It’s certainly a well made, strong tool and I have found it useful when digging very damp compost out of a bag. No fear of it breaking. I would have preferred it to have been a bit larger though.

Very nice quality scoop. Feels nice in my hand and does what its designed for very well. Much better than using a trowel like I was doing before. My boyfriend thinks it would also be good for scooping cat poo out of the garden, but that’s not happening!!

Not the size I wanted as too small so beware this is not a large scoop but it is wel made, strong and light so good for what it is

Used this immediately for potting up with soil and grit. I’m a keen gardener and don’t know why I’ve just used a trowel for years, which can be messy. Holds a good amount securely. Very pleased – feels very comfortable too with the wooden handle. Thanks S & J. Lynda M. (and thanks to the other customers who answered my query prior to buying – a very useful service provided by Amazon)

My wife wanted one for her potting bench and she loves it, looks well made and should last, great for potting-up and getting the compost out of the huge bags.

Bought this for my wife to use when potting plants for our lockdown-inspired garden re-layout. Seems like a quality tool, nice finish, handle and balance. She is very happy with it.

unfortunately I did buy one that’s a little smaller than I wanted , but that was me not reading it properly , metal parts are a decent thickness , its very well put together and I have found a thousand different uses for it , very useful tool

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFor years and years I’ve made do with trying to manage with a plant pot, which inevitably crushes when you dig it into the soil or a trowel which is just to narrow for the job and precious compost ends up being spilled on the floor. Finally I decided to treat myself to one of these as I am doing larger amounts of planting up in my polytunnel.

I have to say it works really well. I can move larger quantities of compost without spilling and it cuts nicely into the compacted compost. A definite advantage over the plant pot method.

Comes with a handy thong to hang up out of the way.

Look after it and it should last forever.

Ordered this to stop compost ending up everywhere when potting plants. I would use other tools which got compost everywhere and took ages to tidy.

The scoop looks and feels premium. The design works well so no more mess while in the garden.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOne of those tools you don’t know you need until you have it. Years of scooping compost out of the bag with a flower pot until I saw this in someone’s greenhouse. Lightweight feeling but entirely up to the job and wood handle nice to hold. Good value and wonder why I never had one before!

I’ve knocked a star off, because it’s pricer than other, similar products, so not ideal value-for-money (13.99, June 2020).

However, it’s otherwise excellent- no more spilling soil or compost when transferring them, which is a huge improvement to my day-to-day gardening bugbears.

    Excellent.

It’s exactly what I have been looking for. Nice rounded cup that is easy enough to scoop compost from my compost bin ready for use. Lovely solid feel to it. I’m sure it will last for sometime.

This is a beautiful looking scoop – expected of Spear and Jackson. A nice solid wooden handle, high polished scoop, nice weight to it and a leather loop, if you like to hang your tools. It puts my other plastic handled garden tools to shame!
