IMPORTANT Q&A:

Q1: How to install a paper shredder? Why is it not working after installation?

A1: Please ensure that the paper shredder has been installed correctly. Please refer to the installation steps in the installation video on the webpage.

Q2: Why is the number of sheets that can be shredded lower than the maximum number of sheets described?

A2: Please check if the paper is damp, contains plastic or too thick, if so, please let the paper dry before shredding, or remove the plastic part, or reduce shredding sheets per pass. To extend the lifetime of the paper shredder, please don’t shred more than 15 sheets in one time.

Q3: The shredder is broken, but the return window is closed. What should I do?

A3: bonsaii provides a 2-year service. No matter whether the return window is closed or not, we will provide you with the best solution.

I do shredding in irregular bursts, perhaps a few months apart. My ‘old’ shedder, nominally shredded 11 sheets. The slot was longer than the narrow edge side of A4 and allowed angled entry which led to creasing and serious jamming. Quick to overheat and messy to empty. (Fellowes type still available)
When I saw the Bonsaii box I thought the shredder would be smaller the advertised. It is not. Brilliant packaging and instructions to assemble. It is extremely quick to shred, quiet, well built, easy to move on casters, takes 12 sheets A4, not tried more, and I think would prevent too thick paper entry, the slot just takes A4 so no risk of edge folding, bin level easy to see , emptied prior to being full and not a single shred escaped, auto starts and stops with confidence. placed conveniently under a table and moved out for use.
Rarely have I been so pleased with a purchase. Time will tell if it is reliable. A two year guarantee should fix that should it fail.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a fantastic shredder!!! I have used this for over the 30 minutes and it still hasn’t had to cool down. No sign of overheating at all. It’s a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. This is the best home shredder in my opinion. Easy to assemble and empty. Absolutely superb!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHaving bought a number of shredders (and worn them out) over the years, we decided it was time to upgrade to something a bit more robust.
This one is very quiet in operation, and doesn’t sound like it’s struggling at all.
We like the fact that it has a cooling fan, and when that starts cutting in, we reckon it’s time to give it a rest for a bit. We don’t want to ruin this one!
We also love the pull-out bin for the shreddings. No more removing the shredder head like on our old model and dropping dust and confetti all over the carpet!
As other reviewers have commented, it’s a good idea to empty the bin once it’s half full, or you can start to get an overflow of shreddings falling into the base of the unit and onto the floor.

This is an excellent shredder, I had a garage full of historic files and decided it was time to clear it.. the old shredder I had overheated after a files, was slow and eventually packed in.
Brought this and it is a mini beast, flies through the shredding, An example emptied a four draw filing cabinet, full of files packed with A4 paper thick and thin paper clips plastic folder etc. It did not stop.. no overheating eat through the lot.. Very impressed

This is a good machine. Does a few sheets at a time although I wouldnt risk doing the maximum it says. Its fairly noisy and the noise does carry on for a few seconds after you have finished unless you turn it straight off. Drawer pulls out for easy emptying, just make sure you push it it at the bottom of the drawer or the light will flash. I have a bag in mine to catch the bits so not sure if this is why put pushing it at the bottom seems to fix it bette

I am a private user but do a significant amount of voluntary work for charities and need to destroy names, addresses, etc.
Previous shredder came to bits internally and screws dropped in the cutters. Not worth repairing. This one seems to do what is on the tin. and has not jammed at all in the few weeks I have had it. Slightly noisier than I might have wished for but not a bog issue. Removable bin is good – n lifting off of cutter head with bits dropping everywhere, Provided it is emptied before full it can be emptied with no mess.
Not top rate security size pieces, but adequate. Feed slot not as wide as some a 10 – 20 mm more would have been better.
    Generally very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis Bonsaii C169-B is an excellent shredder. It’s very easy to use. I know that the perception of noise is a very subjective matter but, to my ears at least, this shredder is not particularly noisy.

It can handle it’s stated maximum capacity of 14 sheets without difficulty. However, the advice in the manual is to shred no more than 70% of its maximum in order to maintain its vitality and effectiveness. The maximum amount of 14 sheets should be used only occasionally. Personally, I shred only 8 or 9 sheets at a time.

