Nice roomy box which can accommodate a multi socket and several cables and plugs, thus great for outdoor Christmas lighting. This is the second one we have purchased as we ruined the first one by screwing it to a tree which then deformed the box so that it was no longer weatherproof. This time we just laid it on the ground over the Christmas period, then put it away until next year.

I bought this to make a outdoor power supply box for my Christmas lights and it’s a very good quality unit as per photos, it’s had around 5 weeks of heavy rain on and off and remains completely dry inside with no issues, I would recommend that you rub a little petrolatum jelly around the door seal as this will prolong the life of the rubber and stop it going hard and brittle, I sure would be confident that it will last for many years to come, all in all a great product for many outdoor electronic or electrical uses

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Quality outdoor uni

Ideal for any outside electrical joints or plugs.

I used it for Christmas lights outside the house, but could be used for anything. Well made from hard plastic, and easy to open / seal, with plenty of room inside for an extension cable for example. Will be purchasing another before next Christmas.

This item is roomy enough to properly accommodate a 4 way extension strip and adaptor plugs and even a timer, unlike some other enclosures that do not have the requisite space to do this. The weatherproofing is simple and effective and has been outside powering Xmas lights all festive season without problem. All in all this item does what it says on the box and is just very useful.

Purchased this to run even more 🙂 outside christmas lights. Even though the box was located in the open and it experienced gale force winds and very very heavly driven rain, it remained perfectly dry inside.

The sealing clamp/guilotine works perfectly, just do not rush. Take your time and it will form a VERY effective seal.

Although I used the box laying flat, it comes with two slots on the rear so you have the option of mounting it onto a vertical surface if you so wish. The plastic is a decent thickness and muted dark grey in colour. This meant that it was sturdy while at the same time it wasn’t standing out like some of the more colourful equivalents.

In conclusion, this is a very well made product that exceeded my expectations. Will certainly buy more for next years expanding light show.

I usually wait a while before reviewing a product. I bought 2 of these Master plug boxes at different times. After 3 years of Christmas outdoor decorations these boxes now fill to the top with water they have deformed and will not seal properly, very poor quality and downright dangerous. One you can put down to poor manufacturing but 2 is a poor design from the Start. I have 3 other boxes where the lid clips both sides and the lid covers the 4 sides with a lip that covers the main part of the box I have had not one single drop of water in those!
If you buy these you have been warned.

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY DANGEROUS! Not fit for purpose!

Solid construction. Easy to use the wire clamps and a lot of room inside for a 4-way gang, RCD, timer, etc. Great value for money at half the price of very similar (identical?) ones from DIY chains,.

Sturdy construction and certainly looks weatherproof/water resistant (time will tell on that score).

Quite impressed with the build quality and especially the satisfying ‘clunk’ as you secure the hatch. Weather-wise I can’t really comment, but the box certainly looks as if it’ll stand up to a soaking. The cable clamps work well and there’s plenty of room inside for a whole host of different applications. I’m happy wih my purchase.

For the price it’s very good quality and value, put whether it’s waterproof is another matter! It seems a little prone to leaks around the edges, but so far so good, certainly at the price it’s worth considering!

This was sourced in Spain, movement traceable and arrived here on the appointed day. Easy to fit up with existing multi plug unit. It’s waterproof! Had deluge last night and all totally dry inside. Overall, well chuffed with unit and service. Recommended on all fronts.

Perfect for the transformer and wifi receiver for outdoor led lights. The wifi receiver works perfectly inside the box which is a big bonus – means it can be totally controlled by Alexa.

This is the second one of these I’ve got and they do the job well. I have one that’s 4 years old and still shows no signs of water ingress (however it is in a sheltered position). This one is ‘hidden’ behind a few plants so having it in green is handy.

As my outdoor xmas lights have a massive transformer style plug I couldn’t use the outdoor sockets so this came in very handy. I ran a standard 4 gang extension from the outdoor socket to this box and then plugged the lights into there, plenty of room for the transformer.
Easy to mount and withstood a month outside with no evidence of water ingress so I see no reason why it wouldn’t last longe

A decent sized box to hold a variety of domestic switchgear for use outside. It forms a very watertight seal around the lid and is especially configured to seal in/out going wiring. Recommended for external garden lighting and extending outdoor power availability. Recommended.

