After Sheering a bolt from the car and no option but to drill it out i assumed id be in for a very long weekend, however to my delight these drills work very very well, pilot hole first with a 3mm then a 7mm befor finishing with a 9mm, after the initial pilot hole the larger one went through easy. Plenty of wd40 for a coolant and i managed the lot with a cordless drill.

These rip through steel, which is why I bought them after a YT video recommended them for drilling into thick steel. My cheapo bits just wouldn’t even dent certain steel. May as well be drilling with a hole punch, lol.
After using at low speed with lots of pressure, was able to get through 8mm steel with the 12mm bit, after making a pilot with the 4mm, switching up to 8mm before going all the way with the 12mm. Tried the 12mm off the bat for another hole and it seemed to take much longer on it’s own. I may have blunted it a bit but I was using plenty of oil. Saw bits of smoke trails from shards that were coming off as I was going though, which is always a good sign.
Time will tell how long they last, they are not as sharp as they were straight out of the box after a few uses, but then you wouldn’t expect them to be at this price. The main thing is they still get through thick steel.
Only downside in using pilot holes is that the next size drill bit up seems to not want to sit firm and it wobbles before it makes a new opening, meaning it’s hard to follow the centre of the hole if you don’t have a drill press. Which I think I seriously need.

I ordered this set as I had previously purchased a masonry drill bit set made by Bosch which was very good quality, and very durable. This set was impressive: 25pc ranging from 1 to 13mm in 0,5mm increments. Supplied in an ABS storage case that fits in the shelf or in a tool box. protecting the bits. The drill bits are sharp out of the box. I haven’t used them yet but will have confidence in using them. A value for money set and a huge step up from the cheaper multi bit Chinese sets you can buy which are flimsy and break easily. This review is based on delivery and impressions on receipt, but not on use. As I said, I will have no issues in using them. Seller was quick to dispatch; items were received promptly and with no issue.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been installing brackets within a window recess to hold conservatory blinds. I needed to drill through an old steel (or maybe iron?) lintel which was extremely tough. Two standard DeWalt HSS bits cut a shallow hole but then jammed and snapped. Next I tried a CK bit from my local store; this was stronger but blunt very quickly. Then I ordered two from Bosch – an HSS-Co (Cobalt and Steel) bit and this HSS PointTeQ bit. The HSS-Co did cut quite well but after a couple of holes, it started to blunt a little and I was running out of time and energy! So I then tried the HSS PointTeQ and it was by far the best bit – cutting well and not appearing to blunt too quickly, although I only had two more holes to drill by that point. I’ve got some more blinds to install in another window so I will definitely be buying a few more of these – at this great price, I don’t mind if I chew through 2 or 3 on one job. Definitely worth a try if you’re drilling through steel, and for this price, you really can’t go wrong.

About time bosch made a decent drill bit. These are very sharp and last a lot longer than I expected. The last time I purchased bosch the drill bits got too hot too quick and went blunt after just a few holes..

After reading some of the reviews I found it was worth a shot by buying these Bosch drill bits, I was surprised at the quality the price. I’ve been using them for just a week and the bits are are holding up to Bosch name, taking time when using on 5mm steel plate and for hardwood as well as aluminium, great product.
