And I liked the way how easy this was to use, and how precise the mould gripped around your teeth, I use this in the gym when I’m lifting heavyweights and I can really fight down and it doesn’t protect my teeth will buy this any time recommend it to anybody

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy son and I both use these for rugby and boxing. He’s 15 and I’m err considerably older and they fit all size mouths. For once I found that I managed to fit it first time, rather than having to boil and re-boil like other guards (might be luck of course). They do feel slightly softer and more comfortable than other ones I’ve used in the past as well. Recommended

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersShock Doctor mouthguards are my favourite as they mould really well to your teeth. When you first take it out of the packet it does look too small to fit and it does sometimes take a couple of rounds of heating/moulding to get a tight fit, but once this is done, it feels really secure and comfortable. The gel inside means they don’t get as gross as some of the other makes of mouthguard and is also why they fit so well. If you need a mouthguard, I really recommend the Shock Doctor ones.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersYou want teeth? You play/partake in a contact sport? Then buy this and stick it in your mouth. Take your time when you are moulding it to your mouth the first time. I have had a couple and although it says you can stick it in hot water and remould it again (which you sort of can) it will probably never be as good as if you take your time and try and get it right first time.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersBoth my 12 yr old son and I do Taekwondo and he also plays rugby. I would highly recommend these mouth guards. I have tried different ones over the years and they were always hard and uncomfortable and always made me gag, so it was hard to wear them .
However 2yrs ago I came across the shock doctor and have never looked back, they are easy fit and very comfortable. The only thing is just be careful they can be small fitting so I would say any one over 10 yrs old should get an adult size. The very 1st time I ordered jnr for my son and it was tiny we actually laughed at the size of it in the packed so now I order him and adults too and it’s perfect.
I have been buying these shock doctor mouth guards now for two years and wouldn’t consider buying any other type for all our sports.

Took burning my mouth not once but twice to set it right (My own fault) and a little healing time, but these fit solidly into my mouth with no wiggle. Haven’t lost a tooth yet for a punch so that’s a plus!, would recommend, maybe watch a youtube video first.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe first time I moulded it i thought – ‘this is small (didn’t get good coverage of molars) and very CHUNKY at the front.’
I moulded it again and really pushed my front teeth into the gel at the front. The second mould was a game changer, much better fit now.
I’m a 26 yr old male, and its fair to say i do have fairly big teeth, thanks to a good mouth guard i still have all of them.

Only thing stopping me giving it 5 stars is that it is quite chunky at the front.

This comes with a little plastic case.

I play rugby and this shock doctor mouhguard has been a success in training and in rugby matches as they provide a comfortable fit that feels locked in but not too bulky so I can be clearly heard on the rugby pitch at the same time as being protected.

There are some negative reviews about this mouth guard so would like to voice my opinion.
I have played rugby for many years at quite a high level (in my younger years) I have spent 100’s on mouth guards directly fitted by dentists, I have recently started playing rugby again (over 35,s) after reading the negative and positive reviews thought I’d give it a go.
Read the instruction and followed them directly, first attempt good fit however felt like there was a pin sticking through my lip. Attempted to remould a second time pushing the mouth guard into my gums and after a second attempt it fits perfectly! Honestly say one of the most comfortable mouth guard I have used.
    Top marks

As some other reviews have said this is quite small for an adult size but I only have a small jaw so I bought it. The instructions are clear but it took me a few goes to get it to fit properly but once I did then it was very comfortable. I wear it for Hockey and I hope I don’t need to test whether it actually works but it certainly feels like it will at least help should the worst happen.

As with other people takes a few goes to get it right but is a good fit. I do tend to gag on mine tho and there’s a line on the front which initially irritated my inner lip. Overall good value and does the job

Got this for my 14-yr old rugby playing son. He did the first fit himself and it was too shallow. Second attempt I asked him to suck on it and bite down hard into the gel. Now he says it fits great and sticks to the teeth.

Worked well … after the 6th or 7th times of trying to mould it that is!! 11 yr old had it at rugby tonight and he was happy with it but took bit of getting used to the gel mould in it (previous gum shields he’s had didn’t have this in it). Would’ve been 5* if the actual moulding of gum shield didn’t need so many attempts to shape.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe gum shield although seems small when opening moulds easily around my mouth. I don’t intend to get hit but I’m sure if someone is lucky enough to get a punch landed anywhere near my mouth it would offer enough protection, and if not it comes with a $10,000 dollar dental insurance. Not quite sure how unlucky you’d have to be to be offered the full amount – but I’m pretty sure I wont need this, and even if I did, how likely the insurance company would be to pay out if I told them I was boxing with the guard???

Massively disappointed with the case that broke almost 2 seconds after opening the package.

