What kind of liquids can be sprayed?

All low-viscosity solvent-based and water-based materials, such as enamels and varnishes, protective wood-staining products, primers and oils

Do I need to dilute th epaint when spraying with a HVLP paint sprayer?

Highly viscous materials, however, should be diluted in 10% increments. Use water for water-based materials and solvents for solvent-based materials. This will ensure that every paint application is a success.

How do I prepare the working area correctly when spraying with interior wall paint?

Cover all surfaces and objects that are not to be sprayed or remove them from the working area.

What are the advantages of spraying compared to application by brush and roll?

– Uniform paint application, smooth, more resistant surface

– High covering capacity

– Easy coverage of corners and edges

– Hard-to-reach areas

– Textured surfaces

Are there any tips and tricks for achieving a perfect spray finish?

We recommend spraying in a vertical spray direction. Move the device at a constant distance of 10-30 cm and at a constant speed. Make sure that the spray overlaps the previous spray slightly in order to achieve a uniform paint coverage.

Make sure you have the right size for the job / the info said I could paint shed with this. You can but it took ages, my arm ached and I didn’t realise it would be so noisy. I don’t think the neighbours were pleased. That said the fonish was good, you have to clean properly before using again – get any dried paint out of the tubes which requires some dedicatio

I like the way it fixes together and the way it works. It’s good quality and sturdy. Saves hours compared to brushes. Follow the instructions and get going. It’s a

Handy and does a good job for the price!
Very easy to assemble, very very easy to use and very handy as the tank capacity is optimum to hold it in your hands for a long time specially when we did the fencing which is about 6.5 feet. Re-filling the tank and reusing is without any glitch and takes only a few seconds.. Very happy with the purchase and did the whole fence about seven panels in under two hours.

    Makes fence painting fun.
I brought this to paint 30 fence panels and a summer house in the hope that it would speed things up.

The container is a little on the small side, but other than that I have no complaints.

Gives a really neat finish and excellent coverage. It’s far more fun and less messy than a traditional brush.

If you are considering this to paint a large area, I would recommend buying the additional larger paint pot, but overall a quality product.

Nice and easy to setup and clean. I must point out that properly cleaning it is a must for anything with paint in!
I sprayed some cupboard doors with the B&Q paint and they came up pretty good. Keep cleaning the nozzle to avoid dry paint making splatters.
I have not done any fence painting yet but i can imagine it would be ideal for this.

Used this for my sheds. Absolutely brilliant. Just make sure you are covering areas around it that you don’t want paint on. It sprayed all over my arms/hands but it washes off with water so that doesn’t bother me.

    Great value sprayer......
Once you work out the airflow…very easy to use..
Sprayed 7m of fencing, 3 coats as a trial run. looks great..
Don’t spray too heavy, several thin coats is best. Watch videos on YouTube it really helps on use and cleaning….

Quicker that a brush by 3 fold..
Gets in all the awkward places a brush cannot.

Added 50mm of water to fence per paint 750ml…(paint was very thick)
Just wish it had a larger tank that’s all ….keep it washed out with soapy water (all the parts) and will last the distance..
Quite heavy when filled with paint, but my fence area is large (42m x 2.4m)
so expected an aching wrist after 3hrs if use….but beats blisters from using a brush for hours on end…

All in all does what it says on the tin…..!
    5 for me.

Great quality Paint Sprayer and easy to
I have a medium size garden and to paint a fence with a brush it would be too much time consuming. I was looking for a good sprayer for months. I found many good reviews about Wagner company. I decided to have a go and get Wagner W 100 Electric Paint Sprayer. I choosed a basic model as I didn’t want to spend much for highers models. I paid only 29. Now I can say it was very good decision and It was burgain for that price. The piece is very well built, easy use and maintain. The instruction is very good and there are a lot of videos on Youtube to show how to use and maintain it. I saved a lot of time and money using Wagner W 100 Electric Paint Sprayer. Seems to work well
I tried this briefly just as a test with Ronseal Fencelife+ which is quite a thick paint. Initially I tried with 10% dilution and it sprayed without any problem. I then tried undiluted and it sprayed this without any problem. I did not have to adjust any settings. Now hoping for a good dry day when I can do the complete fence. The only problem I had was when spraying clear water to clean the sprayer. I do not know how but water had entered the motor unit somehow. It tripped the house mains power. I had not applied the grease to the “O” ring so perhaps water enterer via that route. There was quite a bit of water in the electric compartment when I shook it to ensure that all water was out. Sprayer worked OK after. Just a little concerned as to how the water actually entered the motor compartment!

