Good for the price, although only used once so fa
Put the strimmer together and it worked like a charm. Wasn’t happy with the strimmer cable put on it, but when I did get other strimmer cable, and it worked even better. As for long term? Not sure as yet.
Quality piece of kit!
Bought this to upgrade my old version and as to be expected it’s a fantastic tool to have! Feels slightly more unbalanced that it’s older brother but will get the feel for it eventually

Taming the Toughest Overgrowth
The Mountfield MB33D Brushcutter has become an indispensable tool in my quest to conquer the toughest overgrowth in my yard. As a homeowner with a large garden, I needed a reliable and powerful brushcutter to tackle dense vegetation and unruly weeds, and this machine has surpassed my expectations.
The first thing that impressed me about the MB33D is its robust build quality. The durable construction and sturdy components give me confidence that this brushcutter can withstand the rigors of demanding tasks. Its ergonomic design and comfortable grip allow for extended use without straining my arms or causing fatigue, ensuring a comfortable and efficient cutting experience.
Equipped with a powerful 33cc 2-stroke engine, the MB33D delivers exceptional performance. It effortlessly cuts through thick grass, dense brush, and even small saplings with ease. The brushcutter’s cutting width and adjustable cutting height allow me to tackle a variety of terrains and vegetation types, making it a versatile tool for all my outdoor maintenance needs.
One of the standout features of the MB33D is its easy-start system, which eliminates the hassle of struggling to get the engine running. With just a few pulls, the engine reliably starts up, saving valuable time and frustration. The anti-vibration system further enhances the user experience, minimizing vibrations and reducing operator fatigue during prolonged use.
The MB33D’s dual-line bump feed head makes line replacement quick and convenient. Whenever the line wears down, a simple tap on the ground releases more line, ensuring uninterrupted cutting. I appreciate the efficiency and ease of this system, as it keeps me focused on the task at hand without unnecessary interruptions.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the safety features incorporated into the design. The brushcutter comes with a shoulder harness, which distributes the weight and provides added stability during operation. The guard and safety trigger offer protection from flying debris and accidental starts, providing peace of mind while working in challenging environments.
Maintenance of the MB33D is straightforward, thanks to its user-friendly design. Accessing and cleaning the air filter, refueling, and performing routine maintenance tasks are hassle-free, allowing me to keep the brushcutter in optimal condition without extensive effort.
In conclusion, the Mountfield MB33D Brushcutter is a powerful and reliable tool that effortlessly tackles overgrowth and provides a professional finish to any outdoor space. After waiting a few weeks for this to arrive, this brush cutter came in a huge, damaged box which was a lot bigger than I was expecting. The reason for this was that the brush cutter was already full length and didn’t come in separate parts as I would expect.
When removing from the box, there was a lot of pieces which seemed quite daunting as well as an instruction book which was thicker than some actual books I have read. Luckily most of the instructions were just the same in different languages however they were quite difficult to follow.
Most of the assembly instructions were just pictures and it was quite confusing where to start. Once you get started however, most of the assembly was pretty straight forward except for a few unexpected difficulties along the way.
Once we had it up and running, you can tell that it is very good quality. All the pieces are made a strong, durable materials and can easily support the weight of the machine as well as the added stress from swinging it and cutting hard objects.
So far, I have mainly used the spool attachment which does a great job for my needs. Pressing the trigger on the handle causes the spool to start spinning at an increasing speed. Once it is going full speed, it will cut through pretty much anything. On grass, you just move the cutter down and the grass seems to suddenly disappear with no effort at all.
If you need more spool, you just simply press down on the ground whilst it is spinning and it will release more spool and the blade that is integrated onto the guard will cut off the old piece which makes it super simple.
If you are looking for a high end brush cutter, this is definitely a good option.
Unbeatable
This brushcutter is unbeatable because of its high quality and never letting down performance.
It came in tall box and some assembly was required, carefully follow the instruction not to miss anything.
Husband took his time to investigate this new toy. He already has electric grass cutter. He never before had petrol brushcutter, it’s something more ambitious and more powerful. It requires special mixture to run. Petrol with oil in specific proportions so like that machine will work smoother for many years to come.
The two types of blades surely will be used, as we have grass in garden and hedge on one side and some bush from neighbours side to maintain too.
I didn’t try it myself as I’m scared of this type of machinery but husband used it and he said that it’s much more powerful than his old, smaller, electric machine and surely it’s more heavy too. Thankfully the harness takes off some weight from his arms (putting it on his back) but still it’s tireing job.
