My son used thee to paint some War hammer models. They went on ok but the colors were all a bit depressing. Quite easy to use, so it’s a good kit for beginners.

Amazing product. Super easy to work with. Most effective on a light primer. It’s more of a glaze than a paint but highly effective. I will definitely buy this product agai

So after a lot of research online into the Slapchop painting method i got these paints.

I’ve been using them the last few weeks to paint some large and some small miniatures.

    These paints are great.
The make painting so quick and easy. they create great depth, using the models own depth to create depth like an ink or a wash, while also being your base coat and highlight.
I have had to apply two coats to some areas and add a highlight or wash on occasion but that was more of a personal choice or to give the effect i wanted.

so tldr great paints and can make a novice feel like a master.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAs along time model (Warhammer/Blood Bowl/Titan legions etc) painter I’d describe my efforts as good – very good but….I am soooooo slow! These paints are a game changer.
Before starting I watched several videos and prepared myself for a drop off in quality but challenged myself to get my backlog of models painted quickly to an above average tabletop standard. My test model was a genestealer cultist and I drybrushed white all over a black primer. I then liberally applied any colour I grabbed all over the chosen area, no plan just painted whatever I fancied.
I was amazed at how well the model came out, overall it took 15 minutes to finish. The day after I covered it in soft tone and happy days. In the last week I’ve finished more models than I normally do in a month with no major drop off in quality.
As I say, im extremely pleased with the results. Great produc

It’s been about 20 years since I last painted a miniature and I was amazed by how well these paints worked, even in my inept hands. The two attached pictures are Reaper miniatures which aren’t meant to be used with spray primer, and the speedpaints still worked well on them. I don’t think you’ll get away with a single coat if you want good results in most cases, but with the right primer and a well loaded brush, it get can you 80% there in one sitting. It’s far, far quicker than doing the traditional basecoat, wash, and dry brush. The great thing is that you can still use those techniques in conjunction with the speedpaints.

I’m a big fan of the integral mixing balls and the dropper style of the bottles. The dropper leads to a lot less mess and wastage compared to the regular pots.

The selection of colours should cover most needs, although there’s no metal style paint, so you’ll probably need a pot of that if you want to render steel weapons and armour.

Overall, though, I’m seriously impressed by the speedpaints and they’re a lot of fun to use.

I got this set for my pottery creations, I was after a versatile couloir set that will provide all the base colours. This set is absolutely perfect and the colours are just stunning.

The set comes with 24 acrylic one coat paints, colours range from white, to blue, to yellow and black. A detail paintbrush is also included. Each bottle comes with two mixing balls, really helpful for pre-mixing the paints. Each bottle contains 18 ml of paint. The current price for the whole set is 74.99.

The colours are beautiful, really vibrant and vivid. It’s a great range to form your colour base. The paints are easy to mix in case you want to create a custom shade. The additional brush is ok, good for detail painting. Do make sure to mix the paints really well before using. They do look great on clay.

Overall it’s such a good paint set. I’d definitely buy this set again, the colours are really nice and apply well. I highly recommend this se

I’ve been using these to paint up some warhammer miniatures and have been very impressed. Usually a single coat has worked for me, and if you mix them up enough then they have provided a good degree of coverage. The paints dry quickly so be accurate, but apart from that I have had no issues.

This is a great set. I’ve used these before and have always been impressed with them. Really easy to use and for the price it’s really good value. Definitely recommend.

This arrives in a nicely printed plastic sealed box measuring approx 22.5cm x 15.5cm x 6.5cm.

It would be easy to wrap & make a nice gift for a model painter or miniatures (if they use acrylics).

The contents of the box are just loose so you can hear all the small dropper bottles rattling around in the box before you open it which I’m not keen on.
For the price, it seems the presentation inside could have been a little neater.

The range of colours is nice, although I would have preferred more skin tones & I really like the small bottles which already have small ballbearings in them so the contents mix up really well & don’t seem to dry out.

They blend well & dry fairly fast, but I would not call them one coat paints as they are fairly opaque.

You also need to prime figures before painting & no primer is included in the box so you need to buy that separately & honestly at 74.99 that seems stingy.

