Excellent unit, everything arrived safely and securely. The after sales service is also above and beyond praise. Initially on my car Jaguar XE 2019 – the steering wheel control buttons were not supported, I then contacted ottocast and they sent me detailed instructions on how to flash the device and everything worked perfectly, thank you very much, reco

This product is a great idea but not so straight forward to install.
After many attempts to link it to the android system, it finally worked, however, when moving, it keeps buffering.
I personally prefer a cheap tablet that can be strapped to the front headrests so passengers in the rear seat can enjoy videos on the go.
This one takes the whole screen away, so the driver won’t have any info whilst driving and can be easily distracted.
It might be good when stationary if you have a very strong battery, but I don’t see a future use for it in my car.

I think the price is absolutely ridiculous for what it does, it is a cool gadget and it’s a god send for people like myself who have young children, something to help keep them entertained on long journeys. It is quick and easy to set up, no connection issues at all so far. It’s lightweight, compact and gives the option of music, YouTube and Netflix via WiFi and Bluetooth but I just don’t really understand the price point.. 160 seems heavily overpriced for an item like this. Surely there must be gadgets that do the same but for a fraction of the price?

I recently had the pleasure of testing out the adapter, and I must say it completely transformed my driving experience. This 3-in-1 screen mirroring wireless dongle adapter is a game-changer for in-car entertainment, offering seamless integration with Apple CarPlay and a plethora of features that kept me entertained throughout my journeys.

First and foremost, the ease of installation was impressive. The adapter effortlessly connected to my car’s infotainment system, and within minutes, I was up and running. The compact size of the adapter ensures it doesn’t clutter the dashboard or distract from the overall aesthetics of the car’s interior.

One of the standout features of the adapter is its compatibility with both Android and Apple devices.. The adapter seamlessly mirrored my Phone’s screen onto the car’s display, allowing me to access all my favourite apps, make calls, send messages, and enjoy music without taking my eyes off the road.

The ability to stream Netflix and YouTube directly on the car’s display was a dream come true for my passengers and me. Long road trips were no longer tedious, as we could enjoy our favourite movies and TV shows on the go. The streaming quality was impressive, and the adapter maintained a stable connection throughout our journeys, without any buffering or lag.

Furthermore, the screen mirroring feature proved to be incredibly useful. Whether I wanted to show navigation instructions from Google Maps or share photos with my co-passengers, the adapter flawlessly mirrored my Android device’s screen, providing a hassle-free experience.

Another aspect that impressed me was the build quality of the adapter. It feels sturdy and well-made, ensuring durability even during bumpy rides or extreme weather conditions. The adapter’s wireless functionality is reliable, eliminating the need for messy cables and making it easy to switch between different devices on the fly.

Overall, the Wireless Adapter exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, compatibility, and ease of use. It revolutionized my car’s entertainment system, providing a seamless and immersive experience that made every journey enjoyable. If you’re looking to upgrade your car’s entertainment capabilities, this adapter is a worthy investment that will undoubtedly enhance your driving experience.

This Play2Video wireless adapter comes in a retail box and inside you’ll find the adapter, USB-C to USB-C cable, USB-A to USB-C cable, and a user manual. Many cars only support Android Auto via a USB connection to your car. New cars now come with wireless connectivity so you can use Android Auto without you having to plug in your phone. This wireless adapter is used to allow you to connect wirelessly if your car only supports a wired connection to use Android Auto.

The wireless adapter is lightweight, made from plastic, and has a convincing carbon fibre effect on the top surface. The carbon fibre shines in the light and looks quite impressive. It has a USB-A port and USB-C port on opposite sides of the device with the USB-C port being used for power and the USB-A for a USB passthrough.

Setup was reasonably straight forward, and I only had one issue during setup. I have an Android device and when you first connect wirelessly, you have to select what you are connecting to which is either Apple car play or Android auto. I obviously chose Android auto as that is what I have but it just wasn’t picking it up and I couldn’t connect to Android Auto. What I had to do was tell it I wanted to use Apple car play, even though I don’t have it, it then connects and sets it up for Android Auto which was a little confusing, but it worked.

