I used this immediatey it was delivered and it lives up to everything it claims to be. Easily slips under fried eggs and lifts them perfectly. I’m certain this tool will work as well with pancakes. Cleaning was simple. I thoroughly recommend.

I have never been able to cook a poached egg. I have tried the microwave poachers, but never seem to work. These are great. Can only fit the two into a large pan, but with a bit of effort, you can cook 2 eggs, by lifting silicone out of pan after a minute and putting it back in asap and adding second egg

    Pros:
    – Folds down to half size making them easy to store
    – Easy to use
    – Easy to clean
    – Comes with instructions on how to perfectly poach your eggs!

    Cons:
    – Quite big, you need a large pan to poach even one egg in – you cannot do two at once unless you have an industrial sized vat.

Perfect eggs using these OXO poachers.
For best results the water needs to be very gentle simmer.
Only downside is their size, you need a huge pan to get 2 of these in.
Probably over priced at 15, wait for a deal.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVery simple to use:
    1. bring water to a rolling boil.
    2. add salt so it dissolves in the water
    3. Turn heat down so water is at a steady simmer, with only 1-3 bubbles rising through the centre holes of the poachers.
    4. put 1 Teaspoon of white wine vinegar into each silicone poacher before immediately cracking your egg into the centre hole.
    5. cook for 3-5 mins depending on your preference (approx 3 mins for me gives me the results in my photos.
… Only drawback is you need a big pan and lots of water if you’re going to have 2 of them side by side (approx 19-20cm wide pan base) but I can forgive that for the amazing results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Poached Eggs

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI don’t leave many feedbacks but this item is worth a review, I love perfect poached eggs and I have tried lots of ways, these just work, followed the instructions and eggs were produced perfectly, I did need to alter timings to my liking so it took 3/4 attempts to achieve perfection 🙂 for me using large eggs at room temperature I use one poacher in a pan of water so when I am doing 2 eggs I use 2 pans with the water on a gentle ‘rolling boil, very gentle’ and a small amount of white wine vinegar, eggs in and cook for 3 minutes and 15 seconds then straight out of the water, perfect, easy to hand wash so I don’t bother with the dishwashe

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter years of buying different products to help me make poached eggs, all with limited to no success, this is a game changer. Yes you need a big pan to do more than one at a time, but every single egg I have done in the last few weeks has been great. With every penny.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGreat product. I’ve never mastered the art of poaching eggs but this product works well. As others have said is best for cooking one egg at a time unless a large pan. The poacher has a water level mark so make sure the pan has enough water to go up to the mark. My cooking tips are to make sure the water is barely simmering with little bubbles and not boiling. Add a few drops of white vinegar to the water before you put the egg in. Make sure you don’t knock the poacher whilst dropping the egg in (it goes through the hole and into the bottom of the poacher) if you move the poacher before the white has had time to set it will escape. For a runny yoke and set white whilst cooking one large supermarket egg it needs about 3 mins 45 seconds. Once the time is up lift out the poacher and then use a slotted spoon to remove the egg. Place egg on kitchen paper to remove excess water briefly then serve. Very easy to clean just rinse.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAlthough they work they are a bit of a faff and the end result is similar to creating a small whirlpool and dropping the egg in.
The best so far is still the egg poaching pan although it take a while to clean and you have to be careful not to overcook.
It’s als worth noting that when the egg is ready the the silicone holder will rise which is a handy indicator.

I agree with other reviews. They work quite well but are large. You can only use one at a time unless you use a very large pan and therefore a lot of water. Makes it a bit pointless having two. Still, it’s cheaper than buying a pan specifically for poaching eggs.

Got this for my partner for she tried and disliked various egg poaching tools in the past. This one seem to work better but to be honest, it is troublesome to clean such that unless we had friends staying, I wouldn’t bother having poach eggs for soft boil eggs are far easier to cook then clean up th eutensils after.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve tried all sorts of egg poachers, and this is the best of them, without a doubt. It comes closest to the traditional egg poaching method, and provided you use your brain, it works well. It’s easy to clean and folds down to store in your kitchen drawer, too.

The traditional method to poach an egg is to simmer a pan of water and whisk it round rapidly to create a vortex of water. You drop your egg in the middle and the vortex keeps it together long enough for it to congeal. The silicone cone of this OXO product replaces the vortex and does a similar job of containing the egg in the centre of your pan, under water. With both of these methods the one thing that’s vital to know is that the fresher the egg, the better the result. Fresh eggs are nice and thick, so stay together. Old eggs are very watery and runny and are not suitable for poaching – this is one of the problems behind all the negative reviews saying the user ended up with egg soup. The other is their water being too hot: you want a light simmer, not a rolling boil, which will pull the egg white apart.

    CONCLUSION
Is this, or any other egg poaching device necessary? No – the vortex method is just as simple, and cheaper. But if you can’t be bothered to learn the satisfyingly fun skill of whisking water and poaching eggs the traditional way, it’s a neat product, and the best of the gizmo’s on offer.
