I have tried these with a beef brisket last weekend, after super fast delivery from the supplier. I agree that these chips did make a difference, they changed the flavour of the beef compared to last time we had this where it was just plain smoked.

Would I say it was scented for me to smell whilst it was smoking, not really, smoky and that’s about it, but then that means it is doing the job.

Value for money, they are charging a fair bit for some wood chips, but they are marketing it with some nice fancy packaging.

Ease of use, very easy, I soaked them for 30 minutes in some water, before throwing them over the hot coals. Lots of instant smoke, so get the lid back down quick to get maximum benefit. I threw on a handful every 90 minutes (cooked the meat for 11 hours in total). You could put on more but that I found was enough. Also means I have enough for another day.

Would I recommend, yes, go for it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy son bought this product, for a barbecue last week. We hadn’t used it before. We all thought it made such a difference, added a real smokiness. It will last for ages, nd is worth the money.

Highly recommended. Takes your meat up a level. I do pre soak for an hour and tried just throwing them on the coal, anything quick cooking your better off just throwing them on. Wouldn’t do a bbq without them.

I wasn’t sure about this at first as they are very small pieces, but after soaking in water and putting a handful on the coals it gave my pork, chicken and sausages a lovely smoky flavour. There seems to be enough in the bag for four or five bbq’s.

Just ok. I can’t say i noticed the flavour that much. I must admit i didn’t smoke them effectively as my grill was open for most of the time. Will try using the chips directly onto the grill next time.

Haven’t yet tried the whiskey wood chips, but when opening the box it was delivered in I was hit with a strong whiskey wood smell which filled the room. They smell really nice, however, the reason I could smell them was because the bag wasn’t sealed properly and some wood chips had fallen out of the bag. I can’t see anywhere on the packaging that says they need to be kept sealed when being stored so I hope they won’t lose the scent before being used.

We have a small BBQ that is enclosed with a lid and after doing some research, realised that it could be used to smoke meat. After shopping around we decided to try these oak chips. Without sounding dramatic, this was the epiphany moment of BBQ/camping cooking!
Set up the BBQ as normal and just before you put the food on, throw a small handful of these oak chips onto the coals and then just cook as normal.
The taste of your food, just from adding these chips, will be enhanced 10 fold! Everything from smoked halloumi to real smoked burgers will ensure you become the BBQ king!

I use these with my kettle bbq but I soak them in water for about 30 minutes and I wrap small ammounts in aluminium foil before putting them on top of the coal because they might burn up too fast. You might not need to do that if you have a smoking box. As for the flavour, it’s just amazing ion my opinion!

This gives a really good flavour to poultry. The size of the chips works well in my Weber Summit. The flavour is better than using oak chips which can be a bit too strong. They are quite expensive though for what is a fairly small quantity.

Haven’t used this yet, but package came with a split in the bottom. Having used previously gives a great flavour but shame the package was damaged (not enough to warrant sending back)

Golden Review Award: 142 From Our UsersIf you use a barbecue without wood chips your are missing out. Over the years, I have tried a few different types of wood chips from different brands and I do like the Weber ones best as the chips are sized perfectly, they are large enough to last a while but also thin enough to fall through the grates on a Weber grill straight onto the coals, this allows me to add more chip throughout the barbecue as needed. Also I love the whiskey ones, but to be honest I can’t smell or taste any whiskey flavour In the smoke, however the end result on the chicken or meat is very tasty.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersTried my new smoking box with these wood chips. My first time smoking food properly. I left them soaking for two days due to not using them on the planned day. I put the smoking box containing the wood chips in the middle of the coals (directly onto them). It took about 5 – 10 mins for the wood to start smoking by which time I placed the sausages onto the grill above and placed the lid of my weber kettle barbecue back on. As you can see, the sausages are smoked to a lovely golden colour and tasted as good as they look.

great flavour and quality you expect from the name, an hour soak before hand and these lasted roughly an hour in a smoker brought off amazon, found after going to the webber web site some seller on here are really inflating the costs (more so for the logs than the chips) so I would advise checking there stock levels prior to amazon purchases

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI was a touch perplexed when i opened The box and saw how small this bag of wood chips was. My mind was expecting 5you kg charcoal sized bag and the reality is more grab bag of crisps. There isn’t a lot there for the money, But if they are well soaked before use there is a decent amount of flavour coming from a relatively small handful of chips. Talking about flavour – when smoking meat, you have a short window in which for teh smoke flavour to be absorbed. These give a truly fantastic rich flavour over some other unbranded products in have purchased. At least with Weber branded products, you are always guaranteed quality.

In summary i am happy but value score is low

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese Weber Apple Wood Chips give a really nice flavour – especially for Pork and Turkey!

This is the first Weber branded smoking chips I have bought and as usual with the Weber brand, I am very impressed with the quality.

The bag was a lot smaller than I expected (I didn’t read that it’s only 700g in the description), but to be honest, you don’t need a great deal of them to add a nice smoker flavour to your food.

I am using these chips in an offset smoker and as recommended, soaking them in water for 30 mins before use before wiping them off and putting them directly in the fire chamber on top of the fuel.

A handful is all that is needed to produce a clear smoke ring on a joint of pork.

The only downside is the price and I think next time i’d be tempted to see what other brands are available.