    Good For Larger Tasks
I brought this to spray paint my kitchen cupboards I was upcycling. The spray area was too wide to get decent coverage despite using the adjustment button. It certainly did give controller even narrow spray coverage as shown in the demo clip. However, I have used it on my garden fence and for spraying the interior walls of my garage, and it covered both evenly and gave a lovely professional finish. It is easy to disassemble to clean. This is a good product for use on larger surfaces but not for smaller ones such as cupboard doors. I’ve knocked a star off for the control of the spray not being as shown in the demo.

    Don't expect perfection first time
Well it’s certainly a lot better than the “Ronseal’ manual pump-up sprayer. Easy to assemble. Using it calls for a certain technique and practice to avoid a uneven finish. Found thinning Ronseal Fence Life by 10% helps. It uses more preservative than with a brush (normal for a sprayer) but is a lot, and I mean a lot, faster and easier. Will need a second coat to even things up but is so easy it’s no real effort. Only drawback is the preservative container is quite small and needs refilling after only a couple of minutes. Take care near near other buildings as it delivers at such a pressure there can be ‘sprayage’. Easy to clean if you follow the instructions but be meticulous as performance with will be affected if any remaining preservative is left to harden…

Absolute game changer. Not going to lie I was nervous about trying this but really didn’t need to be. Had a few test sprays with water to get a feel for how it works and setup the paint adjustment on the trigger. Managed to paint 8 panels in under an hour. Find yourself a plastic panel to block the over spray around the concrete posts and adjust the paint quantity on the trigger to a minimum and it’s an absolute dream to use. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fab stuff..I am a complete beginner and this is an fairly expensive stuff but so worth the money. I managed to paint the 2 sides of fence in 4 hrs with stop n start as it recommends painting for 40 min in 1 go.
The spray is good force n it covers good surface area in 1 fill.
Cleaning it was simple n easy. After my 3rd pause, it only took me 5 to 10 min to dissemble n clean it n it was ready to go after a short rest again.
My struggle was filling the small reservoir multiple times as a lot of paint fell out in trying to fill so I bought a large funnel.
It may have helped to have 2 reservoirs n a funnel included but really not a major problem for the quality of work it delivers.
I have cleaned it back in its pack, ready for next year.

The biggest negative is it’s quite heavy with the motor being on the gun and also the lead isn’t Long so when spraying a tall fence you have to lift your extension lead as well as the sprayer! Other than that it is very good

    Excellent for Creocote
The one major criticism I have of this unit is the size of the reservoir. I spent more time refilling the reservoir than actually spraying my fence and shed, but since that was done amazingly quickly I’m not really complaining.

I have yet to try it with any sort of paint and other reviews don’t give me any confidence on that score, but for thinner fluids such as creocote or a timber preservative I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. It is one of the few genuinely time saving gadgets I’ve ever bought and I’ve bought quite a few! In fact this was so efficient that what I’d thought would take the best part of a day was done in a morning, so I look forward to using it on other things and experimenting with paint.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersYou need to practice
I’ve read a lot of reviews on here and I’ve had mine for just under a year now.
You really do need to practice with it before you just go at a job. Best thing to do is spray water through it into a bucket or on some cardboard to see how it sprays and which direction you have the spray set at as you can adjust horizontal and vertical spray.
Once you are clear on how it operates do the same with some paint to make sure the flow is correct and the amount is coming out that you are comfortable in controlling.
I’m enjoying this spray gun a lot. I’ve used it mostly with acrylic paint on MDF and I keep getting better with the results.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat Performance on Fence Panels
Almost one year on and dozens of fence panels later this paint sprayer is still going strong.
Very easy to use, just ensure you water down the paint slightly to reduce any clogging.
I loaned it to my neighbour too and he blitzed his garden in no time.
Noise is like a hairdryer so not too bad in the garden.

