I’m quite a technical person as I build my own PCs, but this was the first time I took it upon myself to my fix my son’s iPhone. I was replacing a battery but unfortunately I ended up cracking the screen whilst prising it open (it was badly installed from a previous repair in a shop). By following videos on YouTube I managed to get the screen installed.
The tools supplied with the screen were good but the screwdrivers were not very magnetic, which is important when dealing with such tiny parts.
Having done the repair myself, I took time to take care and could see how the previous shop repair had left so much excess glue . I cleaned the glue off with an ear bud sprayed with WD-40, that worked very well!
After attaching the screen connectors and testing everything it seems to work very well.
All in all these repairs have cost me far less than a shop would take and I think I did a better job. But have to warn people that this is extremely intricate work so only take it on if you have a steady hand!
