The DVD Player arrived on time but unfortunately did not function properly. I reported the problem to Electpro Customer Service who tried to remedy the problem on-line. This was unsuccessful so they immediately arranged for a replacement unit to be despatched. This arrived within a couple of days and functions properly and as expected.
I am more than happy with the service I have received from Electpro (Amy).

I had an old dvd player which required a scart adaptor to hdmi which meant more cables.
So, I bought this and I tried my cds and dvds which played with ease without reading the manual.
It’s a great looking little machine, good sound quality and slim enough to fit under my TV.
    I recommend this 100%.
    It’s a YES from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking and easy to use.

Amazing bit of kit for the price, well packaged and complete (except for batteries). Bought this to play dvd’s recorded on an older Panasonic dvd player/recorder that had packed in but unfortunately the Panasonic discs would not play on this Electcom Pro so only 4 stars. My friend by the way has a new DVD player that does play the old Panasonic recordings.

I initially dismissed this player. I thought at this price it would be poor quality. So instead I bought a more expensive machine by Philips thinking by buying branded I would get quality. The Philips unit packed in within 6 months. So I bought this DVD player and so far its been brilliant, works well does everything I want it to and so far has out lasted the mo0re expensive ‘branded’ product.

Simple to set up, if I found abbreviations or acronyms in the manual I didn’t understand, all were solved by Googling them.
I too found it to be annoyingly light in weight, but solved this instability issue by placing an anti slip mat underneath.
I too was vexed by the illuminated light telling me it was switched ‘OFF’ very annoying, but I can work around that by switching it off at the mains, fortunately
it is near but it will not be in everyones case.
Lastly it won’t play my videos from a USB stick, but not an issue with me as my adjacent TV does.

4.0 out of 5 stars It Works as Advertised but with Niggles.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI purchased this player to view my small collection of Region One DVDs and it does the job perfectly.
The picture and sound quality is Very Good and it’s very quiet… as my previous Region Free player used to make an annoying humming sound.
It also plays my standard DVDs along with CDs and MP3s so i am very pleased.
The actual unit is quite compact, light weight and is made of plastic… but that has no reflection on the quality.
Very easy to set up… i didn’t need to use the leads that came with it, as i just plugged it into the existing HDMI from my previous player that had recently packed in.
You just basically plug and play… so simple i wish they could make computers this easy to set up?
The remote is very light weight but it works perfectly and has a good range… with my previous player i had to get within 3 feet of it.

My only gripes are as follows:

    1. Came without batteries as you need 2 x AAA (but not a problem for me as i salvaged the ones from my previous player.

    2. That annoying bright orange light that states OFF why not a subtle little red light?

So not really complaining… and for 40 and Free Delivery what more can i say.

Okay.. my old Sony dvd player died a death
Had a good look through what was available and settled on this device.

Firstly, despatch and delivery were very prompt. On arrival I opened up the packaging and took a look at the dvd player. It’s a nice handy small size (ideal to take in a motorhome or caravan for instance) but it’s got all the features you need. Plays all region dvds, from a usb drive too.

Connected up, plugged in and switched on, bunged in a disc, expecting to have to do some setting up but no! There’s the menu ready to rock and roll.(okay, it was sci fi, not rock n roll, but you get the picture.)

    Picture. Yep, perfect resolution.

All in all, very happy with my new dvd player!