I was disappointed with the lack of strength to the base and ideally it needs more clips to make it waterproof. Too easy to get gaps that make the seal pointless. But its still decent value. If you’re careful it can be OK.

Very well thought out versatile design. Good size, strong, good proportions. Fixing holes for the box are outside of the waterproof area and 4 raised holes are provided inside to mount a back board if required (not included and not required if you only want to use an extension multi-socket). I chose to mount a wooden back board so that I could fix 2 permanent socket outlets, one for the pond pump, the other for pond lights, separately switched and fed via the supply cable. Useful positions on bottom of 2 glands for armoured cable entry and flex outlet positions with rubbery seals along the bottom are very watertight. The lid/door catch design is good and strong and door seal good. Nice colour to blend in with grass. I used mine for electrical supply to my ornamental pond as seen in photos. Very pleased with result – highly recommended.

Versatile. Good value. Easy to install I guess. I added a couple of danger stickers because I have used it in my loft space for concealing mains voltage terminal distribution blocks, and sealed it shut with a cable tie. Do I have any criticisms? When you fit a plywood backplane inside the box it ever so slightly distorts the shell, so you have to be careful in closing the lid. The four pre-moulded screw holes for the backplane will align with the very edges of the largest rectangular plywood backplane you will get into the box, it’s too close for comfort. Another? It comes with no template for rawl-plugging it to the wall. A third? The oval indent in the centre of the hinged cover – it looks like a badge is missing and the uneven surface deforms any sticker you might need to place there. f you can put up with these little annoyances then you have a great purchase for a tenner.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis product appears fit for purpose and reasonably robust.
The reason for the overall 4 star rating (rather than 5 star) is two fold:
Firstly the internal width is something of a challenge if your want to put a 4 plug extension socket in it (i.e. as designed for) as it is not wide enough to accommodate the majority of good quality 13 amp extensions I researched. In the end I purchased a suitable extension but it was relatively a struggle to find one as most that fit are limited to a 10 amp rather than a 13 amp rating.
My second observation is that the gaps in the retaining plastic strip inside the unit that the various cables pass through (i.e. immediately inside the box) are very tight for 13 amp cable so much so they actually start to make dents / potentially cut into the outer casing. I consider this at best undesirable and to remove this issue have actually removed the plastic strip that makes up this aspect. As the entry point for cables is on the bottom edge of the box I cannot see there is any impact on weatherproofing and feel it is a safer arrangement than potentially cutting into cables – my opinion obviously and everyone needs to take their own view. Having noted these points I am generally happy with the unit and would buy it again if I needed another one.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersExcellent dry box just in time to get the outdoor Christmas lights on. I’ve looked at several options for outdoor power extension. This box, though not cheap, offers most flexibility for both summer and winter.
The sturdy, about 35 cm long, 22 cm wide 12 cm high box can hold a 4-way extension socket. And, importantly, it allows some space to place the Christmas light adaptor plugs on top of that. The box has a rubber seal on the lid that can be tightly secured with a clip. Crucially, the lid has no upstanding rim and has a slight slope so that no water will collect on top, which would be dangerous when opening the box – quite a few other boxes had this. One side has the 5 openings for in- and outgoing cables. These holes have triple rubber seals and a separate internal clip mechanism to secure all cable tightly – I was a bit worried about the possibility of water coming through but there is little chance given this solution. We just had a couple of days of heavy rain after I installed the box, a few checks proved that it works perfectly.

I’ve also bought a 15 m black extension cable that run along the border of our subterranean patio to the power socket. We not only plan to use the box for wintery Christmas decorations, it should be of use as well when we want light and power around our garden set (for music- and cooking devices i.e. the air fryer and the electrical cheese fondue).
I’m not sure whether the box should be left outdoor with cables in it permanently, but it should work well for a couple of weeks. And we’ll see how the box lasts after being exposed to rain and sunlight for a sustained period – The plastic and rubber could deteriorate over time. But very pleased so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proper design, easy to use
