I purchased this tool box to install a LiFePO4 battery inside from RedOdo (the 300Ah model). I saw another party had built a custom battery inside this waterproof case so I thought I’d give it a try with an off-the-shelf model. Unfortunately, despite proper measurements before ordering, I found the case has a set of plastic supports on the inside which diminish the useful size by a couple cm (width-wise); and I decided it wasn’t worth the effort to cut them. In the end, it didn’t matter as I installed the battery in another compartment of my boat and subsequently gave the case away (I left it in front of a fishing boat).

Really big robust toolbox, I’m not small and I can quite happily stand on it, closes very firmly and the rubber seal makes me think it will be useful in wet conditions. The only thing I don’t like is the tray which could sit in the top in a more obvious and secure fashion but that’s a minor gripe for what is a decent toolbox

After a prolonged period of faultless service from Amazon I call into question the choice of using a French based third party courier who were wholly lamentable. The first attempt at my delivery failed, the second attempt was late and during this time I apparently had a sex change operation where I went from being John to Emma? Throughout this I was repeatedly lied to as indeed were Amazon even to the point where the corrective phone call I was supposed to receive never actually happened .
Right that’s got that off my chest now on with the toolbox. It’s cavernous at 28 inches in length which is particularly useful for storing larger hand tools such as saws, extended drill bits and claw hammers. The square based design not only provides strength but also assists in being able to store your heavier tools at the bottom as there is very little taper so the actual footprint of the box remains large. I weigh approximately 80kg and I sat on it, stood on it and hopped from foot to foot on it with no issues. I personally like the two thirds length tote box as it allows more flexibility. You can easily store deeper objects like power sanders etc.
I have yet to tow it behind a boat on a lake to see if it’s waterproof because I’ve been busy , however I have no doubt that the seal works as effectively as stated. The metal clasps do have a fractional amount of side to side play in them and one of mine needed a little attention with a pair of long nosed pliers but all is fine now. The handle, hinges and general construction all seem to be of a reasonable standard and should last well if not abused .
The reason that I have given the five stars is there is nothing better at this price point and at every stage of my problematic delivery Amazon provided excellent customer service and support otherwise I would probably still be waiting now.

It’s huge, and that is a good thing. The tool tray is perfect for selecting tools and taking them to any job. There are no fiddly top pockets, just all dedicated space.

No strange smells from the plastic and from a week of use appears to be strong and durable for my use.

Metal clasps are tight with gives confidence this would be water tight if I needed it to be.

Highly recommended as a master storage tool box.

Great for storing longer or larger tools like saws etc.. A strong sturdy box. Lid clips also have strong springs,so cou be a challenge for someone with arthritic fingers.

Deep and wide to store everything from my saw to selection of hand tools. I like thatbit has a rubber seal around the edge to keep out water although I haven’t tested to see if this actually works. Great sturdy latches which can be locked. Lid has a groove to hold and cut items on top including measurements printed. Seems durable and although I think you could sit or stand on top I don’t think it’s really sturdy enough to take too much weight. Handle seems strong and thick enough to deal with heavier tools. I’ve managed to pack away the majority of mynmostbuseful and frequent tools and like the organising layer that sits in middle which can be moved. Overall great tool box but not sure great value for money in comparison to other toolbox and providers so loses a start. Otherwise quite pleased just missing a drawer to tuck away loose items.

Make sure you get this on sale – don’t pay more than 35 for it, as that is what I would suggest it is worth. I purchased it a few years ago and it has served me pretty well, with me only having to replace it when the catches finally gave up. That is my only gripe with this toolbox — over time, the catches can become harder and harder to close, which can be a bit annoying. But, as far as the actual sturdiness of the box goes, it is pretty good and it’s pretty large. Overall, I would certainly recommend it for under 35 🙂

so I was looking at robust hard plastic camera cases so I could pop the gear in the back of the car and it would not get damaged but they are 170 + so I brought this .. robust water proof ( till I drilled holes in it ) .. decent size . I have brought some tie down loops which I have bolted on and some grey foam for the inside .. fraction of the cost and just ideal for what I need
Only down side which I assume with ease up , the water proof seal is a bit of a pain , I need to slam the lid down before I can dog the catches , shutting it normally means the catch is really difficult to dog down .

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersLove it. Wanted a big toolbox for all my cordless kit. I might have had a miss spent youth playing Tetris, but it paying off with how much stuff I have in the trusty Stanley toolbox. I am able to fit a circular saw, jigsaw, drill driver, SDS drill, impact driver, grinder, multitool, orbital sander, battery charger, 4x 2ah batteries, 4x 4ah batteries and a multitude of drill bits and sanding and grinder disks.

Truthfully when it is that full I can hardly pick it up, but it’s brilliant just to lift it into the boot of my car and knowing I have everything in it to complete any DIY job that I need to.

Even with the toolbox do full, the handle and clasps do not feel like they are about to give way, and the box is robust enough to feel confident when cutting timber on the groove on the top.

Personally I don’t use the insert tray as with all the tools in there is not the space, but I am very happy with the tool box and even debating getting another in the same line but slightly smaller for my hand tools.

Overall it’s a really good, solid toolbox.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI swear by these tool boxes. I would not say they are the best, or the most functional for organising your stuff, but they are incredibly substantial for the money. If you are looking for a cost effective way to store and organise your tools, in watertight containers, then you cant go wrong.
The 28inch model is huge. I dont have a tool longer than the box. And its spacious enough to not feel like you need to cram everything in every box. FYI if you filled one of these with JUST heavy tools like hammers and boxes of screws/nails, it would probably be too heavy to lift (its THAT spacious)

Like I said, these arent the “best” but they ARE the best bang for your buck that I could find. I just 6 of these, so for just over 150, I can now store all of my tools, and have enough space for materials, scrap, glues and solvents etc. 150quid and Ive organised the lot.
These are going to get the job done.

One thing to note: make sure the lid is precisely aligned before shutting the closure. Just saying
