BLACK+DECKER

Powerful Cleaning

The PD1200AV-XJ features a high-performance motor that ensures powerful cleaning performance and efficiency. As the motor is positioned inside the filter, the dustbuster is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre it around during the use.

The cyclonic action spins the dirt away from the filter and maintains optimum suction power while the double action filtration aims to give high performance for longer

Flexible Hose

The wrap around hose is designed to offer a range of usage options. To operate the vacuum like a traditional hand held unit, you can leave the hose and nozzle in the fixed position or you can unclip the nose piece in order to reach tight or awkward areas. The flip-out upholstery brush is ideal for dust removal on delicate surfaces like air vents or around switches on the dashboard.

Ease of use

The PD1200AV-XJ features dual functionality as it can be used as a traditional hand vac or the handle can be removed when cleaning hard to reach areas.

The dustbowl features a window allowing you to view when it needs emptying. You can simply rinse it under running water if required.

A convenient storage bag is included, allowing you to store the vac and accessories in the boot of your car. This way it is always within the reach when needed.

Bought as a gift for my husband. He’s totally thrilled with the performance of this car vac. Great suction power and light and easy to use. Bought as a replacement for another brand but this Black and Decker is much more robust and the power cord seems more substantial. Great product.

Pretty great vacuum for it’s size and power. The suction is not the same as a house vacuum, but it cleans the car very well, carpet and even the dashboard. Good selection of extra pieces to clean small surfaces and a small brush. Pretty good overall.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis recommendation was the best thing ever for my car as cannot park near my house to use a normal vacuum cleaner. it’s Suction is the best I’ve found for a 12Volts vacuum cleaner and the attachments and manoeuvrability really easy to use. The car was clean in a few minutes rather than 20 minutes with previous brands. Well Black & Decker and Thank you Camper Vibe for your video and recommendation. So good for Camper vans, caravans & Cars

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis little car vacuum is actually more powerful than I imagined it would be, it’s very lightweight, easy to handle and more importantly powerful enough to clean our car, has good accessories too, I like the wide suction adapter with attached folding brush, this is great for car vents etc, and the slim nozzle is great between seats, it’s very easy to empty and has a washable filter too, overall the best car vacuum I’ve owned in 45 years.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use this in our campervan. The suction isn’t as powerful as a mains-powered vacuum cleaner but it is surprisingly good and does the job, both on hard surfaces and on our floor mats.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersI will try to be as honest as I can in a hope, my review will help you decide to buy this or not.
So first impression: very small, very light weight and comfortable to hold and use, the hose is not too long but as it is small the unit it self, can be moved around. Very long wire, easy to reach the boot even on an estate car. The wire it self is thick and a bit hard, shows quality straight away.
How it works? Its not too loud, you can work longer time with it without killing your head or ears and this is a good thing. The suction power is not to be compared to a 230V hoover, but is defo the best one I have ever used. I have managed to completely clean the carpet in the car, picking up everything from leafs to small chips without leaving anything behind. Yes, it took a bit longer than with the one used to hoover the house with, but this is a 12V unit, not to forget. The attachments are nice and you can reach tight places as well with them, the brush head works well on the vents , but dont use it on the carpet, its not made for that. You can fold back the brush and use the wide head to large areas like the boot to get it done quicker.
How lond does it last? I will come back and update this section when the unit gives up.
In overall is a good little hoove and I would recommend it to those, who live in a flat like me, and to use the good old house hoover, have to get an extention out the window. If I would live in a house, I would only use this little hoover, if on holiday. So for construction I would give 5 stars and for performance 4 stars. Now this is because other 12V hoovers won’t get more than 2 stars from me. Thanks for reading.

Its handy for those times when you are not at home, waiting for somebody or something, and you can whip around and keep on top of the superficial detritus. The attachments are good for getting into small spaces. But overall with its lack of suck, any more stubborn dirt and a more powerful machine would be better.

The hoover is very good to have in the boot of your car. I live in a apartment top floor so I couldn’t clean my car very well. This has solved the problem. You plug it in and it gets rid of all the mess to leave the car tidy and looking good. It is surprising how much suction power it has for a small handheld device. Also it plugs straight into the car cigarette port so it never runs out of battery or charge. It has a very long lead to reach all areas of the car. I recommend this product to people as good

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo I ordered it yesterday and arrived today. I couldn’t wait to use it as we had only returned from holiday a couple of days previously so the interior was pretty grotty.
I had read some mixed reviews about its power and suction, so was eager to see if it was any good or not!
Wow. I mean Wow. Plugged it into the car started the engine, switched the Hoover on and away we went. It is great it pulled up all the dust leaves and gravel that was in the carpet, I really wish I took before and after photos! The seats again pulled all the dust out as it did with the sand in the boot.
Ok it was its first outing but if it maintains this standard of cleaning then I’m very impressed.
I would recommend paying the extra for a decent car Hoover.

For a car vacuum cleaner, this product is great. It gets the dust and mud off the carpet mats well enough and has good suction. Although, I do struggle to get the dirt trapped in the crevices of the seats. However, the design of the product makes it a bit hard to handle as you have to handle two things at a time – the main unit in one hand and the suction pipe in the other. It makes me think that a single unit design would’ve been easier to use. The cord is long enough and cleaning the filter is easy as shown in the product description.