I’m not surprised why it costs so much, its worth every penny. It cuts grass and bushes faster, more effectively.
Highly recommended
High End, Well Made
What a great bit of kit. Seriously. Proper full sized strimmer with a well sized powerful engine. Best of all being Hyundai it is well made with an engine that actually works. From the get go it was easy to start time and time again with no real effort. Prime it and one pull and off it goes.
Weight is substantial but it is well supported on a shoulder harness. Which to be honest takes a bit of time to get set right especially if you are not six foot tall as it has to be cinched quite high to ensure you get the correct working angle.
Vibration is not excessive. I mention this as the blurb states that it’s anti-vibration which for the most part it is. I Cleared about 100m of overgrown area and my hands were tingle free. I knew I’d used it of course given the weight, but overall not too bad. Not being bigoted I would say that a small lady would have a tough time with this though.
Overall this is a total winner. Great product – when I bought it anyway.
Very effective, professional quality, heavy after long use
Upon opening this we realised this is quite professional quality. It’s well made, it took us a good 45 mins to assemble and it is heavy. It comes with the body suit that holds it on your body and that helps distribute the weight across. The handlebar that allows you to hold it using both hands also helps with weight management. You’ll still feel it heavy after about 15 minutes of using.
Operation is cordless using petrol and oil instead which you need to add yourself. It has two blades, one for grass/weeds and one for bushes. They are quite scary to use. There’s a plastic cover for the blades but it provides protection towards flying bushes rather than the blades so you need to be careful when using. It’s loud as expected but it does a brilliant job. It’s very powerful and cuts through anything really.
I’ll be using this for years on my garden and my allotment so I’m quite happy and I certainly recommend it.
Brilliant performance. Perfect.
Mountfield have always produced some of the best and most popular lawnmowers. I am happy to say this high performance brush-cutter/strimmer is as good as the mowers they produce. Although you have to do some assembling, it is relatively easy to put together, out of the box, using the tools provided.
Once assembled, and with some two-stroke petrol fuel put into the tank, I found it took about 6 or 7 pulls of the starter cord before it fired into life for the first time. Of course, the petrol needed time to pass through the fuel pump and reach the carburetor, so no problem. I have used the strimmer on several occasions since receiving it, and have found that the brush-cutter will start immediately on the first pull of the starter cord, every time without fail, even when cold and with the choke lever on, or when it has run for some time and the engine is still warm. So, starting is brilliant and problem free. There is a measuring container provided to mix the required proportions of oil and petrol. I filled the spare can up with two stroke petrol, by mixing 125mm of 2-stroke oil to 5 litres petrol. That amount should last all summer.
The strimming cord is easy to load and reload, and I followed the instructions in the booklet, which were well written and simple to understand. Also provided is a metal cutting blade which is also easy to load.
The strimming chord is suitable for cutting and pulverizing all normal density of vegetation, and one can work rhythmically with the handlebars to clear a large area of weeds and other growth in a short time. Fitting the blade… I found the specialist brush cutting blade provided just rips through tough brambles and other dense vegetation with ease… impressive, but a word of caution, do wear sensible PPE as the brambles and vegetation do fly about quite randomly, including any small stones which may happen to get hit by the blade. The blade is actually shielded by a metal guard, so using the machine is not dangerous.
This Mountfield brush cutter is quite heavy to handle, at 8.6 Kg, but you feel the weight only when placing into, or removing it from, the shed, but I found it is surprisingly light in the hands and arms when in use, especially with the harness in place. Used as a strimmer, I find the Mountfield to be less strain on my back than the old strimmer I used to own in the past, even though it is heavier, because I found I no longer need to bend. The ergometric balance of the machine takes away all or most of the strain. The design of the Brush cutter is therefore excellently balanced.
Although good for amateur use, in my opinion this brush-cutter is perfect also for professional use. I found the sheer power, the ease of handling, reliability, performance, and well thought-out design, makes this Mountfield brush cutter ideal.
Mountfield is a well known name and well established for good reason. The advantage of buying compared to a Chinese clone/no name brand is that you can be sure in 10 years time you will be able to buy parts for it easily. Sometimes it’s best to look at these as a long term investment and certainly no good buying the cheapest you can if you are going to depend on its operation. The Mountfield comes boxed with the handlebar assembly I mounted but cables connected. Materials used are of good quality as is the engine. Easy to use and control with a powerful engine making short work of everything. The main shaft is one complete assembly so doesn’t break down shorter for storage and in the box you get both the cutter blade and nylon strimmer line so both covered. Overall a nice looking and running machine
