Warm Tips

  • Q: Why can not pair it with wifi?

A: Please disable the 5g wifi first before pairing.

  • Q: Why the app shows the sensor disconnect with wifi after pairing successfully?

A: In order to reduce the power consumption, the sensor will enter the sleep mode. At this time, the link with the router will be disconnected. If the temperature and humidity of the device change(temperature±5℃,humidity±5%), it will reconnect to the router automatically.

  • Q: Why it shows temperature only on Alexa app?

A: What shows on Alexa app it depends on Alexa. We can not change the dash board on Alexa. Smart life app just as hub to connect the sensor to Alexa.

It works better as a screen showing room details rather than Wi-Fi updating which seems delayed and so doesn’t always match.

That makes this more useful for general information and as close to your router as you can for reliable frequent updates.

Definitely worth the money. My only grumble is that the instructions are verbose about putting in new batteries or fixing to the wall, but very poor on how to connect to Wi-Fi. But once you download the Smart Life app, it’s easy. You don’t need the app after that so I deleted it. It connected straight away to Alexa, and although the Alexa app takes forever to refresh and show me devices, I could add a room (group) to the thermometer by via an Echo and start using it straight away. Connecting it to Google Home was even easier. For both Alexa & Google Home you need to assign it to a room before you can for ask the temperature in that room.

Ok we run two scenes on smart life
1 turn off water pump switch when temp is greater than 23 C
2 turn on water pump switch when temp is lower than 20.5 C custom do not operate between 10pm and 8 am

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve no trouble setting this up to my home network using the SmartLife App however my network is dual 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ since this only operates on 2.4GHZ.
Easy to connect in the smart life app using “Sensor (Wifi)”. I’ve then been able to setup smart routines for all the smart plugs in the house to turn the heating on at a set temperature. Saving a fortune on electricity costs being able to balance house temperature so efficiently!

Yes this only registers to 0.5 a degree within the app but this is typical of most smart thermostats, in fact the likes of NEST operate within 0.5 degrees. So this is easy to set “If temperature >20C then switch heating off “.

As you can see from the picture I’ve matched this with other temperature readers and the temperature is accurate to within 0.2c which is brilliant!
The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because of occasional drop outs requiring setting up again and the fact the humidity is completely useless- though I don’t use this anyway

4.0 out of 5 stars It's smart heating for electric households!

I wanted a device to control a smart plug and took a chance on this since the price was very reasonable. It’s a very neat and inobtrusive unit that even comes with a mounting screw if you want to wall mount it. The construction is of lightweight plastic but since it’s going to be wall-mounted or placed on a shelf somewhere then this isn’t really an issue. It connected to the wi-fi network very easily on the 2nd attempt – or the first time I read the instructions if you’re fussy about that kind of thing! Uses the SmartLife app and from there you can read the temperature from anywhere. You can also set up Automations in the “Scenes” section of the app. I have mine in the garden office and if the temperature drops below a certain point (or rises above a certain point) then the heater comes on (or switches off). Very happy with the device so far.

Works well for temperature (humidiy reading seems high) after first splitting the 2.4g and 5g channels of the router and then putting them back together under the same name. Only problem is that temperature in the mobile application is shown in increments of +-0.5C and humidity in +-5%. To use with the SmartLife app you need to pair it choosing the Wifi sensor option (not the humidity/temperature sensor option) but all of these are sent by email from the seller. Using it with a Tapo TP-Link smart plug to switch on/off my boiler when on holiday.

If you are using MAC address filtering the MAC address is not shown on it or the box, but you can temporarily disable MAC filtering on the router, pair it with the SmartLife app and its MAC address can be seen on the Smartlife app before renabling MAC address filtering.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to have an easy way for us to ask Alexa about the temperature of the hot water tank and for that, it works perfectly.

Like every Smart Life device I’ve ever had, when it comes to connecting to WiFi the “easy” fast flashing option doesn’t work and the manual option was necessary. To be honest I’ve become used to this.

Once that was out of the way connecting it up to Alexa was easy and she can now tell me about the temperature of the hot water tank at any time.

One weird thing that has been touched upon in other reviews is that within the Alexa app itself, only the humidity is reported. I think some people have also said the opposite and only the temperature is reported. Don’t know what’s going on here, but actually talking to Alexa seems to work fine. You can use the Smart Life app if you need on-screen detail.

Another thing is that you cannot incorporate the current temperature into an Alexa routine. Now I will say I haven’t seen any device yet that can fire a routine based on a thermometer so is this perhaps a limitation on the Amazon side? But yeah FYI, routines don’t currently work.

I also can’t really speak on its accuracy because I’m measuring the temperature of a hot water tank from the outside, and pinpoint accuracy isn’t something I need or can even test. If it seems quite slow to react to temperature changes this is probably a power saving measure as constant WiFi updates on battery power would drain the battery within a day.

All in all I’d recommend this device if you’re on a budget. If you need serious accuracy with no delay over WiFi you probably need to spend more money on a mains powered device.

After a loooong search on Amazon and other websites I found this. The notifications push to the iPhone without the app running when I’m away from home and you can also sign up for text alerts. I set a high and a low temperature alert and it’s works perfectly.

This is a good device work swell and has nice tracking in the app. the only small issue is the app seams to only have 1 degree steps in values not recording the fractions of a degree so measurements are quite stepped…

Does the job perfectly. I have it set to turn on a heater in an outhouse when it reaches a minimum temperature and turn off again at a certain temperature.

Love this it’s very accurate and I have it hooked up to my echo dot so I can find out the temperature with Alexa in any room I put it in.

Was initial put off by previous reviews concerning updates and reading accuracy. However so far the unit works perfectly in my greenhouse giving accurate readings. When initially pairing with my iPhone I had to disable the 5Ghz network otherwise the phone won’t connect to the 2.4GHz by default and won’t pair with the unit.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersDuring the Covid-19 pandemic I’ve been working from a home office setup in the garage. I’ve got a heater connected to a smart plug controlled via smart life and alexa. This handy little smart thermometer gives you a temperature display in alexa and smart life which you can use to automate the switching on and off of the heater.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s as accurate as I need it to be. I have the unit outside near my pond under a roof ,I use it to check the ambient temperature so I know if I need to turn the pond heater on or off. Very happy with it so far and doesn’t seem to be heavy on the battery usage

I wanted to monitor the temperature in another property. This works perfectly and has integrated in the eFamilyCloud app.
Gone are the days of setting up network translations, DDNS and opening ports. This worked over the internet by just connecting to the local wifi.

Found it easy to set up , and had it working with the app in no time . Hooked up with Alexa app , and is alerting me when it drops below a certain temperature – I have it in a outbuilding
