Great charge
I was ready to take my 6v batteries to recycling place from my Honda C90zz motorcycle, bought this charger now all batteries took a charge, so very happy other old charger I had was telling me batteries were done
Light and easy to use
This is the ideal charger for a car that doesn’t get used much and makes only short journeys. Once it’s set up it is just a matter of plug in, connect and switch on.
I love these little chargers (I have several) .. good for motorbikes, lawnmowers, cars etc…. But, be warned – make sure they are OFF before connecting up ! .. I’ve blown many a fuse being too lazy to reach for the socket!
I very much like that it’s designed for set up and forget usage. No need to keep checking that’s it’s not overheating or overcharging.
Purchased to keep my trike battery in tip top condition whilst not in use especially leading into and through winte
Great little gadge
I have an old type car battery charger, but prefer to use this little gadget. I have only used it to charge normal 12v car batteries.
The instructions state charge times upto 30Ah batteries, and normal car batteries are 60Ah, so takes twice as long to charge. However, it will depend just how low your battery charge is.
Unlike my other charger, I don’t have to worry about this one wasting electric, as it turns off afer the battery has charges, and will not damage the cells. It also has an indication if the battery is faulty and cannot be charged.
Wished I had gotten this way before now.
Ideal for charging my small 12v motorbike batteries and my 6v battery
Arrived very quickly and should be ideal for charging my motorbike 12v batteries and my 6v battery for my trailcam
The instructions regarding battery type and maintenance charging could be a little cleare
Just exactly as described
Purchased to charge new lithium NOCO NLP14 battery, which is does very well, in about 90 minutes. Arrives in layers of packaging, but once opened and pictorial instruction manual looked through, no problems.
Rejuvinated a dead battery
My battery was dead after a few weeks of the car sitting unused in the driveway during winter. At first I just connected it to the battery and left it for 36 hours. When I tried to start the car – nothing had changed. So I disconnected the battery and and tried again. After 36 hours the battery was fully charged and the car started. I thought it was supposed to trickle charge the battery without disconnecting it maybe I misunderstood or maybe the battery was too far gone. Anyway I have not had to use it since so I’ll try the trickle charge this coming winter.
Very high quality!
This battery charger works incredibly well! So far have used it to charge up three different batteries and it’s works amazingly. Easy to use with plenty of instructions, it’s very high quality feels like it’s got good quality materials even the packaging it came in shows it wa good quality. Five stars from me! Highly recommended
Professional, efficient and cool operating managed charging that does most batteries including SLA
Perfect compact wall plugable charger that doesn’t ‘cook’ your batteries. Very well programmed electronic charger that is straight forward to use. Plug in and let it do its job, the Led will indicate what it’s doing , if the battery is good and its charging process. Solidly built with quality leads and clips. A large range of other leads are available and they simply plug in using the inline connector. Glad I bought this one after having an expensive 24 amp 12v SLA battery damaged by one that was not as intelligent as the sales pitch claimed. Good for all lead acid types and most other hobby batteries but do check the specifications first for the types you want to use with it.
Battery keepe
Maintains batteries on trickle charge when they are not in use. Used it to revive one battery of a 24 volt truck system. Two other chargers would not charge the really dead battery of the 2. This charged and revived it, it took 3 days but now works perfectly.
Wish I had purchased a high current (and output power) NOCO Genius
The NOCO Genius 1 is a very well made smart battery charger. I purchased it to slowly charge my caravan battery, in an attempt to recover it to full charge ( and voltage ). The voltage had dropped to 12.1V. It successfully did this very gradually over four to five days. So, it did the job perfectly, but over a longer period of time compared to one with a higher output power. In hindsight this would be better. However, it achieved success and I was very impressed with the functionality of the device. So great value!
Great Little Trickle Charge
Purchase price 35.90 on 11th June 2023.
I saw this recommended on the Go Green Autos YouTube channel in a video entitled “What to do if your Peugeot Partner or Citroen Berlingo EV 22kWh is dead and not starting?”.
We have a car that has been unused for a year or so, and the 12v battery was very flat. It took around 4 days for this low current charger to finish charging the battery. The advantage is that it’s only 1 amp, so it’s very safe to leave connected for long periods of time.
