Ideal gift to keep a child occupied.
Bought for an 8 year old. It kept him quiet for ages and I only had to help with the assembly once. I love things that keep children occupied and out of your way.
Lego. What’s not to like?
I’ve yet to find a Lego model that I don’t like, and this one sits nicely on my shelf next to all my James Bond DVDs/BluRays. Easy and fun build.
The Aston Martin of our Dreams.
It must be 40 odd years since I have build a Lego car. I’m completely star wars lego obsessed and never venture of that aspect of Lego builds.
This was bought at a big discount so it was too cheap to turn down even if it isn’t my thing. I’m glad I bought t it.
Its a lovely car kit, I enjoyed every minute of it and it’s surprising in its complexity. Silver parts for the bumpers, movable seats and steering wheel, rubber tyres that roll extremely well. Extra detail is added via stickers and there are multiple different registration plates for it that can be swapped. No opening doors or bonnet sadly but for the RRP who cares?
Well worth it for the mini James Bond too.
Great price and lots of fun to build
A great Lego kit. Fun to build. No bond like features though . You change the number plates yourself . For the price that’s what I expected. A little novelty would have been fun. A child under 8 would need help with this kit.
Brilliant build
Excellent little set to build when you have a bit of time on your hands. Great design, fun to put together and mini James Bond too – what’s not to love!
Fun Little James Bond Lego se
Fun little project. I liked how some traditional parts were used creatively eg. the binoculars as exhaust pipes! Looks good and easy to put together. Cool James Bond figurine included.
Great for DB5 Fans
Obviously it’s LEGO, so not the best model for design accuracy but still a lovely piece to have on the show, and thanks to its reasonable price, you can play with it without worrying about damaging anything. Fun build and great for old Aston fans.
Absolutely amazing
Absolutely amazing product only 1 or 2 problems
Problem 1 a black rounded 2×1 stud is missing from the exhaust pipe area however a spare 1×1 tile can be used as if you don’t add something in the exhaust isn’t visible.
Small issue with the back window piece being quite loose with inly having 2 studs holding it in place a small nudge would dislodge
However overall the design and interchangeable license plates make the product that much more realistic and is quite detailed for the scale of it.
I will be purchasing other models in the future most likely the fast and furious model.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bond. Lego bond
The db5 is such an iconic car. Especially from the bond series. So having this set based on the car was a no brainer for both car fans and Lego fans. The build is complicated enough to stay fun and interesting. But not too difficult that younger builders should struggle too much with it. The design is amazing. Really bringing the shape of the vehicle to life with the use of some really interesting and creative bricks and shapes. Some really nice printed bricks bring the front grill and lights to life with minimal stickers. The inclusion of a Daniel Craig inspired mini figure and the extra number plates which represent the cars each appearances in the franchise is a very lovely and welcome touch.
Overall a great product and a must buy
Lovely solid car once built and a pretty accurate representation of the real car. The only problem I have with the latest speed champion sets as they seem a little large compared to minifigure size but, boy, do they make great display pieces and are very sturdy for play. The only fragile bits of the set are the little clips that come over the bumpers from under the car. They are easily knocked out of place. The roof, minus the front windscreen, lifts off to allow access to the interior. I wish that the roof would connect to the windscreen in some way as there is a little sag where they would meet (see pictures), but I can live with that. You get a few sets of extra silver plates and stickers to make up changeable number plates, very handy for a spy! Also there is a spare piece that looks surprisingly like a pistol. Overall I am delighted with this set.
Great as always
Perfect Lego set – I’m not a Bond fan but you don’t have to be to appreciate Lego and this iconic car. Easy build for the kids which they enjoyed doing them playing with
FOR YOUNGER BUYERS?
Bought for my 81 year old husband who spent ages on following the instructions but it seems that a couple of lego were short. Howeer he took it all apart twice and still hit the same problem. I tried to go though it with him but I must admit the instructions were not very easy to understand. Perhaps we are just a bit too old for Lego? Has not stopped my husband – my son bought him a BIG version of Batman’s car – so far he has disassempled it twice ….
This was one of two my son was wanting for his birthday.
The LEGO 76911 Speed Champions 007 Aston Martin DB5 James Bond Replica was delivered on time, the price was comparable to the others listed. This was one of two my son was wanting for his birthday. This is part of the speed champions sets.
LEGO 76911 Speed Champions 007 Aston Martin DB5 James Bond Replica Toy Car Model Kit
My son purchased this out of his saved up pocket money, he hasn’t watched any of the James Bond films as he’s too young for that but is a huge Speed Champions fan so was eager to get this set as soon as it was released as well as the Speed Champions Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger .
This is supplied in a compact box featuring a picture of the completed Lego car on the front, set in an action background scene and it looks like it may be doing some wheels spins, on the back the car has been set with various cities in the background, although we do have a picture of the original car for comparison.
So this is set number 76911 featuring the Aston Martin DB5 as driven by James Bond himself. The set contains 298 pieces, the construction manual has 85 steps for completion, it took my 10 year old about an hour to complete. There’s quite a few stickers to apply, 19 in total although 8 of these are for the numerous licence plates. My son didn’t encounter any issues whilst building the set, I think he was glad that the front grill and headlights had been already applied and as these are a key feature of the car and it would’ve been a shame for these to go wrong, so good thinking off Lego.
