I am sure the cleaning and lubrication does increase the life and the shaver does seem to work better.
I did give up using these for a few months as I ran out, but then decided to get a new pack and the razor does appear to be better and quieter.
I use it once a week, keeping the container sealed between uses and it does not evaporate as quick, hence lasts much longer.

What can I say? Does the job pretty well. Shaver looks brand new, smells great and feels clean. It could be cheaper, but this goes for anything good in life!

It’s quite rare a product exceeds my expectation but this did. Having seen many video reviews I knew it was good but I didnt realise quite how good. I have very sensitive skin and would avoid razor shaving because of this. This shaver cuts as close as a razor for me and doesn’t irritate my skin at all. Also I love the fact I can use shaving cream. I also shave my head with it. It does miss a few wierd hairs on my neck that must grow at some strange angle but I can forgive it for that
The cleaning unit was also very important to me, just press a button and I leave it to clean itself.

I have used this with both my shavers I currently alternate between : a Series 7 shaver (purchased July 2016) and my Series 9 (also purchased in July 2016, when the old Series 7 failed), so I have used these refills for 7 years now and they keep you razor head in top condition, in fact I have only replace a razor head once, which is well below what Braun recommend but they heads still cut perfectly, and yes I DO have spare heads already purchased should I need to change them, so it isn’t a matter of the money.

Some people just use the brush a few time then use the cleaner on the 3rd or 4th time, but I brush the excess off the head and shaver first, then I use the cleaner after EVERY shave, this way the cartridges will last longer too.

    Conclusion :
I have used Braun shavers for many, many years now and using the “Clean and Renew” system is far better than just brushing and washing under the tap as I did before I got the Series 7 and 9, and I was at that time having to renew the head every year as well, which was expensive (heads are going up in price all the time by the way !) it is MUCH cheaper to use the ‘Clean and Renew’ system in the long run.

I can’t recommend this system, enough and it gets 5 stars all day long from me.

Being very dissatisfied with my previous razor, I decided to splash out on an expensive and different manufacturer. Wow. Glad I did! Best shave ever in all my 70 plus years. I can sincerely recommend this razor at its full price but try to get it half price as I did.

These fit into the shaver base unit and do a good job of keeping the shaver clean and smelling new. They are easy to fit and remove.

My only gripe is that the cleaning cartridge that came with the shaver lasted longer than these replacement cartridges, so I have docked a star from the overall rating. They are just as effective at cleaning though.

It is that time of year again to buy another supply of the shaving head cleaning fluid cartridges. I have just replaced my cleaning unit with the last one from my box of 6 from last year.

Although these Braun cartridges are supposed to last one month I have found they last me almost two months.

They are well designed and the fluid cleans the shaving head unit extremely well.

Have been using these for about 3 years with my Brian shaver. Cleaning the shaver using a brush gets rid of most of the hair nut after 2 or 3 shaves and cleans I put it in the auto cleaner which brings the head back to almost a brand new look. I cartridge will last about 6 weeks and I but these when they are on offer works out about 3.50 a cartridge but I believe its worth it I have had my shaver for about 3 years and still working perfectly. I replaced the head a year ago but to be honest couldn’t tell much difference so seems to work for me.

Electric razors can never match a wet blade. With that in mind, the Braun Series 9 Pro will keep your skin smooth enough for 8-9 hours. In my opinion you’ll need a conventional blade to trim your sideburns. It takes me 10-12 minutes to have a shave and clean the bristles out of the razor. I remove the shaver head, shake it and then blow through it. Before replacing the head I use the brush to clean the top of the razor (don’t use a brush on the metal shaver head).

The 9 PRO is well made, although some plastics feel a bit cheap. Replacement shaver heads are expensive and should last for 18 months.

Don’t forget to buy an adaptor for the 2-pin plug that’s on the charging cable. I can recommend the Lencent adaptor that accepts types A, C and E/F 2-pin plugs.

    Braun Series 9 Pro: 8/10
Value for money (razor only): 7/10

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI upgraded from my new series 7 razor and to be honest regret it. They both perform really well but the 7 series looked much more sleek and modern. Also the smartcare centre for the 7 is far superior as the foils are suspended in mid air where the 9 series foils are in contact with the plastic station.
The 9 pro looks and feels very dated with its plastic silver power button and thumb rest. They have fixed the aesthetics with the even newer 9 pro+ by replacing the silver plastic with black rubber and adding a gold plated side trimmer but thats an extra 200!!!!
The 9 pro only came out 2 years ago and they really should have given it a more modern look then.
All that aside it performs exeptionaly well but then so did the much cheaper 7 series!!!
It’s also dissapointing to think you’ve splashed out all that money for the latest and greatest only to find out there’s a newer version 🙁

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was wondering why I wanted to spend this kind of cash on one of these but must say after 2 months of use, im glad I have. You come to expect this kind of quality from German engineering. Yes, it’s expensive. But believe me when I say, this thing is complex, but it provides a close and risk free shave.

The item oozes quality with the feel and rigidity of it. There are two settings for the rotor, either you can set it to click into different positions by manually adjusting it, or to be supple and move flexibly. I prefer the flex option as I use this on my scalp.

The battery life is amazing. I work away and dont even use the first bar before I return home for the weekend.

The docking station is bulky, and it isn’t fit for moving really, especially with the fluid installed as it has to be kept on a flat surface to avoid spillage. If you work away just slot it into the Dock when you return.

The docking station really is good. It works a treat to clean the razor and head without any fuss. I believe the fluid is to be changed every so often but is relatively cheap for the cartridge. It comes with a leather case, which is nice and slick.

If you spend money at the barbers every week like I did then don’t bother any more. Do yourself a favour and buy this thing. It will pay you back. So far I’ve saved 160 quid on the barbers, meaning this thing will have paid for itself soon.

I buy these in a 5+1 format so that there are always spares around and it’s also better value given that the shelf life is way beyond the time it takes me to use them all. They’re designed for use with the Braun shaver I have and they do the business as they should.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI tried making one of these last for ages by only cleaning my razor once a month. Trouble is, once it’s open, it’s volatile and so disappears all on its own. I got about three goes out of it. So now I’m trying a once a week clean to try and get more value for money. To be fair, you don’t need to use this. My razor can be charged without engaging the cleaning function and you can take the cutter block off to dust out hair manually.

The razor is nice to use first time after cleaning mostly because of the ‘clean smell’, but it doesn’t shave any better for it. I think my only complaint really is the continuing expense and the feeling I’m being ripped off in much the same way inkjet printer manufacturers do.

That said the product is ok, smells nice, and does what it claims.