I’ve now had the dvd player a couple of weeks and have so far been quite impressed. I have used the dvd function and the CD ripping function as well – although this wasn’t quite as easy, it is certainly useful. The remote control needed a bit of studying initially for the CD ripping in particular but the manual was also quitelpful here. Unlike the program I use on my computer it doesn’t name the tracks or album which is easy enough to remedy by connecting the USB to computer or tablet. I like the fact the USB slot is easy to access on the front (see photo). I intend using the ripping function to create playlists for my car which also has a USB slot on the sound system.
Altogether for the money it is very good value and I would certainly recommend it.
I intend trying to look at other formats that it will play but have not got round to it yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and straightforward

Really pleased with this dvd player. very easy to set up , easy to use, nice size remote but you have to make sure your pointing it directly at the player. although i haven’t had the need to contact Electcom Pro their email communication and website and the 3 year warranty which i registered for all seem very clear and I feel confident that should I need their services in the future it would be a simple process.. the only negative to the purchase was the amazon delivery driver, i advised them to leave behind the wheelie bin but they left it leaning against my front door in full view, and the when i check my order on amazon site it states Delivered “parcel was handed to resident”

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy Dad loves his new DVD player. My only comment: it was a lot smaller than it looked when advertised. But main thing is it’s easy to use, so thank you

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThe DVD player has a decent picture. Sound is fine. It feels like a modern player but:-

    It says “for the elderly”

Well on Amazon I looked at the remote, it seemed large enough.

The DVD arrived and the remote was larger than many others but, despite that the buttons squashed together making operating as cramped as a smaller remote.

It does matter because I have AGE RELATED WMV and wanted more space on remote. Had my eyes been better, would not have been a problem.

Next problem is there as far as I can tell no skip function on the remote, although a decent fast forward.

I use a skip button to get rid of annoying adds -some films have 5 ot more.

I like the picture and sound so i am going to see if I can get used to the remote, as I said the picture really is good, and the sound also good.

So I hope I get used to the remote as I like this player,

Anyone with no eye problems, great buy – Has a lot of decent functions including, putting your music onto a USB Stick.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI’ve only had this player for a few days but my initial impression is it’s pretty good value all things considered. Set up was a doddle though the miserable 1m HDMI cable was unusable due to being so short.

I haven’t tested all the features but have watched a couple of live concert DVDs and was pretty impressed. It does however have its faults, the above mentioned HDMI cable being way too short, also, when the unit is switched off there is a rather large bright orange ‘OFF’ light on the front panel….why? Why not just a tiny red LED like everyone else? The remote is a bit hit and miss, it really needs to be pointed directly at the device. My other device remotes I could stick in my ear and they would still operate whatever button was pressed.

Some folk bemoan the lightness of the remote, to me it’s perfect. My 400+ Marantz SACD player’s remote weighs about 30g heavier and I put that down to using heavier AA batteries as opposed to skinny AAA batteries.

It states you can apply for an extra 3 years warranty by scanning a QR code, well I can’t do that so e-mailed the company to register but never heard anything back.

I’ll update this review as things go….bad or good.

Update 10th June 2023: I finally got through to Electom and successfully activated my 3 year warranty which pleased me no end, that is great peace of mind. I have found that on certain DVDs the colour balance can be way off. I was watching a documentary last night and the tops of giant waves rolling onto a beach appeared to be yellow! I need to fiddle with the colour settings I think.

Also, most annoying was it refused to play a brand new region free DVD (Child 44) that arrived from Amazon the other day. It happily plays the warning not to play in front of an audience 3 times then just reverts back to the Electom logo. Not at all happy with that.

Update 11th June 2023. I’ve discovered this player has no ‘Resume Play’ feature as such. It will resume play but only if the machine is not switched off by which I mean if you stop a disc playing, you can get it to carry on where you left off just so long as you don’t switch the device off in the meantime. This feature has to be selected from the settings menu. My other (older but much more expensive) Marantz device can be switched off for weeks and will carry on playing as soon as it’s switched on just so long as the disc hasn’t been removed.

So with this device, rather than leave it in pause mode while you answer the door/make your supper/visit the loo, you can stop the disc but don’t switch it off if you wish to pick up where you left off.

Golden Review Award: 114 From Our UsersDevice received on 13 September 202
This review on 9 November 2021 (60 days’ subsequent)

I will start by stating that the model I received is the Electcom ELC-1910 multi-region DVD player (the model’s identification was not displayed on the site when I ordered it).

