Tougher than Tough

Maybe we’re control-freaks, but we actually test our toys against tougher standards than the law demands. To be exact, we test our toys up to 25% more than the law demands.

For example, when it comes to mechanical safety assessments we use greater heights when carrying out drop tests and use greater pressure than required when performing load tests.

Even our chemical testing goes beyond European safety standards!

It grows on trees

All of the wood used to make our toys are made from FSC certified sources. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is a non-profit organisation that safeguards, monitors and encourages sustainable forest management.

This basically means that all the wood we use at BRIO is traceable and that it originates from responsibly managed forests. It ensures that the raw materials do not come from illegal logging sources.

Well built and quality material as you would expect from this manufacturer (The wooden train set we bought for our son 30 years ago is still is in great condition and used regularly).

This new building set keeps our 6 year old grandson amused for hours. Would say he is the perfect age for this product. Younger children may struggle putting the pieces together and taking them apart as they are fairly tight fitting.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBut too hard for my 4.5 year old, I have to help him. So I would say it’s for older kids.. plus there aren’t enough instructions .. I’m not that creative and my 5 year old
Is just starting with these toys so definitely need more instructions/ideas of what to build

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy 4 year old has really enjoyed playing with this, great toy with lots of play value. However would of been nice if perhaps came in a nice tool box, plus really do wish had invested in the larger se

I bought this for my 3 year old. He loves it. It is very sturdy and easy for him to use and I think he’ll enjoy it for a couple of years. I am planning on adding to the set as it is much loved

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this for my 4yr old grandson birthday, probably the best present he had, he absolutely loves it. He can now make things on his own. We showed him for a while, but now able to build things unsupervised. Will definitely be adding to this for Christmas. Excellent for coordinating.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSuch a great toy! 3yr old loves it as does 8yr old. Great quality, love the different pieces (would love more wooden blocks but could’ve bought bigger box). Combines multiple pieces of cardboard boxes together too so great potential. The booklet that comes with isn’t a step by step guide like Lego, just a simple picture of 3 creations and the list of parts used. So glad I chose this over the more basic Melissa & Doug sets despite my love of their all wooden toys. This should encourage STEM play

My nephew loves this stuff. My only let down was the quantity of what you get for the price. This isn’t cheap for what you get but ideal for kids who love to build things.

Brio is great. We have a railway and wanted to try their other stuff – we were not disappointed by this. The kids really love using their imagination to build things with this and is surprisingly versatile in the hands of a 3 or 5 year old. We’ve had everything from a salamader to a robot. Will certainly be buying more of this.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy sons had Brio Mec when they were young. I still have theirs and my grandchildren love playing with it so I was pleased to find you can now buy it again. Its changed names and colours but technically its the same. A great toy that will keep them occupied for hours. I couldnt buy it for my first grandson but have bought this for his brother’s 4th birthday. They both play with it and so does my granddaughter.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersInstructions? Come on people you’re supposed to use your imagination. Just start putting bits together & see where it takes you. This is a great quality set but could use blocks specifically designed to allow fixing wooded strips at right angles and less plastic cranks & trims. Still my grandson got thoroughly adsorbed in it. Particularly liked the hammer…predictable.