So I went to take my bike out after a couple weeks and nothing… It was completely dead. Was about to purchase a new battery when my wife (I Know ) said “why don’t you buy a trickle charger”.. Obviously I knew what that was and said immediately, “oh no that just won’t work, because of the voltage and the romulan star drive connecting with the P rods, you can’t just use a trickle charger, bless yah, thanks though darlin”…
Next stop Amazon, where I found this bad boy, absolutely perfect, toom 6hours but my battery is fully charged, bike runs beautifully and I’ll never have to worry every again. Thank you Amazon… And my wife …
IT’S ALIVE!!!!!!!
I was some what sceptical about this however I looked at review on YouTube and a lot were saying how this was the one thing required when owning a motorbike.
My bike has not been used for a while as I have long covid and getting on my bike can be very challenging some days, weeks etc and others not so.
Well today I charged my gel battery and this little bugger is so smart it could probably tell me what voltage my brain is running at (don’t touch it when plugged in obviously lol), it Frankenstein’d my battery right up to working now I just need to figure out why the lights ain’t coming on lol.
Bought this to charge Campervan 95 Ah battery, should really have got the 5A version as this 1A works but you can’t tell if the battery is fully charged from the indicators on the device. It’s also slow to charge flat battery – not the fault of the unit, more of a lack of information about why different models exist.
Bought this item due to its popularity, good reviews, and its cost. Was a bit of a stab in the dark. But, I really am impressed with its ease of use and performance. With regards to the charging lights, there’s only 4 different light sequences which keep it nice and easy to understand. Keeps my battery charged full throughout the winter evenings. Plus, you can keep it connected the whole time and just leave it, as it keeps the battery at 100% without overcharging it.
A nice, compact bit of kit. Was quite surprised with how small it is, but it packs quite a good punch. Another cool thing I like, is that you can remove the clamps from the wires, and then just directly screw the metal rings onto the battery and leave it on. So when you want to charge, just plug it into the plastic socket at the other end of the wire. Makes it so much simpler to use.
Overall, really happy. Been recommending to all my biker friends.
NOTE: THIS IS A TRICKLE CHARGER THAT GIVES A 1A OUTPUT SO THE BIGGER YOUR BATTERY, THE LONGER IT WILL TAKE TO CHARGE. IT DOES CHARGE BATTERIES OVER 30AH BUT IT WILL TAKE LONGER TO DO SO.
I bought this product because my existing Trickle Charger couldn’t recognise a battery that had less than 3% charge and, apparently my battery had fully discharged due to not being used a number of weeks during winter months.
I decided to buy a product that promised to charge a dead battery so that if there was no remaining charge at all, I could get it going. My current charger can get my battery up to 100% in around 28 hours due to being Trickle fed rather han high voltage, so was happy to have similar.
I expected this one to operate similarly but with the added benefit of recognising a battery with less than 3% charge.
The packaging is great. Amazon delivered it without any outer box to hide the product, but it has a sturdy box so wasn’t too bothered by having extra packaging.
The product itself seems very well made, not at all flimsy and was easy to understand what to do.
I so far have it going and thought perhaps it would need to be put on force charge as I believed it to be fully dead, but for some reason, it wasn’t working for me, no matter how many times I tried to use that setting by pressing the button for the required 5 seconds.
But it appears to be working just on 12v setting, so must have had at least 1% left. Initially I wasn’t certain it was on standby mode, as it looked like an orange light from certain angles, but looks red from another. But it is charging, so don’t despair if you see a pulsing light and not much else for some time, it is charging.
It has a reddish light that’s slowly pulsing off and on. If on standby it would just be a solid orange, no charge. I left it for a few days (note: my battery was almost completely discharged so a top up will take far less time) and it’s now pulsing green, so it’s almost done.
I’d have liked to have some kind of indicator of a percentage or amount of charge its up to, just so it’s clear its doing something, but it does what it’s meant to.
I hadn’t realised when buying it that it was made for up to 30AH batteries, which excludes most car batteries, yet the description said nothing about this. Reading up on it though, it *can* charge batteries over 30AH, it’s just going to take a longer time.
So I would say that, if you’re wanting to charge a car battery fast, that you get jump leads and ask a neighbour to jump start your car. Or, buy a bigger charger, from 2A upwards, that gives a greater output charge, thus reducing the time it will take.
For me, I’m in no rush so I shall just continue using a Trickle Charger and I’m more than happy with this product.
