I’ve noticed is that I don’t need to have the tap on full power when watering, this hose generates more pressure which is a good thing for saving water. Only used a couple of times so far, the great british summer has done the watering for me!
After an operation I have can no longer use the old heavy garden hose pipe. This is the most simplest garden hose you can get, lightweight easy to move and simply to put into a bucket when you have finished. Even my wife will use it.
I’ve had Hozelock flexible hoses before, but I need to take better care of them. If I leave them out, lying on the ground, the foxes have a nibble. Or I trail them too carelessly around sharp corners of raised beds. So regular repairs have been necessary. And they are expensive. However, they are much easier to use, for me, than regular hoses that trail across and damage plants or get between my feet and create a trip hazard. So, for me, they are worth it.
The item is as expected. However as a “prime” customer I am disappointed that the item was delivered by Evri after three days when prime is supposed to be one day
By comparison this is a quality product and looks and feels like it will give good service.
I love this hose. So light and easy to use.
This is my second purchase because my first one did leak after a few years. You have to look after them. Drain them and store them inside in winter, don’t drag them over gravel or other rough areas. And don’t let pressure build up by turning it off at the nozzle! Turn it on and off at the tap to avoid pressure building up.
If you are careful it should last a few years. I have a more sturdy hose as well, but that is hard work to use and difficult to reel in.
Have a fairly odd set up at home whereby the outside tap is at the front of the house and the back garden is quite long. There’s a hose already attached to the tap so I wanted to connect the Superhoze direct to that hose to get the full benefit of its length. Had to get a male-to-male adaptor for that and wasn’t sure if the Superhoze would work properly with that set up. Good news is that it does. So it’s just what I needed. Only used it once so can’t comment on its durability but solves my lawn watering problem for now.
Worked great for 2 years then it popped like a balloon and the 5 year guarantee it says on the box is rubbish. you can only get in touch within the 2 years only so just missed out.
This is my second Hozelock hose and I love it. Easy to use, never kinks and is easy to store away. I put it in a flower pot with a saucer on top to keep it dry if it rains.
But I was expensively replacing one I got 2 years ago which burst. It doesn’t like being dragged around gravel and paths. But how else can you use it? When it does work it’s great.
A mate needed a new hose but doesn’t have much space, so when I told him about this style of hose he was instantly eager to try it, the space it saves him is massive, the only danger (if you can call it that) is due to the way it opens out when you turn the tap onoff, if you are not paying attention you could trip on it if you’re not that steady anymore (as is in his case), otherwise it’s pretty good, it comes with auto stop ends fitted (on both ends), meaning you can swap guns without having to turn the water off if you wanted, so to release the pressure and shrink the hose you have to hold the gun after turning the tap off to let the water empty from the hose and then it shrinks back down for easy storage.
The only downside I could list is that it leaks, I’m not talking about anything that would mean returning the hose, because I don’t know if it’s supposed to leak what with this being my first experience with such a hose, he puts it under cover as I told him to so the sun doesn’t degrade it (it’s in the info with the hose), but like hoses I’ve had over the years, sometimes you get that slight leak from the connections, bit like a leaky washer, so you couldn’t run this through from the rear to the front of the house (it’s a mid-terrace with no side access) so you would get your carpets wet etc, but I have had normal hoses do the same thing, hence assuming it as a normal thing, but I dare say some will get lucky and be water tight, but it’s the only niggle I have with it, otherwise it’s great.
This is great for my needs. I live in a terrace house and I need a hose that runs through the house to the front garden so that I can water my 17 planters!
It works perfectly so no more carrying heavy watering cans of water. It folds up into a plastic carrier bag and I can store it indoors. Totally happy with this.
I was going to buy a retractable hose to mount on the wall but this is a perfect solution.
I wasn’t sure how long it would be but it will do. I will have to buy a longer one though. My old one lasted years so I considered the quality was good.
I love this hose, its easy to use and store away. I would have given this 5 stars if it lasted longer. I got 2 years from when I bought the last one which burst when using it.
This is a great expanding hose, it takes a little getting used to, – like being able to still use the hose when the tap is turned off – or hose is uncoupled, but works great.
This hose is really light so easy to use. I’ve used it a few times now and the only downside is the water has to be emptied before it shrinks back. So I’ll turn the water off before I’ve finished watering the garden next time.
I’ve been told that a hook used to be supplied to hang the hose on. That would be useful but there wasn’t one in the box I received.
Hopefully this hose will last a long time as it is really nice to use.
Previous 2hoses failed due to inner tubing burst
Have not seen a suitable alternative that offers the same benefits
For me 30 mtr length too long 15 mtr length too short with nothing in between. Maybe the reason for inner tube rupture
This is the second time I’ve purchased a Hozelock Superhoze. Unfortunately the first one burst as I’d left it full of water pressure while sat in the hot sun, causing the internals to melt. But, that would happen with any hose so it’s more user error than a fault with the hose.
The only small downside of the Superhoze is that the internal diameter of the hose is quite small compared to your standard garden hose, so the water flow is a little lower. But as long as you’re not filling up a swimming pool or a pond, the Superhoze will be perfect for you!
Basically, these hoses are great while they last, but I find that after a year they spring a leak which – due to the expanding nature of the hose – can not be repaired.
However, I’ve had the hose replaced twice: once by Amazon, after I’d had it just over a year; and as that replacement hose is now leaking a further year down the line, it is being replaced by Hozelock under their 3 year guarantee. I’m pleased to say, both claims have been hassle free.
I’d say our use is pretty standard. We have a long garden with a lot of potted plants on a patio at the far end, so the fact that you don’t have to reel in the hose every time you use it is a real bonus. I’d recommend storing the hose in a plastic crate with a few holes drilled in the base for drainage.
In terms of the leaks, since the first hose failed we’ve been very careful to ensure the replacement hose did not snag against the corner of a wall or edge of a step, but our efforts were obviously in vain! For that reason I’d advise to expect to not get much more than a years use if you’re regularly using the full reach of the hose and have walls / steps the hose will have to trail over or around.
Will I buy another one when our third hose (2nd replacement) inevitably starts to leak in a years time, when Hozelock’s very good 3 year guarantee has expired? Probably not to be honest, I think I’ll go for a traditional hose on a good quality wall mounted reel. I’d definitely stick with Hozelock as a brand, however.