I was originally put off by the reviews as they were very mixed but I decided to buy it because I really needed one urgently. I was originally concerned about the size of the mouth guard but after boiling it and setting it it was perfect. The instructions were simply:
    1. boil water
    2. let the boiled water stand for 30 secs
    3. put mouth guard in the boiled water for a min
    4. put it under a tap for 2 secs and then put it in your mouth (bit with your back teeth then the front and then suck as hard as you can to get rid of the air)
    5. put your set mouth guard in cold water (it doesn’t have to be iced – I didn’t and it worked fine) and leave it for 2 mins.
    6. check it fits again

One bad point is that I thought the front irritated the top part of my lips when I had put it in so what i did was kind of cut it off with a small scalpel and now it’s fine

I’ve seen quite a few reviews complaining about the size and the fit. As far as my experience goes, these are completely wrong. After proper fitting, this mouth guard fits like a glove and provides excellent protection and comfort. Just need to fit it properly!

First, I’ve read many complaints about the guard being too small out-of-the box. Had a similar feeling when I saw it. I’m a 29-year old male with average-sized mouth/teeth, so I was a bit worried. No need though – after fitting by heating it with hot water, the mouth guard fit perfectly snugly, yet comfortably.

I did have to heat it 3 times until the fit was perfect. After the first attempt, fit was very bad. Make sure you heat it up well (but not too long!) and be prepared for some trial and error. Since I perfected the fit, the mouth guard was great: comfortable, protective, easy to slip in, kind of sucks itself into place, but easy enough to remove. Great product!

For those who can’t seem to get this to fit, then you simply need to keep reboiling and refitting. For me, the mould was actually fine – just that it wasn’t stretching open wide enough to fit on my jaw. For it to stretch wider open, you do need to give it a few rounds of remoulding.

Trust me, there was a point where I was contemplating giving up, but after about 4 refits it all clicked and I now have a beautifully moulded fit.

Its very right to my gums and doesn’t slip about when I’m playing rugby at all. Much, much better for than my old Orthopro!

Golden Review Award: 39 From Our UsersBeen wearing this for mountain biking for the last month or so. Thankfully haven’t seen if it works or not yet. Feels comfortable, easy to put in and hugs my teeth so it doesn’t come out with my mouth open. Wouldn’t think about wearing an open face helmet on faster sections without it now, even though you get some funny looks as you pop it into your mouth before dropping into a section.

Easy to mould into your mouth:
Boil your pan of water (and make yourself a nice cup of coffee or tea) – take off the boil for 30 seconds – drop mouth guard in for 90 seconds (at the end hold some hot tea or coffee in your mouth to prime your teeth) – remove mouth guard with slotted spoon – quickly run under the cold tap for a second or two – (swallow tea or coffee) put your mouth guard into your mouth and push in-line with your back teeth then push up on the front teeth – bite down hard and suck all the air out (like you are sucking a sour sweet) – using your fingers on the outside of your mouth push the guard gently against your teeth all the way around while still biting for 3 seconds – stop pressing with your fingers but still bite and wait like this for a few seconds (this lets your teeth relax, you don’t want it mould with your teeth pushed back) – carefully pull the guard off your teeth straight down and straight into ice cold water – wait 2 minutes – try the fit, it should be perfect doing this way, it will hold your teeth without dropping out.

This is my first mouth guard for sport that I have ever bought. I think it is pretty decent, quite soft inside and easy to mould. It is a lot bulkier than what I imagine you would get from a custom mould from your dentist but for less than 20, I don’t think you can complain. I don’t remember it tasting bad, I have used it 4 or 5 times now and it doesn’t taste of plastic at all. Comes with a handy little box.

I’ve previously used a simple 10 mouth guard, but after trying this brand I’m a fan. It took a few attempts to get it to fit properly, but once I’d done that it fitted really nicely. Its much chunkier than my old mouthguard, so feels like it has a lot more protection. My only complaint is that once I’d fitted it, the container it came in was far to small for it to fit in. I guess I’ve just got a big gob!

I have had a few of these mouth gaurds now the only problem i have had i when i personally mess up the boil and bite. Even though the instructions say you can reheat if not a snug fit I found they never seem to sit well the 2nd time and any more they become unwearable. I found if you push on to you back teeth first before biting down I always get a good fit. When the guard is done right its stays in and is comfortable.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersVery happy with the product. It’s not the first time I have bought shockdoctor, I knew they were easy to mould and very comfortable to wear. The gumshield came in its proper packaging with easy to follow instructions (incase there are people who haven’t bought one before and aren’t sure how to mould them). Comes with a case to keep the gumshield in which is always useful!
    Delivery was quick as well.