It doesn’t compare with mains power vacuum cleaners, but if you can’t get mains power to your car, then this is the next best alternative for 12V.

It’s great enough for general every day car dirt, offering plenty of cleaning power. It has a long enough hose to reach all of the nooks and crannys in a car and is very affordable. If you use your car to carry pets, it does struggle to pick up all the embedded hairs, but gives it a good try.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPerfect for maintaing general cleanliness of seats and footwells of show room cars (for which I bought it). The suction is never going to compare with a 240v vac or a domestic Dyson, but for picking up grit and general light debris I find this unit quite capable. Unlike rechargeables you don’t have the stress of trying to do a quick clean in the 8 to 9 minutes the battery will last before needing a lengthy recharge. The power cord is long enough to reach all areas of a car and the flexible suction hose/attachments are perfect for reaching into small areas between seats and pedals etc.

This will never perform adequatelyif you need to do a full clean from scratch; it simply doesn’t have the power. However, if you need something ‘to keep on top of’ a clean car then for the price this model is perfect. I was impressed with the suction for a 12 volt plug in. It is also very light and ergonomical.

Dog hairs could be a problem, but if you do have a doggy car then you will need to spend more time with a full size Dyson; or shave the dog.

All in all I’m happy with this model for 35 and recommend it with the caveat of don’t expect it to perform like a full size vacuum cleaner.

Quick delivery. Excellent value at 27. Suction is not like a home vacuum, but is fine for a car, picked up everything in my car incl. small stones, dirt etc. 12V Plug-in means there is no loss of battery power like the cordless models, and goes on forever. Small and light. Long hose to get all around the car. Handy attachments … one to get into awkward places, another big enough to hoover up quickly … this also has a flip-out brush for seats. Long lead to get to the boot. Used it straight away, whole car done in 10 minutes. Really simple to use and empty. Fab … love it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersRead many reviews and yes it’s true, this isn’t as powerful as a mains vacuum cleaner, but why would you expect it to be for the cost, size and only 12voltit’s to clean a car without the need for the 200ft extension lead I need in my case, as I’m getting too old to faff around

For what it is, a simple cigarette lighter plug-in car vacuum cleaner, it’s a great little unit and having just used mine for the first time, I’m pretty impressed at how much muck it got off my carpets and upholsterymy car is never that dirty as I’m long since retired, my children have long since left home, I don’t have dogs to take out, or have a picnic in the car when I do the weekly shoppingbut, I do live in a woodland environment, so drag other muck into the car and every bit of it disappeared up the nozzle into the clear plastic dust bowl in a few minutes of vacuuming

It’s a good, solid, lightweight construction with a long heavy duty cable, which came out the driver’s door of my Qashqai and along the side to easily reach the bootit has a long vacuum hose, a long slim crevice tool, which has made short work of the fluff tucked right down between the front seats and centre console and another 2in1 combi nozzle tool which is wide and flat, with a flip out brush, ideal to use on the dashboard dials and switches

Oh yes, one more thing, start your engine before you use to keep constant power to the unit and not drain your battery

Will happily give this 5 stars…

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve been meaning to get a car hoover for the past 3 years. After constantly cleaning my car at petrol station and car wash hoovers – this is sooooo worth it! Price wise, them 1 for 4 minutes are a waste, invest in this and you’re sorted at any time.

Picks up all debris in the car and is more than long enough to easily navigate around the car including the boot aswell. Plugs into the cigarette lighter port and is amazing! I used to keep the car on to give it more juice whilst hoovering but honestly, its a waste with just the ignition on it works just as fine!

Also, the attachments are great for reaching all parts of the car. I personally use no attachment on the seats (to remove stuff from the seat lines), the normal rectangular one for everywhere, same attachment with the bristles for the fans and by the dashboard parts and finally the long piece to grab stuff between the seats.

Long story short – stop reading reviews and just buy one already! I spent way too long researching if its worth it; I really regret not buying one earlier!

Golden Review Award: 55 From Our UsersBought for my husband to help with his never-ending quest to completely eradicate dog-hair from the car! Of course, it doesn’t, but it makes a pretty good attempt at it and he says it’s the best car vacuum he’s ever had – well worth paying that little bit extra to what they normally cost.

I should think as long as the car is vacuumed at least once a week and the dogs aren’t over-hairy or filthy, you should be able to keep a small car fairly clean with this. Leaving it for too long with dog hair and mud and general grime caked-on will prove a bit challenging as it doesn’t have the same suction power as a household cleaner – but neither do any of them. After all, it’s only working off the car battery and you can’t expect the same suction power. I can’t vouch for cleaning up after kids and I should think a liberal application of upholstery shampoo would be the only thing to shift stains from ground in food, spilled drinks and ice-cream. General everyday crumbs from picnics should clean up easily though as it has a crevice nozzle, a wide vacuuming pipe and a drop-down dusting brush for the grilles and blowers.

