As we live in a rented property we are not allowed to get blinds or change the curtains so this was the perfect solution. Simply cut to size and apply. Comes off easily though so have to smooth it out every few days to keep it on.

I needed these to black out the light for my daughters room and they did just that. They literally just stick to the window. They are amazing. Definitely worth the money and if you were travelling anywhere you just reuse them. Delighted with them

I bought this several months ago for our daughters room and it’s done a great job in there. Today I decided to blackout the lower part of our own bedroom window so we could open the curtain and still have some privacy. I was so happy with the result and how easy it was to achieve that I felt I had to come and share.

Super easy to install just rip a sheet off and flatten it down on the window. If you do it wrong you can just try again. The static grabbing power on these sheets is pretty remarkable and even though it says on the pack that you might need to replace them after 8 weeks, the ones in our daughters room have been going for at least 6 months and show no signs of unsticking. You can cut them up to get them to fit exact dimensions and there’s a decent amount in each pack.

I have used these in conjunction with curtains not just on their own. But 5 stars from us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good blackout optio

his arrived very quick, the 10 sheets are very good sized able to cover very large bedroom window, since buying it, still using the first sheet as the stick on to glass has not decreased in its power of staying in place, when not using it, i just stick onto the wall and back onto the window when needed, does the job perfectly to keep light out and rooms stays very dark, very pleased with this purchase, as i can see this one roll will last a very long time, according to how well this one sheet is doing. great buy. great product.

It tears a little easily but the static really clings to the window well blocking out all light. It is also much easier to put up than some of the other blackout films available, which makes it great for use in a nursery where you might need to put it up and take it down several times a day. There’s a lot in the roll as well so once the static wears out you can just put a new sheet up.

Stays on windows well and does black out room. The hold could be a little stronger as it’s only static (had a few fly out window when window was open) but good as a temporary measure when on holiday.

This is great to use and I’ve cut to size for small stained glass windows in my daughters nursery – easy to use and re-used and great value for money. Have previously bought gro black out blinds but this is much better optoukb

It blocks out the light which is great but it did peel off very quickly (within two days).
We have had to tape it to the window frames to make it stick properly.

I used this for my children’s room and my bedroom as our shutters have been delayed due to covid .
They have remained on for over a month , no issues at all. I remove one panel for light in the room and put it back up in the evening. Because I take it off and back on so much I did add some tape to the side to keep it on. But great way to block ligh

This isnt meant for permanent black out liners for your child’s room. This is meant for those instances when you travel around and need to put something on the windows
Of wherever youre staying so like 3 days. The cuts dont have to be precise. It will stick regardless due to the static effect. Our child has a good nights sleep and doesnt wake up early and so do we. And that is priceless so happy to pay the amount.

If you want something thats permanent and sticks. Check d-c fix window films instead.

This is a fantastic product. We were waiting for our shutters to be fitted which were going to take 8 weeks so we used magic whiteboard magic blackout blind every night and they did start to lose a bit of static but the good thing is they’re on a roll so just tear off a new one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have a South facing house that gets sun all afternoon. This product does a fine job of blocking light. Remember to cut it to size carefully so that it covers the entire pane of glass. After use I just stick it to the wall. It will not block 100% of the light, but it makes a massive difference. If you want 100% blockage brick your windows up.

It won’t block the light 100%, but it works as stated. Some of the pieces list their grip before others but I’ve had the same ones for four weeks now and they still work. You need to be careful though, this is black which means that if there is direct sunlight the glass will become very hot and might shatter. My advice to the makers would be to have one black side and a white side, that would solve the heating issue.

These are on permanently as they are for my baby daughter. I have had to tape parts down over time but I’m not she they are designed for such long use. They are reusable and very effective at getting every spec of light out. You get a lot in one roll. Overall I’m very happy with this product .

I’ve been using these for years and think they’re great. I’ve read some of the reviews about them not sticking and I wanted to pass on what I do to help with this. I’ve got a spray bottle with water and I spray the edges of the windows before I stick them up. Works a treat. Remove the blind in the morning. It’s super quick and easy. My kids sleep through even in the summer months.

Mixed bag. I used this for classroom displays, each sheet cut in half, and written on with chalk pens. Whilst the final product is really attractive, the sheets just don’t stay up. If I open a window, the slightest breeze causes them to crumple and fall down. I am adhering them more firmly with double sided tape, which solves the falling down problem, but ruins the smoothness somewhat.

Very effective blackout. Unlike some of the reviewers, I don’t have any difficulty making these stick, but it definitely helps to build up the static charge by smoothing the film down against the glass. They easily pick up dust and hair, so keep them off the carpet. The only thing not to like is the price, which seems a bit excessive, but what price a good night’s sleep?

(Several people have commented that Magic Blackout can trap heat and cause the glass to crack. We certainly don’t leave it on the windows during the day, and the window where we do use it is north-facing so rarely gets direct sunlight anyway.)

This is the only product we’ve found to really black out a room properly. But it is such a pain to put up and down every time for a nap. Loses the static very quickly, but we use a water spray which works well.