To date, this player is providing satisfactory service. It plays my DVD’s from North America (where I lived for many years) and from Britain without specific action required on my part. I place the DVD into the drive and the DVD plays regardless of its origin.

The player arrived in a neatly presented and packaged box. The box contained the DVD player (with a mains cable moulded into it, terminated with a three-pin UK plug), one HDMI cable, one three-channel A/V cable (RCA cable), one remote control, and one instruction booklet.

The player is aesthetically pleasing (as any entirely black box can be). Its case is entirely plastic.

A sticky label on the back of the case indicated the manufacturing date to be January 2021 (I received my player in September 2021). The unit has no serial number.

If you are keen to see the player in action as soon as you receive it, be aware that the remote control requires two AAA batteries, and these are not supplied with the device.

Physical set-up is easy. If your television has a HDMI connection (all recent ones do), then connect the player to that (if your television has multiple HDMI connections, refer to your television guide as to which one to use). Otherwise, use the RCA cable; the instruction booklet shows you how.

I strongly recommend that you make yourself a mug of tea, sit down comfortably, then take the time and the trouble to first work through the instruction booklet, familiarise yourself (at least to some extent) with the remote control, and to set-up your system. The instruction booklet is far from perfect, and is confusing in places, but it is all you have to get started, and it does provide some useful help. Persistence is a virtue that brings its rewards.

During set-up, under “Rating”, be aware that the player is initially set to the highest parental control rating (level 1, “Kid Safe”). There are 8 settings, level 8 being “Adult”. Unless you are aware of this, you may think that the player is faulty (when it is not) when it fails to play some DVD discs, or some chapters on some DVD discs. (I encountered this upon inserting a CSI: Crime Scene Investigation disc for my initial test before I had read about the parental control. The main menu appeared , but I could not select any of the options.) Set the parental control rating to whatever is appropriate for your needs. It can be “password” protected (a four-digit number).

Criticisms made by others may, in some cases, be due to a lack of understanding in the set-up and use of the player.

    The remote control:

The remote control is fairly large with the buttons neatly laid out. This is better than many. A single, firm push of a button works fine. While adequate, a larger device with more space between the buttons would have been better.

My biggest niggle is the placing of the rewind and fast-forward buttons immediately beneath the previous chapter and next chapter buttons respectively. On a number of occasions, my finger nail has accidentally pressed the change of chapter buttons when all I wanted to do was to go back or forward a few seconds. There is then the fiddle and delay of getting back to where I wanted to be.

It would have made sense to place the mute button beside the volume up and volume down buttons, but you won’t find it there.

    Other:

Apart from DVD-video, I have played a few CD-audio discs (music) through the player. I can find no fault with the sound quality that the player outputs. Obviously, I interpret this only as I hear it through my television speakers, but I can detect no distortion; indeed, the music sounds wonderful.

When playing a CD-audio, the “ELECTCOM” name and a large QR-code-square are permanently displayed in a fixed position on the screen. If you are going to use the player frequently for CD-audio, then, to alleviate your concern about potential ‘burn-in’, you will need to turn off the display using your television’s controls, because you cannot turn off the display using the player’s controls or settings (at least, not that I can find).

I have not used the player for any other purpose.

The instruction booklet states, under “Features”, that this device has “high reliability and stability and super error correction.” This does not mean that you will not experience jitters and jumps on occasion. Such occurrences have been few, and can, of course, be a problem with the disc itself, nothing to do with the player (everything is clean and free from dust on my system, and I handle all with care). What I can say is that in all cases so far, rarely by just rewinding and replaying, more often by ejecting the disc then restarting from an appropriate position (chapter selection, for example), I can view those same scenes without the jitters and jumps reappearing. While I feel it harsh to mention this given the few occasions I have experienced it, I feel it fair to consider why such problems arise, and that I have to go to such lengths to review the scenes, in light of the player’s “high reliability and stability and super error correction”.

I hope this has been of use.