The main display of the adapter is easy to use and navigate and does allow you to watch Netflix and YouTube and to play your music. If you plug in a USB stick, you can access your music directly from this so works quite for a car media player. Tapping Android Auto though brings it up and you have a lot more options which is better suited for a car. You can use Google Maps as a sat nav and play the music which is on your USB stick. Amazon Music is also accessible, but you have to create playlists to get a better experience as it will only display your past played music or songs it recommends for you, you can’t play or request any albums unless you select them through the phone app of Amazon Music first.

The wireless connectivity side works as it should. I turn on the car, my system boots up, and my phone automatically connects to this wireless adapter which then starts up Android Auto without me having to touch anything. It works perfectly for this and can breathe new life into your standard audio interface.

Highly recommended if you want to connect to your car wirelessly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Connects wirelessly without me having to do anything...

I thought it would take ages to set this up but it took around 20 minutes and we were ready to use it. I was surprised about how small it actually was as it is so easy to move round and store too, so it doesn’t take up much space.

It works well and does the job, and can be used for so many different things as well. Its not an essential item but nice to have if you can afford it as it quite expensive at around 185.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a great piece of tech that allows you to watch Netflix in your car. Once you get in the car it quickly connects to Apple CarPlay. There is very little lag but something I can deal with. The only issue I have is that at times once you watch Netflix and want to go back to CarPlay it does not want to connect and have to unplug or reboot the system.

The other issue I have is the process to go from CarPlay to Watch Netflix is not straight forward. You have to switch Bluetooth off and enable your hotspot

    If you do
Not switch your Bluetooth off it will not connec

Really good tech upgrade for your auto, expands upon existing hardware by offering software.

Pretty neat and used double sided tape to secure it away.

Not bad value considering it brings your system into the modern day!

We use this whenever we take the grandchildren out
I simply use the Netflix and YouTube apps to select something for them to watch (they usually vote)
An this gadget streams it for them to watch on the Apple monitors in the back

Its a very small device and easy to install, although the instructions are pretty useless.
It will connect to either ~Apple or Android CarPlay

I put off trying this item until I had two hours free to set it up in my car. In the end I shouldn’t have worried it was up and running in 15 minutes!

I was pleased with the results and can now run Google directions which are much better than the SatNav which comes with the car.

It is really tiny and can be hidden in the boot area (or lots of places).

My current system plays DVDs only when the car is stationary, this can play video on the go . but I certainly won’t be doing that and I advise others to follow my lead.

Review based on using my Ford Focus 2019 and Apple iPhone 14pro.

The wireless adapter arrived in a small branded box, inside the adapter is located in a foam insert for protection along with 1 x USB-A to USB-C cable, 1 x USB-C to USB-C cable and instructions, as I removed the adapter from the foam insert to check it over I could tell that the adapter was well made and it felt robust.

I have a Ford Focus ST Line-X (2019) and I constantly connect my phone to the front USB input under the centre console to initiate Apple CarPlay, I always felt that this was a bit of a pain, taking my phone out to then connect it, this adapter has now fixed this.. to a degree anyway.

The adapter took about 5 minutes to setup, I actually connected it using the USB input that is located inside the centre console and I then sit the adapter on the top of the tray inside, once it started up the screen changed in the car to a “Play2Video” message and then I had to connect to it using my phones Bluetooth (it never actually asked for a code to join which I found bizarre), once connected I checked over the settings and had to turn on my phones hotspot so that the adapter could connect to a Wi-Fi network for Netflix and YouTube, I was pleasantly surprised to see Netflix and YouTube work well enough on the cars display, I had to alter the settings on YouTube for better screen quality. (You have to sign in using your account details for Netflix to work)

From the main menu you can switch to Apple CarPlay and it remembers what you were doing last when it reconnects, like a podcast or a radio station, I find that the colours and details are not as crisp as directly connecting to the car using a cable but it does look very close to it.

The adapter can accept a USB memory stick that has video, audio and picture files on there and it can be accessed using the adapters main menu, this way you don’t have to rely on using your phones internet connection, also the screen quality is much better this way as it is direct and doesn’t have to stream, this is a very handy feature for watching movies, or listening to music if you don’t have any subscription services.