My wife was adamant that not a *chink* of light should enter our sleeping baby’s room – wherever in the world we happened to be – this became a useful addition to our arsenal of solutions to the light problem. We had just moved to a new home and the nursery had a number of windows. So we decided to purchase the Magic Blackout Solution to add another layer of light stopping protection.

Magic Blackout does a fairly good job at stopping light and on the whole and is one of the better solutions out there… believe me, we have tried them all…

If you are passionate about blocking out all light in the pursuit of a better nights sleep and you own your home then do not buy this. Invest in a permanent solution. However, if you have just moved into a new home without blinds, shutters, curtains etc. and are waiting 8 weeks for something to be fitted, then this is perfect and gives good privacy and does a good job of keeping most of the light out. During the day you can peel it back and put it on the wall beside it – the static holds it in place.

It is also useful to take on holiday with you if you are trying to bring an element of blackout for a sleeping baby etc. We have certainly used it in that way.

However, over time the material crumples, creases and loses its ability to stick. We often came to wake our child up at the end of a nap and the Magic Blackout had peeled away in a corner or come off entirely. We ended up using blue tack which means that the product doesn’t entirely do what it claims. Though, duct tape and blue tack are certainly magic!

But for the money, and the ability to be used, taken down and used again it works well. If you are looking for a temporary solution or are renting, or are looking for another layer to your “blackout solution” then it is worth trying. We certainly got our money’s worth and used it over a couple of years.

The blackout effect is excellent, have used in day light with the light summer nights, and it makes the room completely dark. It is a little bit of a pest having to take it down and put it up each day, but not the end of the world as it really does work. Only small niggle is that the static effect does wear off quite quickly. I have seen recommendations of rubbing it with a cloth or holding it up to the TV to bring the static charge back, but haven’t tried this as yet.

I use this to turn day into night for filming interior scenes. It’s very effective at doing this. It comes on a long roll which is perforated every metre or so, so you can separate sheets. The sheets can be wound back on the cardboard roller and kept until needed again. I’ve never considered this a permanent fixture – if you want to black out a window more or less permanently, use hardboard, cut it to size, and paint it to match the walls!

……..amazingly, my son is now sleeping until 7am.
My little boy has ablways been an early riser and as we moved into the summer we were dreading early mornings again.
We have tried the Gloclock etc with little success and so this was really the last role of the dice.
Thank goodness it worked immediately. It is easy to attach and really does create blackout.
25 quid is a lot for this product but it is worth every penny when I am no longer getting up at 5am in the summer!!

I agree with another review I read saying that it’s excellent on the actual blackout front but it’s not quite up to scratch on the sticking bit, esp if you need to cut it to the shape/size of your windows.
BUT, I’ve just used sticky tape to tape it on and it’s fine so if you can be bothered doing that, it’s great! (Mine is up in my infant;s bedroom so it’s permanent)

This did what it said on the description, but doesn’t stay up brilliantly. However, I have now stuck it with sellotape to make sure it stays up and it blocks out all of the light in my son’s room.

I took a chance buying this as I wasn’t sure whether it would be up to the job. I’m pleased to say that i was needn’t have worried. It does exactly what it says it does. Our windows are pretty non-standard so we had to cut the pieces to shape and it hasn’t dropped once since we’ve been using it. We took the roll to the in-laws on a visit and cut some to suit their window too while we stayed.
It does a brilliant job of shutting out the light. If we want to leave the window open, then we just pop a couple of blobs of blu-tak at the corners to stop the wind from pealing it off. All we have to remember now is to turn the light on before putting it up.

Be gentle with it and roll it when not in use as it will start to show light at creases (our little lad helped us out by removing 1 panel in typical 3 year old style)

Golden Review Award: 63 From Our UsersThe need for a dark room to sleep in drove me to this product. Blackout curtains leak light around the sides and floor, while sticky dark window films leave nasty residues if you have to remove them – and can’t be replaced if you temporarily need light.

Having spotted this stuff as a spin-off from a TV “Dragon’s Den” invention, I gave it a go and am now on my second purchase. There was nothing wrong with the first – it stuck to the windows just fine for a whole year… but I learned a lot first time round and wanted a second chance to get it right.

As other readers say, there are problems. First, it really does NOT like shaping itself to the window’s edge. It won’t stick to curved frames, but if you can’t overlap the frames, you don’t get total blackout as light leaks around the gaps. You have to cut the product very wide and hope it’ll stick.

Second, it won’t stick if you open a window and the wind gets under the sheet’s edge. For both problems, I’ve found either a stick of “Post It Note Glue” (like a Pritt stick, but with “Post It Note” glue not permanent stuff) or masking tape is needed to secure the edges.

Third, the perforations on the roll of blackouts leak light if you need more than one sheet per window. You have to cover these perforation rows with more blackout to get the proper effect.

Fourth, small pieces of material don’t stick at all. Anything less than around 20cm square, I found. Again glue / tape is the answer.

Expensive, and not the miracle it promises to be, but so far the best solution I can come up with.
