Virtually the same 1L Pyrex jug as the one my parents have hac for 30-odd years. There’s a reason Pyrex has become famous & synonymous with high quality glassware. Great, heavy duty piece that sees practically every day use in my kitchen – all at a ridiculously low price & with overnight delivery.

Hopefully this will last my lifetime just as my mum’s lasted for hers; and barring any really forceful accident there’s no reason to think it wont. Amazing piece & unbeatable value for money.

Love Pyrex jugs, this is to replace a small one that cracked when my partner put it on a red-hot electric ring.

Lovely clear markings for all sorts of measurements

i used a little pyrex jug for the last 10 years, which got damaged and over night blew itself up in the cupboard !!
So i checked and realised once they are chipped they are likely to ‘collapse’ as the glass is stressed!
So i bought a nice new bigger one which works great!

Bought as a replacement for a plastic jug that is stained and scratched. This is much better as it does not bend slightly when filled to the top with boiling water. It is easy to clean and does not stain or scratch. would recommend.

Easy to hold, easy to use and easy to clean.

Pyrex glass means no worries when putting hot liquid straight into it, or plunging the just into the washing up bowl immediately to clean it.

Only give 4 stars for accuracy as I have no way of determining how accurate the marings are on the side (who has a school chemistry-style measuring cylinder to hand?)

One concern is the handle. Not being a ‘D’ shape, I wonder how robust this will turn out to be in the long run.

I bought 1of these a few years ago and ended up giving it my daughter when she got her own home ….I’ve had other jugs that I’ve not found as useful so when I came across this I jumped at the chance to buy it ..last a lifetime these would and never taint or get discolored

Bought mainly for mixing gravy but I guess it will come in handy for other uses too.
It’s more of a medium sized wide jug rather than large tall one. Still good for mixing, I think I do prefer the medium wide size.

Time will tell if the markings rub off as they do on most jugs, but it feels durable so far. It’s a slightly surprising squat and wide shape which is perhaps less useful than a taller narrower jug shape, but other than that it is good.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersBefore I get into the quality of the product etc. I would like to mention that this is the shorter / fatter measuring jug and not the tall slim type. This was a little bit of a disappointment for me but then again it was my fault. I am not saying it is a bad thing, far from it. It was the price that caught my eyes. 5 for a top quality “Pyrex” product is a bargain.

Let me tell you why a 5 measuring jug is a bargain… this jug is made of thick glass and is a Pyrex jug. The difference between a Pyrex and cheaper (thinner) products is that Pyrex can take a lot of knocking about. It can be used in ovens and microwaves, without damage Another great thing about Pyrex products is that glassware is actually much safer to use in cooking than plastic products.

Research, over recent years, has shown that every time we use a plastic product, from bottles to cartons, to kitchenware, we consume microbeads of plastic. The plastic microbeads that we consume remain in our bodies and they build up over time. Today’s teenagers are already carrying excessive quantities of plastic microbeads and will be prone to higher risks of cancers etc. So, here we have a great alternative, a glass product that is both environmentally friendly and 100% recycleable in addition to being able to withstand high heat and extreme cold temperatures.

Now for the warning, if you haven’t used Pyrex before. Never, ever put a hot Pyrex product into cold water. Always let a hot Pyrex product cool down before putting it into the sink or into cool water. The reason I am giving this warning is that Pyrex products are great with both heat and cold due to the glass being toughened in the manufacturing process. The glass is under extreme pressure, which is what makes it so great to use. Should a hot Pyrex product be put into cold water, it is prone to explode. If lucky it will just crack and split apart, it won’t shatter like other glass products but will explode and break into numerous pieces.

Now that the warning is out of the way I can get to the measuring jug. The readings are perfectly clear, as one would expect with a Pyrex product, the handle is a little small for my hands but will be adequate for most people. The pouring spout is almost perfect so spills won’t be a common thing. When holding 1litre of liquid, this measuring jug is still quite light.

I do highly recommend this measuring jug because the price is great for the quality and if looked after the jug can last decades, just as Pyrex dishes do. It is the long life span that usually makes a Pyrex product expensive when bought but very cheap over it’s lifespan. Pyrex don’t expect their glass products to be replaced every year so that is normally reflected in their prices. So, for a fiver, what are you waiting for. You can buy this jug that will be in use long after you have bought and thrown away many of the cheap plastic jugs, that are prone to crack / split after a short time. A 5 jug that has the potential to save 10s over it’s lifetime is definitely worth having.
