This is a great piece of kit which I can use for a wide range of electronic projects. Temperature control is a very useful addition plus a variety of different tips. Good value.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a good starter kit, contains all you need to get started. Solder too thin for my use.
Soldering iron heats up in 15 seconds, easy to hold. The stand could have been better quality but ok for now.

This kit is ideal for a beginner, and gives everything you need to start soldering. The iron has a digital read out for setting the required temperature. It has a ceramic core and heats up within seconds.

Great piece of soldering kit. Heats up very quick, adjustable temperature. A selection of tips to suit the job with all what you need held tidily in a zipped case . done two jobs with it and very impressed.

I had problems initially with this soldering iron, but a speedy response sorted this and the new iron performed as it should.
Customer service was excellent, so I recommend this seller.

Sad to say this is the first time I’ve soldered since my teen (so many years ago). But this was so easy to use and with the different tips it did the job perfectly. Only downside is the tip cleaner and stand is rather small, so be careful when resting the iron.

it gets really hot which is nice although, I’ve been having issues unsoldering marts from a PC motherboard as I could hardly melt the fludor on it.
the fludor that comes in the packge has a really thin string and when it gets heated by this soldering pen (or whatever this is) jumps like popcorn, could that be due to low quality fludor?

Excellent value. Clearly, for the price it is not going to be professional quality, but the soldering iron is good. The the accessories let it down a bit. The stand is a little awkward to use, and the solder removing tool is too flimsy (failed to function properly after a few uses). But other than that, I’m very satisfied.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe soldering iron kit comes in a handy pack that keeps everything in one place, with only the soldering iron kept loose inside—I’m never tidy enough to put it all completely away! There are some pluses and minuses to the kit, but overall, I am happy with it. The soldering iron is good and comes with some replacement tips. The reason I got it was that I had an ESP8266 board to turn from breadboard to prototype, and try though I might, I couldn’t find either of my old Weller irons. I decided to go for a more compact and versatile iron. The power and, hence, the temperature settings attracted me to this style of iron, and the clear, no-nonsense temperature display tipped me into buying it.

Included in the kit is a nice, fat roll of solder and some other bits and pieces, but here is where the few negatives creep in. The de-soldering tool is very cheap and not really well made, with some sharp corners on the aluminium body and bits of plastic hanging off from the moulding process. It does work, but I will keep it as the third-best tool behind my other two de-soldering tools that I already have. The kit version can stay in the kit for emergencies. The other item that is a bit lacklustre is the stand. It is totally inadequate to hold the iron safely in place, particularly with the new, stiff mains cable on the iron: The tail wags the dog, and the iron wants to jump off the stand. I really prefer the coil versions, where the iron has nowhere to go except stay in place. The sponge is also too small for cleaning the iron tip. The stand will be better than nothing if you are using this kit in a portable situation.

All that said, I really liked the iron from the moment that I first used it, and I don’t think I can go back to my old Wellers at all. The most impressive part was how quickly the iron heated up, and it was ready very quickly indeed. This is perhaps a matter of how much power is available from the heating element inside. The default temperature was about right for electrical soldering of small wiring, so I didn’t really have a need to turn it up, but it should be able to cope with fatter wires.