There is a single brush included which is nice & it’s always good to get an extra brush for your collection.

I like these as a wash over a more opaque coat, to add shadows/highlights to a shape, rather than to paint from the primer coat up & they do a lovely job for that.

I think if you are after a quantity of figures that are ‘good enough’ in a shorter amount of time, these are a great choice.

If you want to take your time & produce really detailed higher quality results, then these are a great addition but I’d stick to more solid colours for the majority of your work.

When you come back to add a second coat of this to a dried first coat, there is a chance if you are heavy handed of disturbing the ‘dried’ layer.

If you are into collecting minis or models and you want to start this hobble of painting your figurines then this kit is great to start with. All the colours are vibrant and correct, but you do need a couple of coats to add depth.
I’m new to this hobby but I found the bottles to be impressive, you have so much control over the individual drops of paint that are dispensed that wastage is rare. I also like the brush, good quality and even in my amateurish hands I still had a good quality finish.
Overall, a very good starter kit for newbies. Or, it will work equally well as an embellishment kit for seasoned pros.

The whole set is of brilliant packaging and quality. All speedpaints have a nice consistency and pigment and apply well, are fairly easy to use. A great feature about this product is a little goes a long way. You only need a few drops of it and you can use it for quite a while.

Good sized pots and colour selection. The colours are really vibrant and stay nicely, you don’t need too much on the brush for the colours to stand out. Fabulous for creative and imaginative play.

I would recommend but think it seems a bit overpriced.

I think this is a great beginners kit, or as a top-up kit if you just want some different colour paints.
It comes with a great selection of colours and a basic paint brush.

The instructions suggest you use the paints on top of a white base coat – which this doesn’t come with.
So you would still need to invest in a white base coat before using these paints if you want to get the best use out of them.
The paints have a great pigment and are of high quality. There are metal balls inside each paint bottle for easy mixing and shaking in between uses.

    74.99 at time of review.

These paints are thinner than a normal paint and this can be an issue if trying to cover up any over painting of mistakes. They don’t need thinning and the dropper bottles are easy and clean to use they also mix well with just a few shakes. The set is not cheap but I think they will go a long way if you have a large army to paint. A good range of colours but take a bit of getting use to as you use them slightly different to a normal paint to get the most out of them.

Overall the army painter speed paints are impressive. They provide good value, are a great time saver and the colours are strong. Here are some of the benefits i found while using them:

-Super easy to use just put some on a pallet and paint, no need for watering down the paint or using a wet pallet
-Dropper bottles with mixing balls, means the paints wont dry out and easier to mix
-Saves a lot of time, easy to apply from the brush
-Strong colours, i was a bit sceptical at first when using these kind of paints but all the colours come out strong and not washed out like i thought they would

The downsides i find is it can be a bit more difficult to paint the finer details as the paint consistency is in between a wash and standard paint, covering up mistakes can also be a pain as you have to cover it up with often a lighter colour like white, finally some of the colours come out drastically different than shown on the bottle such as hardened leather came out lot more yellow and less brown like shown on the bottle.

Highly recommend them but take a little getting use to and learning how different base colours affect them. They also work best on areas with a lot of texture on them.

These are great paints. The QR code link on the box goes to a YouTube demonstration by Army Painter themselves, which in my opinion focusses too much on speed rather than quality. The guy in the demo just slaps this stuff on and frankly I think his results are messy and slapdash. Allowing yourself more time you can get some great looking results with these paints as they are very good, although if you are looking to slap colour on quickly then go for it, just not my style or approach, I prefer to layer up and add patina and ageing to my final results the colour range with these paints is great, so playing around with them is good. Also they don’t dry out as you just squeeze out a few drops as you need them.

    Hope my review was helpful

Used to spend weeks painting my models trying to create highlights, etc to give them realistic depth to their colours….. not anymore !!

These look amazing, and can’t wait to get started with them.

Their painting guide video (via QR code on the box) shows just how easy and quick high quality painting can actually be !

This is something like I’ve honestly never seen before.

They mey be a bit more expensive than some model paints on the market, but when you can see what these can do, you’ll appreciate the price, as these aren’t just paints !!

This pack has 24 different colours included, and also 2x brushes to get you started.