Call quality is not as good as using the car’s Bluetooth or a direct cable for Apple CarPlay, there is also slight lag when using Siri to read your text messages and replying using voice commands.

Overall, I can see the appeal with this adapter, it has taken away the hassle of having to connect my phone every time I want to use Apple CarPlay, for me this is the only bonus I can see that I will get out from it as I wont be using Netflix, YouTube or watching media from the memory stick function especially when I am driving, maybe this can be used whilst parked up to eat some food or whatever but I cant see me using the video function often, maybe I would have when I was younger with my mates when we used to park up for hours chilling in our cars but those days have gone .
Lots of good functions and some frustrating ones too, connection doesn’t always work, I have to pull the cable and reconnect it, sometimes takes a few mins to connect and for Apple CarPlay to boot up, audio not good when making calls, pricey for what it is in my opinion as Netflix and YouTube can be watched on most tablets and phones now, nice to have all the listed options but only you can decide if this is what you’re looking for, I would also say that this can be very dangerous if trying to use whilst driving, please drive responsible and only use this whilst stationary, thank you.

If you’re like me and can’t be bothered to do the simplest easiest tasks to make things work you probably also don’t use apple car play if it’s wired! It might seem simple to plug a cable in to get it going but when you’re in and out of the car you just don’t. I like to have my phone where I can see it on a MagSafe holder/charger anyways. But now after plugging this in my phone is instantly into apple car play with no fuss. It’s as simple as getting in the car. Get connected wirelessly and effortlessly making apple car play a dream. The little box is hideable and to be honest since fitting it I’ve forgotten it’s even there which I think speaks volumes about how good it works. Don’t hesitate

This is great and now I can have my android screen mirrored wirelessly to my car’s infotainment, I’ve not tested everything but netflix and youtube are working brilliantly and there is very little lag at all, at least none I can notice, install was simple and all in all it is seamless, it’s pricey but that is not a deal breaker for me and this makes android auto so much better.

First and foremost, this device will not create a wireless system in your car unless the vehicle already has a wired Android/ Apple ecosystem.

Assuming that is you, then this is great. It is easy to set up, unobtrusive (it’s tiny) and works like a dream.

Set up takes a few minutes and it really does make things a lot more convenient – it’s the difference between dial up internet and WiFi, but in a car.

Obviously you don’t need a wide range with this (no brick walls to contend with!), but it works very well inside the car, and if there are any camper vans which have wired connections, then this would be a fantastic addition to the set up.

I suppose it’s a bit expensive at 189.99, and it certainly isn’t an essential device, but if you’re in the market for an upgrade and the mummery isn’t an issue, this will fit the bill.

The solution I have been waiting for.
This is a perfect no fuss device for wireless streaming,
Arrives in a presentation box and is complimented by a supplied decent quality shirt USB-C to C and a second to A.
Simple to pair and connect to an apple device that I have.
Firmware can be updated as required.

First of all, the device does exactly what it promises to do, adding functionality to your system and was easy – even for me -to set up. I liked the ability to watch a video in the car, but having this option when driving is probably unsafe and may be illegal. I stress the device is not a legal problem, but if you were to drive with videos playing on your dash, it would be seen as dangerous driving and likely to be distracting. I don’t have children of an age to benefit, and my car doesn’t have back-of-seat screens, so I can’t tell if you can only direct anything playing to the screen behind you. It is a good and effective device and I liked watching some YouTube on the screen whilst sitting in the car when my wife is shopping – but I am wary of the risks – use it sensibly.

I have a Hyundai i40 and having access to Android Auto was one of the features I was most looking forward to having when we bought the car. However, I very rarely use it as I found it inconvenient having to take my phone out of my pocket and then connect it to the car using a USB cable every time I wanted to go somewhere.
This little adapter from Ottocast is a way to turn a wired Android Auto or Apple Carplay connection into a wireless one.

