The disposable odour filters for the Joseph Joseph kitchen food caddy are made from carbon foam and definitely work, but if you empty the caddy every day and wash it out each time, you may not even need them as the caddy will remain essentially odour free.

This came with my Joseph Joseph being as a spare part as in the deal. I have looked since on how much they are to replace. I think a little bit expensive but they do do a very good job.

My bin is not normally smelly but these filters seem to keep in fresh. I have not detected any fragrance from the filter when I put it in to the holder. The holder is in the lid of the bin but be sure to clip it in safely or it can fall into the bin.

I got this bin as my main kitchen bin didn’t keep the smell out as I thought I needed something to put my food waste in. I was fortunate enough to be in TK Maxx where I bought the Joseph Joseph food waste caddy but someone had taken the filters out so I bought them here on Amazon and I was pleasantly surprised my kitchen didn’t smell anymore. Highly recommended.

Does exactly what it says it will do but as it has the Joseph Joseph label it’s flipping expensive for what it is. I know I could buy a big sheet of the stuff and cut it to size but then I’d have to store the sheet somewhere and that would be a pain so more fool me for paying the price. That said, it works.

Two thins pieces of active carbon foam, they do seem to work and make a difference but they are a bit expensive.

Work for both the larger bins and the smaller food caddy’s.

I expect were paying a premium for the fact the item is trimmed to fit perfectly, i might try cutting up some aquarium foam as a replacement at some stage.

Be warned, dont leave them in the bin too long when old or they will grow and accumulate rot.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was sceptical to the Joseph Joseph food bin claims to stop odours escaping into the kitchen. I bit the bullet and am so glad I did. It makes a massive difference compared to the one supplied by my local authority. It will eventually begin to smell but replace the odour pad and you’re good to go again.

Nice that they are environmentally friendly but make sure you change them often. Wet or warm items (such as used tea bags) will begin to help the bag decompose quite quickly and allow liquid through. Will buy them again, just need to make sure I change them!

These are good at keeping the smell contained to the JJ caddy but tou need to replace the every other week which can get way to expensive nice smart looking caddy but works out to not be worth the cost of replacement filters.

The price is a bit excessive, especially to help ‘doing my bit’ for the environment. If these were half it’s price, I’d be more happy purchasing these. I’ve yet to find a cheaper non branded alternative.

Joseph and Joseph make some innovative products but being a bit cack handed i managed to ruin the filter on the bin. These are an original fit replacement at a reasonable price so really can’t complain.

So far so good – these do really seem to work well – we can’t smell the food waste, so they do what they say they do, and were pretty easy to replace so no complaints.

I do like this caddy and it looks good in my kitchen. However, I find that the lid does not open back enough to make it stable enough when you need it to stay open whilst you scrape food in. It will do it but It is a fine balancing act I.e. You can’t open the lid quickly and just expect it to stay there. You have to sort of steady it before it stays. Annoying for something that is not cheap.

This is an excellent bin which enables our recycling proportion to exceed 90%.
The replacement liners are a truffle expensive but compatible and very much cheaper food waste bags are available from our local authority. The bin is very best in our small kitchen; a possible improvement would be a peddle to lift the upper compartment lid.