There is no “bin full” indicator on this shredder, but it’s easy to determine when the bin needs emptying due to the large window at the front. My previous shredder (AmazonBasics 12-Sheet micro-cut) had an LED that lit up when it thought that the bin was full. When this happened, the shredder would stop working. Unfortunately, this shredder developed a fault and thought that the bin was full even though it was completely empty. This rendered the shredder completely useless. No such problem occurs with the C169-B. The pull-out bin itself is very easy to remove (and replace) in order to empty its contents.

This machine has a patented cooling system — after several passes, the cooling fan kicks in. It’s very reassuring to know that the machine is being cooled in this way. I normally wait until the fan stops whirring (usually for about a minute) before continuing with the shredding (but, of course, this is not really necessary — clearly, you can continue without stopping for about 30 minutes).

It is recommended to oil the cutting system on a regular basis in order to ensure the longevity of the shredder. The advice in the manual is to oil the cutters every 5th or 6th time the bin is emptied, but I prefer to oil the cutters every time I empty the bin. I use Fellowes Performance Oil.

This is a superb shredder and I highly recommend it.

I bought this Shredder in Feb 21 and as I was having a clear out of the office gave it quite intensive use for several weeks. I then didn’t use it for about 3 weeks and when I went to switch it on it blew the 3 amp fuse in the plug. I replaced the fuse but the device still would not power up. I contacted Bonsaii via email and they were very quick to respond. We exchanged a number of emails and pictures and then they offered to send me a brand new unit and didn’t want the old one returned. New unit arrived within a day and I am crossing my fingers that it proves to be longer lasting than the first one. However I can’t fault the Bonsaii aftercare service.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have only just bought this so I cannot comment on longevity.

Previously, I had one of those basic cross cut machines that goes for 3 minutes then stops for 30 minutes. In fact, it doesn’t even do that and as we are moving house, and have vast amounts of paperwork to shred securely, it was driving me balmy! We would never have got through it all prior to the move.

This machine is brilliant – it seems to go for longer than 30 minutes actually and you really can get through a lot of paper. I did find that I couldn’t feed 14 sheets at a time, though this may have been because a lot of the paper had been in the garage and may have attracted moisture, making it thicker.

Although the idea of a pull out drawer appealed to me as being better than having to take the machine off the top, I found that the drawer is sometimes difficult to get in or out. It also feels a bit flimsy, and it bends a bit, so I hope it will last a long time.

It is a cross-shredder, actually not as secure as the previous cheap machine, as it only shreds to a P3 (is it?) and not a P4 but it seems adequate and perfectly secure for me. I think someone would have just as much trouble trying to piece documents together from the shreds as with the P4!!

The price was far more than I would have considered paying previously, but it is worth it if you have a lot of shredding to do.

Overall I am very pleased with the machine and I think it is worth the price. It works so much better than anything I’ve had before.

From the front the “window” outline is badly finished. It looks like plastic covering is over the outline, it looks quite shabby and does not do anything for the look of the machine in fact it lets it’s sleek look down.
This is not as quiet as I expected but on the good side it works very efficiently.
As a bonus you get an extra 6 months in your warranty if you register online, which is a bonus.
I just wanted a shredder that works and I’ve only had it less than a week so it’s bound to be efficient, come back snd ask me after 9 months it may or may no be a different story.

I’ve recently been having a bit of a clear out and finally got around to shredding the last 15 years of un-needed bank statements and other redundant paperwork! I had a cheap shredder that would overheat after a few mins which that I wouldn’t effectively be able to shred-as-I-sort as it would stop working after a relatively small batch of shredding. It also couldn’t handle more than a few sheets at a time, which meant removing everything from envelopes. So I decided to upgrade.

After checking around a bit, I came across this shredder which had the right balance of size, cost and shredding time. I’ve been delighted with it! It fits neatly under my desk without taking up too much room and, so far, hasn’t overheated while I’ve been doing my sorting, though the fan has kicked in (which is a good thing)! Very glad I bought it! It’s not the quietest, but not really that loud as shredders go and it munches through envelopes with old bills with relative ease so it suits me down to the ground.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI’ve gone through quite a few sub 50 paper shredders over the years. With identity theft at high levels, shredding your personal papers is more important than ever. A letter with your name and address on it often have reference codes on them and this is like gold to identity thieves.