I had tried other similar ones which quickly clogged or were just a bit rubbish.

I just took it out the shed after months lying idle so I could touch up some panels and it’s working as good as new. German made and it shows.

Cleaning is easy enough, a little bit of a faff and I’d recommend blowing through the tube to blast the paint out when washing to get a thorough clean but this isn’t a big deal.

I would thoroughly recommend this product. 5/5

Does what it says on the tin…. it puts a lot of paint done, so you need to keep moving and don’t over do it or it’ll start to drip and spoil the finish but once you get used to the speed it through out paint then it’s great. Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersReally great buy and really pleased with the end resul
Bought this spray gun after reading a lot of good reviews. Never used one before but soon got the hang of it. Few bits too clean but an old tooth brush and a 3mm pipe cleaner made light work of it.

Used it to paint my kitchen units and more than happy with the results. I found that as long as I got the right paint consistency the finish was great. I added 20% water to F&B water based metal/wood paint.

Pictures are of the kitchen before it’s totally finished but already pleased with it so far.

The spray is direct but just a warning that dust sheets need to be everywhere is using Inside. A layer or dried paint dust will get everywhere. This was easy to wipe up off of hard surfaces.

I bought this to paint intricate plaster cornices in my Victorian Villa, an absolute pain taking for ages and never satisfactory using a paint brush. I thinned emulsion with 10% water and finished the job with less back ache in 10% of the time, an excellent finish and getting in to the nooks and crannies. Only point to mention is that overspray on walls and ceilings would make this an impossible task but I was painting the cornice first to eliminate any concerns. Definitely a very useful tool for all sorts of applications. I recommend using a sheet of paper/card to trial your tool setup before starting to spray the intended area.

I bought this to tidy the garden fences and sheds. It was ready to use within a minute and very easy to put together. So far, I’ve painted a couple of fence panels and three sheds. I’m normally very messy when using brushes or rollers but I got the jobs done with no paint on me or anything that shouldn’t have got painted.

My only minor niggle is that it is a little slow. I tried increasing the paint flow but didn’t notice a lot of difference. This is an all round great sprayer, we have used it for valspur gloss, chalk paint and ronseal one coat fence paint in the 3 week or so we’ve owned it, all without issue. It is exactly the sprayer people need when looking to use one. We managed 16 panels in under 3 hours today, no stress or mess. All cleaned up and back in the box without issue, and I know when I go to use it again it’ll just work. Very pleased and highly recommended.

    Would recommend.
I painted a fence and a shed with this. The paint I used was Cuprinol shades. I didn’t dilute the paint, it worked as is straight out of the tin. I would’ve preferred a battery operated one for convenience but I imagine that would be considerably more expensive. There’s a dial on it that allows you to adjust how much paint sprays out which I found useful on bits at the edge that had to be neat. Obviously do not use on a windy day unless you want to wear the paint.

Sooooo much easier than using a brush.
    Quality product,.
I have a 30 metre fence around my house and was finished in 2 hrs.
The longest part is having to refill it.
So I bought Creocote in 4 litre bottles, way better coverage than a 5 litre tin.
Took the bottle with me and filled up when needed.
So much easier than messing about with a tin
Would of took me over a week with a brush.
    Well worth the money.
    Would recommend to everyone.
(Creocote doesn’t need watering down either and Is oil based so will last 5 times longer , only comes in light or dark brown though)

    GOOD QUALITY, EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE
I bought this sprayer as a trial and I have found it to be excellent. It gives good coverage, I don’t know what it is like for paint I am using it to apply preservative to wood and it’s excellent for that. It’s much faster than by brush or even the hand pump sprayer this sprayer is another level. It’s comfortable to hold, the container is about right in size, it has a good strong flex that could be a metre or so longer and would improve the product.
All said I give it 5* based on it’s performance and it applies an even coat and I’m pleased with it.

Game changer for fence and decking painting!
I painted 5 panels in a day prior to getting this and then painted 10 in a morning once it arrived. This was easy to use, quick to setup and has been easy to maintain so far. We had panels with varying base colours including black that we wanted to go over with a dark grey and this did the job. We actually found we used less paint overall. The first coat took longer but the second was quicker and really made the colour pop and the job look finished. Have since used it to spray the wooden decking saving hours vs my last effort. Would definitely buy again!

