Recently, I have been trying to cook more meals at home (inflation maybe?) and we were in dire need on a thermometer to check the temperature of our meat as it was cooking. My husband, in particular, loves to eat meat and uses this little gadget on a regular basis. We have also tried it to test water temperatures and it was accurate. More recently, we used it to check the temperatures of our holiday meals: turkey, prime rib, ham, and chicken. It is especially easy to use, store, and a handy little gadget to have in your kitchen.

This is a good digital food thermometer. It works as expected. It is easy to read. I like that the probe folds up. I feel that it gives accurate readings.

I have used this thermometer to check temps on meats, making yogurt, and also for working with sugar. It works fine, and I like that it folds up and fits in my kitchen drawer easily. It’s a lot less bulky and easier to clean than the old candy thermometer.

I needed a replacement for my previous thermometer, and this one fit the bill. It’s surprisingly lightweight, and the display is easy to read. I also love the color. I haven’t been using it for very long, so I can’t speak to longevity, but it’s done well so far. I don’t currently have a way to test its accuracy, but I’ll update my review once I can test it. For now, though, I really like it!

This product works well. I compared the readings with my rectec grill readings and they were very consistent. Very user friendly. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good food thermometer.

I like this little thermometer. It does a great job. Fast, accurate measurement (compared against my two other probes). Bright orange so I can’t lose it, and the screen is easy to read. It also automatically turns off when you “stow” the probe. Cool.

This thermometer is so easy to use. It gave an almost instant reading. I’ve tried other thermometers in the past and none were a fast and accurate as this. There is a light mode to illuminate the temperature reading for night time cooking. It changes modes from Celsius to Fahrenheit. It is even sensitive enough to take my body temperature under my tongue. Great product.

My prior meat thermometer didn’t have the automatic off feature which meant that I could buy a new one for the price of new batteries. I love that this one has automatic off and all I have to do is close it to turn it off manually. You do have to use your fingernail to get between the closed probe and plastic handle to open it. I have short nails and it’s not a problem for me. It reads lightning fast and I tested it with boiling water, and it passed the accuracy test. I keep it in a drawer, so I didn’t test the magnet. The display lights up and is big enough that I can read the numbers without having to put on my reader glasses. That’s a win!

Really like how this automatically turns on when opened and off when you close it. It is backlit which is great for reading the temp and it seems to be very accurate. The orange stands out and it’s easy to find in the drawer! Haha

At first the weird way the probe locks in the closed position was a little trouble. However I’ve gotten use to it. Also it’s very light weight and the feel in the hand is not as great as other thermometers I’ve used. Though it seems well constructed, opens smoothly and joints between mated surfaces are tight.

Over all, it’s a great instant read thermometer with apparently the same accuracy as the way more expensive pen type thermometer I’ve used for years. Though I do question the usefulness of a 10th of a degree Fahrenheit. For those that use Celsius perhaps a 10th of a degree is useful.

The display sometimes is a little hard to read at angles, but it has a hold feature that solves that issue and gives you time to look at the temp. Side by side with my other thermometer it’s just as fast, 3 seconds, and gets the same reading as the other every time.

This thermometer has an easy to read display and it’s lighted, which I love. I also like that it turns off when you close it back up. It’s simple and easy to use and clean. Doesn’t make up a lot of space in the drawer. Been using it every day and no complaints.

My new digital thermometer works well. I have used it for making caramel. The sugar I use caramel oars at approx 158-160 degrees C and this thermometer gave an accurate temperature reading during the caramelization process. It’s easy for me to use, turns on when I extend the probe and the probe can make different angles for what I’m doing. The thermometer easily changes for me from degrees C to degrees F. I am happy with the thermometer and recommend it.

First impressions: I like the shiny black. Plastic covering the display. Secure in the box with a foam cutout.

Installation/setup: Ready to go, open the probe (there’s a lil plastic piece keeping it folded. Unfold it, orangish backlight comes on, readout is clear and visible.

Notes: I got this to keep with my bbq I keep in my garage.

Final thoughts: It will do. I am a little disappointed in the strength of the magnet, it holds from one point and swings. I don’t know how well it will hold as I wheel my bbq out to use it. There is a hole for use on a hanger so I may go that way.

1 star – I don’t recommend it at all, poor quality.
2 stars – I don’t recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.
3 stars – It’s passable, It has some faults but the quality-price ratio is ok.
4 stars – Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.
5 stars – Product that I totally recommend.

It will do. I am a little disappointed in the strength of the magnet, it swings.

I will admit that I am someone that is afraid of undercooked chicken so I tend to overcook it. I decided to get a food thermometer to stop the madness of dry chicken. This was a godsend! I get the perfect cook every time! I have only used it a few times so far, but I love it! I am upset I didn’t get one of these sooner. It’s really good quality too! I really like how it turns on the second you pull the thermometer stick out from the holder. It’s super easy to clean. I just use disinfecting wipes and once that dries I wash it off with water. I really love that I can cook whatever I want confidently at home. It really saves me from eating out so much.