Although I shred all correspondence as a matter of course, I do have a tendency to let them pile up and then do a mass shredding. Cheap shredders don’t like this. A lot of them only have a 5-minute run time before they need to cool down. This can be so frustrating when you just want to get the job done.

This one from Bonsaii is a little bit more expensive but it claims a 30-minute run time. To be honest I was sceptical. So, I was presently surprised to see that the claimed run time was actually an understatement. I used it for well over an hour and shredded five carrier bags stuffed with correspondence without the unit overheating.

The reason it has such a long run time is that it incorporates a cooling fan at the rear of the unit. A simple solution to getting rid of excess heat. The claimed 14-sheet capacity is pretty accurate depending on the thickness of the paper. It’s very rare to hear the motor struggling even a little bit. It’s a hungry little monster. It also claims to take staples and paper-clips. To be honest, I haven’t tried any paper-clips but I have shredded a lot of stapled documents. This saves a lot of time.

Even after shredding five bags of correspondence, I have yet to get a paper jam. It has the usual reverse mode if you do get one but I haven’t needed it. The main thing is to keep an eye on the storage bin and empty it before it gets too full. It’s a pull-out bin which makes emptying a breeze. Our local council lets you put shredded paper in the garden waste bin which is great. I have no concerns about anyone being able to piece together the shredded paper. I would say it’s on the verge of impossibility.

Overall, it’s worth paying the little extra for this shredder. Hope that helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars It’s worth paying the little extra for this shredder.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersPros.
Easily keeps going for half an hour at a time.
    Clean cross shredding.
Can manage 14 sheets at a time though I wouldn’t recommend doing this constantly.
Has a fan to slow down overheating.
    Compact size.
    Quieter than my previous shredder.

    Cons
Does not sense when basket is full (has a sensor but doesn’t work). Kept shredding until it absolutely could not force any more in at which point there was a noise and a little smoke. Messy and tricky to empty when so full, and had to spend a while removing the paper crushed up into the blades. However worked fine again once cleaned and oiled and hav had no further problems now that I keep an eye on how full it is getting.
Does fill quite quickly due to compact size.
Bin is tricky to pull out.
Does require oiling every 3-4 emptyings.

    Overall.
Would recommend this shredder. Does the job well so long as care is taken not to overfill. Less noise, less of a struggle, and faster than smaller shredders I have had in the past, so definitely worth the extra money. Pleased with the purchase

Golden Review Award: 115 From Our UsersI have owned three different shredders now incuding this one, a cheaper 50 shredder, one costing 180 and this one which I paid 110.00 for and this is probably the best value for money one that I have owned. Yes you get what you pay for but surely there has to be a cut off point, a shredder costing over 100 and a shredder costing over 200 they both shred paper so you should ask what extra are you getting for your money?

There is nothing I don’t like about this shredder but here are a couple of important things I do like about it. First and most importantly, the enclosed bin or paper collection area. Some shredders have wired mesh style containers, these are awful as you will get paper ‘dust’ the bin on this Bonsaii shredder is totally enclosed, no dust escapes, ideal for a home office enviroment.

Secondly the container size, believe me size does matter when it comes to a shredder, this at 17 litres this is a perfect size, you won’t find yourself having to empty it as often and although it might sound a minor thing now it is so annoying when a shredder needs continuously emptying.

Some cheaper shredders are literally a basket or bucket with a shredder unit situated on top, this isn’t, it is a proper unit with a bucket that slots in and out of a casing structure with ease. The kind that have units sitting on top of a basket or bucket are messy when it comes to emptying, really avoid those if you can.

The Bonsaii Evershed states it will shred 14 sheets at a time, this is probably true if you have low GSM paper but I doubt it would shred 14 sheets of 120gsm at a time. I put through around 6-8 sheets and it eats them with ease. Whilst it might not seem that important having shredders that says it will shred less please remember the ability to shred less at a time will mean a lesser strength motor

If you need a very good home office shredder then this fits the bill perfectly, pay much less and you won’t get the important features like enclosed large capacity bucket and the ability to shred 14 sheets at a time, pay much more and ask yourself what extra are you getting, if you want a paper shredder that shreds paper and works why spend much more.
