My 6 inch globe is a work of art which seems like a magic trick. How does this beautiful replica of the earth sit in it’s stand and slowly rotate with no connection to a power source? A friend sent me a video which shows that there is an internal mechanism that uses photocells to power an undefined device which somehow interacts with the real earth’s magnetic field to rotate the inner shell containing the images of the earth’s surface. The quality of the construction of the globe is outstanding. It is impossible to distinguish the inner rotating shell from the transparent outer shell.
This is the coolest globe I’ve ever had, by far. I like it so much, I can’t wait to get the biggest one available. Do you need to get a gift for someone with everything ? Ah-hemproblem solved !
These things are great, very expensive, but great.
I bought it for my wife’s birthday because we saw it on a recent trip to the Kennedy Space Center. I figured I would buy it on Amazon and save some money, but that is not going to happen! It was the exact same price in both places, it seems that what they want for one.
It is well worth the price, a beautiful piece
Bought as a gift for hubs, and he loves it. The acrylic stand is okay, but my husband being my husband, built a new stand for it out of some birdseye wood scraps. It looks great spinning slowly on our mantle. It arrived in perfect condition, no issues. Really fun art.
My only beef is they seem to soft peddle the lighting requirements to make it work making it seem any ambient light will do the trick. This is very misleading.
In the average person’s living room at night with normal lamp lighting this will not work period. I have it in a room with 3 lamps on and it does not work. If I turn on a fourth lamp it begins to turn very slowly.
What this is made for is probably typical office type lighting which is very bright or a room with sunlight and plenty of it.
I just set and watch this globe move and I’m amazed at the look. Wanted one but was very expensive but just decided to take the plunge and buy it. No regrets on that decision.
got this a while ago now and it sits in our kitchen which is sunny most of the day..still spinning after months and months. no air bubbles at this stage and water inside is clear , no discolorationetc.. so all good
It’s a wonderful object of art and science. It uses the Earth’s magnetic field to turn its Earth with the help of solar power (or any good light). One sees it as if the Earth from Space. Mesmerizing, not mention educational. ##
Based upon the smaller version. It is a very cool product. With artificial light, it turns as intended. I do see a faint white line at the middle where the two pieces of the clear shell/sphere are put together. That doesn’t hinder viewing or use. I aligned it with the equator. Based upon other reviews, I’ll keep it out of direct sunlight to help protect the liquid. It fits in with the other science stuff like the galileo thermometers and plasma spheres!
I received a Mova Globe as a gift and I loved it so much, I purchased one and gave as a gift to my daughter in law. We have the Earth globe and we love it. It is attractive and fits just about anywhere in the house. It needs some access to light in order for the globe to turn, but it works perfectly. I can highly recommend this for anyone who wants to give something a little unique to family, friend, customer or co-worker. You won’t be disappointed.
A beautiful piece. Seller gave me a good deal as well with fast shipping. Only downside (and i’m being very picky here) is you can see the seams, but only at a very close distance. I’m still glad i found it. Now i have to get the others.