The adapter is nice and compact and has quite a solid feel to its plastic casing and the top is finished with a nice carbon fibre pattern.
On the left hand edge is a USB-C port for connection to your cars USB port and on the right hand side is a regular USB-A socket that you can use to attach a memory stick that you can use to store music and video files on. You also have a small LED indicator light to show you the status of the unit.
The front and rear edges have a series of air vents to help keep the adapter cool.

    ***** In The Box *****

    1 x Wireless Adaprer
    1 x USB-C to USB-C Cable
    1 x USB-A to USB-C Cable
    1 x User Guide

    ***** Installation / Usage *****
Using this little adapter is really quite straightforward.
You first need to connect the adapter to the USB port on your car that is used for Android Auto/Apple Carplay.
When the ignition is turned on, the adapter will power on automatically and after just a few seconds you can then use your smartphone to connect to it. You first need to open the Bluetooth settings on your phone, select the adapter from the available devices list and then pair your phone with it using the default code of 0000.
Once paired, you can then use the screen in your car to select Android Auto/Car Play and it will be mirrored from your phone onto the display of your car, where you can then use the various apps available, make and receive calls, see and hear incoming messages, etc.
Now when you get in your car and start it, it will automatically start and connect to Android Auto without the need to physically connect your phone using a cable.

    ***** Conclusion *****

I have been using this little adapter from Ottocast for a few days now and so far, I’ve been quite pleased with it. I have successfully used it with my Realme 9 Pro+ smartphone running Android 13 and my 2017 Hyundai i40.
The device itself seems well made and I like its compact size as it fits neatly inside the little storage compartment of my car.

The 2 included cables are a nice size for my use as they are only short so keep things nice and neat, but depending on your car and where you place the adapter, they may not be long enough.

I like that the adapter boots up really fast and of course not having to connect the phone with a cable is an extremely convenient option. I also like that the steering wheel and console navigation buttons all work fine.
The adapter has a feature to allow you to watch videos from YouTube and Netflix, although I haven’t tried these as I have no use for them.

I have to be honest and say that the current asking price of 189.99 is very expensive for the added convenience of not having to use a cable, although there is a 40 voucher that brings it down to a slightly more reasonable 149.99, but I’m still not sure I would want to spend more than around 80 at most.
Having said that, if wireless AA or Carplay is something you desperately want, then this product works very well and would definitely be a good option. It is also worth emphasising that this adapter will not add AA or Carplay to a car that doesn’t already support the wired version.

Made from a great manufacturer which I’ve brought from in the past. This unit arrived very well packaged with everything you need to setup and use, along with clear step by step guide for setup and use. This is universal for so many vehicles and works with both apple and android devices too. Nice compact unit which works effortlessly with no lag or issues. Makes my already amazing car even better as on long trips we can now mirror the likes of steaming apps through to the entertainment system for the kids to watch. With the way the sound is from the speakers too, it makes it just like the cinema! It’s a hefty price tag but great to know it can move through all the car I may buy in the future too! Really happy indeed 🙂

Although most Apple Car Play / Android Auto enabled cars are wireless, not all are (for instance, Nissan Qashqai Android Auto is wired, Car Play though wireless), so this is great for that. It’s good quality, well-made, and nice and small. This can be tucked inside the glovebox where the USB port is, and left connected.

The device is very simple and easy to use, although the instructions are rather ambiguous and confusing, instructing to connect to car’s wi-fi (although not giving detail of what to — nothing comes up!). Then it instructs to connect to Bluetooth, entering pairing code 0000. Again, no, and the image is different to what actually is there to connect to — in this case, ‘Play2Video’, which paired straight away, and without a pairing code. This then takes you straight in to Android Auto. Simple and easy, just made confusing by the instructions!

Once done, all good, straightforward, and works perfectly.

Overall, although very little need for, since most are already wireless, if yours isn’t, this is just the job. Not cheap though.

I hope that you have found this helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little device, pricey though.

Great product! Didn’t take too long to set up at all, it’s so much easier having it wireless than having to plug your phone in every time you get into the car! Small and compact for easy storage in the vehicle too, excellent quality and it works really well I’d definitely recommend!