If you’ve tried all else and failed and you can’t access an electric point for a domestic vacuum, give this a go. It’s twice the cost of the usual kind of car vacuum but it’s more than twice as good, so well worth the extra and if you don’t want to pack it back in the box after every use, it comes with a mesh drawstring bag to store it in, along with its bits and bats.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI finally chose this car vacuum after much research and comparing prices of different models.
Firstly – the suction is adequate for a light to moderate level of dirt. It’s not brilliant – but I wouldn’t expect Dyson-level suction from a 12V, sub-50 product.
Secondly – the attachments are useful, however I find I mainly use the narrow one – because I find that the wider one with the brush on the end doesn’t provide quite enough suction to clean my carpet mats effectively. If there were just a few crumbs etc. I’m sure this attachment would suffice, however when there is dried mud I need the narrow attachment.
Thirdly – I empty the bin after every use, which is easy enough. However, after every other use I also clean the filter, which is more fiddly.

Overall, I am pleased with the product, and is good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 39 From Our UsersThis is a great piece if kit in my opinion. Is it as powerful as a Dyson? Of course not. It’s not powered from a 240v socket. Is it a brilliant 12v vacuum for car cleaning? Yes. It packs down small into an included bag meaning I can keep it in the side pocket of the boot of my car. The hose/cylinder configuration (rather than the traditional “dustbuster” style) is really well suited to car cleaning. The two nozzles again are perfect for the car interior: One chisel-style attachment, for nooks-n-crannies and for tough spots that require more suction (smaller nozzle -> more suction); one wider attachment which is great for mats and boots. This second attachment also has a snap-out brush which converts it into one ideal for leather seats, plastics, door finishers and dashboards. And whilst it’s not as powerful as a Dyson (and thankfully I wasn’t after a device which defied physics), it is plenty powerful enough to clean a reasonably-in-need-of-a-hoover car. I clean my car interior about once every 3-4 weeks. It’s big car (an A6 estate) with quite thick pile carpets and I have two kids who like to eat in the back. This little machine brings it back to “as new condition”, in no longer than it would take with a normal vacuum cleaner, in my judgement. Hope this helps and enjoy yours!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have two kids and a wife who are still to understand that a family car is an extension of the Male personal space. Therefore cleanliness and keeping the car clean have been left to me to fit into my schedule.

I bought this item as i needed compact yet versatile vacuum which i can keep in the car (as a visual stimulus to reduce the amount of rubbish which gets thrown on the floor).

The function of the mecum is very good however when i first used it, i did what most people do and compared it to a household vacuum which is obviously more powerful. Having used it on a number of occasions now to clean anything from sand from the beach, my wife shedding her hair to mud and dirt from the countryside and i can honestly say, I am very impressed with this unit.

Yes it takes a little longer and you may have to give it an extra few strokes to clean a stubborn patch but that is something you can get used to.

    Pros

*Extra long power cord which is very handy as i can plug it into the boot and have more than enough cord left to clean the front footwell.
*Easy to clean filter and rubbish disposal with a click of a button.
*Good suction and ability to clean stubborn dirt patches.
*A number of attachments from slim to bristle brush
*Small and portable and easy storage with a bag to store it once finished cleaning
*Value for money if you have a family like me and don’t want to spend 10 a week taking it to a car wash.

    Cons
*Add on attachment could be a little thinner to allow access in-between tight areas such as seats.
*I can’t think of anything else.

Overall, this is a handy little tool and after a few uses, you will get your money back. apart from the additional tool not being slim enough, i can honestly say there is nothing negative about it and it is able to deal with most things thrown at it!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI upgraded to this one from the previous version as I was impressed by it alot. Now I’ll say one thing. I had read alot of the reviews on this product before I bought it on lightning deal for around 35. And even though there were a few mixed reviews I still went for it as I needed to vacuum my new car.

Let me set the scene first. My car was new however I’d broken some glass in my boot and pieces were lying around. Also I’d recently just gone to one of my close friend’s Iranian wedding. And after the wedding had helped him take the extras back to his house. So there was a bit of mess in the back passanger side with flower petals and some coloured powder I wasn’t sure about!

So I turned my car on and plugged in the vacuum into the 12V socket in the car. And I can say yes this isn’t the suction of a dyson – but by God my car is now clean again! The glass in the boot was no problem – sucked up all the little pieces. The dust and flower petals in the back no problems with the correct tool – you get 2 different toold to make it easy to get all those hard spaces.

Now you have to remember it will take time and technique to get it clean so don’t think it’ll take 5 mins. You have to be patient and make sure you do it properly using the correct tool. And take some time to make it the best looking floor you can. Remember car carpet already makes it difficult to suck anything up as sh*t just seems to stick to it so easily.

Overall for the price I paid there’s no way I can complain especially considering the amount of tools you get, the mesh bag to store everything in and the added convience of long cable which plugs into your car 12V socket. You have to remember you’re not paying a bomb so if you’re considering getting this for your car – then I’ll say dont hesitate and just buy it. Or if you have the money then spend 100 more to get something like a dyson with stronger suction but maybe not as much convenience. Great item with so much for the price.