    #Does It do the Job?
Ok so I did a lot with this piece of kit.

    1. Cleaning- the item is cleaned using warm soapy water, this would be made easier if the tube was detachable, but when soaked in warm soapy water it is fine.

    2. Use-using this device is great the coverage is good, and saves so much time, use the correct new paints for the correct materials etc. You can not use old paints that may have small bits in in it would block very easily.
Also I would recommend a test run and see how the paint takes to it and see if you can thin the paint if needed as it maybe to thick, which means you use less, but mix in a separate bucket etc so you have one large amount for purpose.

Weight- after spraying for 10-15 minutes it’s a bit of an arm work out no pain, no gain lol.
Just pause or use the other hand to support below container you will be having fun spraying away.

    3. Assembly- putting this device together was simple enough just be sure to look at the bit that it clicks in to as it only rotates one way once pushed in and will not go the other way, don’t complicate it

    4. Overall very happy with this item, did my fence panels and looks great, was so impressed I did my gate and it looks new, (compliments from the neighbours) also went on to do my walls also good but as the surface is different needed more paint for coverage, but this was expected will update with pics on my next use as I want to make sure it has not blocked. I will update

Golden Review Award: 66 From Our UsersMADE FENCE PAINTING MUCH EASIER AND QUITE FUN
Originally bought to upcycle an old piece of old furniture which turned out great. Been sitting in the shed for months.
Had my garden redone and all fences replaced just before the lockdown. The contractor quoted me 500 to paint all fence panels which I thought was steep so left them.
Decided to paint them myself this week and it took me an hour to hand paint one coat on one fence panel and it looked like it would need at least two more coats. I have 23 panels to paint! ( now understand why I was quoted 500)! Life is too short to spend days painting fences. Then remembered I had this sprayer. Spent an hour covering all the areas I didn’t want to get paint on with plastic dust sheets (boring)! Thinned out the paint in a bucket, loaded up the sprayer, put on some music on and away I went. Took less than 10 mins to do one panel and if you keep a steady flow, will only need one coat with the sprayer. Result! The paint does run out quickly but I found one pot will do one panel and then fill up, which is easy to do.
Did about a dozen panels today and as it’s quite heavy to hold with full paint pot, the wrist got a bit tired. Will do the rest tomorrow.
Cleaning the sprayer is a bit of a faff but if you wash the paint pot out separately, which I did in a bucket, and then fill it up with clean water and spry it out again in a bucket, just to clean out the tubes and nozzle, it’s much quicker. I do this outside in a bucket to prevent the sink in the house getting paint all over it.
    Must clean after each use.
I must say it’s quite fun doing a chore which could have been mind numbing.

Researched a few of these, wanted the NoCry but couldnt get it so paid a bit more for this one. Wish i’d bought this years ago, far better / quicker than using a brush. Used it to paint a 5m x 2m section of fence. Complete in 1 hour – longest part of the job was re-filling the container a few times as it is a bit on the small side. That said, any bigger and it would probably be too heavy to hold when spraying. Only gripe – wish the electrical lead was a bit longer, save dragging the extension lead around. I used Ronse@l spray fence paint – no diluting, no blockages in nozzle, etc. Easily cleaned tool after use in 5-10 minutes, tops. Really pleased with result. Would recommend.

    Great little spraye
The first time I used it was a faff because I found the bottle is too small and the cable is about a meter and a half which means you have to carry the extension lead. But don’t let it put you off the second time I watered the fence paint down about 15% then I put that paint in a watering can the I used that to fill the bottle.top tip do it in bulk because once you get going and you can cover a large area very quick it’s simple to disassemble and clean I just wish the cable was longer but I thought it was great overall

    Excelle
I did a lot of research into sprayers before tackling our garden fencing. We have 30+ panels so wanted something I could be assured of. I was disappointed, this is so easy to us. I had a couple of tester panels before I was 100% confident but that was more based on me getting a good technique than an issue with the machine. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this. Each panel takes less than 5 mins. The prep is key and takes up the bulk of the time.
The only improvement would be a bigger paint holder but as it is it is light and no arm ache the next day!

