Compact and powerful
I bought two of these specifically to make jams and pickles on as using the main cooker often meant a lot of cleaning. These are perfect, instant heat, and, 9 power levels help do anything from hard boil to a low simmer, cleaning is a simple wipe over – brillia
Brilliant single induction hob
My portable induction hob is absolutely brilliant. It is slim and neat, and can be packed away easily when not in use. It is perfect for my requirements, I’m delighted with it. It arrived very quickly – what more can you ask? Thank you Amazo
Better than expected
This portable induction hob is very reasonably priced and for that reason exceeded my expectations. It cooks well, is incredibly fast at heating up pans and offers about 10 different heating settings.
Our primary use for this induction hob is Chinese hot pots – so boiling a large pot of water to continuously cook food in rather than frying with oil. I read reviews that suggested the heating settings are not appropriate for this – but actually it has exceeded my expectations against other reviews and does a decent job of hot pots.
It’s true that the heating settings are not analogue like a gas hob, in which you can choose specifically the temperature you want and leave it at that through the size of the flame. Instead, this hob will provide the selected temperature by pulse heating – so will provide a short burst of high power and then switch off for a few seconds to try and maintain temperature, before another burst of power. For our hot pot dinners, this has actually worked very well and the different settings do enable you to maintain a boil or to slow down to a near consistent simmer.
The hob is super easy to clean as it’s a flat surface top, easy to move and is pretty lightweight. Overall, it’s proven great for a cheaper solution from a less known brand. Recommended.
very good but not suitable for temperature sensitive cooking.
This little hob cooks things incredibly quickly and with no fuss. Be careful, as it will boil over very quickly if not watched. The lowest setting 1 is still quite strong. As it uses a stop start system to adjust heat it is not very good with sauces for example. Otherwise great. The noise is no big deal. You are cooking!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good temporary fix
I am awaiting for my cooker to be delivered and bought this one to use in the mean time. Good piece of equipment for emergencies like that. Boils stuff very quickly, just bear in mind that the main heat source is right in the middle and is not distrubuted evenly throughout the plate and can burn food there on higher power levels. It is also quite noisy. I wouldn’t use it as my main cooker but I like it as a temporary fix.
I bought this for an outdoor kitchen for around 36 and did not have high hopes for its quality or ease of use. HOW WRONG I WAS!
It works perfectly, responsively, and is so easy to use. I paid over 100 for another brand (which is excellent), and whilst this one is a little bit “plastiky”, it certainly delivers on all other fronts.
If you’re not sure, just buy it – especially if you haven’t used induction before – you will not be disappointed!
GREAT VALUE for money.
4.0 out of 5 stars So good I bought 2
I’ve had one of these now for about 6 months, and it’s been fantastic. Easy to clean, performs better than you’d think, and is super easy to use. My only gripe is there is rarely a case to go over setting 3-4 as things start burn fast, to the point where it feels like the higher settings are pointless.
Very impressed with this. I use it in the garden with a large saute pan. Instantly responsive to temp change. Pasta doesn’t boil over. Simple controls – high heat to very low simmer. Very easy to clean. Neat and lightweight to be portable and store in cupboard but heavy enough to feel robust. Plenty big enough that a 28cm pan does not cover any of the controls. There is no plastic edge (a negative with other designs). I looked at electric saute pans etc but this is more versatile as you can use different types of pans. Useful additional hob to have in the kitchen.
There is no temperature adjustment. Its just adjustment for frequency. Heating it in pulses. Like 2 seconds on then 10 seconds of and so on. So hoter you set the more frequently it will pulsate. My idea was to use with solar batteries but it’s not working for me as I wanted. It’s to short pulses of heating cycle so my battery hoes crazy and can’t adjust that fast charge and discharge. For my needs better would be diferent type cooker. This one boils water in half time comparing to another hobs.
Very fast response time.
I’m still learning timings/temps etc but much faster than my halogen hob. I use pans no bigger than 26″ and heat coverage is fine, saves time and electric apparently so can’t complain.
Easy to use and clea
I was very surprise at how good this actually was after using a ceramic hob. It heats up very quickly and has a not too loud fan, quieter than my electric kettle in action. The controls are easy to use and I love the timer on it as well. I did notice a difference in heat evenness when used with different pans though. I have some induction compatible pans which don’t seem to spread the heat out as well as my old heavier stainless steel ones do, which are also fully induction certified. My 26mm induction compatible fry pan for instance seemed to have a central hot spot so I stopped using it and bought a new 26mm stainless steel non stick induction one and that works perfectly. All in all I am very pleased with the purchase and wished I had got induction sooner.
Read instructions
It is fantastic. You need the induction pans. Amazon has marked it best buy. It is simple to use. Again you NEED INDUCTION PANS.
Then it will boil your 1 egg quickly.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.
USEFUL, PORTABLE AND EASY TO USE
At under 40, I am pleased with my recent purchase.
It is noisy but the fan noise of an induction is an acceptable trade for the fast cooking.
Only used a few times so far, but so far pleased with the high heat it achieves fast and with the low settings for slow cooking.
Heat settings 1 to 9. Some experimenting is needed to find the right temperatures setting. Found high settings not always necessary as its powerful.
Maximum button makes high heat access when cooking, fast but there is no minimum heat button, so need several button presses to go down through the settings to get to the lowest heat from a high heat.
Comparison to a previous induction:
There is no quick minimum setting button and I am missing using that quick turn down option.
My previous induction had a sloped control console, protecting it from the pan area but this one is flat. So I now have to be careful to place pots and pans away from the controls that are in front of the heating area, to avoid damage. This also restricts the size of pots that can be used to make sure they do not overlap the console.
Despite these comparisons for below 40 this was a good purchase. Above this price, I would probably be looking for a minimum button for ease of use.
The package was cold because it is winter, so waited a while before using it. Too much writing on the hob. The do not touch hot surface makes children want to touch it to find out if its true. The fan was too noisy when I cooked my baked beans. It was too hot and boiled my beans and did not simmer unless i used the lowest setting. I havent tried the hottest setting yet as I didnt want to burn my beans. Might fry an egg later. Will use until my cooker is fixed and then put in the loft in case it breaks again. Do you think this review is too long, as i can try writing less next time.
For those who know nothing about induction cooking, this is an excellent way to explore the possibilities and the potential offered by the system before, perhaps, plunging into the cost of a new hob.
The problem of induction suitable pans was a concern but I was happy to find that many of my newer pans complied, especially the cast iron skillet which heats up remarkably quickly and yet is easily controllable.
Of course I am a newby but I whole heartedly recommended after a few weeks of using.
I wanted one of these to try, and this was about the cheapest option, very impressed, once boiling (which doesn’t take long at all) I can reduce the heat to 2 or 3 for cooking so must be saving me lots on cooking costs, very quick to respond when I need to turn it up or down too
