This is my first Force FX Lightsaber, it’s based on Obi-Wan’s saber as it was in the recent TV series so it’s presented with some fairly nice paintwork to make it appear a bit weathered and worn.

What you get in the box is a saber hilt (requires 3xAA batteries, you’ll need a small Phillips screwdriver to open and seal the battery cylinder), a stand, an LED blade and two display emitters – one for display with a screen accurate thin neck, the other for use with the LED blade.

The box was shipped “as is” with postage labelling stuck straight to it, so if you were hoping to preserve it as a collectible with its packaging, you’re out of luck. As it happens, the absence of a permanent box you can safely store it in puts it a step behind the Legacy sabers sold by Galaxy’s Edge, which is a shame because in most other ways this is a better product.

The blade takes a minute to fit – you have to unscrew the emitter piece from the hilt, slot in your blade with its bayonet fitting (with Obi-Wan Kenobi marked on its base, in case you own more than one saber and get your blades mixed up), then slide the blade emitter down from over the top of the blade and screw it on like a collar. It’s fairly stable and doesn’t seem to wobble.

The saber itself activates cleanly with a definite blade effect that extends smartly up the blade, the sounds are satisfying without being too loud, be aware there’s no volume control. The blade is bright and a nice colour, not washed out, and it seems to be fairly close to screen accurate.

Pro’s – Nice when it’s in your hands, colour, sound, appearance, it’s nice. It sits on its display stand looking good too.

Con’s – No permanent display or storage box, shipped in its own box. Nowhere to store the second emitter when it’s on display. It’s heavy. No interchangeable blades, you have to buy the saber hilt and blade all as one package – if you collect you’ll fill your room with blades very fast. Brass coloured section is painted, it really needed to be actual metal. The stand lifts the saber way off the desktop, it could have been lower like the Galaxy’s Edge stands – although it’s fairly stable and shouldn’t tip easily.

Is it worth the price…? You’re paying a premium for it being branded, sold in the UK with its normal markup for that privilege, and in the US you could get a Galaxy’s Edge saber cheaper. But the FX is a nicer piece. Hard to decide.

Est solide mais je ne conseille pas de se battre avec deux de ces sabres ahah
On peut laisser ou non la lame via un embout la supportant, c’est le seul petit dfaut, il y a toujours une pice au minimum stocker mais cela vaut le coup pour la collection !
