I’ve been using regular knife sharpeners for years and I found they just didn’t quite get the clean sharp edge I was looking for, so I gave this a try and I’m glad I did, once you get into the process you find your rhythm and then your knives come out with beautiful clean and very sharp edges, I’m never going back, highly recommend.

I have a heavy chef’s knife for general kitchen duty including dicing meat plus a few smaller knives for peeling, dicing and cutting small jobs. I’ve bought several electric sharpening machines and a diamond faced sharpening steel over the past few years. They’ve done the job but none of them get a blade quite as sharp as I would really like. In the past few months I also bought a chinese style cleaver and a filleting knife, both of which were razor sharp when purchased but I don’t trust any of my electric sharpeners to bring the blades back as new.

I decided a whetstone would be the best bet. so having read the various reviews here and on YouTube, got the impression they mostly work the same and that a 1000/6000 grit is the best mix of coarseness. The main decider for me would the the price and mostly positive reviews from a lot of verified buyers.

This product is sold at an attractive price and has a fairly high feedback score but one thing that almost deterred me is there are a number of buyers reviews where the people complained about the length of time it takes to sharpen a blade. I took the chance and ordered anyway. I soaked the stone as instructed, fitted the plastic guide before use just to see what angle it sets but it’s just the logical one so I discarded it and don’t see any future use for it. I must say I’m baffled as to why it’s taking some people so long. I didn’t actually time it but my stainless steel cleaver was razor sharp after at most a few minutes just using the 1000 grit side. I alternated sides every 20 seconds or so, and moved the blade across the stone in a circular motion at the correct angle with just a small amount of downward pressure. It couldn’t be easier to master.

I also did my heavy chef’s knife and that too came out perfectly in a very short time, so as far as I’m concerned the stone is an extremely easy and efficient method of sharpening kitchen tools. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

The owner must be proud of the product as it come with a card, nice a personal touch! I followed the instruction included while trying to sharpen my good quality knife using the 2 sides of the stone, coarser followed by the finer side, upon soaking it in water until no air bubbles were seen rising from the stone and using the angle guide to create the sharpness indicating edge that is described in the instruction booklet. Somehow my knife has refuse to go back to the very high level of sharpness that it possessed when I first bought it, still sharp enough for daily use! May have to consult a Samurai master sword maker for the purpose!!

Got this after watching a bunch of YouTube videos about sharpening knives. This is harder than it looks and it can get really messy with the water that gets murky after sharpening going everywhere. Also this one is 1000/6000 so it takes a while to sharpen the knife…I’m not talking 5 – 10 minutes but more like 25 – 30. I think I need a 400/1000 also to do the initial bit a bit quicker and then to use this one to fine sharpen/polish the knives. But other than that it is a nice looking product that takes a lot of patience to use.

This is a nice kit and the sellers are really helpful. The finish you get can be really good but with the coarsest side being 1000 it takes a while. I would also be a bit wary of the angle guide as it can leave a slight mark on your knife if you slide it on and off. However, the stone seem good quality and the flattening stone and holder are really useful. Overall a good kit to get. I would buy this again.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs a first time user of whetstones my fears were using the wrong angles or not using enough water, but the tools they give you allow for precise strokes on your blade, plus the manual that comes with it was extremely helpful; the seller was also tremendously pleasant. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to start using whetstones!

Golden Review Award: 40 From Our UsersI run a restaurant and give the best food to our customers. In our kitchen, chefs try different dishes by decorating the plates with vegetables. To decorate the plates with vegetables, they cut the vegetables in different shapes and designs for which they want their knives very sharp. For their needs, I bought this CWINDY Whetstone Sharpening Stone Kit. It is small in shape and light in weight. The performance is good. It can also sharpen our chopping knives, Chef knives, scissors and outdoor axes. Worthy product for the money invested. It is preferable to give a gift to your loved one or other family members.

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersI have had a few whetstones in my life and normally pay 80 upwards. While their is a difference between this and a Whetstone twice its price it still preforms well and the end finish of my knifes are verry good.

    It’s great value for money.

Word of warning if you use the guide assist clip it comes with, place a bit of cloth between the blade and the clip as it can leave a mark on the blade. I was able to polish it out but not ideal.

Sumery is it’s the best Whetstone I have found under 40

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersI have been sick of buying knives for them only to become blunt after a few months. This sharpening stone is what every kitchen needs if you want to have razor sharp knives that slice through vegetables and meat like butter. If your knives are really blunt you will need to use both sides of the stone (about 30 mins per knife), but if you maintain your knives well, you will only need to use the 6000 side of the stone every few months or so.