The construction manual is now based on Lego’s newly designed colour and layout scheme, basically mostly all the covers found on Lego’s new sets look the same, the only obvious difference is the illustration and theme found in the top left corner. My son much prefers the older design as the books were very unique to the themes in question whereas now a Lego Minecraft manual looks just like a Lego Speed Champions manual, hopefully they’ll be changing it back.
The construction manual is easy to follow with good clear illustrations showing where the pieces have to go, each step will show you an image of the pieces required, on average 1-2 steps are found on each page. On each page through the manual is a completion line, what looks like a wheel, moves along so at least you get to see how close you’re to finishing.
This manual can be downloaded directly off Lego and thus can be viewed on a larger screen such as a tablet or laptop even, this allows for magnifying any images.
The car doesn’t have any of the 007 gadgetry as seen in the film although you do have the extra number plates to swap around. To be honest I wouldn’t expect this kind of stuff on a small Lego car, this would be too much detail and probably would be found on the much larger sets. The car registration plate is the same as shown in the original film, that I did notice which was a good touch.
The mini figure is rather cool and unique to this set, we see James Bond wearing a suit and bow tie, I can’t make out if this is the usual 3 piece suit mostly seen on Goldfinger or just a two piece, either way, he looks very cool and his hair is very neat.
The original Aston Martin DB5 was produced in 1963, even though it was manufactured in the UK the designer was actually Italian. A year later this car is featured in the James Bond movie ‘Goldfinger’ and became one of the iconic cars of James Bond. We are going back over 50 years to 1963 but this car actually could reach speeds of up to 145mph, had electric windows, yep, electric windows back in the 60’s. Aston Martin provided four cars for ‘Goldfinger’, two were used in the film production whereas the other 2 were purely for promotional purposes.
My son now wants to watch some of the films which he can do on his next birthday, best starting from the beginning I guess, that’s a lot of movies to get through to bringg him up to scratch to the present day, I wonder if he’ll become a James Bond fan.
Overall, 18 for this set is very good value for money and means it’s easily within reach for kids to save up their pocket money and buy this. My son gives this a 5 star award and I do also, another awesome looking set from Lego for the Speed Champions fans, and James Bond fans also!

This is one of those times I’ve sat staring at the screen contemplating a four or a five star rating. It’s a 4.5, but I’ve rounded it up because when I haven’t been staring at my screen I’ve been staring at the lovely little DB5 sat beside me. It’s really made me smile.
And I don’t understand why. Not why this is such a great little model, but how Lego have managed to do such a much finer job of reproducing one of the most iconic cars ever built in a small scale after they made a complete dogs dinner of the larger scale Creator version a few years ago.
What went wrong back then? Oh my, I remember the teaser trailer for it on social media. I nearly lost my mind in anticiaption of that. I’m a nerd-level James Bond fan, and the Aston Martin DB5 is such a stunning piece of automotive art I was fizzing with excitement at the prospect of owning a Lego version. And then I saw it. Have you ever seen the episode of The Simpsons when they unveil “The Homer” to huge fanfare, and everyone realises what an awful creation has appeared in front of them? It was that. I was so disappointed.
But roll on a few years and they’ve tried again. This time, they’ve chosen their Speed Champs range, a range that has massively improved this year since they increased the scale by a couple of bricks. They’ve since churned out some superb little models, my personal highlight being the Lamborghini Countach. Until now, because the DB5 is fabulous.
Let’s get it out of the way now, despite it being the James Bond 007 DB5, it has no trick optional extras fitted by Q-Branch. No revolving number plates or machine guns, or even an ejector seat. This might be a disappointment to some, and I’ll admit to thinking that it was poorer for that. You do get five different number plates though to choose from, but you have to manually change them yourselves. There are also a lot of stickers. Granted, 10 of those were the number plates, but there are quite a few others. Most of them are clear stickers with a badge or a door handle, which means that in particular light they show as a slightly different colour to the rest of the car.
And on that subject, the roof stands out a little. While the top of the roof is the same colour as the bodywork, the rear screen is quite a noticably different shade of grey and it really stands out. For those reasons, the lack of gadgets, stickers and the colour differences, I was going to give it four stars.
But, then I thought a bit more about it. I paid 18 for this on release day. I think they were price matching a competitor at the time, so I think I got a good price. The RRP seems to be 20 looking at the usual rival outlets, including LEGO themselves. Is that good value, at either price?
Absolutely. I said to my wife before I started that I’d expect it to take about 30 minutes. As you’ll be able to see from my attached video, it was actually 45 minutes. I’m quite a quick builder and I don’t much around. I just get my head down and build the thing so I can enjoy the finished model. So I was surprised that the two bags of bricks took me as long as it did. I thought back to other Lego models I’ve made and believe this to be one of the best value /per brick sets I’ve had.
And, because of that, and because the finished model looks so good (not withstanding the multi-colour roof), my score was creeping up.
But the icing on the cake is the mini figure. Bond. James Bond. He just nudged it up to a five star purchase.
