Before the first use

Unless it is marketed as being lint-free, before its first use wash the roller in cold or tepid water to remove any loose fibres that would otherwise transfer onto the surface when painting: you’ll save yourself time not having to pick out bits from the paint film. Remove excess water, stand the roller on its end and allow it to dry fully (ideally overnight) before using.

The first paint load

Allow the first paint load to soak down to the core by leaving it for 5-10 minutes. This will enable the roller to more quickly reach its paint holding capacity and maximise the amount you apply with each load, improving your painting efficiency.

Load the roller evenly

Load the roller with paint and use the roll-off area on your tray or scuttle to distribute paint evenly across and around the roller. This will give even application on the surface and save you time by not having to work out paint that would otherwise be dumped on.

Cleaning after use

Remove as much paint from the roller as you can so as little as possible is wasted or goes into drainage systems. Inexpensive tools specially designed for this are available, or you can use a paint scraper or similar tool. Wash emulsion paints and water-based gloss, satin and woodstains with warm (not hot) water, with a small amount of detergent if it helps. Wash solvent-based paints with white spirit – do not wash white spirit down sinks; use a container and appropriate gloves and dispose of the solvent carefully. Stand the roller on its end and allow it to dry fully (ideally overnight) before using again.

More information on this product

Painting masonry surfaces can be tricky but this 5 piece 9″ (225mm) professional paint masonry roller kit enables you to get the best result quickly and efficiently. It’s designed to tackle the demands of semi-rough and rough surfaces such as brick, breeze block, cement, medium texture renders and stucco (exterior cement plaster) and is suitable for smooth and textured masonry paints both water- and solvent/oil-based. The two paint rollers have an 18mm (0.75″) long pile that loads up plenty of paint – essential for efficiency when painting masonry so you’re reloading less often – applies it smoothly and evenly, and is effective at getting into surface textures for rapid application without missing areas. They’re made from machine woven fabric, giving the fibres a double anchor with low lint and excellent durability, standing up to heavy duty use and washing out well, enabling them to be reused time after time.

The flat masonry brush has a 4″ wide head for rapid coverage, featuring long bristles that hold plenty of paint so you’re not constantly have to reload it – important especially if you’re working off the ground on a ladder or platform. The head is a blend of pure grey bristle and synthetic filaments that combine optimum paint loading with the durability that’s essential for painting masonry, and the bristle density is carefully tailored for exterior application, enabling it to get right into textured surfaces without splaying at the tip. The set comes with a durable, hardwearing trade cage roller frame that has a push fit handle for extension poles and a rugged tray made from 100% recycled plastic.

For best results the roller should be washed in cold or tepid water before first use to remove any loose fibres. Stand the roller on its end and allow it to dry fully (ideally overnight) before using.

I used these rollers to paint my 1930s bungalow which is covered in really heavy pebble dash… took a while, but the roller was much quicker than using a brush and gave a great coverage for such a rough surface.

I used this brush for cutting in on my artex ceiling. It was far better than other paintbrushes for coverage and paint take-up. So glad I tried a masonry brush.

Absolutely great. I have really thick, jagged rendered walls and this set worked perfectly on them. This is pretty much the first time I’ve ever painted a large area on my own so this would work well for anyone. Feels really good quality and sturdy roller. Highly recommend!

Thought I’d get 2 roller frames in the set so you can use with someone else, my mistake for not reading thoroughly.
Leaves some fibres on 1st use, good after that. (I washed them first)

I used this roller on my bedroom walls as they are very textured and it worked out fantastic. Got two coats done on fairly heigh ceiling walls within just a couple of hours. I previously used interior rollers on these same walls and not only was it such a pain but also took me much longer to finish the job. Very pleased I gave these a try this time. I found that after washing the roller, blow drying it with a hair dryer on a medium heat setting will make it look just good as new again. As for the brush, it was handy to have but it sheds a lot. Overall, very happy with the quality & value. Would definitely recommend.

I used the roller and brush to apply masonry cream to a gable end wall. The roller was attached to an extension pole and worked well Both the roller and brush cleaned easily and are ready to be used again when needed.

Good quality. Easy to use. I used it to paint my balcony for the summer. I was done in no time. Very easy to clean, I helled them under a cold water running tap and paint came out easily, usually I have to through the whole lot a way. It was delivered earlier than expected. Fantastic.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve been amazed at both the quality and longevity of this brush and roller set. I originally only bought this as I just needed the masonry rollers and it worked out just as cheap to buy this set, but both the brush and tray have been a real bonus.
I’ve used this set to paint three 5x4m sections of exterior wooden cladding with two coats of Sadolin exterior wood paint and I’m still using the original first roller in the pack and the same brush, providing you clean them up well after use they perform as good as new. The brush is really good quality, fairly comfortable to use, it doesn’t loose bristles and is flexible enough that you can use it in detailed areas. The rollers are equally good, they have a nice deep pile, hold a decent amount of paint, they apply paint to the area really well with good even coverage and the deep pile covers all the uneven surfaces.
This is my first time buying a ProDec decorating product but if any of their other products are as good quality as this paint set, then I will definitely buy this brand again.

I bought this to paint a new garden wall 15m x 2m. The quality of the brush and rollers is excellent, with the rollers having a nice deep pile to deal with any crevices in the wall.