    Good spraye
I was very dubious about paint sprayers before but thought I’d take the risk. This sprayer is amazing, really quick to to paint fence panels with. The only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 is the length of the cable. It’s about a metre long so if you are painting above head height you sometimes need to hold the extension lead up, otherwise a really good sprayer.

Bought this to paint my garden shed. Wow… so easy to use and fast too. It sounds obvious but you’ll need to think where you’re going to move the sprayer to once it starts spraying or you’ll end up with runs, even on the low setting. Overall, I’m really pleased with it and would recommend.

Product was scheduled to arrive in 5 days due to the current crisis, however, product arrived in 2 days, thumbs up seller.

The sprayer itself is very easy to use, comes part assembled, just need to rotate in the hosel and fill the paint canister and off you go.

I used Ronseal fence life dark oak with no dilution but did give it a nice stir in the canister each time. Paints well, make sure to keep the same distance away from the item your painting to get good consistent layer. Any excess just brush in with paint/fence brush.

Easy to clean, put items into hot water, steep and give scrub and paint comes off easy.

Has made manual fence painting job a breeze, time saver to say the least.

Used it for the first time today and wished I had bought it years ago.
I have a slatted fence and it was so easy to get to the back spars which you normally cant reach with a brush.
You can adjust the flow of the paint so you can do a light coat or a heavy one depending on how faded the wood is.
I did 4 panels in 15min which would have normally taken me 2 hours with a brush with nowhere near the finish |I achieved with the sprayer.
I don’t normally do reviews but was so impressed with this that I felt I had to.
Tried one of the cheaper types last year which was hopeless so worth shelling out another 20 quid and buy this one

This piece of kit is amazing. I bought it to paint fence panels. It took less than 3 mins to coat both sides of a 5ft x 6ft fence panel. This would have taken up to an hour using a brush. Golden Review Award: 20 From Our Users4.0 out of 5 stars Good bit of kit - but do you really need one?!
First, let me say that this was the first paint sprayer I have ever used after hearing bad reviews of paint sprayers in general from other people, I’m a perfectionist and I hate painting fences. I was using water-based sprayable fence paint diluted by 5-10% water (as per the instructions) onto brand-new unpainted fence panels. It is also worthy of note that I got through the paint at about twice the rate the manufacturer suggests you will on the side of the container, so make sure you buy enough.

The spraygun itself is exactly as good as I could’ve expected it to be for 50. Easy to set up, easy to use and delivers a good finish, in general. Also very easy to clean. The only slightly negative side I have for the gun is that the pot which holds the paint is quite small, so you find yourself having to stop painting quite quickly to refill the pot again, but this is only a small downside. If you want a paint sprayer to do a few fence panels a year, this has worked well for me recently. A good paint sprayer. However…

My question to you is whether you really need a paint sprayer depending on your needs and how much of a perfectionist you are.

The gun is very good at painting flat fence panels which are not rough to touch. Because the spray comes out in quite a fine mist, it is not very good at giving an even and thick finish on the rougher areas as it is on the smooth areas of wood, and in the corners and the angles of the fence panels. The paint can also tend to run quite quickly if you cover an area with too much. You will therefore find yourself having to apply a second coat in order to get a deep and even finish. You will also need to use a brush to touch up the harder to reach corner areas of the panels. And depending on how much of a perfectionist you are you will also have to spend a reasonable amount of time masking up the areas that you don’t want to end up overspraying onto. And don’t even think about using this (or probably any spraygun) to paint the fence when there’s anything above about a 5 mph wind.

In summary, if you are spraying a lot of flat fence panels where you don’t have a concern for overspray going onto your neighbours conservatory, kickboards which are of a different colour to the fence panel itself and you’re not a perfectionist about the detail of having to use a brush to get into the corners to get an even, thick-paint look then using a spray gun such as this will be right up your street because it is undoubtedly faster than doing it all by hand – and you won’t be disappointed with this model.

But if you are a perfectionist and want a very even very high quality look to your fence panels, you will probably spend just as much time masking up areas you don’t want to spray by accident and touching up the areas that the gun can’t get to very well with a brush, so you might as well just do the whole thing by brush.