I was debating which model to get as this basic model was in sale for 21. So my less than one year old Bosch 96 amp hour lead acid car battery was dead. It was so dead that even my 30w solar panel charger couldn’t charge it or bring any life back into it. The bosch car battery was only a year old and I think my minivan alternator killed it so I need a new alternator. Day one I hooked this charger up in my kitchen and I took the car battery out. I only turned it on to charge when I was physically in the flat. So everytime I left I would turn off wall socket but keep the alligator clips on the battery at all times. The light in the top slowly pulses red meaning it’s charging. Day 2 it was still pulsing red. By the night of the second day I was a bit worried as I was not sure if this small charger would charge a 96amp hour battery. By day three it was pulsing green on the display which means it’s over 75% and it is doing the final preparations etc. the night of day three still pulsing green. Morning of day 4 it’s a solid green. So a good solid 3 days to charge a battery that must have been completely dead. As it wouldn’t even turn on the dash lights of the minivan. So yes you can charge a large diesel car battery with just this cheap model and you don’t need to spend the extra money for a larger version. Hope this help!
I read a lot of the reviews, but as I have the Noco GB40 Jump Start pack I thought I’d give it a go and am pleased I did. My daughters car had been standing for 10 months and when it came to get it going again the battery was obviously completely flat, so I used the Jump Start pack and it worked fine, but when I turned off the engine and tried to restart it, there was nothing, which confirmed it. I purchased the Genius1 hoping it would work, it actually took 3 days to get the battery to 75%, but it did it. I would prefer it if there were more colour steps for the charging lights, so instead of flashing red (below 75%), flashing Green (above 75%) and solid Green (fully charged) flashing red could go up to 25%, flashing orange up to 50%, flashing blue up to 75%, flashing Green up to 100% and solid Green when it’s fully charged, as I can understand a lot of the comments saying it didn’t work because it stays on flashing red for ages and I did wonder if it was doing anything at all. It was only that I placed the battery back in the car after two days and it started first time, so I knew it was doing something, I therefore placed it back on charge and the day after it went to flashing Green. In conclusion, it definitely works, but be prepared to leave it to get on with it, however I think if there were more colour changing steps indication the percentage of charge, it would put peoples minds at ease that it’s actually doing something.
Really good little charger. As others have noted this is not a charger to quickly get some juice into you battery in a hurry. If you need that then look at the other NOCO’s that can push some bigger amps.
However, if like me, you just need a charger that can trickle charge your batteries back up to 100% over a day or so then look no further. Super easy to use, really nice packaging (not that this is very important but it really is a nicely designed box 🙂 , it is also a nice compact device so takes up almost no storage space when not in use.
I bought this charger as we’re all on lock-down in the UK at the moment and our cars haven’t moved or started for +- 4 weeks. I’ve just finished charging both our car batteries; one is a 30Ah and the other a 45Ah.
So, even though NOCO say ‘up to 30Ah’ it will still work for bigger batteries. The 45Ah one was pretty flat – when I connected it up the charger LED pulsed red for a good 6/7 hours which suggests it was quite a long way below 75%. However, within 17 hours the LED had turned solid green which means it is now at 100%
The 30Ah battery took about 7 hours to turn green (but this wasn’t as flat as the 45Ah)
Anyway, highly recommend this charger.
REVISING MY REVIEW : 3 years down the line, it’s packed up, whereas my original Optimate from 15 years ago is still going strong. I guess it’s a case of the old adage – buy cheap, buy twice 🙁
For fairness, here was my original review :
Cracking value for money when you think of the range of battery types this can maintain. Bought to trickle-charge a motorbike on a LiFePo4 but also to double up and maintain another vehicle on a sealed acid. Obviously at 1A rating this is really just a trickle charge, so if you’re after something to charge a battery from low to full in a short as space as possible, pick one of the higher rated versions, but for me needs this was perfect and so much cheaper than the equivalent Optimate.
Some useful facts that were not obvious until it arrived, that might help some people not waste money on additional accessories :
– It comes with 2 metres of cable so your battery needs to be within 2-and-a-bit metres of a wall socket
– On the end of that cable is a Noco-proprietary connector
– The unit then comes with some crocodile clips that plug in to this connector (on a short additional section of wire) to clip directly on a battery
– If you want to hard-wire the unit into a motorcycle, the crocodile clips include eyelet terminals so you can unscrew the crocodile clips, and you’re left with simple ring terminals to screw onto a battery semi-permanently. So if you’re looking to buy this for a bike, there’s no need to buy any additional cable/adapter if you’re happy with this arrangement.
– Selection of battery type is manual by a simple button-press, that cycles around the 3 options (convential 12v lead, 12v AGM, 12v Lithium). 6v and force-charge options are initiated with long button-presses.
