These are perfect. They replaced some cheap junk ones where the silicone grips would just slide off and the metal was so soft that they bent when gripping food. These OXO ones are quite different. They give a strong impression that you could trust your life to them if you had to hang from them over a lava filled pit. Suffice to say they work superbly in more ordinary circumstances too.
Good quality kitchen tongs, they are heavier than others I have used but much stronger and easy to use. They will grip a whole chicken with ease and the silicon heads ensure that they don’t scratch non stick surfaces. Easy to clean in the dishwasher.
Brilliant simple design of silicone tongs that works perfectly for me. It is long enough so I don’t get burnt on the air fryer and the ends comfortably grip both chips and chicken portions. I have arthritis in my hands so need to use a well designed tongs and this one is it! I also like the way you just push the top in or out depending on whether you want to store them locked.
I am considering getting the 9″ one as well as I can use the shorter tongs doing other cooking tasks.
I’ve owned a good few tongs but these feel amazing! Sturdy and strong but not too heavy! It’s worth paying a few pound extra to get something that will last for years! Perfect for use on a George Foreman grill too! Don’t hesitate with these, such high quality – just buy them!!
So these seem to continue with oxo’s great build quality reputation. Does what it’s ment to do and feels like it will continue doing so for a long time.
But they are a lot shorter than regular tongs! I’m not really sure why but it’s a shame as otherwise I would have given it 5 stars
very happy with this purchase, i highly recommend oxo products and this tongs is a must have. Very good locking mechanism and reasonably easy to clean. Like the turner, the end of the tongs can withstand very high temperature. Useful also with spagetti and noodles.
A nice quality, solid set of tongs that (due to the silicone coated hands) can be used on any temperature hot or cold food.
The lock feature is fine, though like every other pair of tongs I’ve used never feels absolutely secure. However, it rarely lets you down.
My pair of tongs have been in and out of the dishwater on hot at least twice a week for at least a year. Very pleased with them and I know OXO Good Grips to be a quality and reliable brand which never disappoints.
This tong by OXO is a must have for every kitchen.
I got this to add it to my OXO collection and I cannot recommend this enough.
The 30cm size is just perfect. Big enough to be effective enough to reach the end of an oven, but yet not big enough for your storage drawer.
The heads are made with silicone which give you great grip on foods like vegetables, meats etc. I have been using them for some time now, and they still look like new. I have even dip them inside a hot boiling oil to stir potatoes.
The grips are made of stainless steel with silicone padding on the sides to give you amazing control over flipping and gripping food.
I have even used them outdoor on my grill without any problems.
As always, very pleased with this OXO product and cannot recommend this enough, a must have for all kitchens.
We wanted the stainless steel ones to replace our old ones but are out of stock so we bought these silicone head ones instead. They are good but not as good as the steel ones. I find the silicon doesn’t have as good a grip when trying to pick up some food, so can be quite fiddly. Quality is good and OXO a trusted brand
Having bought a few Good Grips utensils & done a little research I bought these tongs as we use non stick pans & silicone won’t damage them.
They are sturdier than the last pair (Not OXO) & actually lock properly, they’re a good length & grip things – what else do you want?
No idea on durability, I’d expect it to be pretty good.
Easy to use sturdy and clever locking mechanism, looks like it’ll last, I like all of the OXO branded kitchen tools they all seem well made and worth the extra few ‘s
Excellent utensil – easy to pick up & turn items while cooking and I love the fact that it locks into place for storage.
Having used my old-fashioned basic kitchen tongs for years, I am ditching them in favour of this gadget!
Needed a set of tongs for taking food out of the air fryer. These are typical OXO Good Grips quality and do the job well. Bought the 9 inch which are just right. The 12 inch ones might be better suited to a barbie, and a tad too long for what I wanted them for.
These have a nice weight to them and the stuff around the tongs feels and looks like they will last some time.
Still nice to have more plasticy but longer tongs from Sainsburys – 2 on the go as it where.
This is my second set of these, my first I have had since 2013 for the kitchen, and they are still going strong. This set is for use with my smoker. The locking mechanism is a little stiff but after a few uses it glides smoothly and my older pair and these both work exactly how you would expect them too.
As usual, the expected quality of OXO products is clear to see.
Wish I could give them 6 stars!
Up until now I have always used the scissor type cooking tongs which are unfortunately now on their last legs, so I thought a change of design might be better. These tongs are well made and work very well. I hadn’t fully understood the “locking” part of the title but having now got one I can say that all you need to do is close the tongs and pull up on the hanging ring on the top and the tongs stay closed. A neat trick. Good value for money.