I was so excited about using this. In my rose tinted glasses little world, i imagined neatly sprayed skirting boards and doors. But no, all i got was spitting gobbing vixen. My 225 sprayer is brilliant. This thing is crap.
Read instructions. Thin primer by 10% ok done that. Aim at wall and gobbits of paint fall out, use the adjuster ( and how or what that does is a mystery). Still gobbits of paint. Thin paint some more. And then more. And then at 50% it kinda of works. But my god does it spit out paint everywhere and hardly in the desired place. It was running down the door, down the skirtings, down my foot, down everywhere.
And so i come to the bit i highly recomend. Synthetic paintbrushes and a roller in a tray. Becouse it was so runny i managed to get a good coat on. Looked nice when i finished
I could NEVER use this in a customers house. They would laugh at me.

Excellent kit and does the job very well. I’m using it to spray picture frame mouldings with quality water based paints and the results are very professional. Much better than using spray cans which can be very toxic indoors.

ONE TIP: Make sure that the spray head is properly attached to the handle otherwise the paint will just spray out in no time and you could be going through the whole tank in minutes. It may give the impression that it is attached but pay attention to the rubber O ring as it must be properly inside the handle before twist locking it (I learned it the hard way 🙂

After 5-10 minutes of practice I was able to spray each panel fairly quickly. Managed to clog the sprayer on the first day but this was down to some debris in the paint. Sprayer cleans up with very little effort. I’d highly recommend this unit, managed to paint the whole fence in a couple of hours whereas before it took me 30 minutes per panel.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersFantastic - makes things easier..
I was faced with the scary task of painting my kitchen cupboards which would involve undercoating front+back and then doing the front+back with wood paint.

After reading various reviews, I was dubious on how effective this would be.

After spraying 34 cupboard doors (Each door receiving 4 coats) I’m super impressed and couldn’t have done it without – no brush strokes at all.

It does take some getting used too and the first couple doors did need some TLC after my first attempt to perfect my technique.

    Some things I’d recommend for all first time users;

    1) Dilute the paint properly (I was a bit concerned about this step prior to ownership); but you soon realise the correct amount. I was doing approx 50ml of water to my paint. If you don’t dilute enough, the flow of paint is low and coverage is poor, too much and the paint is too ‘wet’ and runs off. Again, trial and error and you can resolve this quickly.

    2) When you pull the trigger, for the first couple of seconds aim “away” from your target area as normally get paint bobbles after this spray as normal.

    3) Reduce the paint flow appropriately. There is a little spinner near the trigger of the gun which controls how much paint gets pumped out. Out of the box, mine came on max and I zoomed through 500ml in 3 cupboard doors which lead to a state of panic. I reduced it too it’s lowest setting and it was fine and 500ml then did around 15-18 doors.

    4) Wear proper PPE, you’ll definitely need a decent mask (respirator) & googles for this – as it’s a fine mist that does go everywhere..

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersWagner W100 Gun Paint For Wood/Metal ...
I haven’t used my Wagner W100 spray Gun yet as I’m not ready to use it until my fence is finished but it works just fine as I have tested it dry to make sure it was all working in-case of any problems with the unit, it seems fairly powerful with lots of air coming from the tip and very easy to adjust the settings and also to dismantle to give it a good clean once used, It does come with a spare seal and a small sachet of lube, also comes with a stir/mixing stick made from plastic to clean easily. The only slight downside is that the power cable is far to short for purpose so you may need a single plug extension cable (not the multi reel type) if you are to use it up a ladder for example?, it really could do with being about 3 meter’s or so long to solve this niggle. I may be using it in the future to spray some garden ornaments with smooth masonry paint and also some metal shelving with exterior gloss paint so looking forward to seeing what this is capable of very soon?
I have also purchased a larger 1.4 litre pot which came with a screw on lid to be able to keep your paint fresh if not used straight away.
This larger 1.4 litre pot I purchased from the Wagner website directly although it maybe available from amazon?
you can also download manuals and order spare parts and service kits from Wagner directly too (These maybe available from amazon?).