Would definitely recommend to any warhammer / role play gamers, and general model makers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow ! This is an impressive paint kit for sure !

Right, so far. I’ve used 6 of the Speed Paints but will continue testing them all, as and when the colours are required.

They’re supposed to be one coat, the equivalent to Citadel’s Contrasts. However, I – personally – would say that nearly all of them are more like washes

They don’t feel pigmented enough and the coverage is patchy, so I’ve had to do several coats (the photos are a cloak after 2 coats and very patchy but hard to show as pairs are matt).

But! The dropper bottles are so nice. It’s really easy to decant what you need with no mess or loss of excess paint. It’s also lovely that they already have ball bearings in the bottle interiors for mixing of the paint up, as contemporaries often don’t.

The biggest plus point is that one drop goes an extremely long way meaning that each bottle is very economical despite multiple coats being needed.

The brush that is included in the set is good quality and perfect for speed painting minis.

4.0 out of 5 stars More like washes? Not opaque from one coat.

I basically model more traditional things. AFV’s, aircraft etc. And I always avoid doing the included figures because miniature painting is a skill I just haven’t made any real effort to learn and I feel I should make the effort to correct.

Now, in order to paint small figures one needs a lot of practice and a whole range of techniques to do well, but I figured that the best way to start out is to faff about getting a feel for things and when these paints came up for grabs I figured this would be my starter for ten. Okay, these are obviously aimed at the war gamer not me, but a skill learned is a skill that can be transferred, so off I went and bought a few cheap figures to play around with.

What I learned is that you can get a fairly decent finish quickly and presumably fine for war gaming where the game is or should be more important than the painting. I know that many people just do the painting and from videos I watched prior to having a go, there are some amazingly skilled people out there who basically like the figures. However, I assume that if you are into the actual game then knocking out a gazillion figures quickly is useful.

Which, is where this paint works best. You can quickly get a fairly decent finish with relatively little skill apart from a steady hand and thus make a load of miniatures in a short period of time. The paint seems to be heavy on pigment but the chemical formulation has a relatively slow drying time and the viscosity works to allow those pigments to pool in cracks and folds.

There is a but. If you want to take your painting to another level and especially so if you make models not wargaming gear then you will still need to use other techniques and more traditional painting methods. These may well form a base but I found that once I’d used them and got a feel for doing figures a little I then started to move on with normal acrylics and enamels.

So, in conclusion, great for getting a fast effective but basic finish for gaming, but for highly detailed models, less useful.

This set arrived in good time in perfect condition.

I have spent a good amount of time getting to know these paints and I happy am very happy with the results that I am getting. However they do take an amount of practise. I have to say that I love these paints and I strongly suspect that the results I get will only improve with time and further practice.

For those of you who are wondering, yes it is faster to paint a mini this way and you can get good results.

Can’t beat the price for what it is. Great selection of colours for a lot of projects. Effect works quite well particularly for lighter colours. I was already aware of the reactivation issue so didn’t come across it. The flesh colour went a bit blotchy on a few on my models hence the 4 star otherwise it would be a 5.

Wish they included a proper black and white for mixing colours. The paints mix well with each other, dont know which one I like more, black primer with white dry brush or white primer.
Overall great quality, cheap and truly speed paints, finished the minis shown in less than 6 hours.

Once you get used to these paints – usually after only one or two tries – you’ll really not want to go back to normal acrylics for your models. Compares more than favourably with the most well known “contrast” type paint. Highly recommended>

Works great, especially ontop of a zenithal primer (dark/medium primer with white primer highlights sprayed from above) as the paint is translucent, mixes well with other colours for more variety (ork skin way too vibrant for my taste so dulled down with 3/1 hardened leather) gives a great near tabletop result on it’s own, and for higher quality paint jobs is a good base starting point.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese paints do exactly what they are meant to, they are a single coat solution to basecoating highlighting and washing. They flow extremely well while giving the exact right amount of coverage. To test these paints I undercoated 2 models (pictured), the left one in halfords grey primer with a gw corax white highlight. The right one just in corax white. I used palid bone and blood red. (I applied these in a bit of a rush as I was eager to test them out so excuse the mistakes :P)