Super simple and easy to use. This meat thermometer comes with two huge steel tweezers. Size of the thermometer is pretty substantial, larger than the width of my hand. There’s a hook end if you want to hang it and a built-in magnet. The magnet is pretty weak and just slid down my fridge when I tried to stick it on. So magnet is pretty much useless. There are two buttons, one to change the temp from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and another to toggle the backlight. The default setting for temperature is Fahrenheit. Temperature range is -58F-572F (50C-300C) If the temperature exceeds the value, the lowest or highest value will be displayed.

It automatically turns on when you pull the probe out. There is a battery icon that will indicate low battery. It uses a CR2032 coin battery (included). Unfortunately mine came at less than half battery life remaining. It automatically turns off after 10 minutes if no buttons are pressed. It’s recommended to rinse or wipe the probe in-between measuring different foods. There’s also a list of helpful hints on how to measure foods included in the manual which I found really useful.

    Simple and easy to use

Fast, Accurate, and best of all SIMPLE!
Fast temp, better than most digital thermometers. Checked it with my analog dial thermometer and it was within 4 deg. But my favorite part was how simple it was. Swing the probe out, and the unit turns itself on. Close the probe, it turns itself off. There are only two buttons, “Hold/Celsius/Fahrenheit and the display light button. Short press (2 sec.) the Hold-C/F and it will hold that reading until you short press it again. Long press (5 sec.) and you can change the readout to C or F. To save battery life, the back light comes on only for 5 sec. when the probe is opened. When you press the display light button, it turns the back light on for five seconds.
Is this unit a heavy duty item that will last for years in a restaurant ? Nope, not at all. it’s plastic.
Drop it a few times, submerge it in water, put it too close to a burner (Plastic, remember!), or step on it once and that will be it’s end. Unit is not waterproof. Wipe it down with a wet cloth, dry it and put it back in it’s box.
Can it survive in your kitchen if you use ordinary care, keep it clean and put it up when done ? Yes, absolutely! Some people will pass this down to their children. Some won’t have it for a year before an accident/carelessness puts in in the garbage.
It uses a standard coin cell battery (cr-2032), just like you car remote uses, most likely. So it’s easy to find a replacement battery. Yes, the probe can be a bit finicky to pull out. Jut push down on the tip of the probe with the tip of your finger, then pull the tip of the probe away from the body of the unit.
I cooked a large pork loin and was amazed at how fast I got a reading on this unit. Faster than my other digital unit and faster than my analog thermometer. As the loin is getting close to being near temp, I like to pull it out and check the temp, so I don’t cook it past the safe temp (We like our pork juicy, not dry) and this unit make that quick and easy!
A loin cooking tip. Brine it overnight, if you can. 3-4 hours if not. Get some Herbs du Provence. Make sure it has lots of lavender flowers in it. Wash the loin, dry it and then rub a light coating of your herbs. place in your cooking vessel, fat side up. Pre heat to 450 deg. Sear at 450 for 15 to 30 min. Reduce the heat to 375 degrees and check the internal temp every 15 min or so until the temp reaches at least 175-180 degrees at the center of the loin. Then let it rest until the meat in the center reaches 185 degrees. Good Eats!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOriginal review:
I can’t get over how fast this takes a reading. Within 4 or 5 seconds it is at a stable reading. Compared to 2 older similar food thermometers that take 30 seconds to a minute to reach a reading. I never realized just how annoying it was to wait that long until now. With this you can get a quick temp fast and get back to cooking with minimal down time. I also like how this automatically turns on/off when the probe is opened/closed.

There are a few things I don’t like though:

First, the probe is difficult to open. When closed it clicks under a tab to hold securely. But then to open it there is no good way to pull out the probe without prying it out from the pointy end by your finger nail. Others I have had used a spring loaded button to get the probe opened and ready for a reading. This just seems weird there isn’t an easier way to open it.

Second, the magnets are pretty weak. I tried sticking this to the side of my refrigerator, oven, and dish washer. On all three this wiggles back and forth and eventually slides down to the floor. I’ll be keeping it in the drawer because of it.

If it weren’t for the insanely fast reading time I don’t think I’d keep using this due to the opening issue. The speed outweighs the easy of use factor for me in this case.

    Update:
One negative I had for this was how it was difficult to open. The clip/nub holds the probe tip too tightly in the closed position. Didn’t want my hands/finger nails all over the probe tip to open it just before sticking in my food. I wash my hands, but still gross. Was also afraid of getting poked by it since you had to open it right from the pokey part. I used a pair of scissors and trimmed that clip/nub piece off. Then just scraped them back and forth to file that clip off so it doesn’t grab the end of the probe. Now this thing is great! I can open it by pulling on the other end from the pokey part keeping my fingers off the tip. The probe has quite a bit of resistance when opening so its not like it will fall open on its own without the clip.
